College!AU Thoughts
I've been playing around with the idea of all the companions being college professors, and trying to figure out what subject(s) fit them best. Here's what I've got so far:
Dr. Gale Dekarios - either English Literature or Physics. (Or Chemistry???? What science field is closest to magic?) Imo he would have multiple degrees in different majors, so I don't think it would be completely unlikely that he would teach both subjects somehow.
Prof. Wyll Ravengard - History? Probably? Like European History. Lots of Wars to talk about. I feel like he would be the fun history professor everybody loves.
Prof. Karlach Cliffgate - Health and Human Performance. Talking about the way your heart works, how bodies work, how to exercise effectively etc, but also about mental health and keeping yourself healthy inside your head and socially too ❤️ Also probably a coach for like, Women's Basketball?
Professor Shadowheart Hallowleaf - Psychology or Theology. I'm not sure which, but I feel like being a Psychologist really vibes with her attitude? Lol. So I'm leaning towards that.
Lae'zel - I feel like she would just be a coach and not a Professor. She's new and people aren't familiar with her but she is the most hardcore Volleyball or Softball coach you've ever seen. Her team ends up loving her tho even if she is harsh af
Dr. Astarion Ancunin - okay this is where I'm REALLY getting stuck. There are so many options. I think he is still a vampire in this AU idea, and that Cazador acts something like a Mafia boss. Astarion could have previously been his Lawyer, but has mysteriously disappeared from the Mafia and his Lawyer lifestyle to become a professor instead. But what should his subject be???? I think Law is too simple, it should be something like idk. Ancient European History (Greeks & Romans mainly) maybe, and be the mean opposite of Wyll? Or I also thought he could be English Literature and be the foil to Gale. If he does Literature he could focus on The Telltale Heart, Frankenstein, even Paradise Lost..... There's so much potential there. But then I ALSO think he would be a fantastically awful Theatre professor. Like you think you're going to get an easy A class, but it turns out the Theatre professor is a DICK and will take off points if you don't spell "Commedia Dell'arte" correctly in your 10-page "history of theatrical arts" paper (who would even make that an assignment???)
So many ideas, and I'm not sure what to choose!!!! If you have any ideas pls let me know bc I think this is such a fun concept to plan out lmao
Bonuses!!!
Dr. Halsin Silverbough - Agriculture (and probably with a major focus on Livestock Veterinary sciences). He's on campus pretty often because he runs a charity that shelters the feral cats on campus and helps rehabilitate them to be adopted out. In general he is like, a man who is Always Doing Something and somehow juggles a million and one responsibilities flawlessly. People look at him and think he is some big burly farmer guy, but he's actually extremely intelligent and well-versed in animal AND plant sciences.
Dr. Jaheira - honestly idk what she should teach, I definitely feel the urge to pin her as a Biology professor BUT I also think that might be a disservice to her full character. She could be like, an ethics/sociology professor or something. Maybe even in the Criminal Justice field, since she is High Harper after all?
Minsc - probably like a wrestling coach or something. Works at the campus gym all the time. Very loveable, brings his pet hamster everywhere.
Dr. Minthara Baenre - I'm American so I immediately went for ROTC, but tbh I don't know if that would make any sense since Faerûn seems mostly European inspired and I just don't think ROTC classes make a lot of sense outside of the U.S. lmao???? So other than that, maybe she could be in Criminal Justice somehow. Huge hardass, former military, but very dedicated. Most students hate her, but a select few revere her for pushing them to meet their full potential. She's a great professor once you earn her respect. Might also be like a Volleyball coach. Her team never loses. Never.

Online Agricultural Chemistry Help
Agricultural Chemistry is the science that involves the production of food, and drinks from the raw material which are obtained from plants. It is a mixture of two studies biochemistry and simple chemistry. This study focuses on the interaction between human beings, animals, environment, and microorganisms such as bacteria which are beneficial for the soil.
In 1840, when studies on fertilizers were going on then a publication on organic chemistry in its applications to agriculture and physiology brought significant changes in the field of agricultural studies.
Nitrogen is an important nutrient for soil this discovery of Liebig’s is one of the biggest achievements in the history of agriculture science. Earlier fertilizers that were being used compost and it is made up of degraded material that is dumped inside the soil. In twentieth-century composting was considered as one of the most utilized fertilizer techniques.
Then it was found that ammonia is one of the suitable fertilizers for soil. Haber and Bosch establish a reaction to produce ammonia and pressurize nitrogen to form ammonia.
Applications:
•          To increase the knowledge about the cause and effect of chemical reactions and to control those side effects which have a direct impact on plant growth.
•          To develop disease-resistant plants, herbicides, pesticides to save the plants from bacteria.
•          To improve the yield of the crop and to assess the best quality product.
•          Its main objective is to increase and conserve the fertility of the soil.
•          Genetically modified plants can be grown which can have the desired combination of genes and give the required product.
It is a science-based on chemical composition, changes in structure to protect, and resist plant change in production and its utilization. It also emphasizes increasing quality and decreasing cost of the production.
Nowadays, test tube chemistry is also a part of agricultural science where hybrids can be formed and all the processes through which living beings get their food,  fibers, and other supplements.

preguntar = to question, to wonder
hacer una pregunta = to ask a question
tener una pregunta = to have a question
contestar = to answer
ensayar = to try out, to test / to rehearse (theater)
poner a prueba = to put to the test
empeorar = to get worse, to worsen
mejorar = to get better, improve
desarrollar = to develop, to build
desarrollarse = to grow, to develop (oneself)
prestar (la) atención = to pay attention
equivocarse = to be wrong
tener (la) razón = to be right
tener sentido = to make sense
*Note: There are some regionalisms in here, and some have so many regionalisms I couldn’t include them on the list.
For instance, “to take a test” has so many regionalisms it’s difficult to list them all. In Mexico you’re probably going to hear presentar un examen. Some places will say hacer un examen, some even put it as el maestro / la maestra pone un examen a los estudiantes.
The default way of saying “to take a test” is dar un examen which is literally “to give an exam”, because you hand a test in to your teacher. Along the same lines, the default way a teacher “gives a test” is tomar un examen because they “take” the tests that the students turn in. For that reason, dar un examen is often translated as “to sit for an exam” to help the meaning come across more easily.

Inorganic Chemistry
Inorganic chemistry is the chemistry of non-carbon compounds such as transition metals, alkali metals, and halogens.
Physical Chemistry
Physical chemistry is the chemistry that deals with the interaction of atoms/molecules and energy. It also deals with the principles of both physics and chemistry, and how chemical structures are influencing the physical properties of substances.
Biochemistry
Biochemistry is the study of chemical methods in living organisms. Many scientists derive biochemistry as a biological phenomenon investigated in chemical terms. Due to which it is also called chemical biology or biological chemistry.
Analytical Chemistry
In simple words, analytical chemistry is about analyzing samples of chemical constituents. There are two categories in analytical chemistry, qualitative and quantitative. Qualitatively takes into account a variety of methods to help determine the compounds of substances. And quantitative analysis deals with how much of each compound is present in the substance.

COLLEGE AU 3 (post 1, post 2)
Tumblr media
Hashirama is the dean, but some students feel he doesn’t take the job very seriously. He’s always happy-go-lucky and informal. Tbh he’s kinda like those highschool principals that have a little too much school spirit. He drives a mini van with the school mascot/logo painted on it.
Tobirama is the head of admissions. He is often mistaken for being the dean because of his serious no-nonsense demeanor. He does not like being mistaken for his brother. He drives a silver 2-door European car, maybe a Mercedes or BMW. It’s convertible, but he never puts the roof down.
Iruka is the early childhood education teacher. He also volunteers at extra curricular activities for children to help teach them valuable life skills. He’s very passionate about his job. Naruto eventually takes his class and changes his major, deciding to be a school teacher instead.
Shizune is the TA for Tsunade’s class. She ends up grading most of the students assignments and is usually more helpful outside of class. She is in charge of running the labs, and she is very strict about lab safety.
Kisame is on the football team. He’s a beast of a person, absolutely a giant. He doesn’t know what he wants to do after college man, he’s hoping he can make it in the NFL. But currently he’s double majoring in oceanography and marine biology. He’s a nice guy, but his outward appearance and just how huge he is intimidates people.
Yahiko constantly has a flock of girls chasing him around, no one believes he’s a professor or that he’s nearly 35. He still has the same boyish attitude he had when he was in college, however he is adamant about teaching all the frat boys to properly respect boundaries. If he catches someone pushing a boundary like that and not taking no for an answer, he shuts that shit down. He’s the poli-sci and world history teacher.
Nagato is also confused for a student, but this is due to his timidness. Which is kind of funny when you realize that he’s the theater and film history professor. He prefers to work in the back as a stage hand, and he has worked on Broadway productions.
Kiba is majoring in criminal justice. He wants to work with police dogs. He does average in his classes, but he performs exceptionally well in the field. Tests and exams just aren’t his thing.
Yamato is an art professor, but he specifically teaches frame making and wood sculpture. He seems nice and calm, but his course material and rules are surprisingly strict. No late work, two absence maximum, and you had to log the hours you spent on an assignment. He was a harsh grader as well.
Shino majors in agriculture sciences. He wants to make environmentally friendly pest control possible, or develop farming techniques that can maximize crop output without harming the surrounding wild life. Throws people off because he looks more like a computer science guy, most ag students are farmers. He is also majoring in environmental chemistry. That’s more On Brand™️ for him.

sweet home alabama (2)
Hi all! Between marriage project and some one shots, I decided to upload this chapter!
Reminder: Characters have strong southern accents (save for Tom in the present).
Masterlist
Word Count: 2618
Warnings: slight injury mention
∆ present ∆
The weekend came and went, allowing Tom some time to get a new wardrobe for farmwork and acquire a pair of boots, as his last pair had been passed down and worn out by Sam years ago.
Tom had been enjoying a peaceful rest when he was jolted awake by two hands forcefully shaking him.
“What the- Sam! What are you doing?” Tom exclaimed, sitting up.
“You gotta go to Mel’s today, right? Sun rises in an hour. Better get up and eat ‘fore you head over there,” the younger brother explained. Tom tossed back his head and groaned.
“Fine. I’ll get up,” he replied, tossing off his quilt and sheet.
With the money Tom had made in recent years, he had been able to send some home every so often, which helped fund a much needed expansion of the family home. Unfortunately, they hadn’t added enough bathrooms for each brother to get their own.
“Tom! What in God’s name is taking you so long! You’re gonna be working cotton not modeling it!” Harry yelled, pounding on the door.
“Alright alright! It’s all yours!” Tom exclaimed as he opened up the door. Harry couldn’t help but laugh at his brother.
Though Tom had dressed in a button up, jeans, and boots, he had also made sure to style his hair until every wisp sat straight.
“You know you’re gonna sweat that gel off in ten minutes, right? Especially if you wear a hat.”
Tom rolled his eyes.
“Harry, you know me. There’s always a camera somewhere. Gotta be ready for anything. And it’s pomade, not gel.”
The other young twin just rolled his eyes back and slammed the door shut.
A few minutes down the road, y/n was getting ready to start her own day. She rose at dawn like always, stretching a bit and hopping out of bed.
Though she was living a country life, she still took the time to do a full skincare routine, being especially attentive to the products she used and how much sunscreen she applied.
Since she wouldn’t be at any farms in the morning, y/n put on leggings and tshirt and headed out the door, a granola bar in hand. She only had to drive a mile away to get to the “s.h.e.d.”
As usual, she was the first one there, so she keyed in and turned on all the lights. She took in a deep breath of the smells of the soil and chemicals around her as she tossed on her lab coat.
You didn’t think she was any ordinary farm girl, did you?
In reality, she had actually gone to UCLA, getting degrees in both chemistry and environmental engineering. Now she had spent the last year doing research thanks to a grant to improve the agricultural health of her hometown so she could eventually receive a master’s degree.
But we’ll talk more on that later.
Now that the sun was finally peeking above the horizon, her two lab assistants finally showed up.
Her assistants, Ciara and Jacob, were students at a community college in the town 45 minutes away. They were bright and the three always enjoyed working together, as they played fun music and conversed while recording research.
“Hey! Glad y’all could finally make it! Y’all know that last week I collected more samples from Mel’s, so today I want to prepare a gram from each jar in solution so we can run samples and start looking at what nutrients need supplementing and where so I can put a fertilizer together for tomorrow.”
The two were happy to follow their boss’s instruction, and y/n couldn’t help but smile as she scanned over her lab, remembering where she started.
∆ 16 years old ∆
Y/n had always been good at school.
A straight A student, never one to act out or deliberately miss work. Everyone knew she was bright, and she continued to prove that as she aged.
By sophomore year of high school, she was already an above-average scorer on the ACT and was taking courses above her grade level to keep from boring herself.
But in a town as small as hers, one could only get so advanced in high school alone.
Thankfully once she was a junior, the community college Ciara and Jacob were now attending allowed students to enroll in some basic online classes and receive credit, so long as they had good enough internet connection.
Because she was ahead, y/n had a free period where she could mooch off of the school’s wifi in an empty classroom. However, she didn’t have the same luxury at home, and had to go to Tom’s to complete any assignments after school.
By this point, Tom had been going to small auditions for a couple years, picking up the occasional commercial role and making a few bucks here and there, enough to get his family better TV and internet, anyways.
“Hey, y/n?” Tom asked one day, late in the fall. He laid back on the bed, tossing a foam basketball above his head while y/n worked on her college math class from the floor. She hummed in response, holding a pencil between her teeth.
“What are you plannin’ to do with all this college stuff anyways?” he asked. His accent was still as strong as ever. He hadn’t taught himself to let it go yet.
“I’on know. Maybe git a degree and move out of this town for a while. Find a real job that ain’t baling hay or planting stuff. You know I really love science,” she replied. She knew she had a lot of options, she was only a couple points away from that perfect ACT score by now.
There was a pause as she continued to tap numbers into a calculator and record them.
“I got another audition ‘fore thanksgiving,'' Tom announced after a while. Y/n didn’t look up.
“Oh yeah? What for, toothpaste ad or somethin’?”
“Uh, no actually. This one’s for a movie. A real movie.”
Y/n dropped the pencil and looked up at Tom, pushing up from the ground to sit on her knees as he sat up straight.
“Really? You’re serious? You ain’t pulling my leg or something?”
Tom smiled big and nodded.
“I mean it. I really got this audition coming up.”
“Oh my gosh, TOM!”
Y/n quickly stood up, tackling her best friend in a hug, practically ending up on his lap. They stayed that way for a while.
“Tom, this is seriously incredible. You’re gonna be in a movie!”
He pulled back quickly.
“Don’t be too quick, now. This is only an audition, there’s no way to say I’ll actually get the part-” he started, but y/n got off him and kneeled on the floor, so that her eyes were level with his and she could grab his upper arms to look at him directly.
“You’re gonna get that part,” she smiled, unable to contain her excitement. “You’re gonna nail that audition, and you’re getting that part. This is gonna be your big break, I just know it.”
“Thanks for believin’ in me. Hopefully I won’t prove you a liar this time,” he replied, pulling her up into another hug.
She ended up being right, too, because after his first audition, he got a callback during Christmas break and secured the role which he’d film the summer between junior and senior year.
The pair knew they were really starting to grow up, but didn’t let their different pursuits come between them just yet.
Tom was the one who drove her to her final ACT where she got her perfect score (since she didn’t have a car yet), and the movie filmed a few hours away in the Birmingham area (where y/n drove Tom’s truck in his absence since he was still too young to live there alone).
It worked, for the most part.
∆ present ∆
Tom drew in a sharp breath and winced, limping through the barn and plopping onto a hay bale as he gulped down some water. He had been walking up and down the rows watering the plants, as the four-wheeler Melanie’s dad typically used to water was broken.
“How’s it looking, Mr. Carmichael?” he asked, dabbing away the sweat on his forehead with a towel as he rehydrated.
The older gentleman stood up and looked at Tom.
“Well, son. I’ve almost got this thing here fixed, but you ain’t looking too good,” he pointed out.
“What do you mean, sir?” Tom asked. He may have lost his accent, but didn’t forget his manners.
“Looks like you’ve been ridin’ horses the way you’re walkin’. New boots? Not to mention that sunburn you’re startin’ to nurse. Why don’t you run up to the house and have Mel fix those up. I’m sure her momma fixed some lunch for ya, too.”
“A- are you sure, sir? I’ve only got about 10 more rows before I’m done.”
“No, no. It’s alright, boy. Run along and fix yourself up. I’ll handle the rest.”
Tom thanked the man and slowly got up, immediately remembering the pain in his feet and now aware of the stinging on his cheeks.
He’d forgotten that boots don’t really break themselves in and he hadn’t worn very thick socks. He also had somehow neglected that the sun beats just as hard in the farmlands as it does in Malibu.
He waddled up to the house, where Melanie was on the porch reading a book.
“Well by God, Tom. You’re walkin’ like you just got your back blown out for the first time,” she laughed, causing his cheeks to redden more.
“They’re new boots, alright? Now could you help me out? Your dad said you might know of something?”
She looked past him towards the barn, then closed her book and nodded her head towards the door, standing.
“Come on. Momma made you a sandwich if you want it. You can leave your boots by the door.”
They headed inside, a large living room on the right and the kitchen to the left. Tom wiggled his shoes and socks off in the entryway as Melanie ducked into a hallway to grab a few things.
“Oh Tom! I’m glad you came in! Are you hungry? I’ve got lunch for ya,” Mrs. Carmichael said as she appeared from the kitchen.
“That would be really nice, Mrs. Carmichael. Thank you,” he replied as she sat him down at the kitchen table, placing a plate with a turkey sandwich and some chips in front of him along with a glass of sweet tea.
He dug into the meal, immediately realizing just how hungry he really was. By the time he’d finished the sandwich (which really didn’t take that long), Melanie appeared with a laundry basket full of stuff. Tom washed down his meal with some tea before speaking.
“Jesus, Mel, how much does it take to patch up some blisters?” he asked.
“First off, don’t be takin’ the Lord’s name in vain in this house,” she commanded, pointing her head towards her mother in the living room, to which Tom covered his mouth and shot a thumbs up. “And second, I figured it best just to grab all my stuff than dig through it.”
She plopped the basket on the table and herself into the seat next to Tom, stealing a chip from his plate. It crunched in her mouth as she began pulling out random things like a stethoscope, a blood pressure cuff, and meds.
“What’s that all for?” Tom asked, brows furrowed. Melanie gave back an equally confused look and went back to digging.
“What do you mean? They’re just medical supplies.”
“Well, yeah, but I mean why do you have a stethoscope and stuff?”
She paused what she was doing and looked back up at Tom.
“You do know I’m a nurse, right?” she asked. She immediately knew he didn’t by the way his eyes popped open.
After high school, Melanie had been able to go off and get her nursing degree, now working in the closest hospital which was, you guessed it, 45 minutes away.
She usually worked 12 hour shifts at the hospital Tuesday through Thursday, spending her other days at home so she could respond to small needs around town, especially on weekends when people liked to get drunk and be reckless.
“Oh, wow. I didn’t realize that. Good for you,” Tom replied, unsure of what else to say.
“It’s alright. You’ve been gone quite a while and we all know you ain’t checking in on what happens ‘round these parts no more. Now take this and let me grab the aloe from the fridge,” she said, dropping two advil on his plate and getting up.
Tom did as told, feeling the weight of what she had dismissively said. He really hadn’t checked in since leaving. Sure, his brothers and Harrison sometimes kept him in the loop. At least, he thought so.
He was trying to remember what the last big piece of news he had heard about home was, but came up short. He couldn’t even remember the last time he had seen anything on social media about home, since he’d unfollowed most of the people back home after his career took off.
They all reminded him of y/n anyways.
“You mind if I put some of this on your face?” Melanie asked, snapping him out of his thoughts. He obliged and she spread some of the cool aloe gel over his sunburn.
“Feel better?” she asked, to which he nodded. “Good, now let’s take a look at those blisters.”
She cringed when she saw how beat up his feet were. She pulled out a bit of numbing gel, hydrocolloid bandages, and fabric tape. Soon enough, she had his blisters all covered up and was handing him some more bandages and tape.
“Now I want you to leave these on as long as possible, alright? When they fall off or the spot in the middle gets too big, you’ll switch ‘em out for new. You should be in ship shape here in a few days. And you best not forget sunscreen from now on.”
“Will do. Thanks again, Mel. Hard to believe I’ve been gone long enough for you to become a nurse and all, huh?” Tom asked, half joking. Melanie nodded.
“Yeah, well. ‘Lot’s changed around here, even if it don’t look like it. You’d be surprised… Now before I forget...” Melanie quickly got up and left the room, returning with two wood and metal contraptions. “Here’s some boot stretchers to put in your shoes when you get home. Should help stretch ‘em out and I’m sure the boys would lend you some leather conditioner.”
With that, Tom put his boots back on and thanked Mrs. Carmichael for the meal, heading back outside. He found Mr. Carmichael sitting on the now-functioning four wheeler.
“Well, boy, you all good?” the older man asked.
“Yes sir. Melanie got me all taped up and your wife made a great lunch. So what else do you need me to do?”
Mr. Carmichael looked around for a moment, staring at a few things, then back at Tom.
“Well I got the rest all watered and y/n won’t be around with fertilizer till tomorrow so why don’t you go home and rest up those feet, eh?”
Tom tried to object, as it was still quite early in the day, but the old man wouldn’t have it. He eventually conceded and gave one last thank you, hopping into his old truck and heading home, pondering why y/n would be bringing fertilizer in the coming day.
A/N: hope you guys are liking this story so far! I really love the time jumping, and the progression of it in future chapters is really cool!

Flash Fic Prompt: “Malex! Senior year has just started go!”-  @acheaptrickandacheesyoneline
Rules: Write for 30 minutes uninterrupted. At the end of the 30 minutes, post whatever you come up with, unedited.
****
Alex walks through the doors on the first day of school, ready to get the day over with already. There’s an energy to the air, an excitement. It’s their senior year, which means they are just 180 days away from graduation. It also means they are the oldest kids in the school. No more bowing down to the older kids and fighting for the best parking spots, they rule this school.
They, meaning everyone else. It’s Alex’s worst nightmare. Boys like Kyle Valenti having nobody above him to keep him in line. It’s going to be 180 days of torture for him. But afterwards? At the end of those 180 days? Alex is going to finally be free of this town for good. He cannot wait.
See, Roswell High sucks for him. His classmates are all immature assholes. His teachers aren’t much better. Most of them are only halfway decent at their job and the rest are downright awful. The staff has all bought into the rumors about his sexuality and don’t even try to hide their dislike. It’s awful. But it’s at least better than being at home with his dad. Alex will take anything over that level of hell.
As much as he hates it here, though, Roswell High has three things going for it that he can’t get at home: 1) Maria DeLuca 2) Liz Parker; and though he’ll never admit it to another living soul, 3) Michael Guerin.
Michael Guerin. The curly haired boy genius who Alex has had a crush on since the sixth grade, ever since Michael had transferred in halfway through the year and asked Alex to borrow his notes because he wanted to catch up.
Sadly, Michael is straight. Painfully straight. Alex always sees him with Isobel Evans and he hates it. Sure, they are cute together. Somehow Michael always gets her to drop that fake stepford smile and actually loosen up… but he still hates it.
He grabs his stuff from his locker, looking around for Liz or Maria, but doesn’t see them. Instead he heads to his first class of the day: English.
When he arrives, he heads to the back of the room and takes the spot in the corner. He’s learned that it’s best if he has a back to the wall and can keep his eyes on his classmates. A moment later, Michael walks in. He’s not carrying anything except for the pencil behind his ear and an easygoing smile.
“What are the odds that Mrs. Register actually teaches us anything useful this year?” Michael asks him, moving to take a seat next to him. Alex’s heart stops a beat. The entire room is empty. He has his pick of chairs, and yet, he’s opted to sit next to Alex.
“Um… Slim,” Alex responds, hoping he doesn’t sound as awkwardly lovesick as he feels.
“I was hoping I would be in English with Max again. Last year, I just pretended to be confused by the reading every time and he would talk me through it, all the stupid symbolism and all. Never had to open a single book and walked away with As,” Michael says with a laugh. “Any chance you’re good at this stuff?”
“Why, so you can cheat off me?” he says with a laugh, feeling more at easy the longer Michael keeps smiling at him like that.
Michael shrugs. “We could always trade. I could tutor you in…” he pauses to look at the books in Alex’s hand before saying, “AP chem.”
“Are you in AP chem?” Alex asks, raising his eyebrows.
“I took it freshman year,” he explains. “I still remember it all.”
“Of course you did,” he says with a playful roll of his eyes.
Is Alex flirting? Is this what flirting feels like?
“Well if they had told me that waiting to take it would mean getting to have you as a lab partner, maybe I wouldn’t have been in such a rush,” Michael says with a wink.
Okay, that was flirting right? Michael is flirting back with him? Or is he just being friendly. It’s so hard to tell. Alex hasn’t been friendly with a guy for years. Last guy he talked to that could even be called friendly was in seventh grade with Kyle. Back before Kyle decided that hanging out with Alex would mean people would think they were gay together.
“Well I could probably use the help in Chemistry,” Alex explains. “I’m not sure how I got into the class. My counselor said something about having potential or something. Only reason I agreed was because she thought it would help me get into UNM, and I’m desperate to do anything that gets me out of Roswell.”
“You want to go to UNM?” Michael asks. “That’s where I want to go. I want to study agricultural engineering.”
“Well then, we’d better make sure you pass English so you can graduate then,” Alex says.
Michael smiles at him and Alex’s entire heart sings. “I work Mondays and Wednesdays at the junkyard helping Sanders work on cars. But Thursdays? At the Crashdown?”
“Sure,” he says, hardly believing his luck.
“Perfect, it’s a date,” Michael says. “Er— a study date. Where we study.”
“Yeah, study chemistry,” Alex says, teasing him just a bit as he watches Michael blush. Alex isn’t sure where the confidence comes from, but he likes the way it makes Michael squirm in his seat… not in the uncomfortable way that most of his classmates do whenever they get partnered with him for some assignment… no. This is better. Michael looks genuinely happy.
It’s weird. But Alex isn’t about to question it.

are heat-tolerant s ome are deciduous and some, in warmer regions, are evergreen other than occasional watering, honeysuckle vine care is not difficult; however, pruning is a good practice. Vine species of honeysuckle can become invasive as a ground cover, if not controlled, and require clipping to tame. Therefore, a regular shearing and shaping will keep this beauty within its boundaries. Pruning honeysuckle vine is generally done in the fall or winter, when the honeysuckle plant is dormant Read more at Gardening Know How: Honeysuckle Vine Care: How To Grow A Honeysuckle Vine In The Garden https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/vines/honeysuckle/honeysuckle-vine-care.htm Read more at Gardening Know How: Honeysuckle Vine Care: How To Grow A Honeysuckle Vine In The Garden https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/vines/honeysuckle/honeysuckle-vine-care.htm
Honeysuckle derives its name from the edible sweet nectar obtainable from its tubular flowers.[2] The name Lonicera stems from Adam Lonicer, a Renaissance botanist.
Most species of Lonicera are hardy twining climbers, with a large minority of shrubby habit; a handful of species (including Lonicera hildebrandiana from the Himalayan foothills and L. etrusca from the Mediterranean) are tender and can only be grown outside in subtropical zones. The leaves are opposite, simple oval, 1–10 cm long; most are deciduous but some are evergreen. Many of the species have sweetly scented, bilaterally symmetrical flowers that produce a sweet, edible nectar, and most flowers are borne in clusters of two (leading to the common name of "twinberry" for certain North American species)
have strongly fibrous stems which have been used for binding and textiles. The fruit is a red, blue or black spherical or elongated berry containing several seeds; in most species the berries are mildly poisonous, but in a few (notably Lonicera caerulea) they are edible and grown for home use and commerce. Most honeysuckle berries are attractive to wildlife
Several species of honeysuckle have become invasive when introduced outside their native range, particularly in New Zealand and the United States.  Invasive species include L. japonica, L. maackii, L. morrowii, and L. tatarica.
colorful, fragrant flowers[9][10] and variously colored fruit, indicating the presence of complex phytochemicals underlying these properties. Component analyses of berries from 27 different cultivars and 3 genotypes of edible honeysuckle (Lonicera caerulea var. kamtschatica) showed the presence of iridoids, anthocyanins, flavonols, flavanonols,  flavones, flavan-3-ols, and phenolic acids.[11] While sugars determine the level of sweetness in the berries, organic acids and polyphenols are responsible for the sour taste and tartness.[11] Some 51 of the same compounds in berries are found in flowers, although the proportions of these compounds varied among cultivars studied.[12]
The flowers, seeds and leaves of the plant have many medicinal uses.
What can honeysuckle be used for? Uses are wide ranging and include:
Upper respiratory tract infections, including colds, the flu and pneumonia
Other viral as well as bacterial infections
Digestive disorders including pain and inflammation of the small intestine (enteritis)
Headaches and fever
Urinary disorders
Diabetes
Arthritis
onicera caerulea has edible berries that research studies show to have powerful and impressive health properties. For starters, they are very high in disease-fighting antioxidants. Another 2017 study using animals published in the Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry points toward the ability of Lonicera caerulea berry polyphenols to modulate inflammation
(Lonicera japonica) is a variety commonly used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It has yellow-white flowers and black berries. In a 2018 research study, these honeysuckle berries demonstrated their ability to aid immune system function. The berries were able to act as an immunomodulatory agent for immunosuppressed mice subjects and significantly increased natural killer cell activity
an ingredient in natural gargles and mouthwashes due to their astringent and antibacterial properties. To create a homemade mouthwash, you can combine and boil two cups of water with a half cup of fresh honeysuckle leaves. Once the mixture comes to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer for five additional minutes
A research study published in 2015 reveals how honeysuckle may hold the potential to help people with type 2 diabetes. Researchers administered Lonicera japonica to diabetic rats for four weeks at dose of 100 mg/kg. After four weeks of this treatment, Lonicera japonica decreased high blood glucose levels and insulin resistance in the animal subjects.
Lonicera caerulea extract to animal subjects with adjuvant-induced arthritis and observed a suppression in the production of inflammatory enzymes in the spleen. Beneficial antioxidant enzymes including superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) were also recovered after administration of the extract while transaminases (often referred to as liver enzymes) were inhibited.
Honeysuckle is used for all manner of “sweetening” spells. Its specialties are workings to enhance love and sexuality. But Honeysuckle is also cultivated for good luck and prosperity. It can be added to all spells of gain to add a touch of sweetness to their energy. Like most heady florals, Honeysuckle has folkloric associations with psychic vision and dreaming.
T he fresh blossom dislikes being burnt, smolders limply, and smells atrocious anyway due to the high sugar content. Instead of burning, return the blossoms to an earthy patch of ground once they have gifted you with their fragrance and energy.
primarily a Venus herb. (Some writers have attributed it to Jupiter, which also makes sense because Honeysuckle grows like crazy and is supposed to bring luck. There’s a dash of Lunar energy in there, too.) Honeysuckle’s green smell and hidden nectar imply a correspondence with Water, but some also assign it to Earth.
vine to bind lovers together. perfume to inspire others to be generous to you. added to a Honey Jar or Sugar Bowl, used in Hoodoo to “sweeten” someone. growing outside the house will keep love alive and bring good fortune.
The sturdy stems of honeysuckle have been used to make rope as far back as the Bronze Age, and in parts of Britain are still commonly made into bridles and harnesses for pack ponies. In Geoffrey Chaucer's work, 'wodebyne' is a symbol of steadfastness in love [3], and Shakespeare wrote of it in Act IV, Scene i of A Midsummer's Nights Dream:
Sleep thou, and I will wind thee in my arms… So doth the woodbine the sweet honeysuckle Gently entwist;
The name honeysuckle comes from the tradition of children biting off the ends of the flowers to enjoy the drops of nectar inside
