I Hate How She Talks About Snow White
"People are making these jokes about ours being the PC Snow White, where it's like, yeah, it is â because it needed that. It's an 85-year-old cartoon, and our version is a refreshing story about a young woman who has a function beyond 'Someday My Prince Will Come. "
Let me tell you a little something's about that "85-year-old cartoon," miss Zegler.
It was the first-ever cel-animated feature-length full-color film. Ever. Ever. EVER. I'm worried that you're not hearing me. This movie was Disney inventing the modern animated film. Spirited Away, Into the Spider-Verse, Tangled, you don't get to have any of these without Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937.)
Speaking of what you wouldn't get without this movie, it includes anime as a genre. Not just in technique (because again, nobody animated more than shorts before this movie) but in style and story. Anime, as it is now, wouldn't exist without Osamu Tezuka, "The God of Manga," who wouldn't have pioneered anime storytelling in the 1940s without having watched and learned from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in the 1930s. No "weeb" culture, no Princess Mononoke, no DragonBall Z, no My Hero Academia, no Demonslayer, and no Naruto without this "85-year-old cartoon."
It was praised, not just for its technical marvels, not just for its synchronized craft of sound and action, but primarily and enduringly because people felt like the characters were real. They felt more like they were watching something true to life than they did watching silent, live-action films with real actors and actresses. They couldn't believe that an animated character could make kids wet their pants as she flees, frightened, through the forest, or grown adults cry with grieving Dwarves. Consistently.
Walt Disney Studios was built on this movie. No no; you're not understanding me. Literally, the studio in Burbank, out of which has come legends of this craft of animated filmmaking, was literally built on the incredible, odds-defying, record-breaking profits of just Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, specifically.
Speaking of record-breaking profits, this movie is the highest-grossing animated film in history. Still. TO THIS DAY. And it was made during the Great Depression.
In fact, it made four times as much money than any other film, in any other genre, released during that time period. It was actually THE highest-grossing film of all time, in any genre, until nothing less than Gone With the Wind, herself, came along to take the throne.
It was the first-ever animated movie to be selected for the National Film Registry. Actually, it was one of the first movies, period, to ever go into the registry at all. You know what else is in the NFR? The original West Side Story, the remake of which is responsible for Rachel Ziegler's widespread fame.
Walt Disney sacrificed for this movie to be invented. Literally, he took out a mortgage on his house and screened the movie to banks for loans to finish paying for it, because everyone from the media to his own wife and brother told him he was crazy to make this movie. And you want to tell me it's just an 85-year-old cartoon that needs the most meaningless of updates, with your tender 8 years in the business?
Speaking of sacrifice, this movie employed over 750 people, and they worked immeasurable hours of overtime, and invented--literally invented--so many new techniques that are still used in filmmaking today, that Walt Disney, in a move that NO OTHER STUDIO IN HOLLYWOOD was doing in the 30's, put this in the opening credits: "My sincere appreciation to the members of my staff whose loyalty and creative endeavor made possible this production." Not the end credits, like movies love to do today as a virtue-signal. The opening credits.
It's legacy endures. Your little "85-year-old cartoon" sold more than 1 million DVD copies upon re-release. Just on its first day. The Beatles quoted Snow White in one of their songs. Legacy directors call it "the greatest film ever made." Everything from Rolling Stones to the American Film Institute call this move one of the most influential masterpieces of our culture. This movie doesn't need anything from anybody. This movie is a cultural juggernaut for America. It's a staple in the art of filmmaking--and art, in general. It is the foundation of the Walt Disney Company, of modern children's media in the West, and of modern adaptations of classical fairy tales in the West. When you think only in the base, low, mean terms of "race" and "progressivism" you start taking things that are actually worlds-away from being in your league to judge, and you relegate them to silly ignorant phrases like "85-year-old cartoon" to explain why what you're doing is somehow better.
Sit down and be humble. Who the heck are you?

Hi folks,
Sorry I have to write this because I was really hoping I wouldn't. Some of you might have read me venting about boiler issues over the past 6-7 months.
Basically, our boiler was condemned by our insurance company who said they would no longer repair it, and they could offer us an *incredible* ÂŁ750 towards a new boiler if we used a specific supplier. This supplier wanted to charge us ÂŁ5,500 for the job, and we, naturally, didn't have ÂŁ4,750 lying around to spend. So we tried British Gas who came and gave us a quote...again for over ÂŁ5000 because we'd need to pay for scaffolding, and this time without the ÂŁ750 towards it from the insurance. Since then our boiler has started actively leaking and my mornings start with emptying the bucket that sits underneath. As a hail Mary I tried another local supplier this week who visited us yesterday. He's quoted us for a replacement boiler at ÂŁ2500 which is arguably much more manageable. Through saving up and some extremely generous donations when I first ranted about the boiler, we've managed to save ÂŁ1000. We were hoping that Home Energy Scotland would be able to provide a loan to cover the remaining ÂŁ1500, but they have changed their policy to exclude gas boilers, and they ruled we weren't eligible for the Warmer Home Scotland fund as we don't receive benefits. I know it's the worst time of year to ask because it's an expensive time, but if any of you happen to need anything read to you by a Scottish guy or want your Scottish character's dialogue checked, please consider commissioning me on Ko-Fi.
You can, of course, also do one-off donations or even monthly support on Ko-Fi but I like being able to offer something in return.

John Laurens â battle orders
Deep-diving into archives has produced another fascinating document, and one that I haven't seen referenced or quoted anywhere else â a set of instructions written by John Laurens that spell out orders to troops under his command.
The document (which is held by the Chicago History Museum) is undated, but I'm fairly certain that this was written for the assault on Redoubt 10 at Yorktown. The orders are a close match for what we know about the battle plan â silent approach, close-quarters engagement with bayonets, fording water (presumably the moat). Another clue is that the text mentions "the illustrious Example" of the Marquis de BouillĂŠ, a French officer who was active in the West Indian theatre and had executed a number of daring attacks on British holdings there between 1778 and 1782. BouillĂŠ defeating a British garrison during the May-June 1781 invasion and capture of Tobago is perhaps the action that Laurens is referencing, though the troop numbers don't really match (nor do they really match any of BoiullĂŠ's other engagements).
I'd love to hear any other theories!
The full text is below the cut, with reference to the words I couldn't make out.

It has now been some 36 hours since Gaza Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar issued a statement aboutthe war in Gaza - his first such statement since the war began.
As mentioned previously, his statement was filled with obvious lies combined with bravado - claiming that Hamas s attacked about 5,000 Israeli soldiers, âa third of them died, a third were seriously injured and the last third was permanently disable." he also claimed Hamas destroyed 750 armored IDF vehicles.
How has the mainstream media covered these statements?
For the most part, they remain ignored. The live coverage sites of the New York Times, AP, CNN and NBC News did not think that a statement from Hamas' leader and mastermind of the October 7 attacks was worth mentioning.
The media that did cover it generally buried his lies.Â
The Telegraph wrote "He falsely claimed that his terrorist forces had killed more than a thousand Israeli soldiers. According to Israel, 156 soldiers have died in the ground operation in Gaza."
Other second-tier media simply quoted other sources, like WION quoting the Times of Israel's report. The Hindustan Times reported Sinwar's claims alongside Israel's count of soldiers who fell, without opining on which is more accurate.Â
The theme seems to be that the Gaza Hamas government is trustworthy when making up casualty figures, but when they say things that are provable lies, then it is just Arabs being Arabs and it is not worth taking seriously or even calling attention to them.Â
There are two main themes for Hamas: Jew-hatred and deception. October 7 showed that they are experts at both. And they know that the media is reluctant to emphasize either one of those themes.
Which is why they are so effective.

268: Laxmikant-Pyarelal // Dosti

Dosti Laxmikant-Pyarelal 1964, Angel
Composing partners Laxmikant Shantaram Kudalkar and Pyarelal Ramprasad Sharma worked together for 35 years and, per Hindustan Times, composed about 2,900 songs for 750 different films during that spanâa level of productivity basically unfathomable outside of the specific context of the insanely prolific Bollywood studio system. 1966âs Dosti soundtrack was their artistic and commercial breakthrough, and as such it occupies a significant place in Indian music history. Iâve never seen the film, though its cover features two crying boys hugging so it may be up my alley. The Wikipedia synopsis makes it sound like a melodrama without parallel (aside from several hundred others made by Bollywood that same year). The movie opens with a boyâs father dying in an industrial catastrophe, his mother fainting and falling down the stairs (to her death), and then the boy getting disabled in an accident of his own. He then makes friends with a homeless blind boy, and the two chums are then rigorously wedgied by life itself for the next three hours until a happy ending imposes itself.
youtube
Working with lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri (a notable leftist poet), Laxmikant-Pyarelalâs songs are strongly credited with Dostiâs enduring success, and while Iâm neither an expert in their oeuvre nor Bollywood music as a whole, I can tell you this is beautiful music any fan of adventurous vintage pop should adore. The songs all strike my ear as happy, but with a tear welling in their eyes. Itâs more subtle stuff than I associate with contemporary Bollywood: âGudiya Kab Tak Na Hasogyâ twinkles and minces to a gentle dance rhythm, leaving room for soulful flute and harmonium (or accordion?) solos and the melancholy lilt of a mandolin. Both members of the duo had a strong education in Western and Indian classical music, and these sentimental songs find the sweet spot between the traditions, with vigorous tabla rhythms and droning strings meeting melodies that evoke spaghetti western scores (âJanewalo Zaraâ) or practically quote âOde to Joyâ (âRahi Manwaâ).
It was the convention at the time for a reliable cadre of vocalists to dub over the singing voices of the lead actors, and Laxmikant-Pyarelal established long-standing relationships with their favourites. Dosti features two of their standbys, with Mohammed Rafi handling five of the six songs on the 10â soundtrack I own, and Lata Mangeshkar taking the other. Both absolute legends on the subcontinent, while Rafi and Mangeshkar were each well into adulthood by the time they recorded these songs they give such naively haloed performances that if you can squint (your ears?) just a little itâs easy to imagine they might have originated from the lips of children.
The scope of my expertise in this area is extremely limited, but if itâs not clear, Dosti gets my highest recommendation. If you should come across a â60s record with the Laxmikant-Pyarelal imprimatur at your local used shop, give it a shot.

My top surgery countdown widget ticked down to 8 days and I went OH GOD out loud. That's so soon!!!!!!!!!! It was literally 25 days like yesterday what the hell
:vibrates: like I feel like I have so much to do still but not as much time as id like to do it
I need to go to the grocery store, and rearrange my exotics tanks so I can reach all of them more easily during recovery with my no lifting rule (currently I can barely reach the bottom of Philips tank without contorting myself. Imagining doing so with t Rex surgery arms is not fun). Meal prep with my grocery store foods. Clean the pantry out. Do laundry. Buy some trash sheets for my bed so I don't mess my nice Minecraft sheets up. Fucktuple check my recovery checklists. AAAAAAAAAAAAA
I have waited well over a decade for this. Even before I actualized that I was trans, I knew I'd want a breast reduction at the minimum. It's scary because I've never had real surgery before and I know recovery won't be a cakewalk but I'm so done having boobs. So done having severe nip pain. So ready to look how I feel. God it will all be so worth it
Still don't know how much this will cost. My case worker quoted me at "between $750 and $3000" which 3k is way less than I expected it to be, so I'm already happy there. And kaiser does payment plans for big bills so I can pay it off over time, I don't need the cash up front. And since it's summer I won't miss any work, unless I decide to take week 6 of the recovery off work and miss the first week of school. I have enough sick pay that it won't matter financially but my job is one where it's not very good to miss work especially the first week after a break. Luckily I think I'll be okay to return to work after 5 weeks of recovery, but I won't really know until I'm recovered lol!

Law Firm Pricing Models: What Clients Want (And How to Talk About It)

Talking about pricing in law can feel awkward. But here's the truth: clients care more about clarity and control than about rock-bottom rates. And in a world where legal services are increasingly compared like any other purchase, how you present your pricing matters just as much as what you charge.
Letâs break down the common pricing models, why clients respond to them differently, and how law firms can communicate their value with less jargon and more trust.
Why Pricing Transparency Matters More Than Ever
Legal services have always carried a bit of mystery. Billable hours. Surprise invoices. "Scope creep." But modern clients â whether businesses or individuals â want predictability.
In fact, unclear pricing is one of the biggest reasons clients feel anxious about engaging a lawyer.
"Will I be charged for every five-minute phone call?"
"What happens if the case takes longer than expected?"
"Why is this invoice three times what I was told?"
The good news? You donât have to be the cheapest. You just need to be clear.
Common Law Firm Pricing Models (and What They Really Mean for Clients)
1. Hourly Billing
This is the traditional approach. Clients pay for the time spent, usually in six-minute increments.
Pros:
Simple for lawyers to track.
Flexible if the scope changes frequently.
Cons (from a client perspective):
Feels unpredictable.
Can create tension over time spent vs. value delivered.
Real-world example: A small business owner hires a lawyer to help draft a contract. They're quoted $400/hr, but have no idea how long it'll take. After a few emails and edits, the final bill is double what they expected. They feel blindsided.
2. Fixed Fees
One upfront price for a clearly defined service.
Pros:
Clients love the certainty.
Great for repeatable work like wills, leases, or straightforward applications.
Cons:
Can be risky if the matter becomes unexpectedly complex.
Real-world example: Someone going through an uncontested divorce knows they'll pay $2,500 from start to finish. No surprises. That peace of mind? Invaluable.
3. Retainers
Clients pay an upfront amount to cover a lawyer's availability or future services.
Pros:
Helpful for ongoing relationships (e.g. businesses).
Gives clients consistent access to legal advice.
Cons:
Can be confusing if the retainer isn't well-defined.
4. Subscription Models
A newer twist: law firms offer monthly packages covering a set range of services.
Pros:
Predictable for both sides.
Encourages proactive advice instead of reactive firefighting.
Cons:
Requires clear boundaries on inclusions and limits.
Scenario: A startup pays $750/month for basic legal support, templates, and quick advice. It feels like having in-house counsel â without the big salary.
5. Contingency or No Win, No Fee
Used mainly in personal injury or compensation cases. The lawyer is paid only if the client wins.
Pros:
Low-risk for clients.
Aligns interests between lawyer and client.
Cons:
Can create pressure to settle early.
Often comes with a higher percentage fee if successful.
How to Talk About Your Pricing (Without Sounding Salesy)
Pricing isnât just a line in a brochure. Itâs part of your law firmâs story. And how you explain it affects trust, satisfaction, and ultimately, referrals.
Hereâs how to make that conversation easier and more effective:
Use plain English
Instead of "costs will accrue on a time-cost basis," try:
"We charge by the hour, but weâll always keep you updated so there are no nasty surprises."
Offer context, not just numbers
Say:
"This fixed fee covers everything from the first meeting through to final lodgement. If anything unexpected pops up, weâll always chat before thereâs any extra cost."
Anticipate concerns
Explain what happens if things change:
"If something pushes the scope outside the agreed fee, weâll talk before moving ahead. You wonât get a mystery invoice."
Show the value, not just the price
Help people see what theyâre getting, not just what theyâre paying:
"Youâre not just paying for paperwork. Youâre paying for peace of mind, and knowing itâs been done properly."
Marketing Your Pricing Without Undermining Your Value
Clients arenât just comparing costs. Theyâre comparing confidence.
Hereâs how to market your pricing model in a way that builds trust rather than raising eyebrows:
1. Put your pricing approach on your website
You donât have to publish exact rates. But say how you charge. It removes one of the biggest barriers to contact.
2. Create service bundles
Group common services with fixed prices where possible. It helps people quickly understand what they need.
3. Use testimonials or scenarios
Let past clients explain how your pricing made them feel supported, not taken advantage of.
4. Educate, donât just advertise
Blog about how legal pricing works. Help clients understand why different models exist. It positions your firm as transparent and trustworthy.
5. Avoid buzzwords
Clients donât care if itâs a "value-based pricing model". They care if it makes sense.
Itâs Not About Being the Cheapest
Legal work is deeply personal. When someone hires a lawyer, theyâre handing over their worries, their finances, sometimes their future.
Clear, fair pricing helps reduce fear and build trust. And thatâs worth more than a discounted rate.
Thinking About Your Law Firm Marketing?
Pricing isnât separate from your brand. It is your brand. Whether you use fixed fees or flexible retainers, how you communicate that pricing is a key part of effective law firm marketing.
Start by asking: Does our pricing make people feel safer? Or more confused?
FAQ: Common Questions About Law Firm Pricing Models
Do clients prefer fixed fees over hourly billing? Yes, especially for predictable tasks. Fixed fees reduce anxiety and help clients plan ahead.
Is subscription pricing really viable for small law firms? It can be. Especially for business clients needing ongoing support. The key is clear boundaries.
Should a law firm publish pricing online? Even a general guide is better than nothing. It builds trust and reduces hesitation to contact you.
Can different pricing models be used together? Absolutely. Many firms use fixed fees for some services and hourly for more complex matters.

RERA Carpet Area vs Built-Up & Super Built-Up â Real Estate Guide
Introduction â Understanding Property Area Terms in Real Estate
When you start searching for your dream home, you will see terms like carpet area, built-up area, and super built-up area everywhere. These are not just fancy real estate wordsâthey are important details that tell you how much space you are actually getting inside the flat. Many homebuyers get confused because builders often mention big numbers that include areas you cannot really use. If you donât understand these terms, you might end up paying more for less space. This guide will help you clearly understand these property area terms so you can make the right home-buying decision.
What is RERA Carpet Area?
The RERA carpet area is the total usable floor space inside your home where you can place your furniture and walk around comfortably. According to the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA), the carpet area is measured from the inside of the walls and does not include the thickness of the walls, balconies, or common areas. It is the most honest way to measure your home because it tells you exactly how much space you can use. Builders are now legally required to sell homes based on the RERA carpet area, making home-buying more transparent for everyone.
What is Built-Up Area?
The built-up area is larger than the carpet area because it includes the space covered by the walls and sometimes the balcony. It is the total construction area of the flat. This means that the built-up area includes the carpet area plus the area occupied by internal and external walls, and sometimes half of the balcony space. In the past, many builders quoted prices based on built-up area to show bigger numbers, but this did not give a true picture of the space you could actually use.
What is Super Built-Up Area?
The super built-up area includes everything: the carpet area, the walls, the balcony, and the common areas such as the lobby, staircase, lifts, parking areas, garden, clubhouse, and sometimes even the gym. This is also known as the "saleable area." Builders used to highlight this number because it appeared larger and made the flat look like a better deal. However, the super built-up area is not your personal spaceâit includes parts of the building that are shared by all residents. This is why it is always better to check the carpet area first.
Difference Between RERA Carpet Area, Built-Up Area, and Super Built-Up Area
The difference between these three terms is very simple. The RERA carpet area is the actual space you can use inside your flat. The built-up area includes the carpet area plus the walls and sometimes the balcony. The super built-up area adds common spaces like the lobby, lifts, and staircases to the built-up area. For example:
Carpet Area: 600 sq. ft. (actual usable area)
Built-Up Area: 750 sq. ft. (carpet area + walls + balcony)
Super Built-Up Area: 1000 sq. ft. (built-up area + common spaces)
So, when you compare flats, always focus on the RERA carpet area because that is your true living space.
Why RERA Carpet Area is More Reliable for Buyers
The RERA carpet area is the most reliable and trustworthy measure for homebuyers. It shows you the exact space you will live in, without adding walls or common areas. Before RERA was introduced, many builders confused buyers by selling flats based on super built-up area. This made people think they were getting more space than they actually were. Today, thanks to RERA, builders must clearly mention the carpet area in all advertisements and sale agreements. This protects buyers from paying for spaces they will never personally use and helps people make better decisions.
How Property Prices Are Calculated Based on Different Area Types
When you buy a flat, the price per square foot can change based on whether the builder is charging you based on carpet area, built-up area, or super built-up area. If the price is âš20,000 per sq. ft., hereâs how it works:
Carpet Area: 600 sq. ft. â âš1.2 Cr
Built-Up Area: 750 sq. ft. â âš1.5 Cr
Super Built-Up Area: 1000 sq. ft. â âš2 Cr
This means that the total cost of the flat increases if itâs based on built-up or super built-up area even though your usable space remains the same. Thatâs why carpet area pricing is more transparent and fair for homebuyers.
Common Mistakes Buyers Make When Understanding Property Area
Many buyers make the mistake of focusing on the total size instead of checking the carpet area. Sometimes people see large numbers and think they are getting a spacious flat, but most of that size is actually shared space. Some buyers also forget to ask for the detailed layout plan, which shows the exact carpet area of the flat. Another common mistake is trusting the price without understanding whether itâs based on carpet area or super built-up area. To avoid these mistakes, always ask the builder to give the RERA carpet area in writing and check the projectâs RERA registration details.

Conclusion â Always Check Carpet Area Before Buying a Flat
When buying a flat, remember that the most important number is the carpet area because that is the real space you will live in. Do not be impressed by big super built-up area numbers because you wonât be using that extra space. Understanding the difference between carpet area, built-up area, and super built-up area will help you compare flats better and protect you from overpaying. A smart buyer always asks for the RERA carpet area and checks all the documents carefully. This will ensure you get the best value for your money and a home that truly meets your expectations.

How to Sell Gold Jewelry Without Getting Scammed
Protect Your Precious Metals and Get the Best Value â A Complete Guide
Are you looking to sell gold jewelry but unsure how to avoid scams? Youâre not alone. With gold prices reaching all-time highs, scammers and dishonest buyers are more active than ever. Whether youâre selling a family heirloom, broken pieces, or just unwanted gold jewelry, knowing how to protect yourself is essential.
In this humanized guide, weâll walk you through how to sell gold jewelry without getting scammed, step by step. Weâll also introduce you to Shemesh Goud in Belgium, a trusted local store where you can sell safely and confidently.
â
Quick Answer (for Zero-Click and Voice Search)
How can I sell gold jewelry without getting scammed? To avoid scams when selling gold jewelry, always research the buyerâs reputation, get multiple appraisals, understand your goldâs value (weight and karat), check for hidden fees, and use trusted, transparent stores like Shemesh Goud in Belgium. Avoid pawn shops and buyers who pressure you into quick sales.
Why So Many Get Scammed When Selling Gold Jewelry
Selling gold might seem simple, but the process is filled with traps:
Unethical buyers who offer far below the market value
Pawn shops that prey on desperate sellers
Mail-in gold services that "lose" your items
Online scams with fake websites and no contact information
Scammers know that most people donât understand the value of their jewelry or how gold pricing works. But with the right knowledge and a little preparation, you can sell gold jewelry confidentlyâand profitably.
Step-by-Step: How to Sell Gold Jewelry Safely
Letâs break down the process in a simple, practical way.
1. Know the Value of Your Gold
Before speaking to any buyer, understand what you own.
â Check the Karat
24K = pure gold
18K = 75% gold
14K = 58.5% gold
10K = 41.7% gold
Look for small stamps on your jewelry (e.g., â18Kâ or â750â).
â Weigh Your Jewelry
Gold is priced per gram. Use a digital kitchen scale if you have one. Separate non-gold pieces and remove stones (if you can).
â Know the Market Price
Visit websites like Shemeshgoud to check the live gold rate. Multiply the gold content (in grams) by the purity percentage to estimate the value.
đĄ Example: 10 grams of 18K gold = 10g Ă 0.75 = 7.5g pure gold.
2. Get Multiple Quotes
Never settle for the first offer. Visit at least 2-3 reputable gold buyers.
đĄ Local Store vs. Pawn Shop
Local gold buyers (like Shemesh Goud) offer transparency and fair pricing.
Pawn shops typically offer much less and are rarely upfront about pricing.
đĄ Ask the Right Questions:
âWhat price per gram are you offering today?â
âDo you charge any testing or melting fees?â
âCan I watch the weighing and testing process?â
3. Use a Trusted Buyer Like Shemesh Goud
We highly recommend Shemesh Goud in Antwerp, Belgium, if you want a secure, honest experience. They offer:
Free appraisals
Transparent pricing based on current market rates
No hidden fees
Immediate payout
Personalized service from certified professionals
Their in-store experts walk you through the valuation and buying process so you feel informed every step of the way.
đVisit Shemesh Goud: https://shemeshgoud.be/
4. Avoid Mail-In Services Unless Trusted
While some mail-in services are legit, many sellers report issues like:
Lost items
Delayed payments
Insultingly low offers
No way to get your items back
If you do choose to mail your gold, ensure:
The service is insured
You receive a detailed receipt.
You can reject the offer and get your gold back.
There are real reviews from verified customers
Still, in-person evaluations at trusted local stores like Shemesh Goud are the safest.
5. Watch Out for These Scams
â High-Pressure Tactics
Scammers often say, âThis offer is only good for the next 10 minutes.â Walk away from pressure.
â âFree Testingâ That Destroys Your Jewelry
Some shady buyers damage your item during testing, making it unsellable elsewhere.
â Bait-and-Switch Scams
Youâre quoted one price online, but given a lower amount in person âdue to hidden damage.â Always get appraisals in writing and compare.
How to Choose the Right Buyer: Checklist
â
Must-Have Qualities
â Red Flags to Avoid
Licensed and transparent
No physical address or contact info
Real customer reviews
Pushy or unclear sales tactics
Offers to test and weigh in front of you
Charges "testing" fees after appraisal
Pays based on live gold prices
Offers suspiciously high or low rates
Allows walk-ins and appointments
No returns or refunds on declined offers
Selling Gold Jewelry FAQs
đš How can I tell if a gold buyer is trustworthy?
Look for licensing, in-person service, and verified reviews. Reputable buyers like Shemesh Goud offer full transparency.
đš Should I remove gemstones before selling gold jewelry?
If your buyer only pays for gold, yes. Gemstones typically arenât valued unless you sell to a jeweler.
đš Do I have to pay taxes when I sell gold?
In Belgium, casual personal gold sales are generally not taxed. Always consult a tax expert for large transactions.
đš Can I sell broken or old gold jewelry?
Absolutely. Gold value comes from the metal, not the condition. Even broken pieces can be valuable.
đš Will I get paid immediately?
Reputable gold buyers like Shemesh Goud provide instant payment via cash or bank transfer.
Pro Tips for First-Time Sellers
Photograph your items before handing them over.
Bring ID â most reputable buyers require identification.
Avoid emotional sales â selling heirlooms can be difficult. Take your time.
Ask for a written quote if you need time to think.
Be wary of traveling gold buyers (pop-up shops) who disappear quickly.

Understand your jewelryâs real value
Compare offers confidently

DALLAS POLICE DEPARTMENT Officer accused of kicking in a door
Woman says she feared for her safety after breaking up with him
Police Officer Austin Garza, #12400,
In October, a woman dialed 911 to report that her boyfriend, a Dallas police officer, became so enraged as she tried to end their relationship that he kicked in the front door of her Glenn Heights home, according to newly obtained records reviewed by The Dallas Morning News.
The woman told police she feared for her safety and wanted to press charges.
Her boyfriend, she told them, had a history of âanger issues,â acted impulsively when upset and had assaulted her in the past, an officer wrote in an incident report.
The boyfriend, identified as Austin Garza, now 31, was off duty at the time.
He was arrested more than two weeks later on one count of criminal mischief causing damage totaling between $750 and $2,500, a Class A misdemeanor.
An attorney for the Dallas Police Association did not confirm Tuesday whether they were representing Garza.
Attempts to reach Garza for comment through email and a phone number listed in public records were unsuccessful.
The newly released documents provide the most detailed account yet of the alleged incident, which resulted in Garza being placed on administrative leave from the Dallas Police Department.
He is now facing a Class A misdemeanor â a charge that, if he is convicted or enters a plea deal without downgrading the charge, could put his peace officer license in jeopardy.
Dallas police disclosed the Oct. 28 arrest the same day and the charge faced by Garza but did not publicly detail the circumstances of the alleged offense.
At the time, Glenn Heights police declined to comment or provide additional information, directing a reporter to submit a request for records under the Texas Public Information Act.
Dallas police said Garza was placed on administrative leave as an internal affairs investigation was underway.
The investigation remained pending, Officer Jennifer Pryor, a police spokesperson, said in a statement Wednesday.
Glenn Heights police were called about 5:15 p.m. Oct. 10 to the home.
Dispatch told an officer that the caller was âbreathing rapidly, crying and very upsetâ and âsounded scared,â one officer wrote in the incident report obtained by The News.
The woman told police she had been trying to end the relationship with Garza when an argument broke out.
She asked him to leave, and after he stepped outside, she locked the door behind him.
Garza then kicked the door before leaving in a pickup, according to the report.
An officer noted a shoe print on the door and broken pieces of wood, trim and screws scattered across the floor âas a result of the forced entry,â with a âlarge pieceâ of the broken door frame found in the hall inside, the report says.
The News does not typically name alleged victims of abuse.
Attempts to reach the woman were unsuccessful.
The woman told police that Garza had assaulted her before and said she feared he would do it again.
She said Garza had shoved her once.
On other occasions, he had grabbed her and squeezed her arms with such force that it left bruises, the report says.
The alleged incidents described by the woman were not reported to police, the officer wrote in the report.
The woman provided police with screenshots of text messages she and Garza exchanged after Oct. 10.
In messages sent on Oct. 12, Garza apologized for the incident and asked how he could wire her money to cover the repair of the door.
The woman replied that they would not get back together and told him she did not want to see or communicate with him again.
The cost to repair the door was estimated at $788.69, according to a quote included in the documents.
Garza wired $400 to the woman to put toward the work, the text messages show.

Secure a Personal Loan with Low Interest Rates in India

Obtaining a personal loan with a low interest rate is the first choice for most people in India who want to borrow funds for any reason, such as consolidating debts, purchasing a home appliance, or covering unexpected bills. The interest rate is the major factor that determines the cost of borrowing, and getting low interest personal loans can be a huge change when you think of the money you pay back over a long period. Today, in this article, we will show you the way to obtain a personal loan with low interest rates in India, as well as some of the most popular low interest personal loans.
What Are Low Interest Personal Loans?
A low interest personal loan is a loan that charges a relatively lower interest rate than the typical rate for personal loans in India. The interest rate is the rate at which the lender charges interest on the amount borrowed, and the lower the rate, the less money one pays for interest over the term of the loan.
In India, personal loan interest rates usually are between 10% and 25% annually, based on your credit score and the financier. Availing a low interest personal loan is possible to meet your expenses while keeping your expenses in check without loading yourself with high repayment costs.
How to Get a Personal Loan with a Low Interest Rate in India
Getting a personal loan with low interest rates in India involves knowing the determinants of loan rates and doing some preparatory work. Here's how you can raise your chances of obtaining a loan at the lowest interest rate available.
1. Check Your Credit Score
One of the largest determinants of the personal loan interest rate in India is your credit score. Your credit score is used by lenders to decide how risky it is to lend to you. The higher your score, the less risky you are, and lenders might give you a low interest personal loan.
To enhance your prospects, get your credit score checked prior to taking a loan. In India, a credit score of 750 and above is generally considered good and will qualify you for lowest interest rate personal loans. If your score is below this, work towards increasing it by settling pending debts or clearing any errors in your credit report.
2. Compare Loan Offers from Various Lenders
Interest rates differ with lenders in India, and thus one needs to compare quotes prior to selecting a loan. There are different banks and financial institutions such as private sector banks, public sector banks, and NBFCs (Non-Banking Financial Companies) offering different interest rates.
Search for lowest interest rate personal loan by comparing rates from top financial institutions. Most online loan aggregators enable you to compare personal loan interest rates conveniently. Ensure you also compare the loan terms, charges, and repayment terms to get the best offer.
3. Choose a Shorter Loan Term
The term of your loan can have a big impact on your interest rate. Short-term personal loans in India usually have lower interest rates than longer terms. Your payments might be larger each month, but you will pay less in interest over the course of the loan.
For instance, if you borrow âš5,00,000 for a period of 3 years with an interest of 11%, you will be paying much less interest compared to taking a loan for 5 years at the same interest rate.
4. Look into Secured Personal Loans
If you possess assets like a property or fixed deposit, you can take a secured personal loan. Secured loans in India tend to have lower interest rates than unsecured loans. This is due to the fact that the lender has the security of the collateral, which means that they face less risk.
For example, you can take your Fixed Deposit (FD) as collateral to obtain a low interest personal loan. In case you are not in a position to repay the loan, the bank can sell off the collateral to recover the loan amount.
5. Check for Special Offers and Discounts
Most lenders in India provide one-time interest rate cuts or offers at intervals. This may either be in terms of lower rates of interest or concessions on the processing fees so that you are able to enjoy a low-interest personal loan at your convenience. Be on the lookout for such offer periods, particularly during the festive season or new year deals, when the lenders usually roll out attractive proposals.
Besides, there are lenders that will charge you a lower interest rate if you consent to automatic debit of your bank account, which will also reduce your overall cost of repayment.
6. Look for the Best Loan Offers Online
Online lending platforms and online lenders have gained popularity in India. These online lending platforms usually provide competitive rates of interest on personal loans with low interest due to their less overhead cost. Some popular ones are banks such as HDFC, ICICI, and online lenders such as ZestMoney and MoneyTap.
Taking a loan online is usually able to provide you with better rates due to the efficient application process, and the ease of comparing quotes without having to enter a physical branch.

Monster In the Middle
Hello, Hello! Here is the next installment in my series of drabbles, headcannons and one shots about Dad!Sukuna!
For more adventures with Mouse and Dad!Sukuna, check out my Daddy Duty Series on my AO3 - Here! )
Authors note: Okay⌠Look, I know when I started this whole Daddy Duty series I swore there would be no running story but lets face it⌠now that we named her (Mouse), we have to keep her. So what do you guys say to more adventures in Mouse's Mini-verse?
If you prefer to read on AO3 click here !
Summary: Sukuna has long since grown accustomed to being woken out of his sleep by any number of things. However, this is a first. His position has been usurped, and by none other than his 2 year old daughter.
WC: 750+
CW: Reader is referred to as Mama but not described, toddler dad Sukuna, girl dad!sukuna, true form Sukuna (4 arms), it's pretty much just plain Dilf Sukuna fluff and crack, he thinks she got the sass from you but he's pretty damn sassy if you ask me...
Since the first time Sukuna allowed himself to sleep beside you, he had become accustomed to waking up in a state of confusion. It occurred even more often now that his daughter was an expert at escaping wherever she was put to sleep. (He was pretty sure they couldn't build a prison that would be able to keep her inside at this point. Handy when she was older, frustrating as a toddler.)
The first time he woke in confusion was that first morning he woke up to the weight and warmth of you in his arms. The second time was confusion at your kissing him all over his face because you said (a direct quote etched into his brain forever) that he looked âbeautiful.â How could a seasoned and feared warrior with his unique body traits ever forget someone calling him beautiful and meaning it with true sincerity in their eyes and heart?
But not all wake ups were so sweet. He had woken up to you loudly doing things, seemingly just to get to him to wake up. (Many years later he knew it was unintentional. It was just that you were absolutely incapable of doing things quietly.) He had woken up to you shoving him away because of something he did in your dreams. He had woken up to you licking his nose, biting his arm, and many number of other things he couldn't remember now. But suffice it to say you kept his life interesting and your daughter followed in your footsteps.
But still, this was a first... Sukuna, the over 7 foot tall, 4 armed, 4 eyed menace to society, the King of Curses and Deadly Poisons, the strongest sorcerer in history and obviously the big damn spoon was currently displaced... usurped from his rightful position in his own damn bed.
Sukuna⌠had become the middle spoon.
You were spooned in his arms right where you were supposed to be. But Mouse had maneuvered herself during the night to currently be attached to the back of his neck and shoulders, drooling and snoring away, apparently making baby's first attempt at being the big spoon.
He carefully reached behind himself and removed the adorable goblin before setting her down in your arms. Impressed with himself for moving her without waking her, he settled back down to go back to sleep. But seconds later his revelry was shattered.Â
Tiny hands pushed at his arm and then his chest, giving him a stubborn but barely conscious glare. âMove Papa.â
âWhat did you say?â He asked softly, determined to at least not wake you.
âMove Papa, please,â she repeated, shoving again at his chest.
âThat wasn't what I meant, Mouse.âÂ
If Mouse was anything, she was determined. She clamored over you, carefully for a toddler, and used her feet too. She was on a mission and she was undeterred.Â
Sukuna gave up, scooting back just a little and letting her worm her way between the two of you. He watched as she settled down and closed her eyes. Spoiled rotten. That is what she was.Â
He gave a little chuckle and closed his eyes. Finally. He could get back to-
âPapa.âÂ
Are you fucking kidding me? âWhat?!â
âYou're doing it wrong,â his little girl said in a sleepy whine.
âWhat the hell are you talking about?â He stared at the back of his daughter's head with amazement. She definitely had inherited your audacity.Â
Her little hand reached back and fumbled around until she found his hand resting on your hip. She grabbed onto it and pulled at one of his large fingers with her tiny hand. He was about to say something when she rested his hand on your side so his arm was draped over her too.
âLike this, Papa.â She gave a big sigh as if the weight of the world was lifted off her shoulders. âLove you, PapaâŚâ
âAnd I you, little mouse,â he let out a soft chuckle.Â
He rearranged his hands so one remained on your side, his large arm draped over you both, keeping the two of you close. His now free hand ran fingers gently through his daughter's pink hair that matched his own. He laid a gentle kiss to the back of her tiny head before closing his eyes.
While so far it seemed that he had only contributed his pink hair to the tiny menace now sawing logs like a 60 year old man, but he loved her just as fiercely as he loved you. His precious little chaos gremlin. Perfect in every way. Just like you.

In order to correctly "read" and "replicate" the following screenshots and software - a software "homebuild" and technology "beta test" of mine - one must begin with the same hardware i.e. a Lenovo Thinkpad T430 Laptop with a partly functional keyboard - and an optional external keyboard that works (see photo).
