MTL vapers are seeing a lot of devices these days designed for their style of vaping. The Rose MTL RTA from Fumytech is one of the latest. Following on the heels of a few successful budget-friendly MTL RTAs like the Vandy Vape Berserker, the Innokin Ares, and the Digiflavor Siren, the Rose MTL looks like it could fit in just fine. Although the name Fumytech doesn’t ring out like those other brands, this RTA might just be the device to get their name in the discussion.

Will Fumytech come out smelling like roses?

The Rose MTL sports the telltale signs of an MTL tank: single-coil deck optimized for high-res builds, reduced chamber, tiny and adjustable (dual) airflow holes, a tight draw, plus a 510 drip tip. And it uses a restricted 1.8 mm airhole in the bottom of the deck to hit the center-mounted coil from underneath. It’s a GTA-style RTA and it has a build deck reminiscent of the Serpent Mini (SMM) from Wotofo. Like that RTA, the Rose has an ambidextrous, four-post deck that takes coils wrapped either left to right.

But this deck was meant for a single-strand wire. Yep, put those fused Claptons away! Like old school decks, you trap wires directly under the screw heads instead of through or under tapped post holes. To some that will be limiting, but that makes it easy for trapping single wire – which is ideal for an MTL build. I’ve built it twice. Once with 26 gauge and once with 30 gauge. Both were easy to trap.

To refill the Rose, unscrew the threaded top cap to access 6 x 4.3 mm fill holes. It’s a tad easier than two opposing fill slots with a lot of metal in between. Not exactly special, but convenient enough. Though, the threaded top cap, the part that kinda looks like an upside down Rose, is not the easiest to grip.

The draw ranges from tight but smooth to a restricted lung hit

In my estimation, the success of this RTA may hinge on its wick ports and how they fare with different wicking approaches. Instead of the c-cutout wick ports, the Rose uses wicking holes, also like the Serpent Mini (SMM). But these holes are much smaller. Just 2.9 mm. It’s gonna take a little finesse to not get those wicks bunched up. Since this is a GTA, the wicking has to be right considering the deck sits over the juice. Too tight and it chokes. Too loose and it floods. I’ve had the best luck with wicks cut almost flush with the bottom of the deck, and using a coil diameter of about 2.5 mm.

I’m still getting to know this atomizer. It’s not perfect, but preliminary testing (about 36 hours) has been positive. It’s not leaked at all and the only time my deck flooded was my first build when I used Halo original juice which is north of 70% PG. That could’ve been my wicking though. I’ve had no problems since that. The flavor has been about average for these types of RTAs, which is good, but the draw and hit have been more notable. It’s a legit MTL vape. The draw ranges from tight but smooth to a restricted lung hit. Vaping on 7 Pound Up Cake by Salty Man and it’s been my main vape for a day. Been going hard on it! Though, I probably overdid it a bit while typing this. Fans of nic salt may know what I mean.
