MRP system or also known as Materials Requirements Planning can help manufacturing companies to use built-in scheduling logic in order to manage or oversee the materials workflow in manufacturing operation. Companies are checking out ways of reducing inventory costs, driving down lead times while also enhancing customer service, improve the process of manufacturing and thus, improve product’s quality.
Making use of ABM software system, the manufacturer is able to become more efficient and at the same time, plan the use and needs for the resources more efficiently. This is both in terms of capacity and materials within the factory.
There are two kinds of MRP systems that could be discussed. Between the two is the Material Requirements planning while the other is MRPII or Manufacturing Resource Planning. Conventional MRP system is something wherein the software is using inventory levels, master production schedule and bills of materials in calculating and planning the need for order replenishment. MRPII system is a form of system that is planning more functions of the whole manufacturing procedure which include master production scheduling, capacity requirements planning, plan simulations as well as other aspects of classic MRP system.
Majority of the systems nowadays are actually based on MRP systems. So from this stage, if we’re referring to MRP system, we’re actually talking about MRPII system and that’s exactly what being offered in the market. Doing research in MRP system typically brings tons of questions as well as uncertainties, which is quite normal.
