Blue Skies AU (dabihawks)

[SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE WEATHERING WITH YOU]

The plot and characters are altered, but there are still major spoilers, please proceed with caution!

Backstory and first few meetings:

Keigo

Takami Keigo is a 15 year old runaway who fled to Tokyo to get away from his neglectful parents

It’s been raining nonstop for months in the city

Keigo used to pray every day to any higher power for there to be a sunny day so that he could get out of the house

This continues even when he’s homeless on the streets

One day he sees a ray of light break from the clouds and pool on top of an abandoned building

He climbs up the stairs to find a shrine

Keigo crosses the threshold and prays, effectively binding him to the sky

He’s now a sunshine boy, which means whenever he prays the sun clears up for a short amount of time in one specific area

He’s still homeless tho

No one will employ a minor bc it’s against labor laws, so Keigo can’t find a job

Dejected and soaked he goes into a McDonalds and tries to come up with a plan, dreading the idea that he has to go back home

A waiter comes by with the bright blue eyes and dyed black hair gives him a free burger

He leaves before Keigo can even say thank you

(It’s the best damn meal he’s ever had in his life.)

That gives him newfound motivation, but he still has trouble and ends up making a deal with some shady people to work at their club

Touya

Todoroki Touya is a 16 year old oldest child of four who has to provide for his younger siblings after their mother is permanently admitted into the hospital

They all live in a small apartment in Tokyo

Fuyumi is his twin, Natsuo is 12, and Shouto is 8

Their father was physically and mentally abusive to both his kids and Rei, so she divorced him but fell ill a couple months after

Touya lies about his age on his resume and says he’s 17

He needs to be able to provide for his siblings bc he’s afraid that they’ll get split up if someone finds out they don’t have a guardian

He works at McDonalds lmao

Touya sees this golden haired boy with sunshine eyes all drenched and upset and gives him a free burger

(No it’s not bc he was cute, it’s bc it made him think of his siblings, ok?)

But later that day he finds a gun in the trash (yes at McDonalds) and he’s like what. the. fuck.

(is that a toy?? It has to be.)

He keeps it on his person anyways as if it’s some dumb good luck charm

Touya gets fired a couple weeks later for getting into a fight with a customer

He runs into Aizawa, a high school teacher who also owns a radio show? (That doesn’t seem to suit his personality at all)

Aizawa offers him a job which basically has him look for urban myths and legends for them to talk abt on air

Rumi also works there (on air her name is Miruko) she’s an ex student of his who works part time while searching for a “real job”

On the way back from an interview he comes across that same golden boy being coerced into going somewhere sketchy

Instinctively Touya runs in and tries to get away with Keigo, but the people catch up to them and Touya gets a little beat up

It’s pouring outside.

He pulls out the gun and shoots, not knowing it was loaded, and only just barely misses

The guys are effectively scared off while Touya grabs Keigo and runs into that same abandoned building

They don’t know that someone got a picture of the incident and Touya is now wanted by the police for possession of unregistered firearms

There is more but I’m saving the rest of the story for either a fic or some future comics! this is more of an interest check than anything aslkdfhasd
