I’ve loved bjds from afar for a really long time and I finally bought a doll but it’s a recast. I wasn’t fully aware of how bad recasts were and didn’t even know about DOA or any of the proper names for anything until like last year. The doll I bought is a weird case where (the head at least, his body is almost certainly recast from 5th motif venitu) is an original sculpt that was sent by the artist to a recaster who now sells it. I love him a lot and I’m not getting rid of him, and I’ll definitely avoid any recasts in the future, but now I’m a little afraid to engage in the BJD community at all because of this mistake because I don’t want to be ostracized. I know now how intense anti recast sentiment is and I get it now, but now I feel like I have a skeleton in my closet about it because I still want to share him.

I got my venitu head yesterday and i’m so happy! he’s so pretty! that nose is to die for! i never thought i’d own my grail sculpt, but here we are!

i tested out a pair of extra eyes i had, mostly to see what size he should have. these are 12mm with high dome, and the fit is pretty bad. i tried a pair of low dome 12mm too, but they didn’t fit very well either. i’m thinking a pair of oval 12 or 14mm would be better. anyone have any tips on size/shape?
