the funniest possible thing that could happen is if mercedes keeps hiring childhood best friends for their team and everybody's holding their breath waiting for them to tear each other apart like brocedes except it doesn't happen bc everyone else is normal about each other and brocedes is just that fucked up that they would've torn each other apart even if they were on different teams
#i like to think that in this hc both nico and lewis were waiting for the new team to tear each other apart just so they could feel like what#happened to them was an inevitability. except the new team doesn't tear each other apart and now they have to deal with the fact it was#their faults. not competing for the championship or the stress of being on the same team but just them. ripping each other apart for even#the slightest advantage. just them digging their fingers into the rotting carcass of their childhood friendship to hit each other where it#hurts. just them cannibalizing their childhood dream for even the most miniscule chance of beating each other. and what do you do then?#when the reason your friendship fell apart is bc you two couldn't put each other before the trophy? and what do you do when you know that#you wouldn't be you if you chose each other? what then? maybe it was inevitable. maybe it was fate.#auugh i love the inevitability of tragedies!!! this all came bc ppl kept saying that albon in merc would be brocedes 2.0 and like no!!! no#will ever be brocedes 2!!! nobody has the drama or the ethos/pathos/logos to be brocedes 2.0!! you dont have the frosties or the dreams or#greece!!! you dont have greece!!! and more importantly!!! nico and lewis were /weird/ about each other!!! no 1 else on this grid is weird#about each other the way nico and lewis were/are!!! nobody else is obsessed with each other the way they were!!!#anyway breakdown over#nico rosberg#lewis hamilton#brocedes#f1

I think the thing which stands out about Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton more than every other driver pairing is that they were genuinely close at one point. Yes it fizzled as they grew older and they very much did fall apart but- they were close. They admit that. Anyone who knew them knew that. Presenters knew that even before they were on the same team.
In a sport where so many drivers on the grid met previously in karting it’s easy to say “oh they just vaguely knew each other as kids and you’re inventing more out of it with hindsight” which is true of a lot of drivers in all honesty. But knowing of each other is not the same as inviting someone to join you on multiple family holidays. That’s not an acquaintance. And there’s so much more too.
The thing about brocedes is that none of the background is imagined. They wrestled in hotel rooms. They had competitions over pizza. Lewis went to Nico’s when he didn’t want to cook. Lewis phoned up their karting boss after their first shared podium. Nico still thinks of him as a friend in his heart. Lewis is a better teammate now. They live in the same building. They both turned vegan and had an extreme e team in a series about the environment and gender equality. Lewis gives Nico’s children’s presents. They’ve known each other a long long time. They dreamed of being teammates and world champions in Greece and it happened in a way they never predicted but it happened.
The story is there, the friendship between them was very much there but competition got in the way.
Because Nico Rosberg with a world champion father and having previously been teammates with Michael Schumacher and having Lewis Hamilton as a current teammate was never far enough away that achieving his dream was impossible. It wasn’t just 2016 that it technically came down to Abu Dhabi and he’s still up there in lists of pole positions, total race victories, consecutive race wins etc and he retired quite early. No he never had the potential either of his Mercedes teammates did but he was more than a second driver and he certainly proved that.
And Lewis Hamilton with so much talent and having been dealt unfortunate hands relative to the incredibly privileged world of Motorsport knew he had the potential to be the best and he couldn’t understand why Nico was trying so hard and using some pretty questionable tactics to beat him. And it really was ugly by the end to an unhealthy degree and I don’t think that anyone would deny that Lewis got the brunt of that.
It seems that in general both have matured a lot now (as tends to happen in a decade) and they’re on fine terms on the rare occasion they do see each other but it really is the best kind of tragedy. The ending was inevitable, no one would have made a different decision, but it’s important to remember the friendship was there. There can’t be betrayal without trust first.

Okay I’m sorry but the SHEER ANGST AND WHAT-IFS of Brocedes in that interview
The way Nico stuttered in that interview when he didn’t with Max and George. The way he bailed out of saying “It’s good to see you” and said “it’s good to see the positivity” until the end of the interview where he finally said it because Lewis was going and it was socially more acceptable
The way Lewis kept on self-soothing by rubbing his ear and scratching his head and spent over half the interview looking at the crowds and calmed down a little only when he realised Nico wasn’t going to be chaotic
And it wasn’t until Nico said “You’re still flat out motivated, right?” that Lewis looked him full in the face and smiled because that wasn’t a Sky news presenter asking a P2 driver a question. That was Nico Rosberg telling Lewis Hamilton the only way he knew how that Nico knows Lewis is still a champion and will still push no matter the dominance of the Red Bulls. That was Nico Rosberg saying I knew you would be here, Lewis. I know you’ll fight back.
Nico‘s been pushing Lewis all weekend even without seeing him; he pushed him in FP3 when Lewis didn’t come out on the inters and tried to get Merc’s communications director to make Lewis practice damp laps; he kept repeating that Lewis has this, that Lewis is an amazing driver. He asked Toto to his face why Mercedes hasn’t re-signed Lewis yet.
Lewis always said Nico’s the one who pushed him the most since they were kids. We can see it’s still true here.
Nico has been, and always will be, the one who pushes Lewis towards his next championship. Even if they aren’t friends anymore, even if all he can do to express his support is to say You’ll keep pushing. You’ll always keep pushing.

I am not a conspiracy theorist, Im not that person.
But I am saying that if any of the established top 3 teams had this many documented instances of questionable innovation, they would have had 75 FIA investigations right now. The other teams would have been raising these issues every other day, the car would be “randomly selected” at every race, and they would be putting out statements defending those wings that flex more than Conor McGregor at a Las Vegas casino.
But no. It’s McLaren, the chronically midfield team who are clinging to this underdog narrative so much that people are actually turning on the television like this billion pound constructor is Wrexham FC, so obviously the FIA/Liberty has no interest in looking into anything.

Listen here. Brocedes movie inspired by The Social Network? Excellent. But I raise you: Brocedes musical inspired by Merrily We Roll Along.
For those who don't know, Merrily We Roll Along is a musical about a tight-knit, years-old friendship between two guys and a girl and how it went to shit and tragedy mainly due to one of the guys, Frank, who was obsessed with success in the movie business.
It's really heartbreaking to watch a friendship deteriorate in front of your eyes per se, but here comes the stroke of genius that really stabs you through the chest.
The entire story is told backwards. You start with Frank, rich and famous, hosting a party at his house, surrounded by hoards of vips and celebrities. At that party we first find out that Frank used to be friend with a guy named Charles, who just won a Pulitzer, and then the woman who was the third member of Frank's trio (Frank, Charles and Mary) humiliates Frank in front of everybody, saying she despises everything he has become.
And then you go back. You see Frank, Charles and Mary just a little before that, with tensions who is just about to explode, everybody's angry and pissed, bit nothing's final. And then we go back again, and again, and again, until you end up at the end of the musical, which is the beginning of Frank's, Charles's and Mary's friendship, and they're all so happy and so close and would do anything for eachothers and they sing about how every road is open for them in life and you want to tear your heart from your chest because you just spend the whole show knowing they've already picked their roads and they all lead to heartbreak and they can never go back.
Now that you get the context, indulge my vision: first thing we see is Hamilton's news of signing with Ferrari and everybody being absolutely shocked and journalists asking Nico for his opinion. It's not specified who Nico is to Lewis. Then we go a little back, Nico's positive commentary on Lewis's races and Lewis flat out not reacting/avoiding him in the paddock. And then a little back, and a little back, and we go through all of the pivotal moments of Brocedes lore, we see "a better driver, and teammate", Nico's win+retirement, we see Spanish GP 2016 (plus Max's namedrop), we see Lewis and Nico as teammate for the first time, Lewis's first championship, Nico in Williams, the holidays in Greece, and then the show ends with young Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg meeting eachothers at karting competition and singing about finally having found a friend, the hope that they'll meet again, the dream of becoming f1 drivers and the promise to stay friends throughout it.
Now I made myself sad.

As a Lewis fan, all we can really do is sit here and laugh. Feels like every race weekend he's ahead and looks like he's doing well in free practice. All for it to come crashing down on Saturday because the tires weren't the right temperature. Just for him to be slightly more competitive on race pace. Rinse wash repeat. Every single time! And I don't even think Merc has an idea of why this keeps happening
