okay done crying my eyes out. btw have u ever thought about how dokja's trauma from his father carries through all of orv without ever being the main focus of it? it truly did all begin with a young boy being abused, but the story doesn't focus on the abuser. it focuses on love and sacrifice and the ways in which we survive and find others in a ruined world. even when the dokkaebi king takes on his father's shape, its short-lived - almost as a nod to what a reader would "expect" of the plot, to wrap everything up in a neat bow that calls back on the 'real' evil of the story. but the evil in orv is never any one being. its the world that made a young boy lose his mother to the prison system and that made him feel isolated and objectified by the media. the traumas that dokja actively struggles with are those tied in with love. his mother, his protagonist, his writer, his children- the point is that evil is boring and ordinary and always here, apocalypse or not. it's love and its flawed, human presentations that make us who we are and that permeate our every action and decision. and that's okay. that's love.

#fave spotting #patrick troughton #dial 999 #doctor who #classic doctor who #two #abc #key witness #1959 #as with other Dial 999 posts‚ the episode number and year of transmission are more in the way of educated guesses #tho two separate sources identify this as ep 26 so that's good enough for me #yes it's been a while‚ i got very distracted and wandered away from Dial 999 but I'm mopping it up now #this was a very pleasant surprise‚ not least because Pat had already made two appearances in the series: a minor role as a heavy in 1.5 and #an uncredited appearance as a tramp in 1.16 (both can be found if you follow the fave spotting tag) so i wasn't really expecting him to #turn up again. but he does! and he finally gets a real meaty part! he's the villain of the week‚ a criminal of vague occupation (he has #something to do with gambling? race tracks maybe? idk it kind of gets glossed over) but when his kid brother kills a rival and is easily #apprehended‚ Pat decides it's time to silence the witness... cue a tense cat and mouse as Pat and goon tail their mark as the police tail #them. genuinely one of the most enjoyable episodes of this funny little series i think‚ and a lot of that is down to Pat giving it his #all as a dangerous gangster. he lounges around in a dressing gown‚ he slaps his bro around‚ he jeers at the cops and he #threatens his lawyer with a watery sack grave. he's gone full villain! and it's delightful!

#zero escape #999 #9 hours 9 persons 9 doors #999 spoilers #ze 999 #this poll was originally gonna be ‘best door order playthru’ but that is WAY too long to put as choices #and it essentially asks what this is asking anyway #my choice is sub->knife->axe->safe->true #I could see an argument to wedge the coffin ending in before the safe ending and returning to true #if only for Santa’s ‘time to make a wish come true’ line be more at the front of the players mind #but that’s meh reasoning at best #I love the axe ending but I also like sub->safe->true and just dismissing the other endings #I think sub is so important to play thru ESPECIALLY get first because I think it sets the tone in its ending so so well #especially if you get the sub ending by choosing door 3 instead of 7/8 and then 2 #it very quickly and clearly shows off the protags cleverness and manipulation skills which come back again in the safe end #and then the ending itself being an Everyone Dies ending raises the stakes so much for ur next play thru #yes people die in other endings but this is EVERYONE #I personally think it’s good for tone #I really dislike the idea of people getting the safe ending first too #it reveals its hand SO early if you do - the antagonist of previous endings is just revealed #so if you get the knife or sub ending after the safe ending I think it ruins so much mystery #and I think a lot of scenes with Ace before the Safe ending are better when you don’t suspect him and see him as his Lame Dad persona #when u get Safe first and then keep playing with him after…idk u can still enjoy Lame Dad Ace but I think the betrayal hits harder #when u get Safe later after thinking u know about Ace outside of just the 6 door #but hey these are all my opinions - can’t wait to hear what others say :)#poll

One of my favorite character traits that Junpei has is how as much as he's protective and caring to his favorite people and impulsively jumps into danger to help others if he has an opportunity to without wanting anything in return and highly values the promises he makes he just seems to also always be more curious than he is sensible or empathetic, he gets so caught up on the horrors he sees but he has such a hard time looking away, he's right to analyze and be intrigued by the ninth man's remains but he stands around staring at it until he pukes, in the showers you can interact with the wall behind which lies "Snake's" corpse and he will pick up more details about it each time you click on it until he has to mentally rip himself away because it's not that he can't keep looking at it it's that he better look away and focus on getting out, and the way he talks to Clover about the body with every minutiae she wouldn't want to hear is like his brain connects faster to his mouth than it can connect to his sense of morality sometimes which I guess turned out to be a good thing in this one case or just good common sense in general like there's other minor things he blurts out at times, he's stated to not have tact be his strongest suit, he's insensitive on accident trying to fumble through interactions even if he's entirely confident on what he's saying he's soo sharp when he has a goal in mind but he's soo dense if he's trying to just exist my man is so traumatized and his brain always seems to default to taking the most of any given situation in as possible to desensitize himself instead of any other response and sometimes it pushes his mind to be so single mindedly entranced on not ending up that way too that he'll describe a mangled body in excruciating detail to a grieving relative even if that's his friend and even if he feels guilty about it immediately as soon as he catches up with what just left his mouth instead of staying in his thoughts

#I did it I made a post about Junpei without talking about the Kurashikis!!#I am... still doing that here in the tags because that's how this train of thought started but... akdhsk #like I just started thinking how even in the everything is fine and junepei still has the capacity to be a healthy couple AU in my head #he would still have moments™ like this #how he would make invasive little questions about uncomfortable things to reminisce about #not realize he's overstepping right away not deal in the best way with Akane's meltdowns if she's doing bad enough to have them #kind of like in door 3 as in still being touchy and stuff but nothing bad on purpose #nothing like pushing her around like I still can't believe he canonically does in zero tiem dilemma #but yeah basically that's it that's the post I like Junpei a lot despite not being as present in my every waking thought as other character #and I love this about him love that he isn't just completely heroic that he has to struggle a bit #he's a protagonist that feels so generic for the first few minutes but he's anything but the more you play #I love how No One in ze is a good flawless person the way stories usually portray #they have quirks and hang ups that they are capable of doubling down on or turning for the worse under circumstances that push them to #again not. really including zerotiemdillema on that one but you get what I mean #zero escape #zero escape spoilers #999 spoilers #junpei 999 #junpei tenmyouji #every character in this series who ultimately wants to do good has to struggle so much with the horrors around them and in themselves for i #and then there still aren't right simple answers and they still try for the slim possibility that things can be okay this time and I love i #escape room convention but it's a time loop

#im going thru old flipnotes i used to watch years ago and ouggghhg so many good ones #is twenty one pilots still popular.... do people still remember the TRNDSTTER and marble soda meme.........#its like im unlocking some sort of primal part of my brain and everything is coming back to me. one of my biggest inspirations as a kid #i still remember thinking the final transmission lyrics were the coolest thing and watching =TopHat= Bee and Melissa over and over #theres a very specific feeling of longing and nostalgia looking back and watching these again years later #especially when there isnt anything genshin or mcyt and instead its either fnaf undertale eddsworld or another obscure #interest... and not even fnaf sister location its like fnaf 3 and 2. its THAT old. and a lot of oc MVs especially pokemon ocs and furries..#god but they were so creative u know. i still find it amazing ppl took this little lightbox animation on the fucking NINTENDO DS and #cranked it all the way to 11.. like if u look at the transitions and movement its so fucking fluid its insane..!! HOW DO YOU MAKE THE #CHARACTERS SPIN??? AND CHANGING CAMERA ANGLES??? and keep in mind youre doing this all with a shitty stylus #on a THREE BY TWO INCH SCREEN. you only get two layers you can go up to 29FPS and you only have 999 slides to work with #and 24FPS eats up a lot of that. absolutely insane it literally boggles my mind every time i think about it. AND SOME ARE EVEN FULL COLOR #i forgot how popular EDM was back then too...they were really good for timing beats though so you get a lot of MVs with #strobe last and marble soda. porter robinsons goodbye to a world was also popular with undertale and oc MVs. also a lot of vocaloid #someone made a flipnote abt the warner bros fnaf movie being announced EIGHT FUCKING YEARS AGO. it even used the stay calm audio from #the office.... i wonder how theyre doing now... i love you shitty grainy MV audio.. but i have mixed feelings abt the flashing colors #ppl LOVED animating the sans vs frisk fight. aishite and primadonna were also big ones they were SICK AS FUCK #lots of these inspired my old oc designs.. a lot of my characters had side bangs with one eye covered. animal ears and simple eyes too #now i kinda wanna try my hand at the marble soda meme cause i loved it as a kid lol.. i wonder if i should compare my old and new art here #UGHHHH IM SO NORMAL ABOUT NOSTALGIA. Zero Escape is one of thee most lifechanging pieces of media I've ever experienced and I still think about it constantly years later. I don't think anything has stuck with me the same way. I adore the themes and the characters and the tone... idk why exactly it speaks to Me Specifically, I wish I could pinpoint what about it works so well for me, but. all I can do is see these characters struggle to escape again and again, and all that comes with it

#also wild bc when i first got through 999 i thought it was really amazingly good but i was ready to let go of it #then i got obsessed with vlr almost a year later when i picked it back up #and looking back on 999 at that moment. replaying it in full. changed me so much
