The State of the Fallen

Lucius is on his first anthropological expedition, fresh out of university. He’s traveling with known anthropologist, Stede Bonnet, and his interesting crew. They’re headed to a distant island inhabited by what London is calling a ‘new species’: reprobi angeli. Or, more commonly known as, fallen angels.

In truth, they’re basically just humans with wings, even if their biology is more complex, able to change to the need. Even if they have all these rules about wings, mates, and feathers that Lucius struggles to remember.

As it turns out, Stede left quite a mess behind from his last expedition. A mess that he now has to clean up if they’re going to be able to get any work done. Lucius struggles to find his place on the mission and the commander of the angeli struggles with being drawn to the boy.

One mess begets another mess— and Lucius ends up finding just how much he can change when love is on the line. Or when his reluctant mate is taken.
