Do the light novels have anything that the anime left out with Ann and her mother? Their story really affected me. It probably didn’t help that I binged all of the anime in one sitting and that it came out shorty after I lost my mother. I loved the whole anime but do we get to see Ann again?

Yeah, there's a lot, actually. Their episode was the closest to its novel counterpart out of all the others and the Gaiden, but there was quite a lot of stuff left out.

We do! There are booklets written by the author that came out when the Gaiden movie was being screened, and one of them is about Ann. You can read my translation of it here. You might also want to read Ann's chapter from the novel in order to fully understand what's happening in this story, so here you go. While we're at it, I totally recommend that you read the whole novel if you ever feel like it. It's very much worth your time!

I finished watching Violet Evergarden a few days ago, and I was left in tears, of course. This show is absolutely beautiful as well as absolutely heart-breaking in every way. I love this anime so much- all of the characters are likeable, the music is stunning, and the animation is beautiful! I can't find a single thing I dislike about it, but one of my favorite episodes is the one where Violet goes to write letters for a sickly woman with a daughter named Ann. I love that episode so much- Ann is definitely among my favorite characters. She kind of reminds me of myself, and I adore how the episode ends, so I decided to draw her! Hope you like it <3

Hello! I’ve read your post about the connections with the characters in Violet Evergarden. If you didn’t point it out, I didn’t realize that Café Magnolia was owned by Ann’s father lol but im kinda lost since I’m new to the fandom. I haven’t read the part in w/c Charlotte and Damian built an orphanage and Taylor delivering the letters of Ann’s mother. Is it on the booklet?

The orphanage thing is implied in the Gaiden (it’s said that Drossel is a contributor to the orphanage), but we get another hint of it in Charlotte’s booklet, which ends with her proposing to Damian the idea of building the orphanage. The two also show up in a newspaper greeting the orphans in the anime. As for Taylor, it’s in Ann’s booklet.
