haha I'm as surprised as you are. I haven't regularly watched the show since my initial obsession as a 13 year old, but I started rewatching s1 this year and I can't fathom how anyone could hate Rose right off the bat, Billie Piper is so instantly likable and charismatic!

I think for some people it might be a response to the show's poor handling of Martha, like resenting that Rose got so much screen time and such a happy ending while Martha didn't get nearly the same treatment. I totally agree that Martha deserved way better, but it's never made me hate Rose. why pit two bad bitches against each other!!
