anyways, whoo! 2023! compared to both 2022 and 2021, i gotta say, my art style took a hard swerve in some direction this year. i mean, look at that klavier from january and that butch kim from just this december! (granted, i heavily referenced the portrait of butch kim but still, i didn't use to paint! mama mia!)

drawing this one was so time-consuming and ambitious but boy, do i love the end result! i had fun doing the inks for this one but was it a lot! i usually color in lineart and render everything but i had to stop myself from doing it for this one bc man, i'll die asksks

this also has some of my favorite apollos i've drawn, definitely

also! the part about the lineart not being colored and no rendering ended up being a deliberate stylistic choice for this one bc i had like more freedom to do just shadows with inks without it looking too out of place.

The last hour of the day and we end with:

Everyone agrees: Abi is the sweetest character AND she's got the finest BOOTY!!

Justice knows a few things about tarot readings and gave a little description for the cards they found!

The Abi chase scene was great. Miles losing it over the others not hitting the QTEs, Justice worrying he killed Nick cuz they ran instead of helped, Siobhan and Zach ganging up to fuck with Miles!

Miles: "MY GLASSES! I CAN'T SEE WITHOUT MY GLASSES"

Zach SPOILERS!

Zach was so upset that the 50s pack cut out his tears

Siobhan: "Stop crying you lil pussy!"

Justice vs Zach: Is Emma being Toxic or is Jacob? (Oh god poor Miles looked so uncomfy. He just wants to play. I think a good part of chat was also uncomfy)

CRAZY KEN BAND!!

Zach: "I have better pecs than that! They didn't capture my pecs!"

*when the rotor arm fell in the water* Zach: "MY PENIS FELL OFF!!" Justice: "MY ASS IS GONE!!"

They saved Jacob oh thank christ

Justice hates how he runs in the game, specifically how his elbows flail out. Zach: "LOOKIT YOUR SPIDER ARMS GO!"

Chapter 3 done. Justice thinks that they can finish the game next session. He has also only played 1/2 of chapter 2 so.

Does that mean... A HALLOWEEN STREAM?? (probably not, they just didnt plan this well lol)

She was the sun reborn the epitome of beauty, the moon her face her hair as wild and calm as the sea both equally beautiful the stars and moon looked upon her beauty and elegance she was Kayiah , was the earth goddess of island of Grenada She was known for her beauty, strength,intelligence, and was a powerful protector of the earth and its inhabitants.

One day, Kayiah was banished from Olympus by her fellow goddesses and gods who were jealous and accused her of being "too wild and uncontrollable."

As she wandered she was chained to the earth, so she started creating life, with her tears and sorrows she created a plethora of creatures. Each and all her children, she wanted them to keep her companion non of which want to and only kept breaking promises and cutting deep her making her heart break even more.

Her beautiful smooth dark brown skin began to turn to stone and she no longer had love in her heart for her children the whole island began to decay they started to beg for mercy and as she did they kicked her out casting her out to sea after a pirate attempted to make her his "wife." Instead of taking her side she was kicked completely off the island.

She walked away far from humanity she came across a island if you can even call it that it was just a flat floating rock adrift at sea. She cried and cried hard everything that's she's ever known has been stripped from her time after time.

This time her tears made the rock flourish green everywhere. She was trapped in this rock mentally so she did what any person would do after crying she fell asleep. Thick vines cover she brown skin keeping her attached.

50 years passed she wouldn't know she was tossed into a deep sleep. She hasn't aged a day all her dreams were blank. That was until that fateful day.

"HEY GUYS LOOK AN ISLAND " a pirate with a straw hat yelled excitedly. "Calm down luffy it's just a grassy rock i doubt there's anything of worth here" an orange hair girl said not surprised by her captain.Nami-swannn~ she's so precious", a blonde male said with heart eyes. As the crew approaches the mysterious floating rock,they noticed the thick vines covering the surface and decided to investigate.

"G-Guys I don't think we should be here " a cowardly voice said. 'For once I'm with long nose" swman grumbled. The Straw hat didn't care Island means food. Food is food, the one named luffy was being the curious captain he was and climbed up the vines only to find a beautiful statue woman with brown skin, sound asleep wrapped up in a pile vines.

He nudged her awake trying to wake up the sleeping beauty, but she remained motionless . "Hey lady do you have food?" The curious captain asked. Even though she heard him she couldn't wake up so intranced in her slumber she made a vine craft of 3 ripe mangoes.

"WHOAAAAA FOOOODDDD" the loud captain yelled,"did you do that?" He said while stuffing his face. "YUMMY can I have more please?" He asked with a grin. She made more Her body twitched just a bit the first time in a long time she heard voices clearly. The crew stumbled across their captain stuffing his face laughing with a statue of a beautiful woman.

" HEY GUYS LOOKIT" an overly excited captain was pointing to which the crew looked at the statue cracking. Then a woman fell out of said statue on to the grown dressed in fine silk hatler top and skirt with golden sandals. hues of green,brown, white and gold adorn her. She laid still unable to breath her pierced nose twitch.

The crew pondered what to do with her, but eventually they decided to take her aboard their ship, where chopper nursed her back to health.

As she slowly regained her consciousness she opens her eyes and looked at her surroundings. She was . Guysss come here she's awake"a raccoon dog spoke as a Piece of stone breaking off of her once hard skin turning back soft and full of life everyone flocked to see "who are you ? "Luffy asked. "I am a goddess "she replied still dazed from her long sleep. The whole crew looked at her in disbelief. "NO WAY SHE COULDN'T POSSIBLY BE A GODDESS" the crew was in . "You were trapped in that rock for 50 years," Nami said with concern. "We found you and brought you aboard our ship." "You must simply let me repay you for your kindness as she made heaps of gold, precious metals ans fruits. Everyone's jaw was on the floor." I am Kayiah, the earth goddess of Grenada," she replied, her voice soft and melodious like silk.

"Well I'll be off now" she said with a smile, as she arted to walk away because it had been awhile since she last walked she tripped falling face first.

The silence was loud the a hearty laugh emerges from the Straw hat. "You're odd you should join my crew" He said with a smile " no thank you,but can you direct me to the next island It would be much appreciated" she stated with a smile still trying to get up "nah but if you were part of my crew then maybe I would help you " He said with a grin she gave him a blank stare , she walked over to the deck as everyone stands around her awaiting her decision. "Your Pirates right?" She asked knowingly looking up at the obvious pirate flag "Yes but what does that matter big sis can i call you big sis how did you make all this gold" a orange haired navigator spoke up " Then id have to decline" her accent still pervelent.she sat on the railing maintaining eye contact she jumped off the railsof the merry with a splash .

"MY HAIRR" the brown skin girl screamed as the water spit her back into the ship her clothes drenched and her curls drenched,she stood up and started making a raft with palm leaves then was about to dive in when a beautiful raven haired woman tapped her shoulder." Um I don't think It's wise to go out to sea in that raft especially when Nami said there was going to be a storm". She got up slowly and turned around "miss I'm very thankful you and your friends saved me bit I can't over stay my welcome, i don't have the best history with pirates" she replied with a unique expression "no is okay we totally get it" the navigator spoke up "you don't have to trust us we're currently on our way to skypia ". She felt something warm and fluffy wrap around her leg. She looked down confused and saw the little reindeer tearing up "momma" it said give Kayiah the cutest puppy eyes 'hell why is there a reindeer on board' she smiled gently at the crying reindeer picking it up I guess ill stay till the storms over.

I think my 10+ hours into fashion dreamer opinion is it's a good game, but not really a good $50 game.

But of course it probably will be after all the dumb fucking content updates I hate live service games.

I do love dressing people up, and I love getting new things, I love the outfit making. I just wish there was MORE to do, you know? Like there's fun here but it's like mobile app you check once a day for a few weeks fun. Not sink 50 hours into and lose time because you played so long fun. I don't mind not having a story, like a lot of people do but I don't. I love just going around giving people cute outfits. But I wish there was more.

Style Savvy had more restrictions on making outfits, like someone would want a sporty orange skirt and the game was very specific on what that meant. In this game characters are always more vague about what they want, and the categories aren't actually defined so you have to just guess, and often you will guess wrong, but there's no penalty so it doesn't matter. There's also the trend system when making outfits, but you're expected to just remember them; They don't pop up on the UI. If they showed up on the UI I could actually use them, and it would make creating lookits more of a fun creative challenge.

The other kind of outfit creation is when an NPC shows you an item and has you created an outfit for it. But in a really annoying matter there are no restrictions whatsoever, and you're rewarded no matter what you do even if you're not in trend or whatever. So you could just make them wear anything it doesn't matter. I want things to matter!

My biggest complaint though is the UI. The inventory system sucks really bad. Having no categorization for items sucks really bad. If someone's request is for socks, I first have to scroll all the way down to socks and pick those out, before scrolling all the way back up to put together their outfit. With 4,000 items in your inventory that is ridiculous time to scroll. It does not make sense to me that the inventory has no organization. Instead they offer favorites pages, but you only get a few and they suck? You can drag a few items you like onto them, but that's not how fashion works. I don't make everyone wear the same thing over and over. If I get someone who is really into flowers, I'm going to want to make them wear flower clothes. Why would I put the flower clothes in my favorites though, I'm not going to make anyone else wear them. I should be able to search for clothes with flower patterns!!!!

But I do really enjoy what's there, giving lookits to the NPCs is fun! You meet a character like Streamer Steven and get to craft a fun influencer outfit for him. I just wish there were some more restrictions to it, like if Steven had a brand or style. If I would get rewarded for doing things Stephen liked, or penalized for giving Steven outfits that don't work for him. But the game doesn't have those things implemented. It's totally up to you to make your own restrictions, and I think that doesn't fully work in a game like this. On occasions it feels like I'm in a character creator rather than playing a game; and that's not an awful thing, it just doesn't feel like it will capture me for hours on end.

I'm still excited for the updates even if I hate games getting updates. I definitely would have preferred all the content was in there at launch, but there are some styles the game is severely lacking in and I can't wait to see them.

Specifically summer clothes, there are so few summer clothes in this game. There's like three tank tops for type A bodies and there's none for type B. There's one pair of sandals and they're specifically titled zori sandals so I think they're actually meant to go with the kimonos which I haven't seen yet.

There's also a ton of Christmas stuff in the game, so to me it's obvious that all the holiday stuff is going to come in updates but the Christmas stuff was there because the game launched during the Christmas season. Frustrating because the southern hemisphere exists, but also I think winter clothes are boring.

Idk where was I going with this rant. I think this game isn't worth $50 right now but will be in a year. If you're ok with that buy now, if not wait. Even then a lot of the depth of style savvy is missed. I do not think we'll ever get a style savvy game or one like it again. Even without the style savvy aspects though it still is fun.

The Darkest Shadow: An Adventure for Shadowrun by C.R. Shaver & Jason Rush

From White Wolf Magazine #35 (March/April 1993), this is the last of five articles about New Orleans. Cover by John Zeleznik.

Honestly, I am shocked and ashamed of myself for having written a tumblr about 1st edition Shadowrun for YEARS and not yet mentioned Zeleznik. Keep an eye out for an art post.

This is the original one of a kind hand drawing I submitted to the White Wolf Magazine art director for approval before creating the Shadowrun themed acrylic painting cover art for White Wolf Magazine #35. “A sexy Decker and her dragon pets chillin' in her cyber lair above of a Gumbo shop in New Orleans”

That sounds wizzer… it’s a shame she’s a hooker who barely plays a role in the adventure.

She’s not the Big Bad Evil Chummer – that is Monroe Darcier, first introduced in the previous issue:

“[Monroe] Darcier is possibly the most powerful creature in New Orleans, and GMs need to realize he is not here to be beaten... If the players beat him, the GM did not play Darcier to his full viciousness.”

Translation: Monroe Darcier is the author’s PC and DON’T YOU DARE kill him.

Now, there is something to be said for having a recurrent villain, but come on, this is a one-shot module and you give the stats for Darcier, so of course the player characters will try to kill him.

The Mr. Johnson for this run is Mrs. Obeah – Rachel Obeah the Houngan, also described in the previous issue. Is that her on the cover, then?

“Obeah is a tall, sophisticated black woman dressed in a long dark coat.”

So, no.

In the unlikely event this adventure gets made into a movie, she better be portrayed by Grace Jones.

Obeah wants to hire the runners to find her sister, Sprite, a French Quarter prostitute who has been missing for three days.

In the unlikely event this adventure gets made into a movie, she better be portrayed by Sierra Mist.

Sprite is “…a black girl who appears to be in her late teens”, so that’s a different hooker on the cover, apparently. The job pays 75,000 ¥ EACH, so this is a no-brainer as to whether the runners will take the job.

Like any other run, this one starts off with Legwork, where a few Etiquette rolls and 50 ¥ bribes introduce them to…

She’s called Star because of the star on her face, so ka?

Star – a tall, white-haired elf, wears a lot of chrome and leather; her “once-lovely face… hardened by the street”. A hooker.

Flash – who is presumably human, but whose participation in the adventure consists of drinking Voodoo Yoohoo Chococherry Cola (seriously – it’s spelled out) and giving important plot details to the PCs. Also, a hooker.

And

Calliope – a short human with a blue mohawk. Also, a hooker. And cover model.

So, instead of the cover being one of the two named NPCs from the previous issue (Rachel Obeah and Monroe Darcier), they decided that the cover would feature the 4th hooker in the adventure, who doesn’t really contribute much of anything to the plot.

But White Wolf, you know, knows their audience (white dudes). Which also explains why Monroe Darcier the Loa-possessed Vampire Boko, described as a “tall, handsome black man”, is portrayed in the article as this:

Who is this chick supposed to be, anyway? A 5th hooker?

Yup, a white man, because apparently White Wolf thought we couldn’t handle a black vampire.

They were wrong.

Darcier’s stats, which close out the adventure, are absolutely ridiculous. He has a strength of 24, which is crazy high by D&D standards. He is only slightly less strong than a rhinoceros (Str 25), has a Body (17) greater than that of a Western Dragon (15), and is more intelligent (Int 14) than the Great Dragon Lofwyr (Int 14).

Seriously – Darcier has to be the most intelligent creature ON THE ENTIRE PLANET.

Darcier can solve global warming, unify gravity with quantum field theory, translate the Voynich manuscript, prove the Riemann Hypothesis, AND beat up Chuck Norris. What does he spend his time doing instead? Skulking around NOLA being the new Jack the Ripper.

By the end of the adventure, the runners will have fought ghouls in the French Quarter and zombies in the bayou and have a shot at taking out Darcier, though they likely won’t.

Fate and Phantasms #124: Hassan of the Serenity

Today on Fate and Phantasms, we’re making the most adorable of the Hassans, Hassan of the Serenity! Lookit her! I just wanna pinch her little cheeks!

But I won’t.

For this build we need poison skin, poison daggers, and the ability to shapeshift into other people which literally never gets brought up. Check out her build breakdown below the cut, or her character sheet over here!

Like a couple characters, you’re really a human, but those idiots don’t get poison skin. Fortunately, WotC came up with a solution! It skirts the edge of officialness, but the Grung do exist in a Wizards of the Coast rulebook, so you can play as them! (Just not in Adventurer’s League games.) Being a grung increases your Dexterity by 2 and Constitution by 1. You gain proficiency in Perception, get a walking and climbing speed of 25 feet, are Amphibious, and get Poisonous Skin. Any creature that directly touches you must make a DC 12 Constitution save or be poisoned for a minute, with additional saves each turn they aren’t touching you. You can also poison your piercing weapons as you attack, forcing another constitution save that deals poison damage on a failure. Finally, your Standing Leap lets you jump 25′ across and 15′ straight up, even without a running start, for those anime-style rooftop battles. All this does come with a drawback, though. Your Water Dependency means if you don’t submerge yourself in water for an hour each day, you suffer exhaustion that can’t be taken away without either magic or another long bath. Good luck dealing with that in the desert!

Like the other Hassans, you’re an Acolyte, giving you proficiency in Insight and Religion. Why rock the boat?

Ability Scores

Like many assassins, you’ll want to focus on Dexterity for this build. Your schtick is more about social manipulation, but being able to duck out when you need to is pretty important too. After that is Charisma, so you can sucker your mark into bed with you. After that is Wisdom- being able to charm a person is good, but you have to be perceptive enough to figure out how to do it in the first place. Your Constitution isn’t that great, but people should be giving you a wide berth anyway. We don’t need Intelligence, but you’re not dumb, so we’re dumping Strength. Straight-up brawls are not your thing.

Class Levels

1. Monk 1: We’ll get into your assassin skills in a bit, but I think your poison needs a bit of buffing first. That’ll take a while, but right now you get proficiency in Strength and Dexterity saves, as well as two monk skills- Stealth and Acrobatics will serve you well.

You also get Unarmored Defense, making your AC based on your dexterity and wisdom instead of just the former. That’s good, because you can’t use your Martial Arts in armor. This lets you use dexterity instead of strength for your monk attacks, and you do a minimum of 1d4 damage with unarmed attacks and monk weapons that’ll increase as you level. Finally, you can make an unarmed attack as a bonus action if you make the attack action with monk weapons.

2. Monk 2: Second level monks can use Ki Points to make two attacks, dodge, disengage, or dash as a bonus action. It should be mentioned that doing either of the latter two doubles your already considerable jump distance, in case your DM thinks a 50 foot chasm is enough to stop you. To help with that, your Unarmored Movement helps make up for your reduced speed, adding 10 to your movement speed.

3. Monk 3: As a Way of Mercy monk, your paws get just a bit more poisonous thanks to your Hands of Harm. You can spend a ki point once per turn when you hit a creature with an unarmed attack to deal extra necrotic damage to them. You also get some Hands of Healing that use ki once per turn to heal a creature, but that’s less in character. And also a really bad idea, what with that poisonous skin and all.

You can also deflect missiles, reducing damage from ranged weapons and possibly even spending ki to throw it back as part of the reaction.

4. Monk 4: Use your first Ability Score Improvement to grab some Squat Nimbleness. This feat increases your movement speed by 5′ to negate being small, gives you +1 Dexterity, proficiency in Athletics, and advantage on your checks to break free from grapples. I feel like that last bit probably won’t be much of an issue for you, but you never know.

You can also Slow Fall as a reaction, to help with the inevitable side effect of all that jumping you can do.

5. Monk 5: Fifth level monks get an Extra Attack, and can spend ki to make a Stunning Strike, forcing a constitution save (DC 8 plus your proficiency plus your wisdom modifier) or they become stunned for a round. You can also use Focused Aim to turn ki points into extra points on your attack roll, to avoid wasting all that poison.

6. Monk 6: Your Ki-Empowered Strikes make your unarmed attacks magical to overcome resistance, and your Physician’s Touch empowers your hands of healing and harming. The former can end one instance of blinding, deafening, paralyzing, poisoning, or being stunned (or I guess replace those with another instance of being poisoned), and the latter makes the target poisoned with no save for a round. Hey, you get what you pay for.

7. Rogue 1: Now that your poison is up to snuff, we can focus on your assassin skills. Multiclassing into rogue nets you a Deception proficiency and the ability to speak Thieves’ Cant. Grungs don’t get common as a racial language, so this might actually help when you try to communicate with the rest of the party. You also get a Sneak Attack for extra damage with finesse weapons. You also get Expertise in two skills, doubling your proficiency with those skills. Your Deception and Insight game are on point now.

8. Rogue 2: Second level rogues can make a Cunning Action on their bonus action. They can use this to dash, disengage, or hide. Hey, that’s most of what monks have to spend stuff to do!

9. Rogue 3: Third level rogues get their subclass, and as your class name would suggest you’re an Assassin! As an assassin, you can Assassinate targets, giving you free advantage on creatures who haven’t taken a turn yet and giving you free critical hits on surprised creatures. Your poisonous skin doesn’t actually kill people in this universe, but a knife to the back can be pretty good too.

10. Bard 1: We need spellcasting for a feat we’re grabbing later, so sorry for the third class. I promise we were trying to make something simple this time. As far as justification goes, you’re the embodiment of a fictional story, the “Poison Damsel”.

You can cast Spells using your Charisma, and you can hand out Bardic Inspiration to your allies (thankfully not by touch), giving them an extra d6 to use on one attack roll, ability check, or saving throw. You can inspire people a number of times per long rest equal to your charisma modifier. You also get another skill proficiency. Sleight of Hand is pretty useful, especially when your hands kill people.

For spells, grab Friends and Charm Person to string your enemies along, Longstrider and Feather Fall to make up for all the monk levels we’re missing out on, and Minor Illusion and Disguise Self to perfect your disguises. Not that being a frog isn’t still and issue for you- your size will seriously limit how many people you can pretend to be.

11. Rogue 4: Use this ASI to become a Poisoner, allowing you to ignore resistance to poison damage, apply non-grung poisons to weapons as a bonus action, and create powerful poisons with a poisoner’s kit. More powerful than your skin, at least.

12. Rogue 5: Fifth level rogues can use their Uncanny Dodge as a reaction, halving damage from an incoming attack. Smart enemies will be using reach weapons, which tend to hurt a bit. Try not to touch the pointy bits.

13. Rogue 6: You get another round of Expertise, doubling your proficiency for Stealth and Sleight of Hand for the perfect getaway.

14. Rogue 7: Seventh level rogues get the powerful Evasion technique, turning your failed dexterity saves into successes for avoiding damage, and successes negate all damage entirely! Also, your sneak attack grows to 4d6. We’re not going to bring it up every time, just know it grows on odd levels.

15. Rogue 8: Having to rely on spell slots for shapeshifting is for nerds! Use this ASI to become an Eldritch Adept, allowing you to get the invocation Mask of Many Faces, which lets you cast Disguise Self at will! Now you can save all those spell slots for more useful things.

16. Rogue 9: Ninth level Assassins get Infiltration Expertise, allowing you to spend a week making a new identity that lasts until others are given obvious reasons to call you sus. Looking the part can only get you so far- nobody mistrusts paperwork.

17. Rogue 10: Now that we have your feats down, we can finally start boosting your abilities! Use this ASI to round up your Constitution and Wisdom scores for more survivability. 

18. Rogue 11: Eleventh level rogues have Reliable Talent, meaning all your d20s will always roll at least a 10 when making checks you’re proficient in. You’re not bad at the things you’re good at, surprising I know.

19. Rogue 12: Use your last ASI to bump up your Charisma for stronger disguises. Wait, we’re done already?

20. Rogue 13: Our capstone level nets you the Imposter ability, allowing you to copy another creature perfectly if you spend three hours studying their speech, handwriting, and mannerisms. You also get advantage on deception checks to maintain the charade. Then it’s just a matter of time before you sink a poisoned sneak attack in their neck and vent out of electric.

Pros:

Rogues with sneak attacks are scary. Rogues with guaranteed crits on their sneak attacks are even scarier. Rogues that can reliably poison their guaranteed critical hit sneak attacks are seriously bad news. You can do some serious damage if you get the drop on someone, is what I’m trying to say here.

Like all Hassans, this build is pretty mobile, with 45 feet of running and climbing speed, ridiculous hops, and a smaller size to squeeze into places other races can’t follow.

When you’re not dealing absurd damage, you can deal plenty of status effects too. Poison, stun, charm, it’s all yours to deal out as you wish!

Cons:

Poisoning things isn’t good. Even ignoring the fact that you’re eating up a bonus action to add some damage to one attack (even rangers get a better deal than that) plenty of creatures in the monster manual are immune to poison anyway. Thankfully you’re not completely defenseless, since your sneak attack doesn’t care what kind of damage it deals. All the coolest poisons are hidden in the dungeon master’s guide anyway.

Grung are a lot of things, but masters of disguise is not one of them. Your size means your ability to use Disguise Self is severely limited, and any nonmagical disguises will have their work cut out for them. Disguising yourself as a different grung won’t help much, they’ll still track you down because you’re probably the only other grung they’ve seen in town.

Just going to come out and say it- your magic isn’t nearly as powerful as it needs to be to be reliably used for disguises. Fortunately very few people bother investing in Investigation, but it can still be a serious issue when your spell save dc is around 14 for most of the game.
