My Review of Hokkaido Girls Are Super Adorable

Just a random pick. Roll it!

Tsubasa Shiki has just moved from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo to the northernest and chilliest part of Japan, Hokkaido…well, Kitami City if you want to get technical. His first day there, he meets a young girl waiting at a bus stop and was just amazed at her. Minami Fuyuki has blonde hair, flashy nails, makeup, and has the leg strength to withstand frigid cold temperatures without the need of knee-high socks. They seem to hit it off. As Tsubasa is new to this area, Minami seems to have her priorities all settled in terms of everyday life. So, she has no problem helping out the new guy.

And that’s essentially it for the story! There are Hokkaido girls Tsubasa hangs out with. He hangs out with the extrovert Fuyuki, the gamer Sayuri and the odd-ball senpai Rena.

BETWEEN THE SUB AND THE DUB: I guess I must have slept on the dub for the last couple of months because up until doing the finishing touches on the review, I didn’t know of its existence. Like nearly every other anime that is coming out nowadays it was licensed and dubbed by Crunchyroll. The sub has a lot of recognizable names and all do a great job. Here’s what you might recognize these folks from.

JAPANESE CAST: *Tsubasa is played by Nobunaga Shimazaki (known for Yuki on Fruits Basket 2019, Haru on Free!, Eugeo on SAO: Alicization, Sunakawa on Ore Monogatari, Shinichi on Parasyte, Yuno on Black Clover, and Izana on Tokyo Revengers)

*Rena is played by Jill Harris (known for Noelle on Black Clover, Fern on Frieren, Aura on Overlord, Hiiragi on Natsume’s Book of Friends, and Shizuku on Love Live Nijigasaki)

SHIPPING: Hmm…three Hokkaido girls. All of them are attracted to this kid (kinda not really in a love way). Tsubasa’s a shy boy and new to the concept of…well, everything involving the opposite sex. I think I’ve seen this set up before. The only difference here is that Tsubasa has a very strict grandmother that’ll stop any of these clumsy girls falling on him. But you have to admit that Minami, Sayuri, and Rena are at play here. Rena is actually on good terms with Tsubasa’s grandmother and loves all the traditional things Tsubasa is accustomed to. Sayuri and Tsubasa had a lot of great moments together whether gaming or just opening up. And as for Minami, well, she’s first girl.

Honestly, I think that Tsubasa will get with one of these three before Kazuya gets with Chizuru on Rent-A-Girlfriend at this point.

BURRRRRRN!

And my take on the matter, I kinda became a Minami x Tsubasa shipper when Tsubasa played the piano for Minami.

RANDOM NOTE: I can’t be the only person who thinks this.

Agree or disagree? The opening theme sounds a little too similar to Uptown Funk.

In episode 11, you can see the singer of the opening theme playing the song. This experience felt like watching the Love Rollercoaster scene from Beavis and Butt-head Do America. If you know, you know.

ENDING: Kind of a weird time for this to happen, but Tsubasa is now entering his second year of high school. Yeah, we don’t see that until the end of or beginning of a season. Whatever! We are in the spring season, but you wouldn’t know that since Hokkaido is much like the town of South Park. Snow is going to be on the ground regardless of what your calender says. There’s a lot of talk and thinking about the growth of these characters over the past few months. Since Tsubasa transferred, a lot of these characters have changed. Sayuri was able to kinda come out of her shell and do things with classmates she normally wouldn’t do. Rena was able to see the impact of what she does. And Matsuo…

Wait, who’s Matsuo again?

I guess this random guy, Matsuo is part of the crew now. I noticed it subtly when he was featured with the rest of the main cast at the end of the opening theme. I didn’t even realize that he was the guy that made that comment about not getting homemade chocolates from Minami during the Valentine’s episode. Whatever!

One little comment from Tsubasa about wishing to see cherry blossoms in Hokkaido prompted Minami to set up a surprise trip for him several hours from where they live. She wanted to have Tsubasa go out with her for one day and because she has something important to say. A myriad of possibilities pop up in our brains when Minami wants to discuss with Tsubasa. When it comes to this girl, it can be anything. While she is a flirt, we are approaching the season finale and this could be something serious. For now, let’s enjoy these two enjoying the spring weather, good food, music, and all that fun stuff. So, of course Minami is going to drop a bombshell at the end of this particular episode. And give Tsubasa some credit as he thought that Minami was going to reveal personal feelings for him. I’m glad his character isn’t that freakin’ oblivious. Actually, Minami is leaving as she’s going to study abroad. Tsubasa hugs her and next thing you know, they’re both in a hotel room together.

Yeah, they both missed the bus from their current location and Tsubasa’s father (whom we haven’t seen up until these last two episodes) hooks his son up. Being alone in a hotel room with a pretty girl gave Tsubasa quite the vivid images in his mind. Fortunately, nothing came of that as he fell asleep while she was taking a shower and then she left immediately after.

In that aftermath, Tsubasa was quiet and kept himself inside, not even talking to Rena or Sayuri. Well, this is the day that Minami was going to leave. Minami reveals to Sayuri that it was because of people like her, Tsubasa, and Rena that she came to this decision about her future. Tsubasa eventually gets off his ass to go to the airport in one last romantic gesture you’ve seen in God-knows how many romcoms.

And as we all know, Tsubasa would never have the clearance to make it to the boarding area if this is any program after September 11th, 2001. But logic be damned as he came in to see Minami off and give her a hairpin that was left behind. And then she drops a big ol’ bombshell of a facepalm. Minami will only be gone for 2 weeks. The time passed by like that and we’re back to the status quo. The end!

I honestly didn’t know what to expect watching this week-by-week. What I was given was not bad. Yes, there’s going to be some fan-service when you have a character like Minami. Hell, there was an episode where she was talking to Tsubasa on the phone while naked in the bathtub. Girl’s a freak! I guess what I got from this is that we all need a close-knit group of friends that’ll be there to encourage you.

And that Hokkaido girls are super adorable!

Hence the title of the anime.

Shimoneta: A Boring World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn't Exist

First off cock and balls, but seriously this show is set in a future japan where dirty jokes are illegal. You follow the main characters while they try to educate the masses on sex all while running from the decency squad. Solid show, great jokes, decent amount of cringe. I give Shimoneta a 7/10

My Review of Taisho Maiden Fairytale

How did I get into this anime? Honestly, I think that this was the only romantic comedy that was going to air during the fall anime line-up. And I mean REAL romance and not the office romance of My Senpai is Annoying. So here we go!

Tamahiko Shima is a young man living alone in the countryside. He was banished by his own family after a terrible accident took the family by shock. That accident? Tamahiko and his mother were in a car accident. She dies and Tamahiko permanently injures his dominant hand and is forever seen as useless. So Tamahiko has given up. He will forever live in isolation in the countryside, waiting for death’s sweet embrace.

And then Yuzuki Tachibana enters the room! Originally a student of an all-girl school, she is to be Tamahiko’s bride. In order to keep her family in stable condition (money wise), she was to become a bride to her lender’s son. Yuzuki (or Yuzu) arrives into Tamahiko’s life and turns his once pessimistic point of view into something positive. Tamahiko, who once wished to die after losing everything, finds himself enjoying life with his bought and paid for waifu. Lack of a better term! Even though she is bought and paid for waifu, she’s a perfect waifu!

BETWEEN THE SUB AND THE DUB: This is a FUNimation exclusive. I was straight-up gob-smacked when I found out that Tamahiko was not voiced by Takahiro Sakurai and Yuzu was not voiced by Manaka Iwami. Damn y’all, got me good! In fact, this was my first time hearing Yuzu’s voice actor. Good job, high praise! I’m assuming FUNimation will one day give this anime a dub, they’ve just been busy with other projects and haven’t really given this anime much attention. As of this date of posting, there has been no word on a dub. Here’s what you might recognize these folks from.

*Tamahiko is played by Yuusuke Kobayashi (known for Subaru on Re:Zero, Zel on Interspecies Reviewers, Arthur on Fire Force, Common Cell on Cells at Work, Tanukichi on Shimoneta, and Marui on Food Wars)

*Yuzu is played by Saya Aizawa

DISLIKED CHARACTER: You know, I was ready to throw Tamahiko’s entire family in the trashcan. I might in due time, but I’d like to focus on bastard father of the year. From episode one, there’s so much disdain for this one character. Time and period aside, you do not cast your son aside because his right arm is permanently paralyzed. You just don’t do that! And we’re not just talking about kicking a child out, we’re talking about putting him in an isolated place and then tell people he died. Worst of all, he got his other children to go along with this disgusting lie and put on an act when it comes to marriage deals and such.

Now the reason why I’m focusing more on the father is because of cases like Tamahiko’s sister Tamako. She’s a classic case of what happens when you have parents that cut coddling off at an early age. If something minor happens, her father would just throw money at someone to make it go away. Even though Tamako acts grown up, she’s still a fucking child! I can’t account for the matriarch of the family and her attitude towards her children because she’s dead. But it’s clear from Tamako and Tamahiko’s flashbacks that daddy dearest is indeed to blame.

SHIPPING: Gotta love that bastard family of Tamahiko by throwing a bride at him and being jerk-ass about it. But Yuzu is so wholesome, she reminds me so much of Tohru Honda from Fruits Basket. This ship is the cutest! Yuzu is just what Tamahiko needs in his pessimistic life. She brought life back into him and encouraged him to do so many things throughout the series. Instead of rotting away in the home, he’s going out, making friends, teaching children, and going to school. All thanks to Yuzu’s encouragement. And no matter what, she’s devoted to making him happy and loves him unconditionally.

We do get cute moments between these two love birds. Even though they are engaged to be married, they’re obviously new to the love game. Despite the era this anime takes place, they’re still teenagers. Holding hands, kissing, or even saying how much they love each other are new experiences for them. They don’t know how to handle their emotions and no way in hell the parents are going to teach them.

Now I did get worried once they added Ryou. Ryou did a lot of flirting with Tamahiko once it was established that she wasn’t that bad of a human being. But she did cause a big rift between the two love birds after she made up a lie as to how she got Tamahiko’s birthday gift (a bookmark). But thankfully, not even that could have torn these kids away from each other.

ENDING: Yuzu gets a letter from her old school chum. Despite being sent far away, Yuzu still kept in contact with her girlfriend Midori (who is now about to be married and currently pregnant). I’m going to shut up about the fact that these girls are practically teenagers and having to go through this. I just gotta keep telling myself that it was a different time even though this is so wrong. ANYWAYS! Yuzu decides to go away for a week to visit her. These young lovers are to be away from each other for that amount of time. What will Tamahiko do? He’ll survive, he’s a big boy, he’ll be okay! Well, the week passed by rather quickly and…

An earthquake hit!

Wow, and they were specific about the date and time this hit and it even has its own name. Let me look up this, “Great Kanto Earthquake” and see if…

OH DEAR GOD NO!

So on September 1st, 1923, the Kanto region of Japan was struck with a 7.9 earthquake. Many different accounts said the big tremor lasted anywhere between 4 minutes and 10 minutes. Many of the aftershocks were above 6.0. The earthquake caused a fire-storm, a tsunami, and civil unrest between the Japanese and Koreans. The death toll reached up to 100,000 and more.

So Yuzu might be dead. We don’t know. Certainly not Tamahiko! I know Tamahiko is supposed to be the pessimistic one here, but I am very pessimistic about all of this! Look, when I asked for more action for this cutesy rom-com, I didn’t mean a deadly earthquake that killed hundreds of thousands of people. I didn’t know that Yuzu being surrounded by fire in the opening theme was foreshadowing! Don’t kill off Tohru Honda’s possible ancestor!

Tamahiko and Ryou decide to make the long trek from Chiba to Tokyo. Ryou was worried since her little brother was working in Tokyo. Once there, they saw the carnage up close. Luckily, Tamahiko had a nice support team while in town. Ryou helped him look for Yuzu. Tamahiko’s uncle and sister (Tamako) were transferred to this location to help with the ailing. Plus, his friends Hakaru and Kotori were in town helping people as well as him.

Tamahiko thought about this very carefully. After his accident that killed his mother and took the use of his right arm, Tamahiko became extremely pessimistic and was at the point in his life where he didn’t care if he lived or died. It wasn’t until Yuzu came along that things changed for the better. He now gets along with his younger sister and reconnected with his uncle. He’s going to school and has friends. The neighborhood kids trust him. All of this was because Yuzu was there to support him in everything he did and everything he wanted to do. So he’s not going to lose her to this tragedy.

The search for Yuzu had its ups and downs. Fortunately, Tamahiko and Tamako ran into Midori who was thankfully safe and so was her unborn baby. However, she’s unsure of where Yuzu is because during one of the fire storms, Midori and Yuzu were separated. But Tamahiko gets lucky running into two hungry children who say they have an older girl that cared for them but was really injured. It was Yuzu! Tamahiko swoops in and carries her to safety. In Yuzu’s unconscious state, we see a lot of her past including the time Tamahiko’s father purchased Yuzu to become his son’s wife.

Thankfully, Yuzu pulled through and the first thing she sees as she wakes up is Tamahiko. She was so happy to see him alive that she pulled him in and gave him a big smooch. So we get a happy moment among Yuzu, Tamahiko, and friends. Everyone in this group is reunited and expected to make a full recovery. And then Tamahiko’s bastard father enters. Because Tamahiko’s uncle (a renowned doctor) was transferred to Tokyo to help with the injured and dying, bastard father tracked him down for an emergency request. Tamahiko’s youngest brother got severely injured in the earthquake and needs medical attention.

Uncle tells his brother to fuck off, I’m helping people here and you’re not going to bully me away from my post and giving him the name of another doctor who could help. Whether or not bastard father decides to take that offer, the anime doesn’t tell. And while they’re in the same area together, Tamahiko ends up saying he’s glad that his father and the family are safe. Bastard father still treats him like he’s dead. Let’s hope we never see him or his other unpleasant children again.

A month after the tragedy, Tamahiko and Yuzu were able to make it back home to Chiba and kinda pick up the pieces around them. Their house managed to stay sturdy during the quake and aftershocks and Chiba wasn’t as wrecked as other places like Tokyo. So this would be a perfect time to celebrate Tamahiko’s birthday. Unfortunately, Tamahiko wasn’t able to celebrate his birthday because Yuzu was away in Tokyo and that date was the big quake. During the celebration, Tamahiko thanked his big support-net of friends and loved ones for everything. And we end with a kiss of Tamahiko and Yuzu.

Okay, I love happy endings and everything, but I can’t really buy the fact that everyone in Tamahiko’s inner circle (and then some) were safe from that earthquake. Did you get a load of that kill-count? This earthquake took out a lot, even in surrounding areas of Tokyo and outer-lands. There were fire storms! FIRE! STORMS! Tamahiko is one lucky son-of-a-gun to have all his friends, family members, and relations come out of this tragedy alive. But aside from my thoughts on that matter…

So cute! This anime was just too cute for words. I was so happy in the first episode watching this that Tamahiko didn’t turn out to be a jerk considering his up-bringing. I want more from this story. I want to see Tamahiko and Yuzu get married. I know they gave me imaginations from Ryou and Tamako imagining Yuzu in a wedding dress, but I want the real thing. Now is it possible we could get another season?

If this series was popular enough, then I sure hope so. I believe there is enough material between the time the anime ends and where the manga ends. However, this might be a case where they want to keep this anime pure with the Tamahiko x Yuzu aspect. Apparently, things get hot and heavy in the manga. I personally would love to see more of this series, even if it involves having to see Tamahiko’s bastard father again. But what do you think? Is this a cute, overlooked series? I say give it a watch!

And, you know what? I know that someone could look at that last reblog and go ‘but, hey... don’t you hate ecchi shit?’

At this point in my life, I can say that I don’t hate all ecchi anime I just hate the ones that are lazy about it. There’s a difference between something like Monster Musume, Interspecies Reviewers, and Shimoneta... And then shit like Eiken and I Want You To Show Me Your Panties While Making a Disgusted Face.

And I’m not going to say I wouldn’t enjoy seeing some more risque anime centering around guys that isn’t yaoi.

The notion of raunchy, sexual content isn’t bad, it’s just when a market gets oversaturated with examples that don’t do anything aside from ‘cute girls get involved in weird, wacky hijinks’ is when I’ll look at an anime catalog and go ‘Well, fuck me; see you all in eight months when something good gets put on the table’.

First week of the summer season is over and I’ve liked all but one of the shows I’ve tried; the show in question being Monster Musume no Oisha-san, which I tried mostly for its adjacency to Ishuzoku Reviewers. Unfortunately the initial impression is that its a far more by-the-numbers ecchi. The monster girl design is great, but when basically every gag is just the main girl being jealous there isn’t much else to enjoy. It’ll have to improve quickly to not get dropped.

The rest of the season’s (admittedly slim) offerings have been great, though. No Guns Life is as good as ever, of course. The first of the two best new offerings is The God of High School which I would immediately recommend to anyone who enjoyed Blood Blockade Battlefront; TGOHS is an action anime that is about the action and it knows it. It also has what may be the most immediately endearing male protagonist I’ve ever seen in an anime. He is just... so incredibly stupid. I love him

The other obvious best-in-season contender is Deca-dence. The show caught my eye with its trailer that is essentially just a list of all the incredibly talented and successful people working on the show, and so far it has absolutely lived up to its own hype. Whoever you are, whatever you like, watch it, it’s good.

I’m also watching Lapis Re:Lights, which frankly I didn’t expect much from. I mostly got what I expected, a decent cute girls/cute things anime. It did surprise me with some shockingly in depth world building; the magic system has some real thought put into it, and whatever the show as a whole ends up rating as I think it deserves some praise for that. Also it’s pretty gay, that is important to me

Lastly... Dokyuu Hentai HxEros. I read some of the manga out of confused curiosity on the premise, so I can say with some certainty... Yeah it’s pretty good. If y’all remember Shimoneta it’s got a similar tone; it knows how silly it is and leans into it quite happily, and is ultimately just a fun story about it being okay to be horny. The first episode of the anime seems to be carrying that tone well and making some good adaptation decisions, so I’m looking forward to seeing more. Definitely a better horny offering than Monster Doctor.

There are a lot of shonen sequels this season for shows that are bad and I do not like and I will not watch them. I will not elaborate further

starting off with Tengen Toppa Gunen Lagann and lucky star

Hey. Kai here to give some quickie reviews.

When I saw this request, I couldn’t help but think: “God. I hope it’s not that weird girl.” Unfortunately, google wasn’t an MVP this time around.

Anyways, about Anna. This is one of those circumstances of “up to the view’s perception.” Anna is all about the line between love and lust. Personally speaking, she sounds like a thirsty bitch. Because of that, she isn’t a yandere. We said it time and time again, a yandere needs to be in love with the S/O to even be debated as a “yandere”. There is a huge difference between love and lust. They don’t mean the same thing. So if someone out there legit thinks that Anna loves the MC, then maybe she’s a yandere. The wiki isn’t really that detailed. But even still, she seems like the... ahem... the cringier types of yanderes... you know, the ones that appeal to the waifu lovers out there. Thankfully, I’m not a part of waifu culture (husbando on the other hand...) These anime tiddies hold no power over me.

But even if she was a yandere, she seems to be a rather weak one since she’s all about sex. I’m surprised that this shit isn’t a hentai. The line between regular anime and hentai is getting smaller and smaller each year, huh? Anyways, she’s either a 0 or a 3 depending on your opinion.

FUNimation drops newly-added anime, Interspecies Reviewers?

This smells scandalous, I must watch!”

It’s very, very, VERY rare that an anime licensor drops an anime that’s currently airing in Japan and doing it weeks after announcing a full release (no pun intended), plus a friggin’ English dub. And where there’s controversy, I will be there to sniff it out…eventually. I think I can squeeze one more anime to watch on a week-by-week basis. Hell, I shoved Domestic Girlfriend in at last minute in 2019 right in the middle of moving to a different state. I think I can handle a little anime like this. What could possibly go wr…?!

*one week later*

Oh fluffies! This escalated quickly!

So…Interspecies Reviewers is about a human name Stunk and an elf named Zel. They go around to brothels, spend some time with the ladies of the evening known as Succu-girls (because these girls suck you), and review their “encounter” with them for a tavern full of curious males. Stunk and Zel want to go around and conquer as many species, discovering all new kinks and fetishes, fondle all kinds of jiggly-bits and naughty bits from cow-girls, cat-girls, skeleton girls, succubis, fire salamanders girls, elves, fairies, slimes, demons, bird-maidens, cyclops, and oh-so many others. This is a vast world and there’s only so many brothels these men can tackle at a time.

Oh yeah, there’s also an angel named Crim. Stunk and Zel saved Crim, but Crim can’t go back to Heaven since his halo is busted. Although now, I doubt if he’ll ever get entry back into Heaven after being defiled by a cat-woman. I mean who among us haven’t lost our virginity to a cat-eared girl on a whim?

*ahem*

So there you have it! A human, an elf, and an angel walk into a brothel and…that’s the anime!

BETWEEN THE SUB AND THE DUUUUUU…..UH-OH: The sub was fine and I’m gonna leave it there with the subtitle version. As for the dub…What dub? There’s no dub! Dubs are just a myth here! Like I said before, FUNimation DID have this series. Emphasis on “DID”! They released the first 3 episodes in their normal week-by-week fashion, no worries there. They promised an English dub and released one episode dubbed, sounds about right! But then one night, they just drop this series!

Funimation on Jan. 31: After careful consideration, we determined that this series falls outside of our standards. We have the utmost respect for our creators so rather than substantially alter the content, we felt taking it down was the most respectful choice.

*sighs*

BOI!

Did you, FUNimation? Or was it Sony pulling the strings? But I’m getting ahead of myself here. A wide variety of things could have sprung this on! One reason could be that the voice actors felt uncomfortable with the material. I know some voice actors from FUNimation are a little skeptical here and if they voice something that’s borderline Hentai or IS HENTAI, they’ll use an alias name so that no one would be the wiser. I know it’s a job and money’s on the table here, but people are people. They have morals and boundaries! Not everyone can have the bravery to voice act in a Hentai like Dan Green (he totally did, you should look it up).

Another theory, Sony and/or FUNimation were being cautious and don’t want to air something so extreme in the naughty department. But if that were the case, how do you account for your full releases of High School DxD, Panty & Stocking, Conception, Keijo!!!!!!!!, Shimoneta, My Girlfriend is a Gal, and A Sister is All You Need? Then again, these animes were made and released prior to Sony buying FUNimation. But as of recent, FUNimation is streaming works from Aniplex of America that are kinda questionable. Where I’m going with this is that weeks after dropping Interspecies Reviewers, they add shows like Nisemonogatari AND Eromanga Sensei to their site. Ahem! Guys, where were those “STANDARDS” you were talking about earlier? Eromanga Sensei is downright illegal! Then again, none of these titles really reached full-blown bestiality like this series does! I mean, Sentai Filmworks happily released Monster Musume and that was borderline bestiality. But whatever, you guys do you!

Then again, no series has gone the distance by having several sex scenes per episode with the uncensored version going beyond the boundary quite like this.

Yeah…in this “woke AF” time we’re living in, if an anime doesn’t have an advisory stated at the beginning of an episode with lewd or controversial scenes, people lose their shit. Hence, Goblin Slayer’s debut and that one Sword Art Online episode! Whatever the case, now that FUNimation dropped this series, I don’t expect it to get picked up by any other licensor and it’ll probably remain in license limbo forever. There were a few voice actors set up to be in this anime including Monica Rial, Brittney Karbowski, and Amber Lee Connors. Only one episode was dubbed and good luck finding it now! But after this, I doubt these folks would ever finish what they started. And that’s a shame, because FUNimation voice actors have a knack for turning an anime dirty. Especially if you hire Monica Rial or Jamie Marchi (or both)!

I know every season, there’s a fight between American licensors in what animes they’re going to grab and show to their subscribers. FUNimation really could have taken a few extra minutes to do a little research on this one before jumping in a pool where the water is replaced by naked half-species chicks. For fuck’s sake, there’s a manga to this! Although, I’ve heard that the manga doesn’t even go this far! So this is disproving my rant! Let me just finish by saying that FUNimation really fucked up here. You could have streamed the series censored, have an age confirmation to watch the uncensored version, and then release that later down the line! But dropping Interspecies Reviewers has unleashed a fury of pissed off viewers who ended up trolling MyAnimeList and other websites. Yeah, thanks a lot! Those were some idiotic days on the internet! With all of that said, here’s what you might recognize these folks from.

*Stunk is played by Junji Majima (known for Ryuji on Toradora, Ryuunousuke on Assassination Classroom, Kimihito on Monster Musume, Nikaido on Shugo Chara, Racer on Fairy Tail, and Kouhei on Oreimo)

*Zel is played by Yuusuke Kobayashi (known for Subaru on ReZero, Tanukichi on Shimoneta, Arthur on Fire Force, and Marui on Food Wars)

*Crim is played by Miyu Tomita

FAVORITE CHARACTER: God bless this boy, I love Crim.

I know he’s got the short end of the stick in a lot of these reviews. But there’s nothing short about his stick if you get what I’m saying.

SHIPPING: DO STD’S EXIST IN THIS FUCKING WORLD?!

Look, all you need to know is that real love is not gonna happen in this franchise and just fuck it! Literally!

Actually, I really think the boys have a special place in their hearts for Meidri. I’m only basing this on episode 6 where the boys go to the Golem brothel to “Build-a-Bitch” and out of all the figures, ladies, and ways to build a bitch, their little Halfling friend builds a golem replica of Meidri. Maybe it’s because she’s familiar or they’re curious in case they end up having sex with Meidri in the future or if the Halfling has a thing for Meidri! I just know all four boys ended up fucking a golem in the likeness of Meidri AND gave it a great score.

But aside from that, there’s really nothing more to say except Stunk has a thing for that 500 year old fairy and Zel has a thing for a 60+ year old human.

IT’S FUN TO STAY AT THE…: It’s obvious that Japan has a thing for music made outside of the country. Especially those made in America (and England)! Recent examples are animes like Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, Eden of the East, and A Silent Voice actually using songs from groups like The Bangles, Oasis, and The Who. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE TIMES!

The OP song for this series is literally Y.M.C.A. except about getting your dick up to fuck!

And you know what? That was another missed fucking opportunity for FUNimation! This song could have gotten an English dub. Normally I despise it when English companies give an English dub to perfectly good opening and endings from Japan. But this would have been the ONE exception. GOD! Only in my dreams!

OH THIS IS WRONG: I don’t mean aspects of this anime! I’ve gotten used to the sex scenes and the shock factor of watching actual hentai at this point. Surprisingly, the one thing that got my feathers ruffled is at the end of some of the episodes where we get a small segment from a gentleman named Professor Ookina or Professor Poke if you will.

LOOK AT THIS FUCKING MAN!

Pokemon, why haven’t you sued yet? This is a sexual version of Professor Oak’s end-of-the-episode lectures. Unshou Ishizuka’s probably rolling over in his grave either from laughter, disgust, or that he didn’t live long enough to voice this colorful character. I haven’t settled on which to believe in!

ENDING: The last few episodes we saw a few interesting storylines. For one, we’ve got one brothel where all four adventurers gave the ladies a unanimous 10/10. Spend three days with the clones of a powerful woman and just all-around perfect scores. That is just unheard of! Even in the anime reviewing community, a perfect anime doesn’t exist. So stop trying to turn Interspecies Reviewers into the next Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. OKAY?! Not gonna happen! Just stop it! Stop it.

Then we had a gentleman who has generously been giving previous ladies of the evening perfect scores. This dude loves the ladies and sees the positives in all of them giving them all a perfect score. And I guess that does bring up a good point here.

Different strokes for different blokes! Not everyone is going to have the same taste as you. Stunk might have a thing for 500-year old fairies while Zel finds her old and disgusting. Zel might have a thing for Mitsue while Stunk finds banging 60-year old human whores repulsive. That’s where reviewers come in. They say the good and the bad when it comes to reviewing (insert profession here). In the case of this series, the boys have different tastes and when going to a foreign brothel, some of the ladies customs might confuse and weird out the boys. But in most cases, they had fun (except that afternoon watching girls laid eggs). So I’m glad Stunk and Zel found fault with the dude who gives 10/10’s like candy.

The final episode felt a little nostalgic as we revisit a race we haven’t seen since episode 2. Stunk and Zel find a business card for a demon brothel. They WERE supposed to go over and review the demon girls...

...but got side-tracked by the big-tit cowgirls.

Better late than never, but at least the demon brothel got some decent reviews by the boys. Good since demons are rated quite low in what men want to bang.

Then, the boys celebrate New Years by hitting up a good brothel to start the New Year off right. You know, start it off with a bang! It’s just that a lot of the popular brothels and Stunk’s regular hangouts are all booked up for the night. Lot of horny John’s on New Years! So the boys end up in a dream eater brothel. These girls take on the form of their dream succu-girl and believe it or not, the reviewers were very pleased. Almost like a pleasant dream!

Now conclusion wise, we really didn’t get Crim’s halo fixed nor did we go to Heaven to see Zel and Stunk get it on with some freaky angels. Instead, we get the same intro we got in episode one, reminding us that there are a barrage of brothels out there in this world and a bunch of succu-girls ready to suck your dicks off. And as long as we have succu-girls and brothels, there will always be reviewers like Stunk, Zel, and Crim to bust a nut! And I think Stunk is now going to visit his father’s harem now. Yeah, his old man has a harem. So there’s that! Too bad we’re not going to see that story.

I got to say…this wasn’t all that bad. In fact, I really liked this anime. And I’m usually rough on borderline-Hentai programs (and not in the good way). I am impressed at the creative way these men review these ladies and the brothels they work in. As an anime reviewer, I have to admire this. To take it all in with how these guys approach something such as having a one-night stand with a succu-girl! Each episode was a new experience with a new lady, sometimes two new brothels in the same episode. After their nights with a succu-girl, their reviews…actually, it’s best to watch it instead of taking my word for it.

NOW THEN! This is by no means on Top-Tier levels of Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. So you people on MyAnimeList better knock it the fuck off! Yes, FUNimation dropped the ball by dropping this series when they’ve clearly licensed and dubbed WORSE. But owning them this way is just going to come off as weird when we look back at this years later and laugh. On top of which, FUNimation wasn’t the only one that dropped Interspecies Reviewers. Amazon Prime and at least three television stations in Japan dropped this series in the middle of its run.

Oh good God this was a fun and bizarre ride and it was fun while it lasted. Come on y’all, face the facts. There is no way this anime is ever gonna get a second season unless they absolutely censor the fuck out of it over in Japan. Look at all the Japanese channels that dropped this series not even halfway into the run! The best I’m hoping for is an OVA release. That way they can show us all the sex and nipples they want. But a season two? You’d have a better chance getting a Haruhi Suzumiya continuation! Yeah, I said it and I ain’t taking it back! Despite it not being available anywhere in the states, I advise my anime friends and followers to at least give this a chance (as long as you’re not grossed out by sexual discourse).

If you would like to watch this series legally here in the states, you are shit out of luck unless you’re from Australia or Japan.

1. favorite anime?

“Wolf’s Rain”. It’s not the greatest anime of all time like FMA but I hold it very near and dear to my heart.

2. your worst anime?

I haven’t really ran into an anime I loathed per say but “Durarara!”, “Shimoneta: A Boring World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn't Exist”, “My Little Monster”, “Bleach”, and “The Devil Is A Part Time Worker” are all my least favorite for different reasons.

Durarara was the most frustrating though “My Little Monster” is a close second.

Devil was boring and so was Bleach--but luckily I dropped that one off quickly.

Shimoneta made me uncomfortable and the adult jokes didn’t make me laugh like some other lewd anime I have seen that were much better imo.

3. do you read the manga that goes along with the anime you watch?

Not really just because I don’t have the time or money to do it like I used to. The only one I am doing this for is “Attack on Titan” only because I couldn’t wait till the next season (it took them four years to make s2...).

4. most favorite genre?

I notice that I tend to like and enjoy “slice of life” more but I am pretty open to everything else with a few exceptions.

5. least favorite genres?

Pornographic and or blatant/crappy fanservice anime (I can enjoy silly/stupid fanservice animes if it’s harmless and fun but it’s the execution that can make it or break it for me).

6. favorite character?

There’s so many to name...I’ll pick my most recent favorite and it’s Miss Kobiyashi from “Miss Kobiyashi’s Dragon Maid”

7. least favorite character?

Saske from Naruto. I have others to name but he really pissed me off.

8. qualities you like in a character?

Typically cinnamon rolls who are courageous, level-headed, cute, relate-able (to me), fairly smart, and are kind-hearted. Not only that but they must have some sort of flaw that is a big part of their character (overcoming them or not is optional). Other factors include if the character is tragic and if they are able to earn my respect.

9. short or long anime?

Not really picky on this but I do lean towards shorter anime since I can watch them much faster...but it’s really because I tend to procrastinate with the longer ones (I still haven’t finished FMA or Rurouni Kenshin and its been months now).

10. anime or manga?

Anime but only because I have a hard time getting around to reading the manga. Also, as an extra bonus, I like both dubs and subs =P

11. how do you choose the anime you watch?

1) I like to watch some clips of the anime to decide if it’s something I might like (especially on anime I may not have given a chance like “Kiss Him Not Me” or “Miss Kobiyashi’s Dragon Maid” because I initially thought they were going to be bad).

3) Going with my gut basically. So far I have had more hits than misses!
