I know Carmela crying at the painting of baby Jesus was supposed to be about her marriage to Tony and how she craves innocence and infantilizes him to escape what he really is but... the first time I saw that scene I was absolutely fucking gutted by how empty and isolating her life is and how the last time it felt full was probably when AJ was a baby, and how she's wondering now if it will ever feel full again

i feel like there's so much to dig into with what melfi says to tony here, that he's too selfish to divorce carmela, but i can't put it into words right now. definitely one of the show's iconic therapy scenes i think
