Light's role in the plot in general and especially the fact he was with Akane throughout the entire first nonary game and there when she died, raises a lot of questions about how much he might have put together ahead of time. Both him and Clover seem to suspect what's going on during the sudoku, right? There's a lot of variable space to interpret him and I think the last time I tried to reason it through in detail none of the options i considered entirely made sense to me.

But wherever he falls on that. His faith and/or deductions that Zero/Aoi won't cause them any actual physical harm are proven entirely justified in the only ending where he states that aloud so confidently. He was totally right to believe that, exclusively during the true end. I wish we could see how he'd react to having the full truth in any OTHER timeline. Especially the Safe end. Because every bad ending was an unintended if suspected risk by the Kurashikis but the true end wasn't the only series of events they did deliberately plan for. The Safe end is a necessary step in their plan entirely as much as the True end is and that timeline intentionally involves Clover dying, and Light himself though I suspect that doesn't mean as much to him.

Like. Apparently it's pretty easy for Light and what feels like Most of the cast to go oh no worries :) I understand :) about the ideal correctly executed plan of kidnapping them into a death game but not hurting any innocents to the noble end of saving a child's life, when it goes down in a way that looks like they successfully accounted for and planned everything in a controlled environment. What about when the plan is OK so your sister gets stabbed to death and then you are shot six times and burn in a fire and then we try to disregard that entire reality from our minds. Well don't worry you two don't have to deal with the aftermath of that one either <3 liiiiiiike. Like surely he would not be as chill with the actual genuine full context. But Junpei barely knows how or where he pulled the coffin code from or wtf "didn't I tell you I'm santa claus :)" refers to so

But AGAIN that information is a balancing act because you Know the Fields would have done the same thing if their positions were swapped with the Kurashikis. Like no doubt they would have done it too they are clear parallels. And Light definitely recognises that. I can't see him holding a grudge in the true end like at all (where I think Clover would like. get it but still be pissed) because, there's less room to intuit what he thinks of Akane herself and of doing that to save her Own life but Aoi at least he can completely emphathise with, he definitely Gets it he would've let him burn to save Clover too I think... But LIKE. This should all show I am not entirely confident on how to interpret light field but at least if they Were swapped I'm damn sure aoi would have still lost it if a normal living akane got stabbed in the same circumstances they got out of 9 years ago and then learned hi yeah its me Light FromTheGigantic I orchestrated that on purpose to save my sister in an alternate reality I cannot prove to you exists <3

This is such irrational behaviour. He knew him for about 9 hours total when they were 15 years old and that is enough for him to immediately conclude ahhh it is aoi!! Ok we are not in any danger at all actually. He was out for most of this game but he at least heard a guy very much explode, walked through it, and had woke up to a bomb threat at his sister. Oh AND light WAS around for the taking a hostage at gunpoint and firing a shot and trying to leave everyone else behind to die for like no apparent fuckin reason. Now like there IS good reason to call bluff on most of that but still he (correctly!) completely discards how all of that looks once he's decided it's aoi kurashiki. And then they barely even acknowledge each other later in the incinerator. Light seems a very rational logical person except for when he does this and when he runs Back towards the incinerator murderer after the kurashikis. Ok gayass.

Clover also trusts Santa and disregards him from murder suspicion upon learning he's a fng kid but for her like. A. That's her learning Santa the PLAYER - whose worst proven crime at that point is just having a bad attitude while being ultimately cooperative - is a fng kid not learning that ZERO is a fng kid B. She feels betrayed about it once he pulls a gun on her C. Clover just comes off as far more emotionally driven than Light so it's a lot less striking. Light is The Enneagram That Likes To Think. really makes ya think
