Speculation ACGAS Series 6
If there is a time jump between series 5 and 6.... here's my thoughts IF this happens...
A new Herriot child in the mix
Maggie is now a widow, w/a child - Tris has been a great friend/support to her
Tris being named the new head of Ministry of Agriculture
Siegfried is in a relationship w/Mrs. Grantly (a.k.a. goat lady); he's basically living at Grantly manner.
Siegfried has a chance at possibly being the racetrack vet
James has introduced some modern pieces of equipment to the practice
Carmody has published important research, Siegfried loves to say he "discovered" him
Mrs. Hall has worked closely w/Mrs. Pumphrey to establish community projects to support veterans returning home.
I see a time jump as a way to have us join our beloved Skeldale family a bit older, wiser. They have grown and are on the verge of even more growth, the war is winding down. I am biased, so I would love if we join them as they are about to officially become the Herriots and the Farnons. I felt Mrs. Grantley was introduced for a reason, and that the crumbs were there for her to return. On paper, she seems like the "right" fit for Siegfried. The relationship makes Siegfried know he's ready to move on, but I think it would work if his time w/her only made him realize even more that his heart and home are Skeldale, and Audrey is the center. Plus, we wouldn't have to watch Siegfried court someone else! It could be in progress/nearing its end, she could be away traveling, and we join them just as Siegfried and Audrey fall in love. I think Audrey would very much miss him if he spends most his time away from Skeldale, possibly leading her to throw herself even more into community work as she doesn't have him to tend to. Maybe the distance helps to lessen the employer/employee factor... it could be a good jumping off point. Helen and James would be established as parents, Tris would still be Tris, but more mature and possibly on the verge of being what Maggie needs. No longer just someone for a good time. James helping to usher in more modern approaches to veterinary medicine. Helen doing the books for the practice and raising her family. I also like thinking of James/Tris/Carmody all coming into their own. All mentored by Siegfried. I love this show and never want it to end, but it will. A time jump may help to bring the story to a close as the found family has grown and is now established, looking toward the future of a post WWII world.

Will there be a time jump in acgas series 6?
I know some fans are concerned about the possibility of a time jump in season 6. After all, there is the risk of too much off-screen development for a start. However, I personally think a time jump would be a good thing if it happens. There's still years left of the second world war, so it would take at least two more seasons to cover the whole period. A time jump would allow the writers to explore the aftermath of the war. Also, there's lots of reasons why they would choose to do a time jump at this stage in the series:
. In series five, both James and Tristan settled back into Skeldale. This opens up a possibility for them to bond over their experiences. While it's unclear if Tristan will be called up again, it's possible that he'll stay around like James has. If this is the case, a time skip would be effective in showing how both men reflect on their service in the war, and the long term impact of their service.
. On a similar topic, we know a lot about James' war experience but not much about Tristan's. If we had some flashbacks of Egypt, it would parallel with Siegfried's flashbacks of Ypres in season 3. Memories of war have been a huge part of Siegfried's characterisation, so it would make sense for this to bleed into Tristan's as well.
. A time skip would also mean that Jimmy would be a bit older. This could give James and Helen a reason to have another baby. I'm not sure what the age gap between Alf Wight's real children is, but it would be interesting to welcome a new character to mark the end of the war.
. After the S5 Christmas special, I don't know what will happen to Edward. If he is caught in the Japanese invasion of Singapore, this would result in another agonising storyline for Audrey. Given the history of Singapore, I don't want to see this happen to her. A time jump could enable the writers to see Edward's storyline through to a point where he can return home. I don't want the writers to explain it away, but a reunion between him and Audrey would be so rewarding.
. Carmody may be tied up in London for the remainder of the war, due to his duty as a researcher (although I don't know how they'll handle the blitz 😐). It would be nice to see Carmody return to Skeldale after the war, either just for a visit or to stay for a while.
. A time skip would give Jenny a chance to grow off-screen and contemplate her future. In the last season, she wanted to leave to work in Leeds (?), so it will be interesting if she decides to stay there.
. If Siegfried × Audrey happens, a time jump might actually be another reason for them to get together. (I know Donald Sinclair married Audrey Adamson in 1943 but acgas does it's own thing). Until the end of the war, Siegfried will be anxious in case Tristan is called up again. Similarly, Audrey will continue to fear for Edward until he returns home safely. When the horrors of the war are behind them, Siegfried and Audrey will have more time to think about their feelings for each other.
The time skip in season 6 is still unconfirmed (as far as I know) so this is just speculation. The final reason why a time jump would be neat is because the original series did it, but I guess we'll see.

Speculation for ACGAS S4
** Spoilers/Speculation ***
i have this though that Siegfried and Audrey will have different storylines this year. I could see Siegfried working with new staff - a new staff member to fill-in for Tristan and, possibly, a new staff member to take over bookkeeping. A real change in the practice for Siegfried to come to terms with. Meanwhile, Audrey is working through (my guess) a divorce as she cannot truly move forward with anything in her life without resolving her past. I think Gerald will make it clear that he wants a future, possibly in Hull as that is where he is now, but Audrey knows she can’t make any plans without resolving things with Robert. Meanwhile, James and Helen plan for their new arrival/member of the family and the reality that James may be called to fight at any moment. I somehow see Siegfried being asked to be a character witness for Audrey, and I think that would be hard for her to ask him for help, even though we know he would do anything for her. We’ve always seen Siegfried scheme to try and protect or keep those he holds dear close, but I think with Audrey he’s going to have to let go and be supportive, even if he feels that by supporting her, he may very well lose her from his life. A big moment of growth for him for sure. But for her, I think he will rise to the occasion. I’m not sure if they will introduce another love interest for Siegfried or not, or just mention his dates again. My guess is if they do keep Siegfried and Audrey platonic, we won’t see a real love interest for Siegfried introduced until the closing moments of the show, possibly an old love/friend as in the original series.
I could see possible moments where Audrey and Siegfried cross paths in series 4, maybe a quiet moment in the kitchen where they reflect on all that has happened since their lives fist intermingled. I think James and Helen becoming parents would prompt some wistful contemplation of the past 4 years for sure... I would like to see Siegfried and Audrey become real family to one another, but I can also acknowledge that they may not go that route. Even as a “shipper” though, I don’t think we are going to get a real overt storyline between the two in series 4. We may get a culmination or an understanding by episode 6, but I see them on separate journeys. Ultimately, I can’t imagine Audrey leaving Yorkshire. I have this thought that she wants Edward to come there after the war...she thinks of it as heaven on earth, and I feel she would want that for her son...whether that is his fate or not, we may never know. But like James, I think it has become her home, hopefully because of a fondness for a handsome, ridiculous creature.
