headcanons:

dodger has always had a special love for movies. growing up as the daughter of the famous director george atchley, it was impossible not to have an appreciation for film. she grew up on movie sets and took an interest in the industry early on. her dad encouraged her from day one, even buying her her first film camera when she was thirteen.

she has been making short films with her friends for years. writing up quick scripts and shooting them around the neighborhood. she’d set up a projector and screen the final product in her yard for the neighborhood to come and enjoy.

people expected great things from her, they expected film festivals, academy awards, products that were worthy of being attached to the atchley name. she was proud of her dad and all of his accomplishments, but she wanted to have fun.

as she got older, dodger found her true calling: horror movies. she was obsessed instantly and dove head first into the genre. she learned all the techniques, all the special effects, and spent hours upon hours writing horror scripts.

people were surprised, especially her dad’s colleagues, but the man himself couldn’t have been more proud. dodger found a way to express herself and make her art her own.

she’s painfully aware that it’s a male dominated industry, but refuses to be dissuaded. she has stories to tell and she will not allow anyone to silence her based on her gender.

absolutely hates being told she can’t do something. she’s stubborn and headstrong and will not back down from confrontation.

works at a movie theater during the school year and has since high school. uses it as a way to collect movie posters and watch movies for free. lives on a diet of red vines, popcorn, and pepsi. has a carboard cut out of e.t. that she absolutely has in the cabin window.

started working at reverie last summer and loved everything about it so couldn’t wait to come back this year.

aesthetic:

ripped jeans drawn on in pen, coloring vans, the sound of a camcorder recording, the static of a television set, the taste of fake blood, being inspired at 3am, filled notebooks, the smell of buttered popcorn, the feeling of walking home alone at night, chipped nail polish, poster covered walls, baggy sweaters around a campfire, rolled eyes, middle fingers and laughter.

potential connections:

the star - this is dodger’s final girl. the best friend. the one she always goes to with a new idea and always has “the perfect part” for her. dodger sees her as a hero and therefore always puts her in the hero role in her films.

the crew - these are friends who have similar interests who dodger can call when she wants to make something. they like having a good time and are always game for her ideas/always bring their own ideas to improve her movies. they’re her ride or die gang.

the rival - someone she competes with. they butt heads on everything. just cannot get along for whatever reason and should not be forced to be around each other for a whole summer. - could also be an ex and things didn’t go well so now they make each other miserable.

the love interest - she’s infatuated and obsessed. like any young girl with a crush. lots of blushing and stuttering, longing looks and heavy sighs. she met them last summer and hasn’t stopped thinking about them since, but has no idea how to say this out loud.

honestly anything and everything, i am down. these are just some ideas.
