Jupiter in various house
Jupiter in Hindi is called “Brihaspati”, with Brihat meaning large. Its the largest planet, in fact with 80 moons, Jupiter is a solar system in itself.
Also in mythology, known as Devguru, it shows presence of God in a horoscope.
We may also note, that presence of god is good, but not always comforting. Just imagine, God sitting in your bedroom, lot of things would get restricted, so, though, aspect of Jupiter is always good, presence in a materialistic house, like wealth may not be good.
In astrology, Jupiter is widely referred to as "the Great Benefic," meaning it holds an abundance of gifts and is always prepared to bestow its generosity onto us. Jupiter's energy is joyous and optimistic, and it's often responsible for showing us how to remain positive in difficult times.
Jupiter in the First House
Large in size, tall, you present a jovial, kind, altruistic manner to the world around you, generally beginning any new undertaking with optimism and faith.
Jupiter in the Second House
Others might think you are lucky with money, gifts, or personal possessions. In fact, you are extremely resourceful.
Jupiter in the Third House
Your presentation or communication to others, makes you appear like an expert, or a guru.
Jupiter in the Fourth House
Your strong instincts tend to guide you, particularly on a professional level. You readily make warm connections with others, particularly valuing your family and close loved ones. You likely feel that “happiness is home.”
Jupiter in the Fifth House
You are generous, playful, and warm, particularly with children and in your romantic life.
Jupiter in the Sixth House
You have high standards in your business dealings with others, believing that one should always treat others with respect and faith.
Jupiter in the Seventh House
Cultivating close, rewarding partnerships is important to you. You might naturally use charm and grace to reach your goals.
Jupiter in the Eighth House
You are talented at strategy, research, and investigation. Getting to the root of any problem is important to you as you instinctively feel that this is where the answer lies.
Jupiter in the Ninth House
You are always hungry for knowledge and wisdom. With your naturally philosophical nature, you enjoy sharing your opinions and knowledge with others. You can be a natural teacher, and you love the learning process.
Jupiter in the Tenth House
Others might see you as “lucky” when it comes to your career and business opportunities. It is natural for you to excel, and if others help you along the way, it is probably because of your winning attitude.
Jupiter in the Eleventh House
Your social life means a lot to you, and you take great pleasure in connecting with your friends as well as involvement in teams and groups or with your community. You display great tolerance and humanitarianism.
Jupiter in the Twelfth House
This position of Jupiter by house is often considered the guardian angel position — something seems to save you just in the nick of time, probably due to your inborn faith in the universe. Solitude, working alone, and meditation can bring you great pleasure and a sense of rejuvenation. You are merciful and generous, often anonymously.

Some Amit Thakkar Headcanons
Tumblr media
Since Amit is getting some much appreciated love, I decided to share some headcanons about him. Please note I really tried to research as much as I could about India, looking up as much as I could and talking to some of my colleagues who come from varying parts of India, but if I do get some things wrong, please let me know!
He is Gujarati ( Solely based on the surname Thakkar, which is commonly found in the Gujarat state in India)
Amit Thakkar is not his full name ( If we are following the naming system of the Gujarati, it would be his given name, his father's name and his surname in that order. We are missing his father's name.)
He's an Aries ( Again, if we are following the Gurajati naming traditions, his given name, Amit would respond to his Rashi, the Indian Horoscope. Amit responds to the sign Mesha, which Aries is the equivalent)
His family is wealthy and highly educated, and were able to send him to Hogwarts due to their ties to the British Raj. (New telescope aside, a clue lies within the surname. Thakkar is also a common surname found among the Lohana 'Jati' people of Western India where Gujarat is, are famed for being traders. Some of the Lohanas who manage to get an education worked for the British Raj. It is a long history, but this is as best as I can sum it up.)
He is shaken from his first adventure, but secretly he wants more. (Again, we are going back to the Thakkar surname, where it is said they are from the Kshatriya caste which is tied to warrior aristocracy. I like to believe he still got some of that in him, otherwise he wouldn't willingly enter a goblin mine)
He loves astrology as it is closely tied to his Hindu religion. (Thakkar as a surname is closely tied to Hinduism, where astrology is found under the Jyotisha, one of the six auxiliary disciplines of Hinduism, mainly used for time keeping.)
He has family in Colonial India and Africa. (Again back to the Thakkar surname, there were many Thakkars who migrated to the British African colonies like Uganda for example)
He is a polygot. (Ok this might be a bit of a stretch, but I'm just basing it around his family being traders and highly educated. India has plenty of languages, so it wouldn't surprise me if Amit had to learn Hindi, Gujarati, and English to get by, yet he still has time to learn Gobbledegook.)
Well that is all I got for now. Please let me know if there are things to add!

history.
forever a quiet child, her parents would often boast that their third child rarely cried or caused a fuss, and growing up everyone knew that the best place to find her would be in the royal library, where she would normally be sitting with her nose in a book and many more surrounding her. parvati often drifted to the background while her siblings, both older and younger, took the spotlight but she had no qualms with it, preferring playing a secondary role to any adventures her siblings embarked upon than leading one of her own. however, she was constantly there to offer advice or reassuring words if any member of her family ever needed it.
parvati dedicated most of her years to her studies. she immensely enjoyed learning about whatever topic she could get her hands on, often spending hours upon hours in the library, even falling asleep there on occasion. the only lessons that pulled her away from her books were her courtesy lessons. a perfect lady, so proper and demure, her governess would say.
leaving home never interested her nor did aspirations of wedding someone who'd one day inherit a throne, despite a few proposals offered over the years. no, she was content remaining in the familiar halls of her home, acting as an advisor to her eldest sister, being a voice of logical reason in a room sometimes clouded with conflicting motives, ensuring that her sister's reign was secure and strong.
love did bless her in the form of a first love who stole the princess' heart. everyone at court would whisper that a proposal was imminent, but then the months stretched on. even parvati wondered about the noble's intentions and then suddenly there was another contender for her hand, one who made his intentions clear the moment they met. within the year the two were betrothed; parvati's happiness was apparent to all, and india celebrated the union as if months ago they hadn't been rooting for another.
yet not all the glittered was gold; a truth parvati discovered once the initial wedding bliss faded. her spouse's demeanor began changing; he began requesting that she speak with the empress about matters and political decisions that would benefit his family and their interests, believing that the empress would be swayed if parvati advocated for the ideas. she refused each time. the more she did, the colder he became - but only in private. in public, he played the role of a doting husband utterly in love with his wife. the realization that she'd been used from the start hit her hard, but parvati didn't say a word about the reality of her marriage to anyone. when asked, she too would play the role of an infatuated wife. no one could know the truth. she would not burden her family with what had happened, especially not rashmi.
when her husband was wounded during a hunt and eventually passed, parvati, despite publicly grieving, felt only relief. she was free at last. she could return home to lal qila and be surrounded by her family again. she could, hopefully, find happiness again. however, since returning home parvati couldn't help but feel like something was amiss, especially as her advice, which was normally welcomed, seemed to fall upon deaf ears more and more often.
arc o1.
as tensions rose in lal qila, parvati did her best to quell them. she could understand why some were upset ( the ball, the lack of answers, the perceived insult to thailand ) but she also knew that her family were doing their best. as more people called for vengeance, she continued advocating for the still metaphorical swords to be dropped, believing that division and infighting was exactly what the true culprits wanted. the reunion with her first love was an additional complication but parvati did her best to focus on the more important matters. her older sister needed her, needed her guidance, especially as more secrets were spilled and enemies felt closer with every passing day.
timeskip.
parvati remembered the day each member of her family died in vivid detail. it felt like her entire world shattered. for she had seen her future clearly, rashmi and her wives would rule, leading the empire into another generation to prosperity, and parvati would be at her sister's side, advising her and ensuring her legacy. but now her sister was gone. her older bother, her sister in law, and indira too. the grief was immense. ( tw ! ) one day parvati wandered into rashmi's sitting room and stared at the bottles of wine, wondering what one contained the poison and how much a fatal dose would be, only to flee the room before trying one. but it wasn't the last time similar thoughts entered her mind. ( tw end )
most of the days blended together. she vaguely remembered the visiting nations leaving, followed by talk of civil conflict spreading throughout the empire, and people looking to her for guidance - each time she'd look around for her sister and the knife would twist. still she tried to quell the conflict that swept across the empire but it had spiraled out of control. it didn't matter if she solved one problem, two more would replace it.
when the bhatis took over, parvati believed it was the end. she knew her histories: many times in order for a new monarchy to rise, the former must be eliminated. however, her younger sibling and her are not only permitted to live but retain their titles as honorary guests of the bhati family. it was then that parvati remembered the other histories, of former royals only exiled or kept close so they could not be forged into martyrs - so the new regime was strengthened through their mercy. when the bhati ruler proposed they wed and join their families, parvati knew it wasn't a choice. the last sharmas would be used to legitimize the new rule. this was the path they wanted her to walk.
she felt like a prisoner in her own home. a princess in name alone, a hostage in all other regards. not that she was treated cruelly but a gilded cage was still a cage. no matter what words were spoken, parvati couldn't shake the feeling that they were all empty. her fear grew, whispering in her ear that if she stepped out of line she would be punished, possibly killed. she didn't dare speak a word of her feelings. the empire had suffered enough; they needed stability not further fighting. instead, parvati secluded herself, only stepping outside of lal qila when her presence was necessary or to pray, and avoiding most people.
a year passed and parvati still struggled to not reach for her plain, white sari every morning. the summit in ethiopia would mark her longest departure from her seclusion. a part of her dreaded having to see the faces of everyone who turned their backs on her sister when rashmi had only been trying to help. another part of her was unsure how to approach the gathering. she knew the role she was expected to play: a dutiful betrothed, a symbol of a unified empire reclaiming their strength. but should she bow her head, accept the new dynasty, and her future place in it? or should she seize the opportunity, seek out allies, and attempt to restore her family's status? if only her older sister was still alive to advise her as parvati once tried to advise rashmi. but parvati sharma was quite alone now.
headcanons.
the biggest bookworm. she's constantly looking for new books to bring to the royal library despite there still being hundreds already on the shelves that she hasn't read yet. finding her without a book is a rarity. even sometimes at gatherings she's hide a book in the corner of the room or out on a balcony so she can read a little when she needs breaks from socializing.
she does enjoy tinkering with possible new ideas and inventions. has played an active role in assisting with new advancements in the mughal empire in the past be it as an advisor or leading a few small initiatives herself.
she's extremely bright, and her mind is extremely logical, which is why she made an excellent advisor. she does her best to look objectively at all situations in order to find the ideal path forward.
the loss of her family is a wound she doubt she'll ever recover from. all her life there was nothing more important to parvati than her family. she is absolutely terrified that she'll lose her younger sibling to and thus has grown extremely protective of them, constantly worrying about their safety.
she has never had any desire to hold any power herself and only ever wanted to help her sister's empire in whatever way she can. a sentiment that still remains. when the thought of restoring the sharmas as rulers enters her mind, it's always with the image of her younger sibling on the throne - especially because parvati doesn't believe herself capable of ruling.
after what happened in her first marriage and realizing that her husband only courted her because he wanted to use her, parvati believes that no one will ever want to marry her for love but rather only want her wealth and title. it's that belief that made doubting the bhati's ruler sincerity when they proposed marriage easier. a similar wariness is extended toward people trying to endear themselves to her in general.
that being said, she does genuinely want to find real love. she simply doesn't believe it's likely to happen given the reality of the world.
she really hates conflict of any sort and will either react passively or try to play peacemaker. the former has become more common since the reckoning.
she does have a pet elephant who she raised since it was a baby after its mother passed. she also has a female cat as a pet.
her self-confidence is at an all time low following the loss of her family and her change in status. parvati does blame herself for what happened, for not giving rashmi better advice, for not noticing she was being poisoned sooner, and now doubts herself often. in contrast, her timidness has grown immensely, occasionally getting close to paranoia.

Releases on June 13th
Summary:
Madhuri Iyer doesn't believe in astrology. So when her mom reads her horoscope for the year and it predicts failure, she decides she will create a fake relationship on her own terms to disprove not only her prophecy, but also the Iyer family curse, where Iyer women always end up with the first man they get with. The guy she selects to fake-date her? Arjun Mehta, her best friend. Except, well, Arjun's been in love with her for years but she doesn't know that.
Some background:
Listen, I'm a pretty simple South Indian gal: if I see an author by the name of Ananya Devarajan, a heroine named Madhuri Iyer, and a cover with two dark-skinned Indian characters, I'm going to read that book pretty much regardless of the content. And when I found out this was Ananya's debut novel, and our cultural backgrounds were pretty similar, I knew I had to give this book a shot.
My review:
Before we get into the meat of the review, two language-related issues I want to note:
1. I have never heard Indian people refer to their elders by their last name. The book references Indian aunties by calling them "Auntie Iyer" or "Auntie Mehta", but that's not very accurate to the diaspora. We always use their first name, and then "auntie" or "uncle". So instead of "Auntie Iyer", the more accurate way to reference her would be "Kamala Auntie".
2. The Iyers are a Tamil family so I have no idea why Madhuri's mom is calling anyone "beta", which is a Hindi term of endearment, when the Tamil "kanna" exists.
Moving onto the review, this book has three plots: There is Madhuri and Arjun's "fake"-dating saga, Madhuri's struggle to accept her Indian side and the culture, and Arjun and his mother's estrangement. All of them were good individually, but it was a little difficult for me to follow along when the plots intertwined.
First, the fake dating plot. Madhuri creates a dating "contract" of sorts (or I guess, an experimental design) called the Kismat Experiment with the intent of breaking up with Arjun at the end of the school year on her own terms. Some things worked for me throughout the span of their relationship: It had its ups and downs, there was parental involvement which was pretty funny, and I did appreciate Arjun asking for time when Madhuri confesses her love for him at last, which he had every right to do. What worked less for me was the somewhat lacking chemistry between Madhuri and Arjun. It's tough because when it comes to friends-to-lovers as a trope, you have to navigate that slippery slope between not seeing your friend a viable love interest, and then suddenly seeing him as a love interest. Writing that transition in a believable way is hard to get right. Here, the author sort of leaned in on the familiar past when it came why Madhuri and Arjun liked each other (for example, Arjun affectionately remembers Madhuri as the girl who stole his heart when she stole a jalebi from him when they were six) but I couldn't really find much to read about what exactly changed for Madhuri when it came to how she viewed Arjun now, as a teenager.
A more minor note, but I think there could have been a *little* more physicality to Madhuri and Arjun's relationship, while still being within the bounds of how far YA typically goes. I liked him helping her put on her jhumka, so maybe more moments like that? That would have been great.
Apart from the relationship plot, a significant portion of the book was devoted to Madhuri's struggles with internalized racism. It's a product of the external racism that she faces in school and in her town, and I have to say, it was difficult to read such blatant hate spewing out of teenagers in our generation's mouths in 2023. But maybe that's just me speaking from a place of privilege, because as Madhuri herself points out, it would definitely have been easier for her if she was raised in a place like "Edison, New Jersey or Fremont, California" instead of her small mostly-white California town. A lot of this plot is shown through Madhuri's struggles with having to quit Bharatanatyam after getting bullied for it, and how she starts to enjoy it again, and eventually performs.
Something I'm glad the author points out is that our culture has become more "trendy" in recent years (especially when it comes to wellness) and it would be accurate to say certain parts of the culture are fetishized (she suggests Arjun is a victim of this) and appropriated, even as the diaspora continue to face racism.
The final portion of the plot was regarding Arjun's family situation. His mother is a divorcée, and Ananya definitely spoke to the cultural taboo that divorce continues to be within the Indian community. I'm not gonna lie, this aspect of the book was very difficult for me to read, especially because of how easily his mother neglected him and left him alone for long periods of time (like, months on end). I'm glad Arjun put boundaries for himself by the end of the book.
Overall:
I think this is a solid book, and very much on the sweet end of YA. My biggest critique is that I really wanted to read more about Arjun and Madhuri's relationship, and sometimes it felt like other side-plots got in the way of that (like, for example, the hospitalization plot).
That being said, this is another step forward for South Asian rep in literature, specifically South Indian rep, so I'm glad I got to read this book.
Thank you to Inkyard Press and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my review.

Psychographics: Emira Blight
( @blighted-life )
Name Meaning: Emira
Amira (also spelled Emira or Ameera) is an Arabic female given name, meaning "princess," a Hindi name meaning “princess” or “high born girl,” (derived from Arabic), and a Hebrew female given name, meaning 'treetop' or 'saying.'
Star Sign: Aquarius
Aquarians are known for being assertive, analytical and creative, they are often innovative. They can also be highly independent, spending a lot of time in their own heads, and not always showing the emotions going on inside them.
Chinese Zodiac Sign: Snake
In Chinese traditional culture, dragons are described as the largest of serpents. Therefore, traditionally, Chinese people believe that snakes are ‘small dragons’. Snakes are held to be creatures that demonstrate an ambiguous character, which has great seductive power and mystery. According to Chinese mythology, “the Chinese Eve” — Nüwa, the mother of humankind, is described as having a human upper body and a snake’s lower body. She represents inspiration, vitality, and renaissance.
According to Chinese astrology, people born in a year of the Snake are usually calm observers with excellent intuition, as serene as snakes, and generally demonstrate intelligence, wisdom, and creativity.
Daemon: Common Kestrel
People with the kestrel may exhibit an observant nature combined with intelligence and skillful pattern recognition. Be it supernatural or simple genius, people in whom the kestrel totem is particularly strong often seem to know what the future holds.
The kestrel totem also manifests in the form of creativity and curiosity. People with the kestrel are always looking for new ways to express themselves and share the vivid worlds of their imaginations and dreams.
Birth Flowers: Snowdrop & Carnation
As one of the first flowers of spring, they often symbolise new beginnings, hope, rebirth and the ability to overcome challenges. This makes it a very positive flower to give someone who might be going through a chance and need some extra support and encouragement.
While the meaning of carnations can change depending on the colour, generally they symbolise devotion, loyalty and love. Based on your birth flowers, if you were born in January we imagine that you're someone who loves deeply and passionately. You’re probably an extremely loyal, protective friend to have around too and believe that family is everything.
Birthstone: Garnet
Legends say the garnet offers protection from nightmares and gives its wearer guidance in the night for those born in January. The red colour of the gemstone symbolizes faith, love and courage. Wearing garnet can reportedly protect children from nightmares and can promote overall self-worth.

history.
forever a quiet child, her parents would often boast that their third child rarely cried or caused a fuss, and growing up everyone knew that the best place to find her would be in the royal library, where she would normally be sitting with her nose in a book and many more surrounding her. parvati often drifted to the background while her siblings, both older and younger, took the spotlight but she had no qualms with it, preferring playing a secondary role to any adventures her siblings embarked upon than leading one of her own. however, she was constantly there to offer advice or reassuring words if any member of her family ever needed it.
parvati dedicated most of her years to her studies. she immensely enjoyed learning about whatever topic she could get her hands on, often spending hours upon hours in the library, even falling asleep there on occasion. the only lessons that pulled her away from her books were her courtesy lessons. a perfect lady, so proper and demure, her governess would say.
leaving home never interested her nor did aspirations of wedding someone who'd one day inherit a throne, despite a few proposals offered over the years. no, she was content remaining in the familiar halls of her home, acting as an advisor to her eldest sister, being a voice of logical reason in a room sometimes clouded with conflicting motives, ensuring that her sister's reign was secure and strong.
love did bless her in the form of a first love who stole the princess' heart. everyone at court would whisper that a proposal was imminent, but then the months stretched on. even parvati wondered about the noble's intentions and then suddenly there was another contender for her hand, one who made his intentions clear the moment they met. within the year the two were betrothed; parvati's happiness was apparent to all, and india celebrated the union as if months ago they hadn't been rooting for another.
yet not all the glittered was gold; a truth parvati discovered once the initial wedding bliss faded. her spouse's demeanor began changing; he began requesting that she speak with the empress about matters and political decisions that would benefit his family and their interests, believing that the empress would be swayed if parvati advocated for the ideas. she refused each time. the more she did, the colder he became - but only in private. in public, he played the role of a doting husband utterly in love with his wife. the realization that she'd been used from the start hit her hard, but parvati didn't say a word about the reality of her marriage to anyone. when asked, she too would play the role of an infatuated wife. no one could know the truth. she would not burden her family with what had happened, especially not rashmi.
when her husband was wounded during a hunt and eventually passed, parvati, despite publicly grieving, felt only relief. she was free at last. she could return home to lal qila and be surrounded by her family again. she could, hopefully, find happiness again. however, since returning home parvati couldn't help but feel like something was amiss, especially as her advice, which was normally welcomed, seemed to fall upon deaf ears more and more often.
headcanons.
the biggest bookworm. she's constantly looking for new books to bring to the royal library despite there still being hundreds already on the shelves that she hasn't read yet. finding her without a book is a rarity. even sometimes at gatherings she's hide a book in the corner of the room or out on a balcony so she can read a little when she needs breaks from socializing.
she does enjoy tinkering with possible new ideas and inventions. has played an active role in assisting with new advancements in the mughal empire be it as an advisor or leading a few small initiatives herself.
there is nothing more important to parvati than her family. even when she disagrees with them she does her best to support their decisions - while also planning for any possible consequences.
she has no desire to hold any power herself but does desire to help the empire in whatever way she can, which, along with her extremely logical mind, makes her an excellent advisor. she strives to look objectively at situations, especially when she's counseling her eldest sister, who parvati only wants to see succeed.
after what happened in her first marriage and realizing that her husband only courted her because he wanted to use her, parvati believes that no one will ever want to marry her for love but rather only want her wealth and title. it has made her very wary about any prospective betrothals or people trying to endear themselves to her in general.
that being said, she does genuinely want to find real love. she simply doesn't believe it's likely to happen given the reality of the world.
she really hates conflict of any sort, but especially conflict amongst her family members. despite being the middle child, parvati will often intervene in any squabbles between her siblings in hopes of helping resolve them.
she does have a pet elephant who she raised since it was a baby after its mother passed. she also has a female cat as a pet.

{tessa thompson, 33, cis female, she/her} We are so glad to see you safe, PRINCESS NOMENAOLITIANA "HENRIETTE" HERINIAINA RATSIFI of MADAGASCAR! It’s dangerous out in the world these days, but I hear that you are SCIENCE-FORWARD and COMPASSIONATE enough to handle it. Just don’t let your INSECURITIES bring you down! Stay on your guard, because with your secret being at risk for exposure, you wouldn’t want everyone to find out THEY HAVE A LOYAL FOLLOWING SHE CARES FOR AND FINANCIALLY SUPPORTS WHO WOULD FOLLOW HER INTO BATTLE IF SHE MAY SO REQUEST IT OF THEM, EVEN AGAINST THE RULERS.
Tumblr media
BASICS;
behind the name: malagasy names tend to be a minimum of 12 characters, and are often derived from physical or emotional attributes relating to the infant. later, names may be changed, added onto, or adjusted to fit the needs of the developed adult. nomena is gift, and olitiana is curly hair, making her given name nomenaolitiana - the gift with curly hair. as she matured, she gave herself an additional name, being in nature, or "heriniaina". the gift with curly hair in nature. it is also common for those in madagascar to adopt french nicknames, and so for her dealing with other nations, she tends to go by henriette because it sounds similarly to the way heriniaina is pronounced. see more info on malagasy naming conventions here.
nicknames:  due to the long nature of malagasy names, nicknames are very common, and different between the exact relationship! for example - those who knew henri as a child (such as family) may call her "nomy", "nomena", or "no-no", shortened versions of gift. others (friends, neighbors) may call her "oli" or "oliti" for curls. those she met later in life, could call her by "heri". but typically... you can call her henriette, or simply henri. you have full permission to come up with a nickname your muse may call her (these suggestions or otherwise!) if you feel it is fitting!
sexuality: bisexual.
relationship: lovelessly married to risa ratsifi, banished ex-royal of thailand. has all but closed the door on her heart when it comes to romance by now, much to her dismay.
date of birth: july 20th
zodiac sign:  cancer
moral alignment: neutral good
hobbies: very big on knowledge and learning, gardening and agriculture, reading, chemistry, astrology, biology, and invention making... she also loves nature walks, swimming, baking/cooking, getting her hands dirty (non-violently), and has grown an interest in themes of divination and magic and spirituality, is searching for her own belief set currently. enjoys sleeping under the stars, bird watching, sewing, and understanding new concepts.
dislikes: rejection, happy married couples, war, general themes of suffering, being confined, small spaces, shoes.
languages spoken: malagasy and french best, but can do passing english, thai, and some other african dialects. is trying to learn hindi.
politics/loyalty: does not tend to be political, is more humanitarian based, but will do what is needed for her family as long as it does not come at too great a cost to her moral code.
inspirations:
DETAILS;
her earliest memories are nothing too fond - she remembers cold nights, helpful strangers, and the sensation of hunger. the fate of her family remains unknown, but when she was six years old, henriette was rescued by staff to the ratsifi family, before they ever came to be in power. the estate owners saw a treasure in the wild curly headed girl, and chose to raise her as their own, perhaps a soft spot growing for her from the mere month age gap between one of their other daughters.
it was better as a lady to an estate like that of the ratsifi clan, practically a palace from the start compared to where henri had come from, despite her rough beginning. for a time, she was shy and reserved, prone to watch and unwilling to accept help, having trouble to fully adjust to a life of luxury compared to the world she'd known of need before. there were many times she would awaken early to make her own bed, light her own fire, and prepare her own breakfast in attempt to beat the servants to it.
there was always a level of guilt associated to taking the luxury offered; but as the years went on, and she grew more comfortable in her place in the family, bonding with her siblings, until she, too, felt she belonged. even so - there were often times that the girl would go missing for long stretches of time, off to the tribal villages or scattered towns that the estate governed. henri knew what it was like to be in need, to be left wanting, to feel fear for where tomorrow would bring you, and she wanted to give back some of her found fortune, working to learn medicine and cooking and even themes of invention to improve the quality of life for everyone she could reach.
henriette did her part in uniting madagascar into one cohesive unit, and even was able to put her scientific mind to work in the creation of unique weapons and supply systems to fully liberate from power's reign. when madagascar rose to royalty, henri found pride in her family - but took this adjustment difficultly, too.
from a lady of wealth and privilege to a castle built, and the staff tripled, and suddenly - every door felt open. she was terrified to make a mistake, and when an opportunity came to strengthen the family defenses against their foes through a marriage, she did not hesitate to agree.
time was not slow to reveal that love was not in the cards for henriette and her new wife - and while things were tough in the beginning as she reconciled with her disappointment, the pair managed to find some way of cooperating enough that their union was not hostile, nor unfriendly. in fact, henriette has come to be quite fond of her wife, even if she faces jealousy for those who have found love. perhaps her need to be a helping a hand, to save everyone, had a higher price than the princess realized.
not finding what her heart needed in her union, henri turned to the citizens of madagascar, and spent more time in the villages as she assisted in building them up, growing her skills, and creating agricultural systems to quicken the process, and lessen the work load for others. it felt more comfortable than home, after all, and thanks to her long-standing dedication and wide-open heart, many communities around the palace came to see her as their sovereign, moreso than the family she came from. child of the wild - they whispered, and would revere her almost as a saint, much to henriette's discomfort.
now she has come to india with her family, though leaving home has placed a hole in her heart for all she's left behind, it has inspired her to learn more, grow more, and become her full potential and aid in this conflict the best she can. very rarely has she left madagascar - so this is mostly new to the princess, and she is very curious to see all that she can, and protect her loved ones from harm.
