Positioning statement
Racism is a topic not many people want to discuss. Still, for many of us who are a part of the minority, racism shows up in quiet ways, being reduced to nothing but negative stereotypes, such as "Lazy" and "Aggressive."
Through this project, I wanted to capture the more boring, everyday lives often left out of the media. Growing up in South Auckland, I was made aware quite quickly of how my community was portrayed in the media and how it affected us. From the name-calling to being followed around in stores, it was very apparent that racism is an issue in New Zealand; it is just not something many people want to deal with. But I never understood how people could even believe these lies. There is a lot of beauty, a lot of depth that is often unseen or thought about, but when there is a lack of understanding, people are more easily influenced and stereotypes fill the gap, easy to label an entire community as "bad" then to understand. My trouble in paradise is racism, or more specifically, stereotypes.
I called this project Brown, a straight-to-the-point name of what kind of content the photo book would have inside, but also the perspective the book would be following. The perspective of a brown girl who lives in South Auckland. I wanted to show the quieter parts of life that a lot of us young Polynesians live, from eating chicken nibbles to the making of leis for the upcoming graduations, these are normal parts that are often left out. I wanted to drive home the point that for many of us who live here are all just doing our own thing, no criminal activity involved.
When I first started coming up with this theme, I was heavily influenced by Raymond Sagapoutele and his interview talking about the Pasifika perspective in photography. He talks about many things, but I was especially interested in the discussion of the importance of who is taking the photo, and how that can play an important role in storytelling. This helps ground my work because by taking this and adding it into my photography, it helped me remember that even though what I may be taking a photo of may not be uniquely "polynesian," the fact that it is in my home in a way does and helps the idea that this is apart of my everyday life as a pacific islander.
When looking for inspiration for this project, I looked at Geoffery Matautia, a photographer based in South Auckland. I enjoyed going through his front yard series and his white Sunday one. Both series highlight the community from family to church, he was able to capture the warmth that comes with being with people. Another photographer I looked into was Evotia Tamua and her series 'Salesi: A Village in Samoa'. A lot of candid photos portraying the more simple life back home in Samoa, and for me just like Geoffrey's work it was able to show community as well as documenting every day life.
One of my goals was to just get better at taking photos and working with a camera; in past assignments, I heavily relied on editing to do all the heavy lifting for me. Through this assignment, I feel as if I have gotten a bit better at working the camera, knowing what good lighting is, and knowing how to make the photos not so blurry.
When taking photos, one of the main issues I ran into was the weather. I initially wanted to take a lot of my images outside, but with the weather, I had to change that idea. I ended up taking a lot of photos indoors. I initially wanted to take a lot more posed portrait photos, but scheduling with the different models I wanted to use was always an issue. I had to take a step back from that original idea and used a lot more items that I had at home that could represent my theme differently. That is why there is a lot more items seen in my photobook, from the colourful flowers to images of a banana tree found in my backyard, I really had to get creative with what was on hand instead of relying on people to properly portray my idea.
I wanted to make my photos as bright as I could, taking inspiration from the different artist models, I wanted to make the photos warm and welcoming for everyone who will see them. That is why many of my photos have an orange tinge to them. When it came time to putting the photobook together, I didn't really like the idea of them being put individually, so much that I felt as if the photos were more fun to look at being put together but I also felt the images spoke for themselves when put side by side. I finally decided on an A4 landscape size, emulating a photo album and playing into the idea of being welcomed into an experience not a lot of people get to see.
This work is not meant to be the end of racism altogether. I saw it as more of a small glimpse into a community that is often overlooked. The quiet and boring parts of life are a shared experience amongst a lot of us islanders who live in South Auckland, and these parts deserve to be seen too.

Summative Concept Brainstorm
Tumblr media
When trying to come up with an idea for the summative assignment I created a mind map of ideas to try and help me choose my project. I broke it down into two sections, the first being "what" looking at different things I could photograph the process of, and the second being the "who" looking at who in particular I could focus this photoshoot on. At this stage I was still unsure what to photograph.
After talking with Raymond we came up with some more ideas that I could potentially do:
Figure out who would want to be photographed and what story they could tell:
Different people and special objects to them
Show the relationship between me and my sister, if she doesn’t want to be photographed can have her taking the photo instead if I’ve set up everything, could use reflections to show both of us, photograph candid moments throughout a week of our relationship
Photograph my Grandparents and their home, would I be photographed with them, how could that be not just me behind the camera but in - having a mirror show my reflection behind the camera?
Explore Lauren more from the formative park photos
After this chat I came up with an idea to photograph people and their houses instead of an object/the house was the 'object.'
Photographing different people and their different homes, shots from across the street getting closer to the house, having the person standing in front, leading/inviting the camera inside, or taking photos up to a window and then taking photos inside the house looking out the window, photographing special rooms in the house to the person, figure out the style of photography and posing of person - serious or candid, could potentially involve family photos?
I started to think about the concept more with the concept worksheet questions:
Who do you want to photograph?
I want to photograph different houses in Auckland where my friends and family live. Focusing on the exterior and moving inside with the person. I want to explore the different styles of homes compared to the different people, looking at people’s favourite rooms in the house. Exploring aspects that make the house feel like a home and not just a house.
What might link the group together?
I think the houses will link the people in this series, through the similarities and differences of exteriors and interiors, and the way the people use and feel about each room.
But I wasn't loving this idea fully and I wasn't 100% confident about it. After thinking about it a bit more, I then got an idea to photograph my friend creating art:
Photograph her painting, drawing
Photograph her supplies
Photograph her previous art works
The process of creating art; sketches, creating it, making it, displaying it
Portrait photos of her in this world - with paint brushes, paint on hands, young photos of her doing art?
I liked this idea the most and I felt a lot more confident about this project.

WEEK FOUR
More Photographer Research with same ideas:
Obsidian Urbex Photogrgahy:
"Nature is always waiting in the wings to reclaim what we have taken. When we abandoned our buildings, or discard an old car in a forest, it isn’t long before vegetation colonises what we have left behind. A smashed window or a collapsed roof is all it takes, a small opening for plant-life to enter and take root. In my opinion, the most beautiful of all abandoned places are ones that are being reclaimed by nature."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In their work they have a range of photograghs showing abandon buildings with overgrown nature surroding and growing inside. I really like this idea, and like how the images really show the vibrant green from the nature. It is also taken on a nice cloudy or sunny day. I feel like this really helps set the tone/ vibe of the images and the beauty of nature.
Jo Stephen - Ethereal nature photography
Jo Stephens is a self- taught photographer who captures soft and dreamy nature photographs. "there is a feeling of communion that lifts me from the noisy human world of constant chatter and anxieties and envelops me in a language older than words." They say that nature has helped with their healing and difficult times. In this article they show how they capture their images and other experiments that didn't quite work out. Personally I quite like the dreamy, glowy look these images give and makes me feel like I'm in a dream. I hope to capture similar shots like this for the assignment. To capture these images It would have to be a bright sunny day maybe sometime in the mornings where the sun is not too harsh, along with getting close up, with a nice background.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Photography exhibition – Man v Nature by Claire Lacey
A photography exhibition at Morley College, Westminster in London a photographer named Claire Lacey who is also a student and created a showcase of her work called Lacey In Places. In the exhibition she shows her images called Man V nature. Using her my home county of Suffolk she decided to set her given assessment of her parents’ farm and a former second world war airbase, which is full of overgrown war and farm relics. She decided to show the beauty and interlink growing of man vs nature - how when the two collide it can sometimes create beauty and depth. The project was strongly influenced by photographer Fay Godwin who was convinced the countryside was changing for the worse.
I really like the images Claire has photograghs as in reminds me also of my home town. Her images are quite dark and full of contrast, the images are full of dark green and overgrowing nature. I want to try incorporate the same ideas that are used in this project in my own work using west Auckland as the start of my location then heading more in towards the central city.

10 Cleaning Hacks Every Auckland Homeowner Should Know
A tidy home is crucial for fostering a healthy and joyful living space. In Auckland, where life is busy, and the climate can be unpredictable, keeping your house tidy requires smart strategies. Whether you opt for professional house cleaning Auckland services or prefer DIY methods, these ten hacks will transform your cleaning routine.
Tumblr media
Why House Cleaning in Auckland is Important
A clean home is more than just aesthetics. It impacts your health and well-being. Regular house cleaning in Auckland reduces allergens, improves air quality, and creates a peaceful atmosphere. If you're considering home cleaning services in Auckland, these tips will complement their efforts and ensure your home stays spotless between visits.
Tumblr media
Hack 1: Create a Cleaning Schedule
Consistency is key in house cleaning. Create a regular cleaning routine by setting aside specific days each week or month for various chores like dusting, vacuuming, or tidying the bathroom. This approach makes the process manageable and ensures no area is neglected.
Tumblr media
Hack 2: Use Natural Cleaning Products
Natural cleaning products are eco-friendly and safe for your family. Citrus juice, vinegar, and baking soda are powerful substitutes for harsh chemical cleaners. For example, combining vinegar with water creates a solution that cleans windows and mirrors flawlessly without leaving streaks.
Tumblr media
Hack 3: Declutter Regularly
Clutter makes cleaning more challenging. Regularly declutter your home by donating or disposing of items you no longer need. A clutter-free space is easier to clean and maintain.
Tumblr media
Hack 4: Invest in Quality Cleaning Tools
High-quality cleaning tools make a significant difference. Invest in durable mops, vacuums, and scrubbers. These items are built to endure and function optimally, helping you save both time and energy.
Tumblr media
Hack 5: Clean from Top to Bottom
Start cleaning from the top of the room and work your way down. This method ensures that dust and dirt fall to the floor, which you can clean last. It prevents re-cleaning surfaces and saves time.
Tumblr media
Hack 6: Focus on High-Traffic Areas
High-traffic areas like entryways and kitchens require more frequent cleaning. Pay extra attention to these spaces to maintain overall cleanliness. Frequently clean surfaces and vacuum your floors to maintain a neat appearance.
Tumblr media
Hack 7: Utilize Storage Solutions
Storage solutions help keep your home organised. Use baskets, shelves, and organisers to store items neatly. An organised space is easier to clean and looks more inviting.
Tumblr media
Hack 8: Don't Forget Hidden Spaces
Hidden spaces like under the bed or behind furniture can accumulate dust and dirt. Regularly clean these areas to maintain a truly clean home. Move furniture and use extendable dusters to reach difficult spots.
Tumblr media
Hack 9: Involve the Whole Family
Cleaning is a shared responsibility. Involve your family in the cleaning process. Assign age-appropriate tasks to children and divide responsibilities among adults. This approach makes cleaning faster and more enjoyable.
Tumblr media
Hack 10: Consider Professional Services
Sometimes, professional help is necessary. Home cleaning services in Auckland offer thorough cleaning solutions tailored to your needs. Whether you need regular domestic cleaning in Auckland or a one-time deep clean, professionals can handle it.
Tumblr media
Transform Your Cleaning Routine
These ten expert cleaning hacks will revolutionise your house cleaning Auckland routine. By incorporating these tips, you'll maintain a cleaner, healthier home with less effort. If you're overwhelmed, consider hiring house cleaning services in Auckland to assist you.

5 Office Relocation Challenges & How Auckland Movers Solve Them
Moving an office involves multiple steps, requiring careful coordination and strategic planning. From minimising downtime to ensuring a seamless transition, businesses face several challenges when moving to a new location. Fortunately, professional office movers in Auckland specialise in handling these obstacles efficiently, allowing companies to resume operations quickly.
Office relocations demand more than just transporting furniture and equipment. There are logistics, IT infrastructure, employee coordination, and legal considerations that must be managed carefully. Understanding the common challenges businesses encounter during relocation and how experienced movers tackle them can help make the process smoother and stress-free.
1. Minimising Business Downtime
One of the biggest concerns during an office relocation is minimising downtime. Even a brief disruption can impact productivity, cause delays, and result in financial losses. Many businesses struggle to keep operations running smoothly while shifting their workplace.
Professional office relocation services in Auckland streamline the process with strategic planning and efficient execution. Movers coordinate each step to ensure a seamless transition, often working after hours or during weekends to avoid interruptions. By using advanced scheduling techniques and specialised equipment, businesses can resume operations with minimal disruption.
Tumblr media
2. Safeguarding IT Infrastructure & Data Security
A well-functioning IT setup is essential for the smooth operation of any office. Servers, computers, and networking equipment must be carefully dismantled, transported, and reinstalled without data loss or damage. A poorly managed move can lead to system failures, data breaches, or extended downtime, affecting business continuity.
Reliable office movers in Auckland understand the importance of handling IT assets with precision. They offer secure packing solutions, cable management, and structured relocation strategies to protect critical systems. Many also collaborate with IT professionals to ensure a smooth transition of data centres, telecommunication systems, and workstations.
3. Managing Heavy Equipment & Specialised Furniture
Moving office furniture, workstations, filing cabinets, and bulky equipment requires proper handling to prevent damage. Incorrect lifting techniques or inadequate transportation can result in expensive repairs or replacements. Additionally, items such as safes, large printers, and delicate glass partitions require special handling.
Auckland-based office movers utilise specialist lifting equipment, protective packaging, and trained staff to ensure all office assets are relocated safely. They assess the office layout, dismantle furniture if necessary, and reassemble it at the new site, ensuring everything fits perfectly in the new workspace.
4. Coordination & Employee Management
Employees play a crucial role in the relocation process, and poor coordination can lead to confusion and frustration. Assigning relocation responsibilities to internal teams can divert focus from core tasks, increasing stress and inefficiency. Without proper guidance, packing and organising can become overwhelming.
Experienced office movers in Auckland take the lead by providing structured move management plans, labelling systems, and real-time tracking. This ensures that employees stay informed, reducing confusion and workload. Many moving companies also offer workspace planning services, helping businesses arrange desks, meeting rooms, and common areas effectively.
5. Compliance & Legal Considerations
Every office move involves compliance with building regulations, lease agreements, and occupational health and safety requirements. Ignoring these factors can lead to penalties, security issues, or unexpected delays. Businesses must ensure the move complies with local laws, including waste disposal and access restrictions.
Auckland’s professional movers are familiar with local regulations and legal requirements related to office relocations. They help businesses navigate lease agreements, manage building access, and ensure the relocation process adheres to all safety standards. Some movers also offer eco-friendly disposal services, recycling old furniture and electronic waste responsibly.
Tumblr media
Final Thoughts
Office relocations involve multiple challenges, but with the right expertise, the process becomes far more manageable. Office movers in Auckland offer tailored solutions to handle complex logistics, IT setups, heavy lifting, and compliance concerns, ensuring businesses experience minimal disruption. Choosing professional movers means companies can focus on growth, productivity, and a seamless transition to their new workspace.
FAQs
1. How far in advance should an office move be planned?
Planning an office move at least a few months ahead ensures a smooth and organised transition. Early preparation allows businesses to coordinate logistics, notify employees, and ensure IT infrastructure is transitioned smoothly.
2. How do office movers in Auckland protect sensitive equipment?
Professional movers use protective wrapping, secure packing, and climate-controlled transport for IT equipment, ensuring safe relocation. Some companies also provide insurance for added security.
3. Can an office move be scheduled outside working hours?
Yes, many moving companies offer after-hours and weekend relocations to minimise business downtime and ensure a seamless transition.
4. What happens to old office furniture and equipment?
Many Auckland movers offer recycling and disposal services, ensuring unwanted furniture and electronic waste are disposed of responsibly.
5. How do businesses ensure minimal disruption during an office move?
A structured relocation plan, clear employee communication, and hiring experienced office movers in Auckland help minimise downtime and ensure an efficient move.

Week 11 SDL- Development (homestay, my place)
This week, I revisited my former homestay and explored lighting at different times in my student accommodation. I not only took photos but also had meaningful conversations with my hosts. I learned about their lives after departing New Zealand and their past experiences. These discussions helped me gain control over what photos to take and how to present their stories.
Chatting with different generations provides valuable lessons. My female host shared that she grew up in poverty, living in a house infested with bugs while her mother worked long hours. Although I didn’t experience her hardships, I can empathize with her story. My male host, who has suffered three strokes, appears haggard in the photos, reflecting the fragility of life.
The images I captured this week serve not only as an assignment but also as cherished memories. I believe that realism is key to good storytelling; a powerful narrative often doesn’t require complexity. This simplicity can evoke strong emotions in the audience. I draw inspiration from past Auckland photographers, whose work emphasizes naturalness and the relationships between people.

Week 9- I am losing my mind
TW: Descriptions about breakdowns, anxiety
Figure 1
Picture of a man crying
Tumblr media
Note: This is an Indonesian meme of a man saying, "I don't care!" but his crying subconscious is instead saying, "(Bro) that's enough". Overall, it indicates that the man wants something to be over despite saying he is doing fine.
Welp. It is almost the end...hahahahaha
But on a serious note, I did not took it as good and smoothly as I thought I would 😭.
What?
Week nine ventures into the Te Whiwhinga phase, which can be described as the starting week where I spiralled down. I got hit with a big reality check that the poster was due the following week, at week 10. This made me wonder what I have done over the past weeks despite feeling and knowing I made some progress. Consequently, this shapes a mindset of thinking that I am unable to finish by the time the deadline comes. And truth be told...this placed me under stress that I have never felt before.
TW: Descriptions of anxiety and breakdowns
Although it might seem that my problem is not as heavy, somehow, I had three breakdowns over week nine. These breakdowns were mainly characterised by the feeling of being unable to finish on time-- terribly scares me, knowing that finding the poster materials would be difficult. During these low moments, I often felt that the silence around me was slowly driving me insane, given how loud my thoughts were. In other words, being alone with my thoughts overwhelmed me; at the same time, I found it challenging to continue regardless of whether I was with people or alone due to being restless. Whenever I calmed down, the idea of thinking about the project itself caused me to feel pressure on my chest.
I felt lost, as I did not know where to go. Going home sent me to a more anxious state, as that is where I often had my breakdowns, but being in the university does not help either. The exercises I was suggested to do (by a professional) did not seem to work either. These were mainly the anxiety grounding techniques and having to differentiate emotions and feelings in order to implement self-confidence. However, despite this and the company I had, I could not help but feel lost, anxious and scared.
The reason I am opening up about this is that my everyday life was impacted during these moments, and that I am currently in a better state to share. Whether I was thinking about my assignments or not, I was often restless and sought solace in work outside of university. Despite being in a better state than week nine, I am still unsure how I can deal with, overcome and prevent this from reoccurring.
Okay, enough with this and it is time for progress updates!
For the entire week, I began my official drawings and iterated directly on Illustrator. My progress was slowed down due to my mental state; however, I have created progress that has significantly helped me in the following weeks.
Official Drawings
I knew that only having a week to complete the drawings would be realistically not possible (might be). I decided to make four drawings but ended up making three. And 3to give a full effect, I considered making dummy cards.

Illustrations of species

Note: From the left to right, Tui bird, Koru and Nikau palm.
Each drawing took approximately two days, as my research came up with different answers and conclusions. There are pages mentioning a species native to Auckland CBD, but others contradict this fact. Getting this sorted took a bit of time, and I must admit that my method was not as sustainable. At first, I drew the Tui bird in a different colour palette, referencing drawings I found on the internet. Turns out, I got it completely wrong 😃.
Card iterations
Figure 3
Card iterations

Note: From left to right, first, second and third card iterations.
At this point, I was still confused about my solution idea. I understood it but saw flaws in it, too. Nonetheless, I went on with the idea until the following feedback. To recap, this version has three decks of cards: prompt, flora and fauna and questions. I had sketches of making the prompt card a leaf but ultimately decided against it.
The first iteration shows the prompt card as more fancy, while the subsequent iterations present a more friendly and comfortable feel. Despite this, I still felt as though something is oddly missing and wrong...
Third Physical Prototype + Feedback
Returning to the leaf design, I decided to make a quick prototype with this shape, which was also used to get feedback from the stream leader. This was also an opportunity to experiment with paper types. I tested out three different papers with 1000mic, 830mic and 530mic thicknesses.
These are some insights I gathered:
Middle and least thick papers (830mic and 530mic) are the best options. 1000mic is way too thick and stiff, while the 830mic is rigid but flexible, and the 530mic is flexible and easiest to cut. However, this comes back to what kind of card game I am going for.
Paper colour matters. The papers I got for this experiment were brown, significantly affecting the overall colour quality.
Paper cutter, my best friend. In this experiment, I cut the papers using a paper cutter at home. Compared to manually cutting, the results are generally better, as it is neater.
This prototype feedback was significant feedback that changed the course of my project's direction. I realised further that the prompt cards were difficult to understand after the stream leader gave input, saying that the deck might confuse players. With this, I was advised to add more environment-related interactive environments.
This was an aspect I had difficulties about.
The feedback I received was to get rid of the prompt card and instead add a map to encourage international students playing to explore the city together to discover the species.
So What?
Overall, this experience tells me I should have allocated more time for this part of the project. Most importantly, I need to reflect on my working methods. Looking back, despite not having much time, I could have adjusted my approach accordingly.
I acknowledge that I felt stressed. However, this should not be an aspect significantly hindering my progress. The card iterations taught me that having sketches does not really help me sometimes. It made me further realise that I value iterating and ideating directly on the software (in this case, Illustrator), as this seems to be the push to get me started.
Another valuable insight I got from my experience is related to prototypes. I have expressed how I changed the idea of using a leaf shape but then created a quick prototype of it anyway. I believe prioritising some activities will be a better approach to this. Placing importance on some activities, or in general, having a clear sequence in my approach will be more time efficient.
Reflecting, I think stress and overthinking thoughts drove me over week nine. Honestly, I felt quite displaced and did not feel like myself in the previous weeks, but these feelings were emphasised in week nine. I felt as though I was in autopilot mode for almost all of week nine, and that I was not truly present in the moment.
Now What?
Well, I do not have many solutions for the challenges I encounter due to my mental state. In the previous weeks, I mentioned plans I wanted to try out. However, these plans did not work in the end, as it seemed like everything just fell apart once I was heavily under pressure. This is a matter that I will be discussing with someone else and hopefully find a solution to.
Overall, I realise that managing and organising my time is something that I struggle with. Specifically, I need to create a better work approach structure to maximise my time efficiently. I noticed that having reminders or written schedules does not really help me, as I tend to forget and do not even bother to look at it. However, this is something that I can change, perhaps through constant exposure to the action and idea.
I need to set priorities for specific tasks and create some sort of hierarchy (I do not like that word, as it means something else in my research). This will start from the most important, in which the least important task can be abandoned depending on necessity. Frankly, I feel that I can set a mindset to adopt this action plan. This will start with thinking and understanding each weight of tasks and setting priority to which is heaviest.
Side note: I have asked my mum to pray for me, which kind of indicates how desperate I currently am 😭.

Why a Laundry Bag is a Must-Have for Every Household in New Zealand?
Laundry bags may seem like a simple household item, but their utility and importance can't be overstated, especially in a country like New Zealand where outdoor activities, unpredictable weather, and a love for adventure are a part of everyday life. Whether you're a student, a busy parent, or someone living in a small apartment, a laundry bag NZ is an essential tool that can make managing dirty clothes much easier.
Tumblr media
1. Protect Your Clothes
One of the primary reasons to invest in a quality laundry bag is to protect your clothes during washing. Laundry bags, particularly those made from mesh, can help prevent delicate fabrics from getting damaged in the wash. In New Zealand, where outdoor activities like hiking, beach trips, and sports are common, clothes often bear the brunt of dirt, grime, and sweat. Throwing these clothes directly into the washing machine without any protection can lead to tears, snags, and premature wear. A laundry bag ensures that your favorite garments, whether they’re delicate fabrics or robust outdoor gear, stay in good condition for longer.
2. Simplify Sorting and Organizing
In a busy household, sorting laundry can be a daunting task. A laundry bag can be a lifesaver in this regard. Instead of letting dirty clothes pile up in a corner, you can assign different bags for different types of laundry—whites, colors, delicates, and heavy-duty items like towels or jeans. This system not only keeps your home tidy but also speeds up laundry day. You won’t have to spend time sorting clothes before each wash, as the laundry is already organized into its respective categories.
3. Easy Transport
Whether you're living in a flat, a dormitory, or a house with a laundry room at the far end, carrying your dirty clothes can be cumbersome. Laundry bags are designed for easy transport, with durable handles or drawstrings that make carrying heavy loads more manageable. For those living in apartments or shared housing in cities like Auckland or Wellington, where space is at a premium, having a laundry bag that can easily be transported to a laundromat or a shared laundry facility is essential.
4. Versatility
A laundry bag is not just for laundry. In New Zealand, where many people enjoy the outdoors, a laundry bag can be used for various purposes. It can serve as a storage solution for outdoor gear, beach toys, or even as a carry-all for camping trips. Its lightweight and durable design make it an ideal companion for outdoor adventures, keeping your items organized and easy to transport.
5. Eco-Friendly Option
In a country that prides itself on its natural beauty and commitment to sustainability, opting for a reusable laundry bag is a small but significant step towards reducing plastic waste. Instead of relying on disposable plastic bags for transporting dirty laundry or storing items, a reusable laundry bag offers a more environmentally friendly alternative.
Tumblr media
Conclusion
A laundry bag NZ is an essential household item for every Kiwi. From protecting your clothes to simplifying the laundry process, offering easy transport, and even contributing to eco-friendly practices, a laundry bag is a versatile tool that can enhance your daily life in many ways. So, whether you're a city dweller or someone living in the countryside, make sure you have a quality laundry bag in your home—you’ll wonder how you ever managed without one!

Introduction-
I am an inspiring communication designer. I was born and raised in Auckland, New Zealand. More specifically Rural south Auckland. I graduated year 13 at Kings College with satisfying results within my design work. My graphic design teacher was the one who sparked my interest. When creating logos for an assignment the encouragement and delight I got on my pieces were unexpected. When I saw my results I knew this is what I was supposed to be doing. My purpose in becoming a designer is to express myself and thoughts to other people. I want to aim to capture the attention of others through my design pieces that have come from thoughts, experiences and places I have been. Places that are special to me as a designer.  I love to let my creativity take over when I design. I don’t care what other preferences people have as I know there is no wrong in art. Design makes me feel like I have something to excel at. Because I’m a first year University student I haven’t had much experience with design in the big world. I designed coffee cards for my old work which was a small coffee shop local to me. The coffee cards being the type you keep as a customer to stamp when you buy a coffee to eventually reach a freebie.  I also have helped in creating small advertisement videos for my dads company during Covid. I have done  a few different jobs like the coffee card designs and video editing  all  in the last few years. These are probably considered my great achievements in design so far in my career. Some aspects I love using in my work are the use of color, texture and movement. Design is my passion and I’m excited to see what it brings me in my future.
-Katelyn Harris
Rationale-
My intentions with my design was to express the issue of caffeine intake of NewZealanders. I chose this political problem as I am A massive coffee drinker. I am not personally into energy drinks which also contain caffeine, so I decided to use the Darker and lighter browns to portray coffee more than energy drinks. Although I did trial  and error with colors that would link with energy drinks, it just wasn’t the vibe I was going for. My inspiration behind the swirling of the words ‘Too much caffeine’ is Latte art. The swirl also represents a person's mood whilst consuming a caffeinated drink. Your mood rises and slowly spirals and crashes back down. The phrase ‘what are we consuming’ comes back to what are we actually putting into our bodies? Should the citizens of Aotearoa be more cautious? I used a combination of different coloured shapes and squares to show the sharpness of my intentions to get the message of caution around caffeine. I wanted to capture the audience's eye not only with the chosen typeface but with bold colors, also by using different textures inside said squares to create more coffee/latte references.
