It’s really becoming lost to time because ECW died, but the Dusty Rhodes vs. Steve Corino angle was great. Then extending off that, the whole Steve Corino “King of Old School” story was great as well. Interrupting a Limp Bizkit concert and telling Fred Durst their music sucks? What an amazing piece of business for 2000.

The internet is littered with “Sports Entertainment” vs. “Pro Wrestling” discussion, and I’ve always been of the mind that the perfect show is never just one thing. WWE goes too blown sports entertainment for my tastes, and AEW tends to be too early 00s message board smart mark pro wrestling. To me, a great wrestling show has room for a Misawa vs. Kobashi match, and Crash Holly Hardcore Title shenanigans, you know?

There are probably better in ring talents, and probably better promos. But when you put the entire package together with the vibe, aura, and presence? For my personal tastes and money, there isn’t more of a TOP GUY and WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MATERIAL than Jon Moxley. At this exact moment.

I wonder how ridiculous wrestlers felt during the days when kayfabe was still a thing, and they show up at these normal functions in full entrance dress? Here’s all these people in suits or generally nice clothes, and here’s you in full spandex, looking like a dickhead. Randy Savage is seriously the only person who can get away with that shit, and it feel normal.
