You cannot convince me that Alex 'watch out for my razor blade' Cavill would be so passive after her requests to see her mother were denied. Sure, she may not know Snowpiercer as well as Big Alice, but she knows it a heck of a lot better than those Silo grunts, including Nima. She was left alone for hours to go over the research. You cannot convince me that she wouldn't have found a way to scour that train for her mom, and, upon realizing she's either being held captive or taken elsewhere slammed the fucking brakes. This season is so infuriating.

that’s exactly my point. and as some have been pointing out in the past few weeks it seems to be a problem that applies to multiple characters: they’re all acting extremely ooc because it’s the only thing that’s keeping the plot going.

layton is putting everyone at risk by running after his daughter, and yeah i get it, it’s his daughter, so of course he’s not gonna be lucid about it, but that’s some heavy character regression, he wasn’t this reckless even in season one, and he wasn’t the leader or anything relevant at that point, but now after three seasons of his preaching about justice and democracy he just goes and tries to steal big alice like that? all because they couldn’t come up with another storyline for him that made the smallest bit of sense?

then there’s the new eden people that so selflessly enabled him to go on a suicide mission without even questioning for a second that it might not be the smartest thing risking losing an engine to an enemy that had proven himself as very very dangerous at that point.

and then there’s ruth connecting big alice after she’d fiercely rejected the plan just the previous episode, but hey, how’re we gonna get everyone reunited and show off the new location if she doesn’t contradict herself like that?

and finally we have melanie, that although has the slimmest amount of screentime of them all is probably one of those suffering most from this cheap writing because at this point they’re just desperate and can’t kill her off again to keep her off-screen so they’re switching to butchering her identity instead. melanie cavill would never give up snowpiercer like that, not checking in on her engine every time it stopped at the silo and she wouldn’t just lose touch with ben for god knows how many months, but again, if she hadn’t been this ooc this season wouldn’t have had a plot to begin with.

+ it’s worth noting that it’s kind of surreal how wilford knew about nima freezing the world but melanie didn’t, because you know, they’re all scientists and know each other so i don’t see how he’d have that information but she wouldn’t. you’d think the creator of the ark that saved humanity would know what and who she was saving it from. but obviously had she known nima couldn’t have blindsided her and taken her out of the picture for yet another episode.

if i remember correctly the show changed showrunner for season 4 (it wasn’t the first time over the course of the show) but i must say this season you can really see the disconnect. it’s like he didn’t even bother to watch the previous seasons.

i guess they really were onto something when they decided not to air this shitshow of a season.
