"I'd thought for certain he'd lose consciousness, but he's still maintaining control. Not only does the Demon Slayer Sword conduct anti-magic energy in massive amounts, it absorbs the magic of all who touch it. Therefore no one should be able to wield this blade, but you are without magic and so its power courses through you. You've been dictating its ebb and flow from the beginning without even realizing it. When I used my blood to heal you, it increased the rate of that power's movement. In doing so I unintentionally removed any limitations on the sword's capabilities. Now your magic power will burst forth in a massive wave and you will become a vessel in this torrent of anti-magic. [...] I suspected you were of a certain bloodline, but I was wrong. Due to your body's mutation, the mana did not dwell within you. Simply put, you're defective. But because of it, you are able to hold the sword. You aren't anything special. Not in the slightest. And that is precisely what makes you extraordinary. Now that you're in this form, all magic is powerless against you."

The Toonami Trending Rundown for March 30-31, 2019. Time sure flies by when you’re having fun, and it’s been 7 years since Toonami’s April fool’s day revival. And 7 years on, things continue to look up for Toonami and the anime industry overall as we continue to enjoy this great programming block that continues to inspire. And among other moments from the night, Asta unleashes a hidden power inside of him to stop Ladros, while Kirito and Eugeo enlist in a swordsman academy to level up their skills, and after a yearlong event, we finally reach the end of the Chimera Ant arc.
On Twitter, #Toonami would trend in the US alongside #BlackClover and #HunterXHunter. Dragon Ball Super, SAO, and Shippuden also trended alongside these shows, but not outright. Sword Art Online saw a character trend in Kirito as he duels Volo as he accidentally flung dirt onto him when training, and would also have to deal with the school bullies in Humbert and Raios. He also trains along with his disciple Leina and later on, he and Eugeo become disciples to Ronye and Tiese. With Kirito’s knack of “cheating” on Asuna and having girls eventually fall in love with him, no doubt lots of noticing from senpai was seen.
And on tumblr, #Toonami would trend alongside #BNHA and JoJo’s. The full list including statistics and tweet counts from the twitter app and Amr Rahmy’s Fan Screening analytics app can be seen below.

In Akira news, it looks like the live action adaptation might be going forward to be produced by Leonardo DiCaprio and Warner Bros. According to Variety, the California Film Commision will be giving Warner a $18.5 million tax credit on the condition that Californians are employed for production and the entire film is shot within the Golden State.
Arc System Works and Trigger has released a new Product Info Trailer for the upcoming Kill la Kill video Game: IF, planned for release on July 26 on all major platforms except the Xbox.

Jason DeMarco and Gill Austin joined our colleagues Paul and Sketch on the podcast on April Fool’s Day, as they talked about things going on with Toonami’s operations. You can check it out by clicking here.
And of course, the big news of the week…
Tumblr media
Yeah, you SAO haters are glad that Toonami rekindled relationships with Aniplex now, huh? Anyways, after a few weeks of anticipation on what Megalo Box’s replacement on the schedule will be, Toonami and Aniplex has just announced this week that the hit anime horror series The Promised Neverland will be joining the better cartoon show.
Based on the manga by written by Kaiu Shirai and Illustrated by Posuka Demizu, The Promised Neverland has been one of Shonen Jump’s biggest surprise hits in recent years with over 128 chapters and counting since it began serialization in August 2016. The show’s first season was a big hit and talking point during the Winter 2019 anime season in both Japan and on streaming, so much so that Studio CloverWorks and Aniplex have already greenlighted a second season, which will premiere sometime in 2020, as well as efforts by fans and producers were made to eventually get the show on Toonami, and their wishes were granted.
On Monday, Toonami revealed that TPN will make its debut on April 13 at 12:00am Eastern/Pacific, to go along with a significant schedule shakeup by the Adult Swim scheduling department, with Dragon Ball Super, Hunter x Hunter, and Attack on Titan staying put, SAO, Black Clover, and Shippuden moving up at least one spot, and My Hero Academia, Boruto, and JoJo’s moving down at least one spot. See the full schedule below and make sure to make plans and set your DVRs if needed.
Tumblr media
Some of the movements have be a bit jarring and can take some time to get used to for some, and let's not even get started on the outrage from JoJo's fans and the salt from SAO and Black Clover haters. According to Jason DeMarco, the schedulers wanted to switch things up based on performance metrics among other things and also told fans that “Something moving to the tail end of the premieres in the block does NOT mean we don’t care about it [and] won’t support it.” Not to mention with other acquisitions coming down the pipe and with some long running shows ending soon, the schedule churn was going to happen sooner or later. As Sam Hinke once said, Trust The Process.
Tumblr media
As The Promised Neverland won’t be ready for another week, we’ll have another doubleheader of SAO from 12:30-1:30 am Eastern. We’re not sure if it will be a double premiere of Episodes 9 and 10, or if it will be an encore airing of Episode 8 followed by the premiere of Episode 9, we've heard conflicting reports on the matter. We’ll let you know which one once we can confirm. In addition, Hunter x Hunter will also begin the Hunter Elections arc, the last until the series goes on its “Hiatus x Hiatus”, and Naruto starts heating up wtih Boruto’s School Trip arc and Shippuden’s The Taming of Nine-Tails and Fateful Encounters Arc.
Edit 4/2 @ 12:20 am EDT: We have just confirmed with the help of our media partners at @toonamisquad that this week's SAO will showcase be the latter, with an encore of Episode 8 followed by the premiere of Episode 9. Schedule your plans and set your DVRs accordingly. And yes, the infamous Episode 10 will be held off...for now.
Edit 4/3 at 1:45 pm EDT: Turns out Toonami changed their mind and Jason DeMarco confirmed that they actually will have a doubleheader of Episodes 9 and 10, and will edit the infamous episode 10 down for broadcast appropriate standards. All i can say is get ready.
Until next week, stay gold as always.

Top 10 Greatest Leonardo DiCaprio Movies of All Time
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source We all love Leo for his promising performance. May he be a bad boy, a romantic boyfriend, or a mentally-ill child, we couldn't deny the fact that he's an incredible actor. Plus, he's the King of Freak-Out scenes! Now, let's find out his top 10 greatest movie roles of all time. 1. Titanic
Tumblr media
His most popular movie performance of all is playing Jack Dawson in the award-winning 1997 movie, Titanic. This box-office, record-breaking movie that stunned millions of people across the globe has made a worldwide phenomenon that goes deep down in history. Besides the heart-breaking story of the tragic ship, there's also Leo and Kate's chemistry that binds the audiences into a more level of attachment. No doubt, it's still the summit of Leo's career, and one of the greatest old-school movies to come out of Hollywood in the last 20 years. Fun facts: Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet committed to the film even before the script was written, on the basis only of a 165-page outline James Cameron had written. The hands seen sketching Rose are not Leonardo DiCaprio's, but director James Cameron's. In post-production, Cameron, who is left-handed, mirror-imaged the sketching shots so the artist would appear to be right-handed, like DiCaprio. Both Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio learned how to dance the polka for the scenes set at the party in the third-class compartments.Johnny Depp was offered the role of Jack Dawson, but turned it down, and considers it a big regret. 2. What's Eating Gilbert Grape
Tumblr media
Source In this emotional, tear-jerking movie, our young Leo plays Arnie Grape, who is a mentally handicapped teenager. He's the younger brother of Gilbert (Johnny Depp), who struggles to bring their family out of difficult circumstances. Leo's performance as a mentally disabled teen is so convincing, it'll make you think that he's definitely not normal at all. This movie brought our young Leo to his first Oscar-nominated role. It's just so sad that he won't be able to tell his "Mamma" about his Oscar award, because she won't wake up anymore. Fun facts: Leo said that playing Arnie Grape was "the most fun I've ever had."When getting into character, Leo remarked of it. I spent a few days at a home for mentally retarded teens. We just talked and I watched their mannerisms. People have these expectations that mentally retarded children are really crazy, but that isn't so. It's refreshing to see them because everything's so new to them."Leo created Arnie's trademark flicking his finger against his nose, describing it as a sort of "brain wipe...like Arnie is massaging the inside of his brain."Leo really did not bathe during the period in filming when Arnie refused to go near water! 3. Romeo + Juliet
Tumblr media
Before Leo had the role of Jack in Titanic, he's already a hot icon for being the handsome, sexy, and romantic boyfriend that every single ladies dream of having. Set in the modern era, Baz Luhrmann's histrionic, gang-war-filled setting take on the classic play. Although Kate and Leo's chemistry is so much perfect in Titanic, it is undeniably true that Leo and Claire's pair up is also stunning. Fun facts: Leonardo DiCaprio's version of Romeo's speech at Juliet's bier was so good it movedClaire Danes to tears, nearly ruining the scene. The moment the director yelled "cut!," Danes smacked DiCaprio on the arm and said, "Don't make me cry. I'm supposed to be comatose, here!"Leonardo DiCaprio was Baz Luhrmann's first choice to play Romeo.Claire Danes and Leonardo DiCaprio initially did not get along well on set. Danes accused Leonardo DiCaprio of being immature, while Leo said Danes was just uptight. 4. Catch Me If You Can
Tumblr media
Source Who would've thought that this handsome, good-looking man is a fugitive? Not in real life though, but in Steven Spielberg's hit movie, "Catch Me if You Can". Leo is Frank Abagnale, a real-life con-man who traveled around the country and lived the high life as he impersonated pilots, lawyers, and doctors. Leo's acting from one character to another is just so promising, we'll all convinced that he's not just impersonating. Fun facts: To get her to achieve the way he wanted her to sloppily kiss Leonardo DiCaprio, Steven Spielberg asked Amy Adams to pretend she was starving to death and eating a cheeseburger.According to the real Frank Abagnale Jr. approximately 80 percent of the movie is true. When Frank begins recruiting decoy flight attendants; when announcing the girls picked he announces the actresses by real name.17-year-old Frank tells Brenda he's 28 years old, which was Leonardo DiCaprio's true age when Catch Me If You Can premiered in 2002. 5. The Departed
Tumblr media
Source One of the most intense roles that Leo ever had was playing the role of Billy Costigan as a cop infiltrating the mob. Together with Matt Damon as a mobster infiltrating the police force, the film is an intricate, fascinating tale of competing cat-and-mouse games. However, the film director and his screenwriter infuse it with so much tragedy that it winds up becoming something almost mythic. But seeing Leo's performance is just so intense, in a totally unglamorous way by being a desperate man who almost loses his identity. It's one of his all-time greatest performances. Fun facts: Leo could've won an Oscar award for this movie. A possible reason why he did not receive an Oscar nomination for his performance in this movie was because the Warner Bros. Studios initially did not want to favor him over his co-stars and place him in the leading actor category. The studio favored his leading performance in Blood Diamond (2006) (which eventually got him a nomination). DiCaprio himself refused to campaign against his male co-stars in the supporting actor category, so Warner bought no supporting actor ads for DiCaprio, and he did not receive a nomination.Leonardo DiCaprio was cast in the title role in The Good Shepherd (2006).Leonardo DiCaprio called his one-on-one scene with Jack Nicholson "one of the most memorable moments of my life." 6. Django Unchained
Tumblr media
Source Playing the matured role of a slave owner Calvin Candie in a smooth and attractive way is definitely a credit to Leo's amazing talent. His dirty, racist, and demented heart on Quentin Tarantino's hit movie "Django Unchained" brought him into a remarkable role of being the bad guy playing his cards on a sophisticated way. This is a man who breeds and forces his slaves to fight each other, who has a weird fascination with France, and who is, at heart, a murderous psychotic. Fun facts: When Leonardo DiCaprio's character Calvin Candie smashes his hand on the dinner table, the actor accidentally crushed a small stemmed glass with his palm and really began to bleed. DiCaprio ignored it, stayed in character, and continued with the scene. Tarantino was so impressed that he used this take in the final print, and when he called cut, the room erupted in a standing ovation. DiCaprio's hand was bandaged and he suggested the idea of smearing blood onto the face of Kerry Washington. Tarantino and Washington both liked this, so Tarantino got some fake blood together.During the filming of one of the dinner scenes, Leonardo DiCaprio had to stop the scene because he was having "a difficult time" using so many racial slurs. Samuel L. Jackson then pulled him aside telling him, "Motherfucker, this is just another Tuesday for us." 7. The Basketball Diaries
Tumblr media
Source Another young Leo movie, this is just one of the many proofs that Leo was born to act. His role in the movie adaptation of Jim Carroll's memoir, The Basketball Diaries, is a big shift from playing the sweet, innocent, and mentally-challenged Arnie in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" to a high school basketball star, who eventually becomes broken, and worse, a homeless drug addict. But Leo's flexible character made him so amazing in this movie, which brought a dramatic atmosphere in his struggles as a broken teenager. Fun facts: The guy Jim talks to in the underground drugden, is the real Jim Carroll.Leonardo DiCaprio and Juliette Lewis previously appeared together in What's Eating Gilbert Grape (1993).This is the first film with Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Wahlberg. They would later appear together in The Departed.Jim Carroll was unaware of who Leonardo DiCaprio was at first. "When they first told me it was gonna be Leo, I didn't know who he was," Carroll told The Los Angeles Times. "If they'd said the kid from Growing Pains (1985), I would have known, because when I first saw that kid, I said, 'This kid has a lot of presence.' I said, 'That kid is very pretty. He's gonna do well.'"To prepare for his role, Leonardo DiCaprio hung out in Greenwich Village and went to a poetry reading with Carroll. 8. The Aviator
Tumblr media
Source This movie is another Martin Scorsese's. Leo plays the role of Howard Hughes in his early years of being an inventor, and at the same time, a bigtime millionaire businessman. He's facing a lot of problems in almost everything. As he tries to continue chasing his plans and dreams, there are times when he's about to get mad, and Leo's characterization on this part of Howard's life is truly convincing. He's definitely a great actor for this movie. Fun facts: Leonardo DiCaprio spent a day with Jane Russell to hear her memories and impressions of Howard Hughes. She was very impressed with DiCaprio's visit and told him that Hughes was a quiet yet extremely stubborn man who always got his way in the end.Howard Hughes' Los Angeles home in the film was actually the home he lived on Muirland Drive.Leonardo DiCaprio received an Oscar nomination for playing Howard Hughes.Leonardo DiCaprio (standing roughly 6ft) is several inches smaller than the actual Howard Hughes (6ft4). 9. Revolutionary Road
Tumblr media
This 2008 movie is kind of special, as Leo and his Titanic partner Kate were reunited for this adaptation of Richard Yates' classic novel "Revolutionary Road". This movie is mainly about suburban despair and two adults who realizes that life is not as easy as one-two-three. Contrary to their adventurous and colorful characters in Titanic, their roles in this movie is matured and somehow full of problems. Leo's excellent performance in this movie is his signature freak-out, where we're all stunned and scared for a moment as he burst out his anger and disappointment. Fun facts: While directing the love scene between Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, director Sam Mendes (husband of Winslet at the time) opted to watch the monitor from another room. This was the second movie Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet worked on together since Titanic (1997). Paramount Pictures, which distributed the early film in the U.S., was the worldwide distributor of this film. This film marked the second time Kate Winslet has been in a movie where she makes love in a vintage car, and someone's hand hits the window and slides down it in the throes of passion. The first time was in Titanic (1997). 10. The Man in the Iron Mask
Tumblr media
Source After the success of Titanic comes this movie. Leo, who played the sneering, playboy King Louis XIV with his long-imprisoned twin has become a hit after Leo's stardom in Titanic. Young Leo was so versatile, he was able to play two different characters in one movie! Besides, we can also see Leo in his elegant robes while hiding the fact that there's something more dreadful in those shiny dress. Fun facts: Leonardo DiCaprio's mask was made out of polystyrene.Louis XIV did have a brother named Philippe, but he was not a twin. He was several years younger, a flamboyant homosexual, and had the title Duc d'Orleans.MGM discovered the audience the movie attracted was "directly related to appeal of Leonardo DiCaprio", being 55% female and 46% under the age of 25.The film cast includes two Oscar winners: Leonardo DiCaprio and Jeremy Irons; and two Oscar nominees: John Malkovich and Gérard Depardieu. Druck episode 7 reaction
I fell behind with Druck because the release of the clips from this episode threw me off, lol, but I’m catching up now!
Some of these comments are outdated as I wrote them before seeing the clips that came out after this episode.
Episode 7
Clip 1 - Leonardo DiCaprio sweetie...
Sam’s hair!!! Love it.
Unfortunately I do not love that Sam is somewhat encouraging Kiki in her Alexander-related delusions.
Tbh, I wonder how Sam copes being a friend of Kiki since Kiki is racist, but then again racist people can be selective. They’ll have bigoted beliefs about one marginalized group, but they’re OK with another group.
Kiki referencing Titanic and being like the film is based on a true story!!! And Amira being like, uh, just the iceberg and sinking part. Well, Titanic is applicable to real life, in that Kiki and Alexander are the sinking ship. But also, Jack died at the end of Titanic, so maybe Kiki should pick something with a happier ending, anyway.
Mia has incorporated the famous red lipstick into her style.
Amira asking about the party and Sam saying Mia twerked, good for her.
I adore Amira messing with the girls and saying costume parties are haram. Even Mia, the self-designated progressive feminist of the group, falls for it. But I love that Amira can joke with them and tease their expectations and it’s casual and friendly. Pay attention, Kiki.
Awww, even the Hanna/Jonas guilt making out is too cute! I’m going to savor it while it lasts.
Clip 2 - Hanna confesses to Matteo
Matteo settled on a different hairstyle, I see.
So I guess Hanna did end up joining the refugee tutoring program, and Matteo did too. Despite the less-than-enlightened attitudes we saw from the group representatives in the first episode, I’m glad to see Hanna is involved in another activity, at least. Since she’s very insecure, volunteering and participating in activities can give you some sense of purpose and direction. And Matteo - I don’t think we ever saw Isak really involved in anything at school? Just kosegruppa, which he was blackmailed into. Which is fine, I just like seeing Matteo doing something productive. Also, I enjoy seeing something that Hanna and Matteo do together, whether that was intentional or not on their parts.
After seeing a few versions of this scene, I prefer it when the Isak character needles the Eva a bit into confessing what’s up rather than Eva just spilling her secret unprompted. It makes sense in that Hanna/Eva might need a push and also gives a subtle hint about Matteo’s/Isak’s investment in their relationship status.
I laughed out loud at Hanna being like “I made out with Sam” and Matteo being like “Well yeah, girl Sam is hot.” I mean, she is a babe, but Sam is the one girl Chris character who does not flirt with the Isak character (from what I remember), and it turns out to be the one time that the Isak says that the girl Chris is hot. Even though I don’t think it’ll matter much, lmao.
Also Matteo being like whyyyy are you telling me this right now … in front of a bunch of students within earshot. True!
LMAO AND FATIMA AGREES WITH MATTEO, HOLY SHIT? I hope that this poor girl isn’t going to be like … a red herring as to who spilled the beans.
Clip 3 - Kiki gets a much-needed pep talk
Kiki just cuts straight through the bullshit and figures Hanna has a thing for Samuel.
Well, now we get the “I’m not a lesbian” comments from Kiki. I wish they would go there with her. Honestly, after Skam Austin, this is the version of Skam I would most expect an f/f storyline (other than Skam France which has girl Alex as bi but it’s not much more than Word of God and a couple offhand comments.)
Kiki asks Mia if she’s a lesbian and Mia says she doesn’t think in categories like that … which does not rule out the possibility of her being into girls … I am just saying …
“Just because I’m pretty does it mean I need to have a penis inside me?” Well damn Mia, when you put it like that.
Alexander repeats the same bullshit lines on different girls. I bet he compliments them on their stomachs because so many girls are self-conscious about having rolls or belly fat.
Kiki is near tears, and she gets Vilde’s line about everyone saying it’s not her fault, but it is her fault … because that’s how she feels. I’m glad they kept in that line, and it does make you think about how “of course it’s me” would feel in light of S2. I mean apparently Vilde didn’t care that it was Noora who ended up with William, but if you think about it, William apparently was willing to settle on a girl. It just had to be Noora. And IDK, to me that would kind of sting regardless of my ultimate feelings for this dude - because apparently I wasn’t enough to make him stop acting like an asshole, but for another girl he could act like something resembling a decent person (in certain opinions).
The girls making a Hanna and Mia sandwich with Kiki inside is so sweet.
Clip 4 - Mia tells off Alexander
“You’re a proud, confident pussy!” Aw, that’s a lovely line in context.
Mia is, out of all the Nooras, the one who most feels like a feminist or at least someone who is heavily guided by feminist principles and has done the required reading.
I was going to say it was a bummer that Sam went against Kiki’s idea to stand up to Alexander, but the way the actress played it, plus the line “That’s how I always do it” made it feel like there was more going on with her than just not wanting the party invitations to stop. Like the pressure to be chill and not take anything too seriously, especially relationships, was something that weighs down on her. If she’s like girl Chris, perhaps she feels the need to be the fun party one, too. (Heh, I actually thought of the infamous Gone Girl “cool girl” speech, believe it or not. A lot of these insensitive teenage boys don’t want a girl who’s going to have feelings and inconvenient stuff like that, they just want a girl who’s cool to do whatever. And I think there is some pressure on girls to not be like “those other girls” who cause drama by speaking up for themselves and not taking crap from boys.)
And I like Amira’s point of view, which was the same as Sana’s, but which was explicitly compassionate and trying to help Kiki keep her dignity.
Also Hanna is just like “No idea” which is in-character for the whole not-having-her-own-opinions, going-along-with-what-everyone-else-does theme.
Alexander wasn’t as bad of an actor as I expected, though he needs to work on his dead eyes. Maybe he meant it but it’s going to be hard to deal with that in the long run.
His version of this put-down is one of the cruelest in a way, though. It doesn’t even feel like he winds her up as much, he’s just callous. And he had the temerity to tell her to stop crying. Because crying is inconvenient for him.
He mimics Mia’s smirk back at her when she steps up which was a nice touch.
I’m glad that Kiki stuck around in this version so she got to hear someone stick up for her. It is sad that her moment becomes Mia’s moment but it’s nice to see the girls immediately defending her, Amira stroking her arm.
I’m not sure Mia had quite the fire to pull off that scene; however I am liking her more and more in general because as I mentioned above, I think she’s convincing as a baby feminist character and she’s good with supporting the other girls.
I loooooooove Sam giving him the finger as she walks off. itswhathedeserves.gif
Clip 5 - Hanna and Jonas in bed
They’re easily the best Eva/Jonas outside of the original. They just have great chemistry.
“By the way, I found out there are studies that prove the danger of cell phone radiation.” Wow, I didn’t know Jonas was channeling my 72-year-old auntie.
So cute with him talking about getting down and asking for her hand!
“Society made me do it, a boy from the streets like me, what can I do?” Jonas is definitely the most endearing drug dealer in the Skam extended universe. Ahem.
That description makes him seem like Aladdin.
Oh god they’re so cute. I don’t have much to say except they’re fabulous together.
don’t break them up
Clip 6 - Fight!
NO NOT THE SCARF. Wrapping her scarf around his neck! I know what happens next for them, you assholes!!!
The girls are ridiculously cute when they pose for a photo. Mia giving Hanna a kiss!
Also they love Mia so much for her smackdown. And Amira stroking Kiki’s arm <3
Brawl time!
Lol, this is the least convincing Iben.
DON’T TOUCH SAM’S BEAUTIFUL BLUE HAIR YOU JERK
I love that all of them got involved in the fight. Amira seemed like she was trying to stop the fight at first but then it looked like she was trying to put that girl in a headlock. Kiki went all in, too, jumping on that girl’s back and holding on with her thighs.
Lol, a teacher actually yelling at them to knock it off and them breaking it off on their own? How novel.
Clip 7 - Hanna and a reptile
Hanna actually has a bruise from the fight so that’s a good detail.
That line from Matteo about Carlo being friends with Jonas and not with Hanna ... buddy … you’re going to want to consider that line more closely, considering I can think of someone who’s friends with both Jonas AND Hanna who’s also screwed her over.
Jonas asking her to stop calling when her phone background is all pics of her and Jonas being affectionate :( :( :(  You know, just to rub it in.
Matteo were you fucking SMIRKING after you gave Hanna a hug? Is that an actual smirk or is that just his face? Duuuuude, I do not approve.
Clip 8 - Leonie dropping hints
Lmao, it’s not really funny but those are some A+ celebrity sunglasses that Hanna is wearing to presumably cover up her bruise and hide from the world.
Love how shook and upset Hanna gets from just spotting Jonas through the window.
Kiki is probably the biggest asshole of any of the Vildes but not gonna lie, I still kinda like her? She is a jerk but she feels like a very specific, realistic type of jerk, like she feels very believable as a character.
Also, something I’ve never thought much about is how Vilde/Kiki fixates on Eva/Hanna being considered a “slut” to the whole school, and obviously some of that for Vilde has to do with the impact it’ll have on their bus group. But this is also happening right after Vilde lost her virginity to the most popular guy in school, wore his hoodie that marked her as a trophy, and was treated like trash by him afterwards. So for Vilde/Kiki/the equivalent characters, is it possible that there’s some projection going on here? I don’t know if I’d say for certain because she seems so eager to have sex, but the aftermath also messes with her self-worth, and that’s mostly indicated by her eating disorder but I think it’s possible she may have internalized some ideas about slut-shaming that could apply to herself.
Mia loves Hanna so much. I don’t get the mega-flirty vibes between them I got from Eva/Noora or Eva/Eleonora, but Mia just cares for her a whole lot. I’ve had some doubts about Mia’s performance but the writing for her has made me love her quite a bit.
Oh, I love that Hanna kinda snapped at Leonie and that Mia took a bit more of the caring, leave-her-alone approach at first but then got all forceful and told her to go away.
Mia either thinks Kiki needs to shut the fuck up or she’s noticing that something’s up with her attitude.
Clip 9 - Hanna and her dad
Is that plant symbolic of something? “There’s a lot going on and I just forgot to water it”? Or you know, sometimes a plant is just a plant.
The dad! I love him being all concerned by his daughter’s banged-up face.
And he’s being so sweet and supportive when he sees Hanna is having a hard time! Gosh, Druck is really like the sweet and soft remake. The baby lamb version of Skam.
Hanna also freely confesses to him that Jonas broke up with her instead of it slipping out in a fit of frustration like with Eva. The dad is sympathetic and wants to help and tries to reassure her that it can happen to anyone, but Hanna is just too upset and stressed for it to have any effect.
General Comments:
I have no idea what’s up with the production on this one. I’ll be so bummed if it doesn’t get another season. Honestly, this is still my favorite of the remakes - it’s the one where I have the most fondness for the characters. I enjoy almost everyone by this point.
This is also easily the version where I would want a S3 and S4 the most (other than a Shay-focused season of Skam Austin), as I think Matteo and Amira could potentially pull them off; they both have conveyed plenty of youthful vulnerability. Mia/Alexander is the least convincing Noorhelm yet but Mia has grown on me a lot. And I think girl Sam and Jonas are fantastic and would love to see more from them.
Just to say it again: girl Sam is wonderful and I would looooove just a full season of her.
I guess the Druck team posted a little message on IG about Kiki’s eating disorder and a link to a hotline? That’s really great, I’m glad they did that.
Not to compare remakes but when Meg and Marlon from Skam Austin make out: 😒 😒 😒 When Hanna and Jonas make out: 😄 😄 😄
I don’t speak German so if I miss some context, feel free to correct me.
If you got this far, thank you for reading!

It's safe to say that the modern era of superhero films has literally changed the face of cinema forever. And, while the MCU has many movies in its franchise, one of its most iconic works is the very first Avengers film.
RELATED: Retro-Cast: If The Thor Movies Were Made In The 1990s
The MCU had seen a lot of success before the release of The Avengers, but the 2012 superhero crossover film brought Marvel to new heights. However, the Marvel Comics Universe existed for decades before that. So, if The Avengers had been made in the 2000s instead of the 2010s, who would have been the perfect casting choices for every major role?
10 Maria Hill - Michelle Monaghan
Tumblr media
Although Maria Hill is a relatively small role in The Avengers, the character still requires a quite dynamic actress to play her. Maria needs to be a typical all-American girl with a badass edge, and the audience needs to be able to take her seriously as the kind of person who could go head to head against a superhuman and hold her own.
A tough but still emotionally resonant actress like Michelle Monaghan could easily embody all the facets of a character like Maria.
9 Phil Coulson - Bryan Cranston
Tumblr media
While Bryan Cranston is obviously known best for playing Walter White in Breaking Bad, he's a wonderful character actor who can play very tough characters but is also great at tapping into his sillier side.
While Agent Coulson is an essential part of SHIELD, he's also a superhero super-fan at heart, and it would have been fun to see Cranston tap into that childish glee in a 00s version of The Avengers.
8 Nick Fury - Denzel Washington
Tumblr media
Director Fury is actually a pretty tough role to cast, because while he is more of a supporting character who is the force behind the whole Avengers operation, it needs to be believable that the Avengers would actually take him seriously.
It's easy to see why Samuel L. Jackson was chosen for the role in the contemporary films, but a super intense actor like Denzel Washington could just as convincingly play Fury in the 2000s.
7 Black Widow - Cate Blanchett
Tumblr media
It took an embarrassingly long time for the MCU to begin to push its female characters into the spotlight, so when casting the lone female hero in The Avengers, it really needed to be a strong actress who would stand out in an ensemble of mostly men.
RELATED: Retro-Cast: If Suicide Squad Was Made In The 1980s
There's no better actress to take on that massive task than Cate Blanchett, one of the most talented and transformative actresses of her generation.
6 Hawkeye - Jamie Foxx
Tumblr media
One of the most entertaining aspects of The Avengers is that this is a superhero team with some edge to it, and few of the heroes in the original Avengers film has more edge to him than Hawkeye.
Clint Barton is both intimidating and witty, so someone with Jamie Foxx's physical presence as well as his comedic instincts would have been a great casting choice.
5 Thor - Hugh Jackman
Tumblr media
Obviously, few actors have made their mark on superhero cinema in the way that Hugh Jackman has, and it's almost criminal to imagine anyone else playing Wolverine. However, it's hard to deny that he'd also make a wonderful Thor in the 00s version of The Avengers.
Clearly, he has the physical stature to play the character, but exploring Jackman's more humorous side as an actor would be a lot of fun too.
4 Iron Man - Leonardo DiCaprio
Tumblr media
Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the most respected actors of his generation, and since the blockbuster success of Titanic, he hasn't really taken on many more mainstream roles in fluffier popcorn fare.
RELATED: Retro-Cast: If The Iron Man Movies Were Made In The 1990s
But, if anyone were to take on the role of Tony Stark in that era, it should have been Leo. He could obviously tackle Tony's more serious side easily, but it would also be fun to see him play the more lighthearted sides of Iron Man as well.
3 Captain America - Aaron Eckhart
Tumblr media
Although on the surface it seems like Steve Rogers is a bit of a corny goody two-shoes, the role of Captain America actually requires a lot more depth and nuance than it might seem at first glance.
Actor Aaron Eckhart obviously has that all-American look to him, but he's also capable of playing the subtleties of Steve's character in a heartfelt way without coming across as cheesy or insincere.
2 The Hulk - Joaquin Phoenix
Tumblr media
Joaquin Phoenix has obviously hit a bit of a career high recently with his Academy Award-winning turn as Arthur Fleck in Joker, but his astonishing versatility as an actor has been readily apparent for decades earlier.
The Hulk is a character that can easily turn one-dimensional in the wrong hands, but Phoenix could undoubtedly play the character with all the emotion it requires. He knows when to reel it in and when to wear his heart on his sleeve, so watching him play the duality of this character would be wonderful.
1 Loki - Jim Carrey
Tumblr media
The Avengers is a film with an apocalyptic premise, but it has a very humorous heart as well. The character of Loki needs to embody both of these ideas at once, so it's hard to imagine an actor who'd better capture both sides of the film than Jim Carrey.
Carrey is obviously one of the most famous comedians alive, but he's also an astoundingly talented dramatic actor, so he would have made a brilliant Loki.

The first thing that jumped out to me was in chapter six, it says “We talk of Hollywood as the “dream factory,” the makers of “movie magic.” We want our lives and loves to be “just like in the movies.” The movies are “larger than life,” and movie stars are much more glamorous than television stars. The movies, in other words, hold a very special place in our culture.” My whole life I've definitely felt like a person overly affected by movies, I see a movie and I want to be a part of that life or I read a book and can’t stop thinking about the characters, their lives, their problems, their perfect love lives. I was slightly surprised by the fact that most movie tickets are bought by people aged 25 and over because I’d imagine people would take their young children to the movies more often but I also do see the issue or why younger people aren’t going to the movies because nowadays we have all the streaming systems and can basically access any movie at home. Another thing that stood out to me or something I can relate to is the large number of overseas tickets, where the author says you don’t have to speak english to enjoy the movies. My boyfriend doesn’t speak english, although he isn’t from the overseas majority of the movies made in the United States and that are in english they watch in Mexico. My favorite example of this is my boyfriend telling me “hay una película muy famosa en méxico, se llama el titanic” which is “there is a very famous movie in Mexico, it’s called the Titanic.” I obviously told him that’s a very famous movie here as well and it was filmed here and is originally in english, which he argued with telling me Leonardo DiCaprio speaks spanish as his defense. I’ve spent a lot of time watching movies originally in english but with the audio dubbed in spanish and to me it's quite irritating when their mouths don’t match the words so that's something that surprises me with how popular overseas sales are but I suppose if that was the only option you’d get used to it. Here I'm linking the trailer for the Titanic in Spanish. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69f1EjkKF6E) Moving on to chapter 7 I find it interesting there is still debate on who exactly invented the radio, that is something I would assume they had figured out by now. I also found it interesting that they only changed the laws to put radios on ships after the Titanic happened in 1912. Also in regards to radios and Music I was surprised to see in our text  only “Three major recording companies control 63% of the global recorded music market.” but when you really think about it, that does make sense because I feel like we only ever see the same few, Sony and Universal for example. In chapter 8 I think something so interesting to me is the pilot episodes of tv shows. I’ve always been interested in pilot episodes and how they put so much work and money into just seeing if people would like a show and honestly I always thought how scary that must be but when I read in chapter 8 that there are 4,000 new show proposals a year and only about 90 are chosen it makes sense for the pilot and that they only choose the best ones. I suppose if the show flops it’s incredibly disappointing to put that much into the first episode but if it is a hit then it’s all worth it.

GOSPEL OF MY LIFE (2008)
GOSPEL OF MY LIFE
Life is like a book
Everyday has a new page,
With adventures to tell
Lessons to learn
And tales of good deeds to remember
My friends, as I am about to leave this Earth, may this gift I am leaving you behind serve as a memoir for you to remember and keep me within your hearts forever. May you treasure this gift and hope you will also learn from them as I have.
CHAPTER 1 These things I have Lived For…
“What’s my purpose in life?” This question has always been hunting me since I have come to think about my future. Why, indeed am I here?
Now I can only give you five of these things I have lived for.
First is God. My life is my offering to Him that is why I have lived it as purely as I could to be acceptable for him and be called His daughter.
Second, I have lived for my purpose, whatever it could be, I wanted to live for me to discover why I am really here in this earth and I probably did discover it. ;-)
Third, I wanted to live until I reach my shining star, until I reach my goal in life, until I could take hold of my ultimate dream.
Fourth, I have lived for my family and my loved ones for they are my foundation to whom I can always depend on.
Fifth, I have lived for my life. I have lived enjoying my life fully so I may be able to satisfy myself of the love of God for me as His child, as a member of his family. And perhaps I had.
CHAPTER 2 These Things I have Loved in Life…
There are lots of things I have loved in my in my whole life. I love life so much and all the things that goes with it whether good or bad. They are so many to mention but I will tell you some of my favorites.
I loved reading, watching TV, and sleeping. If you did not find me doing the other, I was certainly doing the other. But I am more seen propped with pillows, sitting beside the window, reading. I like Dr. Robin Cook’s science-fiction books. I love Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt adventures. I also enjoy reading inspirational books and leadership books by Max Lucado. Worth mentioning as well my number one book, my Bible. :)
With regards to food, any was fine just as long as it will not cause me stomachache, allergies and asthma. The list is quite a lot but we can just settle on veggies and fruits.
I loved watching action movies as well as inspirational ones. I specially liked The Matrix Trilogy (Keanu Reeves), Avatar (Sam Worthington & Zoe Saldana), Titanic (Leonardo DiCaprio & Kate Winslet), Tears of the Sun (Bruce Willis), Artificial Intelligence: AI (Haley Joel Osmont), Pay it Forward (Haley Joel Osmont & Helen Hunt), Notting Hill (Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant), Fireproof (Kirk Cameron & Erin Bethea) and a lot more!
Sometimes, when I preferred something serene, I just watched the once-azure sky slowly turning into grey and darker as the evening sky approaches and perhaps listen to the small night sounds drifting from afar or simply listen to music.
I loved silence, too. Believe you me. Aside from the fact that I usually study when everyone had already dozed off to sleep, this is also the time when I had my quite times with God.
There are also times when I preferred to do nothing. Just sit and listen to the night sounds. I loved it when I hear the whooping sound o f the wind and the musical tone of the falling rain. Moreover, I sometimes wonder how life would be without them. So, so…boring. Don't you think so, too?
So there you have it, you now know some of my favorites but there is still one thing more. One should also treasure and love his/her life for it is the greatest gift one could ever give and also receive.
CHAPTER 3 These are My Life’s Achievements…
As young as I am, I wouldn’t probably say that I have achieved much in my life for there are still so many things I long to do. But for the 19 years, I could say that I have achieved more than I expected.
As a daughter, I hope I did all my best for my parents to be happy for I believed that being one of the sources of other people’s happiness is already a great achievement.
Being committed as a student, was also an achievement. Being able to bring glory to one’s school, division and even region is another one. Being a volunteer of Silliman Pathways Youth Group which supports fellow scholars, I can say, was one of my greatest achievement as of now and that being able to lend a helping hand is very satisfying.
Indeed, what an achievement it was to be a blessing to someone else’s life.
CHAPTER 4 These Experiences I have Cherished…
All of life’s experiences, for me, were really worth cherishing (whether they may be good or bad) for both are still essential to each and every being’s existence. I bet these pages will not suffice for the space needed to tell you the experiences I cherished. So please allow me to share only so few of them.
One of those was when I was in grade 6 and won, among all other elementary schools in Dumaguete City, the 5th place in Editorial Writing. The sad part though was I was not able to join the regional due to lack of funds. I felt quite sad about it but it was as if a whole bunch of me was happy to discover my writing skill. And so, I decided to develop it with the aim that, someday, I will reach the national level. It was quite an absurd idea though for a 6th grader.
When I was in high school, I joined  journalism workshops and eventually became a staff of our official school paper - THE HORN. And so it was during my 4th year when I became one of Region 7’s three Feature Writers to represent the region to the national level press conference. Truly, I really could not quite imagine how a young mind’s wish was realized. I knew then that if one really aims for something and focuses him/herself to it, and no matter what the obstacles were, are, and will be along the way, he/she will always be able to reach them with God’s abiding grace.
Another one of my experiences was when I was still in high school. I was then a Math Club member and we did an outreach program at one of the Municipality of Valencia’s (a neighboring town southwest of Dumaguete) orphanages. We brought food, clothing and other gifts for the kids.
Upon reaching the place manned by Nuns, the children were also their welcoming us with their innocent smiles. They were jumping, laughing and running around as if it was their first time to be visited. What I saw on my part though was the exact opposite. Hidden behind my smile was my sympathy for the children who were up to 10 years of age and there were also babies! My heart wholly went out for them. My heart was breaking.
There, we had a program and the children also presented their talents. We prayed, we ate, and then we chatted for hours. Upon hearing their stories, I felt a sudden rush of pain, fear and guilt. Pain because of what the children were going through. Fear of what they might become in the future. Guilt because instead of thinking that I am lucky, I sometimes am attacked with discontentment of what I had.
What I learned then was to be content with whatever I had while also working with what I do not have, be happy with it and thank God all the time.
CHAPTER 5 These Sufferings Have Seasoned Me…
Why me? Why do we have to suffer?  Why are we experiencing all these hurts and aches?  Haven’t you asked the same question yourself?  I had. Loads of times. But as I grew up, I came to realize that what I thought about and experienced as a “suffering” was no more than an inch to what others are struggling with.
Let me tell you one that had caused me and my family so much pain- a story from our past.
Before, even when I was still young, I always ( I bet my siblings, too) notice this on-and-off strife of my parents against my father’s siblings.  I did not exactly know the reason, perhaps I was too young then. Then came the years of peacefulness.  But it was when my Grandma (father’s mother) died on the Christmas day of 2002.  I thought, with the loss of our beloved, we will become closer but it did not happen.  The next year, Eldest Uncle (Father’s eldest brother) passed away but instead of helping one another, this created a greater distance between his family and ours.  Then during the next year, next eldest uncle died.
Those three successive years was such a traumatizing one for our family.  Those three years took the biggest chunk of our ties as a family.  Those three years triggered our family ties with our father’s side to loosen up fully.  I was confused why, during that time of crisis, we happened to become like that—broken apart.
Now, our family has been living with ourselves alone. Though we had no one but each other, we go through each obstacle in life together.  Through these hurdles in life, we became stronger and prepared, ready for whatever might lay ahead of us.
So why do we have to suffer? I, with all my heart, believe that God wants us to have stronger faith, to become better and stronger individuals.  He wants us to know that He’s always there, that He’s waiting for us to call Him and that His strength is ours to lean on.  He wants us to realize that His compassion is ours to receive and even in times of our stability, He is always there. He is preparing our character to receive that gift we have long been waiting to have.
CHAPTER 5 These Lessons Have Taught Me…
In  my young and human  mind, I just could not quite comprehend why we, humans, were so vulnerable to mistakes and why we could not simply avoid and prevent ourselves from doing so. I will be sharing some of the lessons I have learned through the course of my 19 years of existence in this world.
Before, when I was still a child, I was really such a “kapayason” child meaning I was such a “crybaby” that whenever I was scolded, I cried. Whenever I had a problem that seemed to be out of control, I cried.  I sought out everything to crying.  But it was one day when my brother asked me what’s the use of my crying when everything’s already been done and could not be changed anymore. He opened my eyes then.  “ No use to crying over spilled milk.”  Why cry with such simple things?  Why cry when you could choose to pray instead?
Crying is neither bad nor is it wrong. Furthermore, I even read somewhere that crying is a gift from God. He gave it for us to have company whenever we are alone, it also cleanses the soul that full recovery and healing may do their part afterwards.
And I guess instead of relying only to crying, why not pray.  There, one will have every opportunity to communicate with God.
Another one of my very bad habit was what we call the “manana” habit. In Filipino, the “mamaya na” habit. I always did things at the brink of time.  And so it was in my 3rd year high school, we had a project making the basics of cross stitching.  Thinking that the deadline’s still hidden behind the pages of the calendar, I dillydallied.  Then all of a sudden, here comes the deadline! Cut the long story short, I made the project overnight and was not able to sleep just to finish the project and worse, my father would not allow me to go to school that morning because I had no sleep at all.
So that was it.  But God really is good because I was able to finish my project. I learned my lesson.  “Do what we have to do now before ‘now’ could be too late.”
Upon reminiscing, I remembered the day I was till about 5 when our Aunt scolded us for playing with her karaoke.  Feeling sad and ashamed about it as young as I was, I did not accompany her to church that Sunday as I used to.  My mother asked me why and she then told me that carrying a grudge within us is not good and that who’s affected is ourselves alone. I then apologized to my Aunt the next day. Truly what a great feeling knowing we have no hatred within us.  Always remember that sulking will cause no good but anxiety and paranoia. Looking back, I realized that though they may be simple, the above are very nice and foundational lessons for a youngster.
CHAPTER 6 These Ideas Have Liberated Me…
What I had noticed is the people’s misconception of the word “liberated”.  This word comes from the root word “liberate” which literally means “to set free”.  But people, especially teenagers usually associate this term with something we-know-what.
If we are going to take it figuratively, liberate means “to take us out from the dark cave of ignorance” for it’s through these ideas that we are able to see through the dark, see through our close-mindedness, see through our hard-headedness.
Let us take for example our “going to school”.  This is a means of liberating and preparing us to the world beyond.  The lessons in school are the ideas we need in order to be liberated, to be free from ignorance, innocence, and to, perhaps, help prevent us from sinning.
Our ideas from our values class about good and bad, our principles and formulas in Mathematics and Physics, our knowing about the what’s, why’s, how’s in Science and others are the ideas which sets us free from the grasp of naiveté.
CHAPTER 7 These Convictions I have Lived by…
I had always believed that no matter how big the waves that pushes us back ashore, we should not stop rowing our boat.
One should not get discouraged when things go beyond his/her expectations.  But let us remember instead that the greatest glory is net life’s never falling but rising every time we fall.
A smile, too, does help.  Welcoming a new day with a smile on our face, love in our hearts and fine thoughts in our minds will surely usher a great day ahead of us.  Smile also means happiness but it isn’t found when we seek it ourselves.  However, when we give it to others, it will definitely find its way back to whoever gave it.
God never promised us an easy journey in life.  He sometimes delays His help to test our faith and energize our prayers.  He is always with us though.  All we have to do is to hold His hand tightly and He will lead us safely.
So why not focus our minds on things that are beautiful?  Life’s too short to waste on worries.  Let us think of solutions instead, and not of problems.
Lastly, let us forever engrave in our minds and in our hearts that “Life is a gift from God. What we do with our lives is our gift and offering to Him.”
CHAPTER 8 These Beliefs I have Outgrown…
My friends, why is it that we should not cut our nails or comb our hair at night? Why should we not sweep our house at night? Why should we wear polka dots on New Year’s Day? Why should we step on ashes before entering the house from attending a burial? I still have quite a list of questions in my mind but I might not have enough space. These are just few of the beliefs our folks have passed from one generation to another. I respect our elders. But, with all due respect, for me, they are all but superstitious beliefs with no scientific basis or explanations. Furthermore,  as I took a closer look to each one of the above questions I came to ask myself, “Why do we allow our lives to be run by such beliefs?” We should not, for though the future is unknown, we have a Known and an All-Knowing God.
CHAPTER 9 These Insights Have Arrived Through the Course of My Life…
Through the years, I came to realize the truth that God is the Best Lover of all time and of course, the also the Best Disciplinarian of all. He loves us so much that He gave us freewill to do whatever we want to do be it good or bad. He is the best disciplinarian because He allows us to reap the consequences of our actions whether they are good or bad.
Indeed, the world is God’s manifestation of that love. It is a place where He expresses His Love for us and as well as the place where we can do the same. Moreover, man’s nature of being vulnerable to sin should not be a license to doing mistakes. Why not prevent it from happening instead? That way, we would not be able to sin and blame ourselves in the end. Yes, there are circumstances where we are caught in sin’s spell-binding web making things out of control. I had been praying than we always ask God to lead us to the right path.
What is love, by the way? Love is described in so many different ways by so many authors but don’t you know that the shortest definition of love is just found in the Bible? God is Love (1 John 4:8). He is the Greatest Lover of all time.
Another insight I want to share is about prayer. Is it not that it is through prayer that we are able to communicate with God? It is the one and only channel by which we can talk to Him. Prayer, when done sincerely and wholeheartedly, can be so powerful for through prayers, He hears more than we say, He answers more than we ask and gives more than we desire. All He needs is our time.
Last but definitely not the least insight I learned is the truth that Jesus Christ is our only Salvation. He died in the cross and shed His blood so that our sins may be forgiven. The best Rabbi of all time,  He’s the bridge that connects us to the Heavenly Father.
CHAPTER 10 These Influences Have Shaped My Life…
My parents had always been the main factor of the development of my well-being. They were the ones who nourished, nurtured and protected me. They were my first teachers and I will never forget the lessons they taught me. That is also why I love them so much that I did everything for them to be happy.
Second in line are my siblings who were my supporters, fans and advisers. They are my collaborators, my mentors and of course, my tormentors. :)
Next are my teachers who greatly added more to what I learned from home. They helped in broadening my knowledge and opening my eyes wide to see the real meaning of life and life beyond school and to live up to it.
In addition, all the people around me most especially my friends, also played a very huge role to my growth as a person and as to who I am now.
Being a wide-reader, books also influenced my life. I read different books with different genres. My number one book is my Bible for it is through it that my life slowly found its meaning. I also love my dictionary for it taught me lots of things I could not imagine. When I read, I always see to it that my dictionary is right beside me for whatever things that need clarifications especially words I hadn’t came across yet.
Truly, reading is a very wonderful habit and I suggest that you start doing it, too. The next time you do, you will be soaring to places you have never been, meeting people you have never met, and watching sceneries you have never seen. I can vouch for this!
CHAPTER 11 These Persons are Enshrined in My Life…
“No man is an island.” Exactly. Humans as we are, we are sociable beings always inclined to be in constant contact with other people. Well, who are these people from whom we learned about such? Yes, the people nearest us. As for me, they are my parents, siblings, friends, teachers and mentors.
But there is still someone who wants to have a relationship and fellowship with us. Jesus Christ. With Him as the center of our lives, everything will always be at bay. With our parents, we will be always assured with their love; with our family, we will always be secured with their protective embrace; with our friends, we will be assured that life is worth living with their caring smiles, with our teachers and mentors, we will always be lead to the right path.
Yes, believe me, get out of your shell and go out to the world that excitedly awaits you.
CHAPTER 12 The End…The Beginning…The Reality…
As a teenager, I still had plans to do, lots of things to accomplish, lots of things I wanted to have, etc. etc.
Yes, I did say that one should be content. Contentment is all about having Jesus Christ in our lives. His SHALOM in our loves. And Jesus also wants us to enjoy live and continue working and offer our everything to Him.
Dream big. Dream for your family, for the orphans, for the street children, for yourself. I had lots of dreams. Yes, I knew, my dreams are still too far beyond for me to reach. I still felt like I am inside my small boat constantly rowing, not knowing where to go with this vast ocean of life. Though I may not know where this life’s current leads me, though I am unaware where this wind will toss me, thought the fog of insufficiency blurs my vision with uncertainty, I believed I did continue on rowing for I knew that God was (for me) and will (for your all) always be here, guiding.
These are just few of the marvelous things, which you can explore upon voyaging through this vast sea we call life.
Bon voyage!
Adios, my friends,
Daylinda C. Barba

Cameron's filmography has generally had solid ratings with an exceptional outlier.
James Cameron is one of the most influential film directors of all time. He’s provided inspiration for everyone from Quentin Tarantino to Michael Bay. Cameron has helmed two of the highest grossing movies ever made, which were the first and second movies to cross the $2 billion barrier at the worldwide box office. His reception on Rotten Tomatoes has been wildly up and down with his highest-rated film having a 100%, while his lowest-rated film has a measly 6%. It’s interesting to see how the review site ranks his filmography. So, here are all of James Cameron’s Movies, Ranked By Rotten Tomatoes.
RELATED: The 10 Best James Cameron Action Scenes, Ranked
8 Piranha II: The Spawning (6%)
Tumblr media
James Cameron’s feature film directorial debut did not set his career up for the heights that it would eventually reach. It was the first sequel to Joe Dante’s original Piranha movie, a low-budget B-movie produced by low-budget B-movie king, Roger Corman. Cameron has said that, although he retains a full directing credit on the movie, he was fired two weeks into shooting and replaced by the film’s producer. Funnily enough, Cameron’s later innovations in the realm of 3D filmmaking would inspire a reboot of the Piranha franchise called Piranha 3D, which against all odds, earned itself a decent 73% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
7 True Lies (72%)
Tumblr media
Easily James Cameron’s silliest movie, True Lies is an action comedy starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as a secret agent who struggles to balance his spy antics with his family life. He’s essentially a cross between James Bond and Peter Parker. The action sequences are thrilling and Schwarzenegger is likable as always in the lead role, but the plot as a whole is too outlandish to be taken seriously. The film has aged terribly, too, with its bordering-on-misogynistic treatment of women where in one scene, Schwarzenegger uses government resources to stalk and terrorize his wife and stereotypical caricatures of Arab terrorists for villains.

6 Avatar (83%)
Tumblr media
A full decade after its release, Avatar was finally topped as the highest grossing movie of all time earlier this year by the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s epic climax, Avengers: Endgame. Avatar had a pretty impressive reign. For a while, it seemed as though it would retain the title and Endgame would fall just short of toppling it.  The reason why James Cameron hasn’t directed another movie since is that he’s been working on four Avatar sequels back-to-back. The first one was in development for years while Cameron waited for filmmaking technology to catch up with his vision, and although it’s been criticized for its rehashed plot and overlong runtime, it’s a phenomenal cinematic achievement.
5 Titanic (88%)
Tumblr media
Although James Cameron has claimed that he only made Titanic so that 20th Century Fox would pay for him to dive down into the eponymous ship’s wreckage under the sea, he made it a cinematic epic in the truest sense with a heartfelt,  if generic and predictable, love story.
Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet make a pair of compelling leads, and while Billy Zane’s villain is too cartoonish to be menacing or engaging, the supporting cast as a whole does a great job. The second half of the film where the ship sinks is a breathtaking filmmaking achievement.
RELATED: Titanic: The 10 Most Heartbreaking Moments, Ranked
4 The Abyss (89%)
Tumblr media
It might be one of James Cameron’s lesser-known movies, but The Abyss is also one of his best. It’s not perfect. Some of Cameron’s other movies, like Aliens and the first two Terminator movies, outshine it like their Rotten Tomatoes scores will suggest. However, it’s still an underrated gem about a different kind of alien than any other we’ve seen in a sci-fi blockbuster. These aliens travel through the ocean, and they prey on the unsuspecting crew of a sunken American submarine. The three-hour director’s cut is even better than the theatrical cut (which the studio forced Cameron to cut down right before Dances with Wolves’ success trampled on industry expectations of running times).
3 Terminator 2: Judgment Day (93%)
Tumblr media
An example of a sequel done right, Terminator 2: Judgment Day suitably upped the stakes from the first one to deliver a movie that was bigger, louder, more action-packed, and yet just as densely plotted and rich with character development. An institutionalized Sarah Connor is broken out by the same Terminator model that was programmed to kill her in the first one, and he’s been assigned to protect her and her now-tween son John from an even more powerful Terminator. The sequel shifts into a thrilling third act when Sarah goes after the family man who invented Skynet in a futile effort to prevent Judgment Day altogether.
RELATED: Ranked: The 10 Scariest Moments In James Cameron's Aliens
2 Aliens (98%)
Tumblr media
It’s so rare that a different director will take the reins from a fellow director to helm the sequel to their masterpiece and end up making the sequel a masterpiece in its own right, but that’s what James Cameron did when he took the Alien franchise from Ridley Scott for its sophomore outing.
Whereas the first film is a masterclass in blending sci-fi and horror, the second one is a masterclass is blending sci-fi and horror with action. Cameron gave the second Alien movie just as much suspense, tension, scares, twists, character development, and complex plotting as the first one, but he did so with even more high-octane action.
1 The Terminator (100%)
Tumblr media
The first Terminator movie was the only one that used Arnold Schwarzenegger’s T-800 as a bad guy and it wasn’t particularly action-packed, so its strength as a standalone feature is often forgotten. However, having just one Terminator facing off against human characters made the stakes higher and the conflict more relatable. The first film is the deceptively simplistic story of a man who is sent back in time by his commanding officer John Connor to protect his mother from a killer cyborg who has also been sent back in time to assassinate her and prevent John’s birth. The worst Terminator movies are the ones that have two Terminators fighting while the humans just run and hide. Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese didn’t have that luxury; their fate was in their own hands.

10 Greatest Films of Leonardo DiCaprio
Leonardo DiCaprio was born in Hollywood, in 1974.  He started his career as a child with parts on television series such as Parenthood and Growing Pains.  His first film role was in the not so auspicious Critters 3.  Things suddenly became a lot more promising when he was cast opposite Robert De Niro in This Boy's Life.  He continued to work steadily in films, but his life changed forever in 1997, with James Cameron's Titanic, which until 2010 was the highest grossing film of all time.  From this point, DiCaprio became a lot more selective about his roles.  He has worked with the top directors in the industry, including making five films with Martin Scorsese.
10.  Django Unchained (2012) - Leo's first time playing a villain, and he plays a nasty one.  A really nasty one.  One that gets to speak Quentin Tarantino dialogue.
"Django, and his friend in gray here, Dr. Schultz, are customers. And they are our guests, Stephen. And you, you old, decrepit bastard, you are to show them every hospitality. You understand that?" - Calvin Candie
9.  Gangs of New York (2002) - It's a statement of the quality of DiCaprio's performance in this film that it can even stand out in the shadow of Daniel Day Lewis's mad Bill the Butcher.
"When you kill a king, you don't stab him in the dark. You kill him where the entire court can watch him die." - Amsterdam Vallon
8.  The Departed (2006) - Martin Scorsese directed this film about two young men that are the same but opposites.  Damon plays a gangster embedded in the police force and Leonardo DiCaprio plays a cop embedded in the mob.
"You sit there with a mass murderer. A mass murderer. Your heart rate is jacked, and your hand... steady. That's one thing I figured out about myself in prison. My hand does not shake... ever." - Billy Costigan
7. What’s Eating Gilbert Grape (1993) - Watch this movie and the performances of Leo and Johnny Depp are so good, that you'll likely not notice the movie itself isn't that great.  They both outshine the material.  This may be Leo's best acting performance.
"I'm having a birthday party, but you're not invited, but you can come if you want." - Arnie Grape
6.  This Boy’s Life (1993) - If you can go toe to toe with Robert De Niro and come out looking good, you're a good actor.  The movie is the story of a boy and his mother (Ellen Barkin) and their experiences living with a domineering bully (De Niro).
"You can dream of a moment for years and still somehow miss it when it comes. You've got to reach through the flames and take it, or lose it forever. I took it. So did my mother. We never looked back." - Toby
5.  Inception (2010) - Leo is rather restrained in this one, but it works well as he serves as the grounding point while the surreal story and visuals swirl around him.
"Dreams feel real while we're in them. It's only when we wake up that we realize something was actually strange." - Cobb
4. The Aviator (2004) - Martin Scorsese's epic examination of the eccentric millionaire Howard Hughes stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Hughes and Cate Blanchett as Katharine Hepburn.  It takes chutzpah to play one of the best known and greatest actresses of cinema, in a film.  Blanchett does it beautifully.  For this role, she won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar.  Leo did not win an Oscar, but his performance is certainly worthy.  He portrays Hughes across a broad spectrum of life - from focused and ambitious youth into older madness.
"You have called me a liar and a thief and a war profiteer." - Howard Hughes
3.  Titanic (1997) - Everyone in the world has seen Titanic, so I hardly need to introduce it.  It's a pretty simple love story, but set on such a grand scale by director James Cameron that it impacted a generation.  As Liam Neeson's character says in Love Actually: "We need Kate, and we need Leo.  And we need them now."
"That's what everybody says but, with all due respect, Miss, I'm not the one hanging off the back of a ship here. Come on. C'mon, give me your hand. You don't want to do this." - Jack
2.Shutter Island - Teddy Daniels and Chuck Aule, two US marshals, are sent to an asylum on a remote island in order to investigate the disappearance of a patient, but Teddy uncovers a shocking truth about the place . One of the best thriller movie .
1.  Catch Me If You Can (2002) - Spielberg, Hanks, and DiCaprio.  Leo plays real-life conman Frank Abagnale Jr.  In the 1960s, Abagnale pretended to be a pilot, a doctor, and a lawyer.  He moved from place to place, preying on the natural respect people have for people in those three professions, cashing fraudulent checks and living the high life.  Leo is very convincing as the conman and charming enough to con the audience into rooting for his character.
"Yeah, but there's no crease in the paper. When your mom hands you a note to miss school, the first thing you do is, you fold it and you put it in your pocket. I mean, if it's real, where's the crease?" - Frank Abagnale Jr.
Romeo + Juliet, Marvin’s Room, The Great Gatsby,The Wolf of Wall Street, The Quick and the Dead, J. Edgar, and Blood Diamond were also considered for this list.  What would make your list?
