Every year, in October, Axalp's "target shot" exercise attracts thousands of aircraft fans to the Oberland of Bern. This year, spectators were able to see for the first time two F-35A fighters on site.

The new stealth jet was recently chosen by the Swiss Air Force. Between 2027 and 2030, Switzerland will receive 36 copies of the Lockheed Martin F-35A that should replace the current fleet of F/A-18 Hornet and F-5E Tiger II fighters. This year, who managed to climb the mountains of the Axalp-Ebenfluh airfield near Bern, they were able to see up close the passages of the fighters who will soon defend the airspace of the Swiss Alps.

Thousands of spectators climb the mountain every year in October, in which the Swiss Air Force demonstrates its skills with spectacular maneuvers in a rocky setting. The F-35As in this year's exercise came from the Italian Air Force that arrived by surprise directly from Italy and joined the Swiss jets to the delight of the public.

The first eight F-35As will be manufactured at Lockheed Martin's facilities in Fort Worth, Texas, where they will also be used to provide initial training for Swiss pilots, Bern announced in March. At least 24 subsequent aircraft will be manufactured and assembled by Leonardo at the Final Assembly and Check-Out (FACO) installation in Cameri, northern Italy.

The Swiss Air Force performance show is traditionally completed by the demonstration of the "Patrouille Suisse" demonstration team, composed of six F-5E painted red and white, which stand out in red and white in front of the gray rocky walls.

Collins Aerospace completes integration of the NP2000 system in Chilean C-130

This is the first international C-130 Hercules aircraft that was updated with Collins' NP2000 system.

The company is under contract with the Chilean Air Force to upgrade all variants of its existing fleet of C-130 aircraft built by Lockheed Martin, including the C-130E, C-130B, C-130H and KC-130R models.

“This installation of the NP2000 complete propeller system marks the first international modernization of the C-130 for the Chilean Air Force,” said the senior director of Collins Aerospace Propeller Systems, Quinlan Lyte. "Our innovative NP2000 system incorporates sophisticated and state-of-the-art technologies designed to increase efficiency and increase aircraft availability, as well as reduce fatigue and crew safety.

Compared to conventional propeller systems, the new NP2000 propeller systems offer a wide range of benefits, such as a sound reduction of almost 20 db in the aircraft cockpit, about a 20% thrust increase during takeoff and a 50% reduction in general maintenance hours.

With the NP2000, users can remove and replace the individual blades of the aircraft in the wing, without the need to remove the entire propeller system.

The new NP2000 system has eight composite blades and an electronic propeller control system.

The company's NP2000 propellers are currently in service with several C-130 aircraft of the international air forces, as well as in Northrop Grumman's E-2 and C-2 aircraft.

The New York National Air Guard recently tested the NP2000 T56-A-15A turboprop engines with the only LC-130 aircraft equipped with U.S. Air Force ski.

Collins also plans to equip the NP2000 propeller system on the P-3 Orion aircraft.

Spain said on Saturday that it will send 14 fighters to Bulgaria and Romania to strengthen NATO's eastern flank, as the defense alliance strengthens its deterrence capacity after Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Madrid will send six Eurofighter fighters and 130 soldiers to Bulgaria between mid-November and early December to train local forces, the Spanish Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

He added that a new deployment will see eight F-18 Hornet fighters and 130 air force soldiers sent to Romania between December and March 2023 as part of NATO's "reaction and deterrence" strategy.

A long-range air surveillance radar has also been deployed in Romania since October 17 and may remain until the end of June 2023, the statement said.

Spain will also increase the missions of its air force as part of an "air shield". The country has already sent 12 fighters to eastern NATO members Bulgaria, Lithuania and Estonia since Russia invaded its pro-Western neighbor in February.

Saab TransponderTech's latest generation air transponders were selected to be integrated into Dassault Aviation's Albatros Falcon 2000LXS fleet for surveillance and maritime intervention of the French Navy.

The aircraft is part of the French Navy's AVSIMAR program and will ensure the maritime protection and defense of the territory. The program includes a total of 12 aircraft to replace the Falcon 50M and the Falcon 200 Guardian, which will be taken out of service between 2025 and 2030.

Saab's state-of-the-art AIS and VDES transponders meet the strict requirements of the Albatros platform - a multi-mission system ready to operate in a wide range of conditions, from the protection of the homeland and maritime security to government action at sea, through the fight against pollution and traffic, surveillance of borders and exclusion zones, fisheries policing, as well

"We are committed to providing Dassault with the latest generation of AIS sensors for the Falcon 2000 Albatros aircraft. It is a confirmation of Saab's ambition to be a leader in this maritime technology and a recognition of our long-term cooperation with Dassault," said Johanna Gustafsson, Managing Director of Saab TransponderTech.

Saab will deliver a total of 8 sets of systems, each including an AIS R5A transponder and a VDES/AIS R6A receiver. The R6A platform is a future-proof multichannel VDES and AIS receiver, specially designed for aerial applications and based on Saab's Software Defined Radio (SDR) technology. The R6A offers exceptional performance and flexibility in a very compact design. The unit has been extensively tested and qualified to meet VDES and aviation standards.

Indonesia acquires used Mirage 2000-5 fighters from Qatar

The Indonesian Air Force (TNI-AU) was reported as the buyer of Qatar's Dassault Mirage 2000-5 fighter fleet, which was withdrawn from service after accepting further replacements.

The French news agency Intelligence Online reported that the 12 Mirage 2000-5 fighters of the Qatar Emirates Air Force are finally going to Indonesia, despite the interests of France and Bulgaria for the fighters used, but still in good condition.

Qatar received its first of its 12 new Mirage 2000-5 fighters in 1997, but was recently withdrawn from service after the Middle Eastern country acquired dozens of new fighters from France, the United Kingdom and the United States, as it increases their capacity and size.

It is believed that Indonesia will use these used Mirage 2000-5 fighters ?? as a training and transition platform while waiting for the delivery of their new Dassault Rafale fighters ordered from France in 2021.

Indonesia has never operated combat aircraft from France, and the Mirage 2000-5 would allow its pilots and ground crew to become familiar with French combat aircraft.

Bulgaria and France would also be interested in fighters, with Bulgaria planning to replace its Soviet-era fighters and be aligned with NATO standard fighters, while France wanted to use Qatari fighters as aggressor training aircraft for its Rafale fleet.

The Mirage 2000-5 will increase the Indonesian Air Force fighter fleet, which currently has a mixture of 33 American-made F-16A/B/C/D Fighting Falcons, 16 Russian-made Sukhoi Su-30 and Su-33 Flanker, 22 British-made Hawk 200 light combat aircraft and 14 South Korean-made T-50i lead in fighter coaches.
