the    worst    thing    you    could    do    is    wear    your    heart    on    your    sleeve .    you    do    your    due    diligence :    masking    every    painful    consequence    of    choosing    to    ʰᵒˡᵈ   ⁱⁿ    ᵗʰᵉ    ʷᵒʳᵈˢ    that    plague    your    brain    with    a    throbbing    sadness ,    like    an    incurable    disease .

you    are    a    culmination    of    agony :    every    scraped    knee ,    every    sour    -    mouthed    bully ,    every    ounce    of    paternal    disappointment    from    the    expectations    you    expertly    fail    to    meet .    𝚒𝚝    𝚒𝚜    𝚊    𝚛𝚘𝚝𝚝𝚎𝚗    𝚑𝚞𝚛𝚝 :    to    feel    different ,    and    even    more    rotten ,    to    feel    like    no    one    will    ever    get it .    𝒃𝒖𝒕    𝒔𝒉𝒆    𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 .    she    would    a    million    times    over    but    given    your    predicament ,    it    was    hardly    a    comforting    thought .    you    don't    want    to    disappoint    her ,    too .    she's    had    enough    of    that    in    her    life .

               it   is   something   that   jane   understands.      she   too   has   had   OFF   DAYS,   where   all   she   feels   is   ANGER.      of   course   there   is   always   REGRET   that   soon   follows   after   an   outburst.      maybe   it   is   just   part   of   growing   up?      a   TEENAGER   THING,   she   remembers   hopper   saying   that.      maybe   it   is   teenager   feelings   that   caused   him   to   freak   out   before?      she   won’t   presume   to   know   FULLY   what   he   feels,   but   she’s   willing   to   listen,   lend   an   ear   if   he   actually   WANTS   to   talk   about   what   bothers   him.

               ❝   it   is   okay,   mike.   ❞      she   just   has   to   reassure   him.      SHE’S   NOT   MAD.      yes,   words   had   initially   HURT,   as   anything   said   with   such   a   HARSH   TONE   often   did.      jane   does   know   that   he   feels   sorry   though,   if   his   APOLOGY   wasn’t   enough   to   convince   her,   the   emotion   in   his   eyes   was.

Honestly, she’s still not sure if she’s fully friends with Mike yet outside of Hellfire, but she can tell right now that the vibes were off. Or at least, different than they usually seemed.
