I’m not sure if we’re allowed to ask ooc stuff. If so, what made you choose the last names you did for the Union Leaders?

You are, if you’re curious about some meta stuff (as long as it’s not a spoiler). Any excuse to talk about this AU lol

So most of the last names are only semi deliberate. Like, I said in the tags of the post that I wasn’t sure if I was going to keep them, and that was because I was sick and tired of trying to find perfect names for them so I settled.

Brain and Skuld were the ones I wasn’t sure about.

I landed on Marshall for Brain because it means ‘horse servant’ or something along those lines, and I was like “hahahahah horse”. I could pretend it’s something deeper like him being a servant of the people and practically working himself to death (work like a horse is a saying, right?) or whatever but that wasn’t what I was thinking when I chose it lol

I want you to know though, that I was trying to find a list of common last names in 1920s Texas, but just could not find one. No matter what I looked up, nothing.

For Skuld I definitely had more of a direction than with Brain. I wanted it to be Nordic… and, uh, that was it… you would not believe how much easier it was to find options though. By the time I got to Skuld, I will say, I was a bit exhausted from looking for Brain’s last name, so when I was looking through a list (which didn’t have the meanings next to them) I was kinda just clicking on ones I though looked interesting. The first one that semi-fit was Westergaard. And so I went with it.

It means West Farm and Daybreak Town in this AU is in Oregon (which is something I’m not sure will come up in any way other than my research, so fun fact lol), which is on the west coast, and Daybreak Town is kinda a farm??? Also when I read it, I read the end like “guard”, and felt that fit. Like I said loose.

Someone pointed out it’s the same last name that Hans has in Frozen. I had no idea when I used it. It’s just a coincidence… though I do headcannon Skuld as being from Arendelle in actual canon KH maybe they’re very incredibly distantly related lol

Ventus doesn’t get a last name because he doesn’t remember.

Lauriam Belrose is just me robbing @/Rosie-Kairi and pretending it’s a reference (/j).

// While not exactly what this question asks (partially because this would need me to do a lot more reading and figuring out how to integrate this), I feel like a good bit of Gatomon's mannerisms and speaking patterns may have come from Myotismon. He was, after all, the most prominent figure much of her young life (even if for the worse)—so that's just bound to happen.

I think it usually manifests in ways no one really thinks too much about, either. Maybe she's got a small inclination toward lingering in the darker corners of a room or standing in the shadow of a doorway. Sure, that's kinda just what cats do. She speaks with some degree of authority to the other Digimon; okay, yeah, she's the most experienced anyway so that makes sense.

She probably doesn't realize it, to be honest, but if anyone ever points it out, she'll immediately start to recognize the similarities. It's tragic, in a way; of anyone to carry the mannerisms of, it's the one who abused her, nearly twisted her into something she isn't.

I think she'd be disgusted by that, too, but... it's not easy to entirely change the way you talk.

Heyo! I know I haven't really been super active here over the last couple years. My energy for this has been on-and-off quite a bit, and my mental and emotional health the last half decade hasn't really been helping matters in that regard either. Though I don't really have any plans to go anywhere anytime soon.

I don't really have anything fancy to say other than I appreciate everyone that's stuck around through my myriad hiatuses. Definitely going to try going into 2025 with the hope that things get better.

ROAD WORK AHEAD: it's a delicate situation to insert herself into, given the fact that she's supreme guardian, but it's issues like these that bronya needs to learn how to resolve. i'd like a partner who could possibly support bronya or give her any assurances, as she is no doubt going into this with a lot of consideration for her position and the feelings of the underworlders.

SHACKLING PRISON BOOTCAMP: the set-up is this: bronya's visiting the luofu as part of a diplomatic mission, and is asked to help train some of the cloud knights. that's really it! but i would like to use this prompt as an opportunity to establish rapport between jarilo-vi and the xianzhou luofu. depending on the muse, we may veer into political discussion.

INTO THE BRONYAVERSE: a more general prompt this time. hello, honkai impact 3rd people! yes, bronya rand doesn't know about bronya zaychik, but any friends of the latter are welcome to approach bronya for anything. i think it'd be a fun thing to explore, bronya discovering a very different her.
