『最新鉄道車両工学』から101系と103系の性能差を見開きで比較できるページ。なお、1968年の本なので現代目線では最新ではないのは注意

101系は6M4Tとなまくらにされた後。103系は本来の性能が出る6M4Tの比較。定格電流は101系が300A、103系が330Aだけどノッチアップは350Aでそろえている

で、101系は起動抵抗が抜けたところで見ると制御段の加速力がおよそ40t／㎏。加速力に変換するとだいたい1.3km/h/s！。対する103系は1.7km/h/s。もちろんMT46Aは本来こんな使い方するモータじゃないからMT46Aがタコスケということにはならないんだけど、国鉄時代の101系がいかに「牙を抜かれていた」かわかるというものだよね

んで、加速力ってのは0.2km/h/sあたりで抵抗やらなんやらで実用的な加速ができなくなるんだけど、101系6M4Tは40%WFで80km/hのあたりを見ると0.16km/h/s。かなり苦しい。103系のWF35%で80kmを見ると0.25km/h/s。まだ加速余力がある。ギアリング6.07なのにこ奴なかなかやりおる（まあ車輪径が101系より50mmでかいから実質なギアリングの差はそれほどでもないんだけど）。トルクモータの面目躍如だよねえ。MT55はこの後もけっこう粘って95km/hくらいまでは引っ張れる計算になる。MT46Aは90km/h行くか行かないかだね。ギアリング5.6ってのもMT46Aにはつらいところなんじゃないかな

MT46Aは高めのMT比でギアリング4.2くらいに浅くセットして、最高速度重視の特急列車なんかに本来使う特性のモータだと思うよ。ただ、モータの絶縁がたしかB種だったんで、トルクが問われる勾配線とかでは厳しい。国鉄だったら東海道本線や常磐線専用モータ、みたいな感じかな

実際常磐線の421系なんかはギアリング4.82で4M4T、定格300A限流値400A条件だけど、0.16km/h/sで加速が苦しくなる地点が95km/hになってMT46A本来の性能が出ているからね。101系の使い方がおかしかったんだよ

んでだ。たぶん101系が電流食いだからとられた措置だと思うんだけど、秩父鉄道に21両が売却されて2M1T編成組んだじゃん。その時モータの出力を85kwに落としてんだよね…100kwの段階で全界磁1.3km/h/sしか出てないんだぜ？　でも、乗った時の印象として制御段の加速力はそんなに悪くなかったと思うんだよね…WFに入ってからは途端に加速が苦しくなってたけど
