How to Delete Search History on YouTube

Delete search history on YouTube in simple steps and get relieved from fear of someone checking your browsing history.

YouTube is a platform that allows us to watch, save, make playlists, watch later the videos of any type for free with adds. It has become a famous social media platform where anyone can make their own channel and upload videos which are viewed by n number of users on YouTube and account for millions and billions views and comments. Many people made their career out of it.

YouTube was founded in 2005 by PayPal employees named  Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim with a concept of providing platform to enable users to share, view and upload videos. Its purpose was to serve as dating app which did not came through as good as thought but their video sharing capabilities were very strong and hence they made changes in their project considering there is no as such similar concept in market.

They were the only ones with this concept of video sharing and first one to come into market. They made this application user friendly and for those who were from non-technical background and does not know much about uploading and sharing videos. In 2006 YouTube was acquired by Google and made as a multi-billion dollar business.

YouTube comes as a pre- installed application in every smartphone and is used by almost every individual in world for so many different purposes like entertainment, work, business, education etc. It is very simple process to make a channel and upload a video and it is public or private according to your choice.

It provides money per view if exceeds a pre decided views limit. A common man can also start earning or learning from YouTube.

Sometimes our devices are operated by different users and we do not want to let them know what we searched for in YouTube as it shows are search history when we click on search bar to search something new. Our recent searches appear in a box on YouTube and reveal our history.

According to our search history or watch history YouTube shows the feed similar to that and if we need to clear the specific kind of feed and want to get new feed of different kind then also we can delete search history onYouTube.

There are two options available to delete YouTube data.

Delete search history on YouTube one by one if only particular item or items are needed to be cleared:

Open YouTube application.

Go to search bar.

Long press the search that you want to delete. Then a dialog box will appear confirming to delete YouTube history or not.

Click on remove to delete YouTube history. This will delete search history on YouTube of a particular item.

One can use this if you want to clear YouTube history of limited items.

If you are using your laptop to clear YouTube search history then follow these steps:

Open www.YouTube.com

Login to your id.

Click on history tab from left panel

Click on crosses of particular history item you want to clear YouTubehistory one by one and it will only delete search history form YouTube of specific items.

But if you want to clear YouTube history all at once and make it as new then follow the steps to delete search history on YouTube from your phone.

Open YouTube application in your mobile.

Login to your id.

Click on library tab>history on the right down corner of the screen of your phone.

From phone click on three dots on upper right corner and click on history controls.

Click on clear search history to delete YouTube history.

If you wish to delete YouTube data of watch history then click on clear watch history option and it will clear watch history.

Now, to delete search history on YouTube from your laptop follow the steps mentioned below:

Open www.YouTube.com

Login to your id.

Click on history tab from left panel

Click on radio button of search history that appears on right side

Click on clear search history below that panel and it will automatically delete search history on YouTube

Now if you wish to delete watch history then click on watch history radio button and then delete watch history option.

YouTube is an application which saves our watch and search history and can be misused if anyone intends to. Some people does not like to get invaded into their privacy by letting others know what they are viewing or searching on YouTube. Google has made your task easy so that you do not have to come back again and again to delete search history on YouTube by allowing you to delete search history onYouTube automatically after a some period of time.

To enable your YouTube account to automatically delete search history on YouTube:

Go to the Activity controls for your YouTube history.

Click on the “Data & personalization” tab over there

Thengo to “YouTube history” and then click on “Manage activity.”

Under YouTube History, you’ll see two boxes. The right-hand box helps you to find if and when your YouTube watch and search history will be deleted.

 If you are visiting this page for the first time then it will probably say “Keeping activity until you delete it manually.”

Click on “Choose to delete automatically” just below the link.

You can choose from 3 months or 18 months option which lets Google delete your history automatically after selected time. It’s your preference and totally up to you.

Confirm your preference. Google will show a pop-up that will tell you if you have something that needs to be deleted before 3 or 18 months as selected.

If you wish to not save history at all not even for a day then you can also choose that .

Start from the YouTube History page and look at the left-hand box; it will show whether your YouTube history is on or off. If it’s on and you want it to be off:

Click on “Change setting”

You’ll see two checkboxes, one that says “Include the YouTube videos you watch” and the other that says “Includes your searches on YouTube.” If you uncheck either, you will pause the collection of that particular history.

If you want to pause both, move the toggle above them to the “off” position.

YouTube is open platform for all kinds of videos to publish. People have made their career without going somewhere and just made videos with good content from their homes. People like Bhuvan Bam and so many other YouTubersare now so famous and have millions and billions of view on their videos and had to do negligible amount of investment to reach at platform and in everyone’s heart where they are today.
