Adam Warlock x Star Lord’s Sister/Reader
Summary: Adam and reader have a baby.
//I started working on one where the reader actually gave birth but put that on hold because I wasn’t sure if I should finish it. I may make this a series because I kinda want to explore dad!Adam more and uncle!Peter and the rest of a the Guardians as aunts and uncles. If people are interested. Anyway hope you guys enjoy! (next time I think I will do present POV and not past, but whatever lol!) EDIT: This is now a series. Here is a LINK to the master-post with links to all of the one shots.
                                             Aydith
You and your older brother, Peter, had practically grown up with Yondu and the Ravengers. Seen things, some being terrible at that. Found a new family with the Guardians. Experienced battles. War. The destruction of whole societies. Planets. But any of those old fears were nothing compared to what you were experiencing now. The heavy, nervous thumps in your heart as you stared down at the tiny being in your arms. Thumps that were equally as terrifying as this strange new feeling of overwhelming, unbridled love.
Her skin was a brilliant shade of gold--something she had inherited from her father. What little hair she had was more so copper, but that could easily change with time. Even through her golden skin, the rosiness of her cheeks blushed like petals. And her eyes…for the past nine months you had been anticipating they would be his. But the very first time she opened them, they were the most intense shade of_____. Just like yours. She was beautiful. Far, far beyond that. She was yours. Both of yours.
“She’s so small.” Adam’s voice cut through the silence. “Is that…is she okay?”
You glanced over at him from where he sat on the edge of your bed. Everything had been a blur up until this moment. The birth had not been an easy one. A lot had happened. It was certainly unexpected. And the chance that something horrible could have come from it all was a fate no one wanted to think about. But you were safe, and more importantly she was, so in the end that was all that mattered.
“Yeah.” You assured him, watching intently as he gingerly touched one of her clenched fists. “She’s perfect, isn’t she?”
“More than anything in the entire realm of galaxies.” Adam agreed with a small smile, clearly mesmerized. “And she’s ours.”
“Yeah.” You breathed, looking at her. “She is.” Silence fell between you for a brief moment before a thought suddenly came to your mind. “Do you want to hold her?”
Adam blinked, looking at you in almost comical surprise. “I can hold her?”
It takes everything within you to keep from bursting into a fit of laughter. Being exhausted and sore helped with that. “Of course, she is your kid after all.”
“What if I…” He hesitated, glancing from you to the baby. “What if something…”
“You won’t hurt her.” You promised, wincing a little as you lean forward to place her in his arms. “They aren’t as delicate as they look. Or, at least someone told me that…”
Adam took her gently, going rigid when she let a little noise. Slowly, you watch as his posture relaxes. The way he gazed at her, watching with such intent and adoration. You never thought you could love him more until now. You couldn’t help but question what you had done to deserve them both.
“I…I thought I was going to lose you, Y/N.” Adam said quietly, finally meeting your stare once more. “Back on the ship. I really thought…” And the way his eyes have begun to water causes a swell of emotion to find you. “All of us really, and if something had…your brother would’ve never forgiven me.”
“Hey, I’m okay.” You said softly. “Both of us are.” You paused, before adding. “It’s going to take a hell of a lot more to get rid of me. We Quills are pretty resilient.”
Adam chuckled softly, stroking the top of the infant’s hand. “As I have witnessed.”
“You know, she kinda needs a name.” You reached over, lightly brushing your fingertips against the top of her head. “Any suggestions?”
He hummed thoughtfully, adjusting your daughter in his arms. “My mother’s name was Ayesha.” Adam began to talk faster as if he thought you’d interject. You wouldn’t. “I know she committed horrible acts and was not the greatest of all beings, but…she was wonderful to me and I loved her. I…can understand if you are against it, however.”
“It’s a pretty name.” You told him, giving him a smile. “My mother’s name was Meredith. I didn’t get to know her, she died when I was really young. But Peter talks about her, a lot more than he used to.”
“Meredith…” He mused, studying the baby’s face. “That is also a nice name.”
You took a moment to consider the two. One could easily be the first and the second a middle. The problem would be, in that case, which one you would call her. Suddenly an idea comes to mind, one that you hope didn’t sound too ridiculous.
“What about Aydith?”
Adam looked at you with a brow raised. “Aydith?”
“A combination of the two.” You explained, shrugging your shoulders. “We could honor them both…It doesn’t sound too funny does it?”
You watched as he glanced down at the baby, remaining silent for a moment. “Aydith…” He said slowly, as if testing out the name. “I like it. Aydith is a good name.”
You smiled softly, peering down into her little face as Adam leaned over.
“Hello, Aydith.” You whispered gently. “Welcome to the universe.”

Adam Warlock x Star Lord!Sister Reader

Word Count: 3,878

                                                     Protostar
Pregnant. A word that had seemed so foreign to you up until now. An aspect you hadn’t even begun to fathom would happen to you. And yet here you were, sitting far off from the hustle and bustle of Knowhere’s square trying to clear your mind. Trying to think through haze and churning from your own stomach as you processed it all. Wondering how you would announce it to Adam. So lost in your head you didn’t even notice when Kraglin took a seat beside you.
“Y/N? Are you okay?”
Kraglin had been like an older brother to both you and Peter. Though, your relationship was a little better at the time because, growing up, he felt as if he needed to compete with the boy from Terra for Yondu’s approval. That had changed though. Now the three of you were equally close. You looked over to him, not too sure what to say. In all honesty, he was the last person you’d imagined to break the news to first.
“I don’t know.” You responded softly with a shrug. “I haven’t decided, I guess.”
“What’s wrong?” Kraglin asked, his tone slightly concerned. “Did something happen? Is it Adam?” He paused, his expression more serious than you’re used to. “Did he do something?”
He did, but technically so did you. You exhaled, wondering why you didn’t stay cooped up in the confinement of your room. That way you could’ve at least hid from it all a little longer. Pretend that everything was as it should be. You wished Adam was here, he had a way of making you feel better. Then again, maybe it was better that he wasn’t.
“Y/N?” Kraglin’s voice snapped you back into reality. You turned and looked at him as he placed a hand on your knee. “Uh, you want me to get Pete?”
“NO!” The word came out much sharper than you meant it to causing Kraglin to visibly flinch. “Sorry, I mean, no…that’s okay.”
The last thing you needed was your brother. Peter was overprotective, he had always been. Even though you two were adults, he was still annoying when it came to you and relationships. When you and Adam first got together, he made it clear to you that he wasn’t exactly supportive of it all. Sure, the guy had saved him from literally turning into a human icicle in space, but he was still wary from the Rocket fiasco. That was something that you knew would take a long time to repair. At this point you were lucky he was tolerating it all and not getting on your case. If he knew you were expecting…well, you didn’t know how he’d take the news.
“Can I trust you, Kraglin?” You asked, knowing full well there was no turning back after saying something like that. “Swear on Yondu you won’t say anything? Especially to Peter?”
Kraglin looked at you with such uncertainty it was almost comical. Almost. “Yeah…” He replied with hesitation. “Cross a Ravanger’s heart.”
You nodded, looking at the ground. “I’m pregnant.”
“...Oh.” He said after a moment, shifting awkwardly where he sat. “...Is it Adam’s?” You threw him a dark look that caused him to hold up his hands defensively. “I’m sorry! It’s just well…congratulations? I mean, this is good, right?”
You let out a loud groan and covered your face. “I don’t know!” The words came out muffled from behind your hands. “You’re the only one who knows.”
“I’m honored! Thanks!”
“Only because you showed up here.” You didn’t mean to sound so harsh. Kraglin didn’t deserve it. “I’m sorry, Kraglin, I’m…I’m not trying to take this out on you. Maybe it’s the stupid hormones, I don’t know. I found out today and I’m not processing it well, I guess.”
“Is there anything I can do to help?” He offered, and you felt his hand rest on your shoulder. “I don’t know nothing about having babies, but if there is something you like, maybe a glass of water, or a blanket? Wait, that may be for shock…”
For the first time that day, you actually smiled. Sometimes you couldn’t help but wonder what Kraglin might’ve become if he hadn’t ever joined the Ravangers. You leaned forward and pulled him into a tight hug.
“Just your support is nice.” You told him, inhaling deeply. “Thanks.”
“Well sure, we may be Guardians now, but we'll always be Ravangers at heart.” Kraglin grinned at you when you pulled back. “And Ravangers take care of our own. Well, except when we don’t, but you know what I mean. We’re family. All of us here. I guess what I’m tryin’ to get at is we’ve got your back. Adam’s a great guy, I mean, he did almost wreck all of Knowhere--”
“Kraglin.”
“Yeah, yeah, what’s in the past, is in the past. He turned out to be a great guy, right? Saved Pete, helped fix up a mess, managed to even join the Guardians. That’s somethin’, right?” He took a deep breath. “I don’t need to be able to read minds or do that emotion thingy that Mantis does to know Adam loves you. Like a whole lot.”
“I know he does.” Your smile was soft. “It’s more than mutual.”
“So it’s gonna be alright, okay? When have I ever lied to you?” Kraglin asked with a grin.
You gave him a look. There were not enough fingers on each hand for you to count the number of times both he and your brother had pulled some stunt on you. All relatively harmless, but you had learned not to be so gullible since.
“I need to go find Adam.” You told him, dusting off what little dirt had gotten on your pants. “He’s probably worried. Last thing I need for him is to go hunt Peter down. I’m still trying to figure out how I’m going to approach that one.”
“No matter what, Pete’ll come around. He always does.” Kraglin tried to assure you. “He got used to you and Adam. This is just another thing added on.” A big thing.
It was becoming apparent that, for the time being, you needed to focus on one thing--telling Adam. The rest you could try to get yourself to stop worrying about until later. You pulled Kraglin one last time for a quick squeeze.
“Thank you, Kraglin. For everything.”
“That’s what family’s for.” He said with a smile. “Even if we ain’t exactly a normal bunch.”
                                                         XXX
The nausea you felt the moment you stepped over the threshold and into your room was not from the baby. Part of you wanted nothing more than to just turn back and find a new spot to hide in, somewhere where no one could find you. But Blurp, Adam’s beloved furry F’saki, immediately bounded over and pounced excitedly at your legs.
“Hey, buddy.” You said, giving the animal a half smile as you reached down to scratch it behind one of its ears. “It’s good to see you too.”
“Y/N!”
Adam came bounding in with a mixed look of concern and relief at your arrival. You straightened up as he walked over to you, his hands immediately reaching and cupping your face as he studied you carefully. You felt as if you were a piece of fruit being checked for bruises by a potential customer.
“Are you alright? I was worried. You weren’t here when I returned and I kept waiting, but you didn’t leave a note--and I know that you can take care of yourself, as you’ve said before--”
“Adam.” You said, cutting him off. “I’m fine.”
He beamed at your response and looked down at Blurp. “See, I told you everything was fine. No need to get anyone else involved or form a search party.” The creature gurgled and nudged your leg.
“But, Adam, we do need to talk…” His expression changed to one of confusion as you took a step back. “It’s important.”
“Oh?” He responded, following you as you took a seat on the edge of your bed. “What do you want to talk about? Should I be worried?” And his laugh was nervous--making your own anxiety that much worse.
“I don’t know.” Probably not the best answer to give him. “I mean…I don’t know how you will feel about this.”
Gods, if you could have any power in all the universes, invisibility would’ve been great. You couldn’t even bring yourself to look at Adam as you feel his hand take yours. Tears started to well up in your eyes and suddenly you found yourself flooded with emotions. Damn hormones.
“Y/N, my love, what’s the matter? Don’t cry! Tell me what I must do!” Adam was cupping your face once more, searching your eyes for answers. “Have I done something wrong? If I have, please tell me and I will make amends. Please, say something, you’re scaring me.”
You shook your head and hiccuped. “You didn’t…you didn’t do anything wrong. I’m…” The deep breath you took was shaky, and you could only hope you didn’t look as gross as you sounded. “Adam, I’m pregnant.”
The silence that blanketed the room made you want to crawl over into a corner and die. This was it. Adam was going to get up and leave you and everything would fall apart. The Guardians would banish you from the team. From your family. Knowhere was exile you. You would have no one and nothing and Thanos might as well have snapped you for good.
“I’m going to be a father?”
The words snapped you back into reality. Through tears, you looked and saw Adam gazing at you with such glee and adoration it sort of caught you by surprise. You sniffed, wiping your face with your sleeve--nevermind how unattractive it must’ve looked, and nodded.
“Yeah.” You answered him softly. “You’re going to be a dad.”
He was quiet for a moment. “I never had a father.”
The corners of your mouth twitched into a small smile at his statement. “...I don’t remember my mom.”
“...Do you think I could be a good father?” Adam asked slowly, his gaze burning into yours. He sounded hopeful.
“Yeah.” You said with a smile. “I know you’d be a wonderful dad. There is not a doubt in my mind that says otherwise.” There was hesitation in your voice as you asked the next question. “Do you think I’d be a good mom?”
Adam chuckled warmly. “You already are to good, old Blurp right here.” Blurp trotted over and jumped into your lap, licking excitedly at your face. “See? Even he approves, and he is very particular too.”
“I can see that.” You laughed, carefully moving the dog onto the mattress. Sighing, you gazed into Adam’s eyes, getting lost in their golden pools. “Are you happy then? Are you…okay with this?”
Adam said nothing as he leaned forward and kissed you. You allowed your arms to wind around his neck as one of his arms hooked around your waist and pulled you close. Nothing sounded better than staying in that moment for all eternity. The warmth and gentleness of it all. You almost had to fight the urge to pull him back in when he stopped.
“I have never been more certain of something in my entire life.” Adam said with so much pride your heart swelled. “And I will love this child as I do you, Y/N. You are--well, now it is two of you I suppose, the most important things in my eternal life. I will do better than my best to be the very best! I swear it.”
You chuckled, sniffing as you beamed back at him. “That was quite the speech.”
“Was it what you wanted?” Adam inquired, wiping away at a stray tear that’d begun to slide down your cheek. “Are you okay? Perhaps I should’ve asked that first.”
Even though it would be months until you felt anything, you rested your hand on your stomach. You began to imagine the sensation, what little movements, kicks, flutters your baby would give you. Your baby. Adam’s baby. Gods, it sounded so surreal and yet, so right.
“Yeah.” You inhaled, your gaze deep as it met Adam’s. “I’ve never felt happier.”
                                                           XXX
“We need to tell them.”
Adam’s voice was soft as his hand gently rubbed your back from where he knelt beside you on the floor. Your head hung over the toilet as you tried to fight back the wave of nausea that stirred in your stomach. Morning sickness, more like ‘all day sickness’. It had been a week since you had broken the news to Adam--and technically Kraglin--about the baby. From the get go, he had wanted to tell the others but you had sworn him to secrecy. You still were avoiding sharing the unexpected pregnancy announcement with your brother. But now, with how violently ill your body had decided to start becoming, you weren’t really left with any options.
“Maybe we can just wait until they’re born.” You mumbled weakly, the bitter taste of bile coating the inside of your mouth. “Spring it on them then.”
“I don’t think that would be the best idea--or even possible.” Adam responded, frowning softly when you waved away at the glass of water he tried to coax in your hand. “They’re starting to worry about how sick you’ve been. And you already told Kraglin.”
“That wasn’t in my original plans.” You answered somewhat defensively. “Besides, there’s a big difference between him and Peter knowing. The others I’m not as worried about. I’m his little sister, but he forgets I’m not so little anymore. Like a lot.” Your stomach gurgled and you heaved a big sigh. “I can take care of my damn self.”
“I know.” And the palm of his hand began to knead between your shoulder blades. “But the sooner we get it over with, the better you will feel about it. And you aren’t alone in this. I’m right with you. We’ll tell them together and it will go over well, I promise.”
                                                    XXX
The last time you saw a look like the one Peter was giving you now was when you accidentally dropped his Walkman as a kid and it fell between the grates of Yondu’s ship. How he managed to get it back out before it slipped to its eternal demise, you were unsure--or cared. But this look was not about any sort of music box. Oh no, this was something much greater.
“...You’re pregnant?” Peter asked slowly, eyes flashing from you to Adam. “As in having a baby? Together?”
“Yes, I am.” Before anyone could speak up, you quickly added. “And we’re happy too. Really happy.” Adam’s arm found its way around your waist offering a sense of comfort that you needed. “And since we’re family, we were hoping that maybe you all would feel the same way.”
The silence was killing you. The way they were all watching, Peter especially, you almost wanted to curl up into a ball and beg Adam to fly you back to your room. Try again on another day. Suddenly, a pair of arms wrapped around, followed by a squeal.
“I am VERY happy for you!” Mantis gushed, beaming at you. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Adam nervously watching, probably concerned with how tight she was hugging you. “Oh this is such good news!”
Drax broke into one of his deep fits of laughter. “Quill! That means your sister had sex!” Of all the anti-social things he could’ve said, he had to go with that one. How wonderfully mortifying. “But I am also happy for you!”
One of Groot’s branches reached out and touched your stomach. “I am Groot.” Or, as you had grown to understand. “I like babies.”
Nebula gave you a rare smile from where she stood beside Rocket. She had come so far since you first met her those many years back. Gone from enemy to a true member of the Guardians. The late Gamora, your Gamora, would’ve been proud to see what she had become.
“Congratulations,” Nebula said with a nod.
“I agree with the others!” The canine yipped, her tail wildly wagging when she trotted over to you. “I will protect the baby like a good dog!” She licked your hand leaving you secretly grateful she didn’t try to jump up. “This is good news!”
Rocket, who had been at Peter’s side, made his way over. “Yeah, yeah, what they all said.” He said with a half smile, arms folded. “Guess we better get one of those sign things to hang on the ship that says Baby On Board or something.”
“So no one else sees a problem with this?!”
Peter’s voice popped you out of that blissful bubble you had found yourself in. Everyone was looking at him now, the good mood immediately snuffed out. Your stomach began to churn, only this time, it wasn’t from the pregnancy symptoms.
“We just got our team back together and everything was fine! Now you had to go along and get pregnant!” He jabbed a finger in your direction. “I dunno, did you not consider how this might impact the rest of us?!”
Where the hell was this coming from? “You know, just a ‘Wow, congratulations, Y/N’ would have easily sufficed!” You were fuming. Of course you knew he would be a dick when you needed him most. “This was a surprise to us! I’m sorry I didn’t take you into consideration!”
“You know you can’t come on any missions, right, Y/N?” His eyes then landed on Adam, his new target. “You know she is basically out of commission. She’s a risk! Now we’re down a teammate!”
“Peter, leave him alone!” You snapped, moving protectively in front of Adam. “He didn’t do anything wrong.”
“Oh, really, he didn’t now?” Shit, you led him right into that. “Did you forget that whole thing when Goldilocks over there busted through our home and almost killed Rocket, not to mention trying to take the rest of us out with him?!”
“Everyone deserves a second chance, Pete.” Rocket cut in with a frown. “You’ve said it yourself before, and it’s clear that Adam has. I’ve forgiven him, why haven’t you?”
You weren’t sure if Rocket’s words struck a chord with Peter or not. In reality, you really could’ve cared less at that point. Tears of frustration and sadness had already begun to well up in your eyes, you didn’t want to give him the courtesy of seeing.
“Thanks, everyone.” You said, stare fixed on the ground. “Your support means a lot.”
Adam’s hand caught your wrist as you started walking away from the group. “Y/N?”
“I’m fine.” You told him, pulling your hand out of his grasp. “I just need some space. I’ll meet you back in the room. I love you.” And you made sure that you said the last part loud enough for Peter to hear.
                                                   XXX
You had practically built yourself a nest out of pillows and blankets on the top of your bed. Adam’s pillow was stained with your tears because you had chosen it to be the one you cried into. He smelled nice. Honestly, your fight with Peter could’ve gone a hell of a lot worse. You could think of several things you might’ve spat out at him that would’ve hit him hard and good. There was enough that you didn’t need to add onto.
Suddenly, you heard a knock on your bedroom door--which was odd considering Adam always chose to waltz in without first announcing himself. Whatever, it had been a weird day as it was. Who were you to dictate how your partner came and went?
“Adam, the door isn’t locked. Just come in.”
But the person who opened the door wasn’t Adam. Peter. You watched quietly as your brother made his way over to your bed, taking a seat on the edge of the mattress. After the fallout, why exactly had he decided to show up? Was he going to give you another earful?
“Before mom died, she made me promise that I would always protect you. Even before that, I felt like I always needed to because it was just the three of us. Well, four if you wanted to include grandpa, but three.”
You chose not to respond, deciding to see where he was going with this.
“You may be grown, Y/N, but you will always be my little sister.” Peter said, his voice no longer harsh as it had been. “But that isn’t an excuse to lash out when you get into a relationship or, well, get pregnant. You’re tough. Quills have to be. And if you love Adam and this is what you want, you have my full support.” From his spot, he smiled at you. “Besides, I think I’d make a pretty damn good uncle.”
Finally, you looked up to meet his gaze. “That was a dick move you pulled back there.”
Peter sighed. “I know, I’m really sorry about that.”
“And you owe Adam an apology for trying to make him feel like shit.” He watched you, probably trying to figure out your next words. Inhaling, you continued on. “But I forgive you. I know you mean well, but I can take care of myself. Adam is a really great guy and he has changed. I really want you two to get along, especially with this baby coming. I need my big brother. I need you.”
“Y/N, you couldn’t get rid of me even if you tried.” He replied, lightly throwing one of your pillows in your direction. You dodged it with a smile. “Call it a talent.”
You snorted, shaking your head as you beamed the pillow straight back. “You’re such a dork.” The imense amount of relief you felt now was so welcoming. “This baby will be lucky to have you as an uncle. I wish Yondu was here.” Though, you weren’t quite sure how your adoptive father of sorts would feel about a baby. “...I wish mom was too.”
Peter moved and pulled you into a hug--one that you didn’t realize you needed so badly. “Me too.” He admitted with a sigh. “She’d be so excited. She was the best mom, and I know she’d make an even better grandma. And I have no doubt in my mind that you’ll be just as great at it as she was.”
You gave Peter a watery smile, only this time your tears were happy. “You think so?”
He chuckled. “When have I ever lied to you?” And you couldn’t help but think back to Kraglin at that.
You rested your hand on your stomach, something you had a gut feeling would become more natural as time went on. Your mind wandered to the little life inside of you. What would they look like? Adam? You? Growing something inside of you that was the product of your shared love. Even though you had only known about this baby for such a short amount of time, they were already so adored. A smile crossed your face at it all. The new chapter in your life, his life, everyone’s that had only just begun.

Reaching for the Stars
Adam Warlock x Star Lord!Sister Reader
Prompt:  When your infant daughter starts to exhibit signs of inheriting her father’s powers, you and Adam find yourselves in quite a predicament. Not to mention when your brother, Peter, finds himself caught up in it.
Word Count: 1,509
A/N: So I decided to write another one shot involving the reader and Adam Warlock having a child together. It is the same baby mentioned in my first one shot Aydith. The baby’s name is a combination of Meredith Quill and Ayesha (Adam’s mother). Also I couldn’t decide if the reader is married to Adam or dating, so I just said “partner”. You can decide! I might do another part to this one but I am not sure. I am open to requests! I hope you enjoy!
                                 Reaching for the Stars
“Look, I’m no baby expert, but I’m pretty sure this isn’t exactly normal.”
Your heart was pounding too hard to even glare at your brother for his comment as the two of you stared up at the ceiling. You had only turned your head for a minute. A minute! And now your baby had decided that she no longer liked the ground and instead preferred floating several feet in the air where you couldn’t reach her. Thank god you were at least inside!
“Peter, do something!” You cried out, finally looking over at your brother in desperation. Oh, you felt sick. And faint. Christ, where the hell was Adam?! “Help me get her down!”
“What am I supposed to do?!” He gestured, obviously beginning to panic as well. “I’m not Groot! I can’t just extend my arms and grab her!” Peter exhaled and began to look around. “Maybe there is something we can use in here, like a broom?”
Your jaw dropped. “You want to hit my baby with a broom?!”
Peter threw his arms up in the air in frustration. “How the HELL did you come to that conclusion?! Why in all the universes would you assume I’d want to smack my niece out of the air?!”
“I don’t know?!” And your panicking was slowly growing into hysteria. You were just getting accustomed to parenting and now your perfect baby had decided to show off her celestial talents. Dammit, where was Adam?! “Aydith, it’s okay! Mommy is right here! Don’t move!”
Unlike you and her uncle, the infant seemed as if she hadn’t a care in the world. She floated in one place, occasional flipping and offering you a two tooth smile. Her (your eye color) sparkled and she giggled down at the two of you, completely unaware of the terror she was causing you both.
“Y/N?”
Both you and Peter turned to see Adam standing in the doorway. If it hadn’t been for the severity of the situation, the way his expression of confusion switched to one of bewilderment upon seeing his child in the air would’ve been comical. You didn’t have time to enjoy the feeling of relief as you hurried over to his side.
“Our baby is flying!” You pointed as if he couldn’t clearly see the situation before him.
“I didn’t know she could do that.” He replied so innocently. Damn, you loved him so much but sometimes…
“Nor did I!” You sighed deeply, trying to regain some form of composure after losing it with Peter. “But apparently she can and now she is up there and I cannot get her down!”
“Y/N wasn’t open to any of my ideas--” Peter began to argue before you cut him off.
“Because you wanted to knock Aydith out of the air with a broom!” You hissed.
“I was going to try to hook the handle on her overalls and pull her down!” He shot back. “But you didn’t even let me finish my plan!”
You really wanted to point out Peter’s interesting history when it came to planning, but decided against it. Instead, you watched as your daughter peered down at Adam, her chubby, little arms reached out towards him. Effortlessly, your partner rose into the air and gingerly took a hold of her. The moment his feet touched the ground, the wave of relief that hit you almost brought you to your knees.
“Oh, Aydith!” At once, you scooped her from Adam’s embrace and hugged her close. “Don’t you ever do that to me again, okay?!” It was a battle to hold back tears as you held her close.
“So the kid can fly now.” Peter said as he looked at Adam. “And she isn’t even one yet. I’m gonna go out on a limb here and assume you are just as clueless as the rest of us of what else Aydith might be capable of?”
You felt Adam’s hand rest on the small of your back. Even though his eyes weren’t fixed on you, you knew he was trying to offer some comfort. You moved closer, resting your head against him as Aydith fiddled with the collar of your shirt.
“No, I’m sorry.” His eyes met yours, the look on his face hard to read. “Until I learned Y/N was pregnant, I didn’t even think it was possible for us to reproduce.”
Your daughter let out a whine, one that you had come to recognize as her needing a nap. Peter made a goofy face, trying to make her smile. He’d always been so good with her--not that you had ever doubted he wouldn’t be. Aydith looked back at him, one cheek pressed against your chest. She was tired--and if you were quite frank, so were you.
“We need to talk with the others.” Peter stated, looking from you to Adam. “Maybe come up with some sort of game plan to keep Aydith grounded until we fully understand what she is able to do.”
Your eyes flickered down to your daughter who appeared to have finally drifted off. She was so small. So little. How could someone like that do something so extraordinary, yet so terrifying at such a young age? You didn’t fear the possibilities of what she would be like if she had inherited some of her father’s powers. No. No, you worried what would happen if she did. What dangers she would face. That’s what scared you.
“Okay.” You nodded, shifting her in your arms. You knew the other Guardians would literally drop anything any of them were doing and come to your aid if you asked. That’s what families did after all. There was an old saying you remembered that said it took a village to raise a child--in this case, that village was turning out to be Knowhere. “Let’s do it.”
                                                      XXX
Silence followed you as you and Adam walked to Aydith’s room. Peter was gone and a part of you felt guilty of not apologizing after he left. You made a mental note to do so the next time you saw him. When you reached her crib, you cautiously set her down, doing your best not to wake her. Thankfully you were successful.
“I’m so sorry, Y/N.” The sound of Adam’s voice pulled you back to reality. “I never even fathomed the idea of Aydith having my abilities. If I had known, or even considered it for that matter…” He shook his head, guilt heavy in his tone as if he blamed himself. “If there hadn’t been a roof…”
The last thing you wanted was for him to feel bad. Adam’s powers, his gifts, they were beautiful. You didn’t dare want him to think otherwise. And certainly you didn’t want him to think that he’d cursed your daughter. Reaching out, you take a hold of his hand, interlocking your fingers. Aydith was safe. That was what was important. She was in her crib before the both of you passed out. Completely and utterly lost to the world.
“You have absolutely nothing to apologize for.” You assured him, reaching up with your other hand to turn his face towards your. “Aydith is a part of you, just as she is me. And I suppose one of those parts of you involves her having some sort of special abilities.” You offered him a small smile. “Even if witnessing my child levitate in the air wasn’t what I had initially ever anticipated her doing.”
Adam squeezed your hand. “No, I cannot say I pictured her doing so either.”
You both watched her quietly, his thumb gently stroking your hand. You were still on edge, though your anxiety had lessened quite a bit since Aydith had been deemed safe. Exhaling, you catch Adam’s gaze in your own.
“We’ve got this.” And you were a little surprised how sure you sounded. “At least, we can’t afford not to be, right? After everything we’ve been through as Guardians, I think we can manage this new milestone…Or whatever you want to call this new development.”
The corners of Adam’s mouth twitch slightly upwards at your words. “Yes, I agree with you. We haven’t let anything stop us yet.”
He dropped your hand and wound his arm around you to pull you into a kiss. You let your eyes close for a moment, melting in his embrace. It was moments like this that you cherished between the two of you. Especially after Aydith had been born and your intimate times had shifted some depending on her needs. Parenthood had surely become a whirlwind--one that you had welcomed with wide, open arms.
“I love you.” You murmured softly, pulling back just enough so that your eyes met. “Both of you.”
“And I you.” Adam replied, resting his forehead against yours. “In every universe and every dimension.” He turned away for just a second to peer over at your daughter before looking back. “We’ve got this, don’t we?”
This time, the nod you gave him felt much more confident. “Yeah,” you agreed. “We do.”

The Lion Sleeps Tonight
Adam Warlock x Star Lord!Sister Reader
Prompt: All babies get sick. You knew that. And yet, when yours caught a cold, it was the worst feeling in the world. If it wasn’t for Adam, you’d really be a mess. Just another bump in the road of parenthood--but also another sign of how great of a father he truly was.
Word Count: 1,613
A/N: Hello, hello! Another one shot installment to my Adam Warlock x Star Lord!Sister Reader baby series! Here is the LINK to the master-list of all of the one shots! Requests are open! To those who have sent some in, I promise I will get to them! I also plan to do more with Aydith being different ages besides a baby so please send some suggestions in if you’d like! Thank you guys so much for your support! Here we go! -Jen
                                   The Lion Sleeps Tonight
It was just a cold. A simple runny nose accompanied by the occasional cough and low grade fever. Something you had personal experience with in your (age) years of life. It was nothing. A mere inconvenience. But now, sickness played a different role since you became a parent--or, rather when your child fell ill. The feeling of helplessness brought on by not being able to take it away at once and give them comfort. It was just a cold, but it was your baby’s. That was one of the many awful feelings you felt.
You watched with exhaustion as Adam paced around the room, lightly bouncing Aydith in his arms. She had been crying for what felt like an eternity now. It didn’t help that the damn cold hit right around when she had begun to really teeth. You were at a loss of what to do. Mantis had offered to put her asleep, but you didn’t want her to use any powers on your daughter. Not when she was so little. Not when you didn’t know how it could impact her. If you hadn’t brought her to Earth to visit your grandfather last weekend, this wouldn’t have happened. How were you supposed to know the bug was going around?
“This is all my fault.” You exhaled, shaking your head. Gods, you just wanted to cry with her. “I exposed our baby and now she’s infected. I’m a horrible mother.”
Adam made his way over to you, Aydith’s cries only amplifying. At this point, you were quite sure that all of Knowhere had been awakened by them. How such a little thing could be so loud was a question you didn’t have an answer to. Just like how you didn’t have an answer as to how to ease your daughter’s distress.
“This is no fault of yours, Y/N. And it is impossible for you to even be remotely considered a below average parent. Please don’t ever think like that.” He tried to assure you, his tone sympathetic. “I’ve done a great deal of reading and it is quite common for human infants to contract it. Our child is half Sovereign, I am more than certain that being so lessens the chances of this developing into anything serious.”
He had done research. A lot of it. As soon as Aydith let out her first cough, Adam had gone into protective parent mode and scoured through the entirety of what felt like every medical file in the galactic internet in search of answers. Meanwhile, you had reluctantly allowed Nebula to run some scans knowing full well that your baby was more than safe. That the Luphomoid would never do something that would put her in harm’s way. Still you worried, even after your partner was relatively satisfied with what he found.
“She sounds so miserable, and it’s like nothing I do makes any difference.” You looked over at Adam as he took a seat beside you. “I hate this. I hate this more than any of those assholes we’ve ever had to fight--and I’m not trying to be dramatic, but this is my baby and she is upset and nothing I try helps! I…” You inhaled deeply, trying to reel yourself back in. “When I first met you, I didn’t think it was possible to fall so deeply in love again--and even though this is a different kind of love, I just feel like I’m failing.”
Adam’s cheek rested against the baby’s as he maneuvered her so he had a free arm to put around you. “Your feelings are more than valid, my love. I wish I could ease your stress equally as much as I wish for our daughter’s recovery.” He leaned over and pressed a kiss to your temple. “You need your rest. I can tell you are very tired. Let me take care of Aydith.”
You shook your head, fighting back a yawn. That would’ve only proved his point. “I’m fine.” You told him firmly. “I don’t need sleep. Not when she is like this.”
“But you do, especially as you’ve had the same exposure as her.” Adam countered, gazing straight into your eyes. “You becoming sick like her won’t do either of you any benefits, my love, so please, I implore you to sleep. Please don’t make me call upon Mantis to assist you.” He really had an odd way of saying things sometimes. “Deal?”
Adam was right. You really needed to rest. All of your energy had been spent long ago worrying and taking care of your daughter. As much as you hated to admit it, you weren’t any use to her if you were out of commission yourself. Frowning softly, you gave in and nodded.
“Okay.” You responded reluctantly, but finally agreed. “But if she seems like she is getting worse, you’ll get me up. And you won’t let me sleep too long.”
“I suppose that is reasonable enough.” He accepted as Aydith whined, wriggling in his grasp. Adam shifted her to his other shoulder and gently patted her back. “I shall take her in another room so it is quieter for you. We’ll be fine, won’t we, my tiny comet?”
Your mouth curved into a small smile, the first you’ve had in awhile. He was so good with her. So amazing that it made you love him that much more. You couldn’t ask for a better father for your child. And Gods did he adore her too. Talk about you hitting the jackpot.
You leaned in, kissing Aydith’s flushed cheek. “Only a nap, nothing too long.” You reminded Adam, taking a moment to kiss him. “And if she gets worse…”
“You have my word,Y/N. But I assure you, all will be well. Aydith is strong like her mother.” He hummed, glancing over at his daughter. “Now we will step out so you can sleep. I love you dearly and, though she cannot talk yet, I know Aydith shares my feelings too.”
“I love you both too.” And you wished there was a more powerful word to convey that.
Lying on your bed, you didn’t expect for you to fall asleep as quickly as you did. You honestly thought your body would fight your mind over remaining conscious. But you were gone. Floating in a dreamless state. A dark void enveloping you in a tight embrace. If it wasn’t for the distant sound of rhythm, perhaps you would’ve stayed there.
Your eyes opened, mind still fuzzy from sleep as you sat up. The music you heard was definitely there, not something you had dreamed up. And something about the tune felt so familiar. Adam and Aydith were nowhere to be seen--but what was more surprising, you couldn’t hear the softest of whimpers. Slightly worried, you forced your body up and made your way over to the doorway that led to the small space that served as your living room. The music grew louder as you quietly peeked in.
The Lion Sleeps Tonight by The Tokens. That’s why you recognized it. You didn’t remember much from your childhood on Earth, but you had the vaguest of memories of your mother playing that along with a few other songs when she was trying to coax you and Peter into falling asleep during a long car ride. You noticed the clunky radio Phyla had gifted to you--or rather, Aydith, as a present. The thing was pretty old and banged up, but that kinda gave it character. You looked away from it, your attention suddenly drawn to the figure standing right in the center of the room.
What Adam was doing, you couldn’t exactly call it dancing. It was more so like a bobbing, rocking sort of motion that kinda gave off the impression of someone having literal ants in their pants. Sometimes he’d sway back and forth before immediately stopping in his tracks to do knee bends. It was the strangest and yet, oddly cute thing you’d ever seen him do. And when you listened closely, he was even singing under his breath. Until that moment, it hadn’t even clicked in your mind that he was still holding Aydith. Nor that she was finally asleep.
“Hey.” You whispered, trying your best not to startle him. “Whatcha doing?”
Adam’s head snapped in your direction. “Oh! I’m sorry, did I wake you?” You shook your head and he sighed in relief. “Good. I have successfully aided our child.” “I can see that.” You smiled, making your way over to him. “You give Peter a run for his money with those moves.”
Adam beamed. “I call it The Dad Disco--I’m not quite sure what disco looks like, but I really liked the sound of it.” He looked down at the baby and you could’ve sworn his eyes sparkled. “I must admit, I was growing concerned but then when she finally fell asleep…well, I feel very accomplished now. I’m glad she’s out.”
“Me too.” You replied, admiring your daughter in his arms. “You’re an amazing dad, you know that?”
“I certainly couldn’t do it without you. We make quite the team, don’t we?” Adam smiled at you.
“Yeah. I’d say we’re pretty great together.” You reached out and lightly touched her small hand. “She makes it all worth it, huh?”
“Every millisecond.” He fell silent, eyes fixed on her before focusing on you. “If she stays asleep when I put her down in the crib, would you care to have a dance with me? I promise that we don’t have to do The Dad Disco. That’s more reserved for Aydith.”
You gave him a grin. “I think I would like that very much.”

What's One More
Prompt: When you discover that you are pregnant again while visiting your grandfather on Earth, you and Adam are elated over the news. And Adam's name suggestion makes you realize for the billionth time how much you love him. Word Count: 2,405
You were pretty sure it was hotter than the sun in your grandfather’s house--or, at least it felt that way. When his air conditioning unit decided to quit in the middle of the summer and your brother, Peter, had only made things worse trying to fix it himself, the rest of you were left to suffer the consequences. In the midst of it all, there was something that had been distracting you from the discomfort of it all. Or rather, someone.
Sleeping in the twin sized bed in the guest room by yourself was one thing. Adding your significant other into the mix was another. Throw in your three year old daughter and it was a crowd. Your eyes opened right as a tiny foot kicked you in the face. Carefully, you forced yourself to sit upright and looked over to see the culprit. Aydith, though tiny as she was, had somehow managed to take most of the space. Somehow she had wriggled her way on top of Adam, her golden locks of hair hiding his face. How the guy had stayed asleep, you were unsure. But you were glad both were still lost to the world.
Sleepily, you glanced over at the digital clock on the bedside table. 4:00 A.M. That was just great. Even if you wanted to fall back asleep, you highly doubted you could. Especially with your kid being the early bird that she was. Give her another hour or two, she would be zooming around the room. Literally. Thank Gods Adam came to visit with you all this time around. You sighed and turned your attention to the bathroom door, an unsettling feeling forming in the pit of your stomach.
Back on Knowhere, you had begun to expect something was up. A gut feeling you had only experienced one other time in your life. Part of you wondered if perhaps it was just stressed. You and the rest of the Guardians had been on back to back missions. Between splitting your time on those and raising your child, life was chaotic. But when the exhaustion and mood swings became paired with nausea, you knew there was more at play than just pressure.
The sound of Peter snoring from the couch in the living room follows you as you walk into the bathroom and close the door behind you. Earlier that day when you had taken Aydith with you to pick some groceries up at the store, you had also picked up a pregnancy test box in the pharmacy aisle. The damn thing had cost over twenty dollars, but it was a two pack and the reviews had been great--and you wanted the best when it came to accuracy.
Where are you? You muttered to yourself, fishing around the back of the sink drawer. You knew you hid them well, but not to the point where even you couldn’t find them. Dammit…
Finally, the tips of your fingers touched the glossy surface of the box and you pulled it out quickly. Immediate Detection, 99% Accuracy. Weird name, but okay. You opened it and took one out, studying it carefully. Looked quite similar to what you had used over three years ago, couldn’t be that difficult to figure out…
You and Adam had the occasional talk about the prospect of having more kids. Aydith was a handful and a half, but she was the greatest joy of both of your lives. Her powers were something you were still getting used to and neither you nor Adam had any indication to what extent she had inherited from him. Thank gods for those toddler backpacks with the little harnesses and leashes. But you had always seen children in your future, just not exactly when.
Your mind wandered as you set the used test of the edge of the tub. Three minutes. Three whole damn minutes. This was the 2020’s, how weren’t pregnant test results instantaneous? You bounced your leg as you tried to find something to focus on. Random dark spot on the wall? Maybe mold, probably should point that out to your grandfather. That rubber ducky you really needed to make a mental note of as to not forget. Aydith standing in the doorway…!
Aydith smiled at you from where she stood at the threshold clutching her beloved stuffed toy raccoon, Rocky, that Peter had bought for her as a joke at Rocket’s expense. Without a single ounce of consideration for your privacy, she waltzed in.
“Hi, Mama!” She grinned as you quickly stood up and fixed your pajamas. “Rocky says good morning, good morning!”
You exhaled softly, tucking a stray lock of hair behind her ear. “Good morning, Aydith. Rocky.” You quickly glanced over your shoulder trying to see the test. Still nothing. “You’re up early.”
“Mhm!” She bounced with the energy you wished that you had. “No more sleep! Daddy’s sleeping and Grandpa sleeping and Uncle Pete sleeping, not me though! And not you! Rocky’s not sleepy too.” Aydith held the toy toward you and said in a squeaky voice. “No sleep! Time to play!”
Her smile could light up an entire galaxy. You took Rocky from her and looked him over. Well, if you really squinted your eyes, you kinda did see Rocket… Handing the toy back over to her, you knelt down so you were at her eye level.
“Daddy’s still sleeping, huh?” She nodded vigorously in response. “Mama wishes she could have it that easy.”
Aydith suddenly tilted her head and pointed. “What’s that, Mama?”
You turned your head and your stomach did a somersault. The pregnancy test. When you look back at your daughter, she was staring at you expectantly. And in some strange way, it felt like Rocky was too.
“…It’s a test.” You told her honestly.
“A test?” She inquired innocently.
“Yes, a test.” And you hadn’t realized that you’d been chewing on the inside of your cheek until it began to sting. “Mama had to take a test.”
“Why?”
That was a good question. A very good one. Your mind raced as you tried to think of a decent, but vague answer. How did one respond to something with such importance? By now, the three minutes had long since ended and you were just itching to grab the damn thing and get it over with. Heart pounding, you reached over and picked it up. You looked down at the tiny screen and almost instantly your breath hitched in your throat.
“Mama?” Aydith’s voice sounded distant as you felt her tugging at your arm. “I wanna see! I wanna see!” She pleaded as if she knew what the thing was. “I wanna see, please!”
You didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Or possibly even throw up. The two pink lines were as solid and visible as they could be. You were pregnant again. It didn’t even feel real. Aydith would be a big sister, and you and Adam would have another daughter or son. A baby…Gods, two kids…
“Mama!” Aydith’s voice snapped you out of your trance. You met her stare and noticed she looked worried. “Don’t cry, Mama. Why are you sad?”
You hadn’t even realized there were tears streaming down your cheeks until that moment. You set the test down and wiped away at them. Aydith was still watching you with concern as you took one of her hands in your own and gave her a watery smile.
“Oh baby girl, I’m not sad.” You assured her. “Mama’s very happy. These are good tears. Happy tears.” You paused, trying to decide if it was okay to announce it to her so early on. Would she even understand it? “I’ve got something special to tell you. Would you like to hear it?”
Your daughter bobbed her head up and down. “Mhm! A secret?!”
“Well…maybe not exactly.” If you told her, all of Knowhere would know the moment you all stepped off the ship. “But it is very important.” You ran your thumb across her knuckles. “You’re going to be a big sister. Mama’s going to have a baby.”
Her eyes lit up. “A baby?!”
You gave her a nod. “Mama has a baby in her belly.” Well, not in your stomach, but you weren’t in the mood to give an anatomy lesson. “But it will still be a long time before they’re here.”
“Five days?”
You couldn’t help but snort at her concept of time. Shaking your head, you pressed a kiss to her forehead. “A little longer than that. But I promise you, it’ll be well worth the wait. You were.”
Your daughter seemed to consider this. After a moment, she gave you a firm nod. Sometimes the expressions she made reminded you so much of Adam. She really did take after him. You couldn’t help but wonder if this baby would too.
“Rocky wants to tell Daddy!”
Before you could stop her, Aydith made a beeline out of the bathroom and towards your bed. She was a good foot or so off the ground when she landed right on top of Adam. By some miracle, even in his half asleep state, he managed to catch her right as she began to roll off the bed. Your daughter squealed in delight at his trick and you let out the breath you didn’t realize that you were holding.
“And a fine morning to you as well, my little comet.” Adam yawned, giving her a smile. “Rocky.”
“Rocky wants to tell you something, Daddy!” Aydith practically sang, shaking the stuffed raccoon in his face. “Something veeeeeery important!”
“Oh?” And Adam looked over at you in amused curiosity. “What news does Rocky have for me?”
“Aydith’s mama is having a baby!” Aydith declared in his voice. “She told me and Aydith!”
Adam’s eyes went wide and you watched as he sat up. Aydith clung to her father’s back as you walked over to the two of them.
“Y/N, is it true?” He asked softly. “Are you with child?” Sometimes he had a really odd way of putting things. Just another quirk of his that you loved, you supposed. “We’re going to have another baby?”
You held out the positive test. “According to this, yes. I wasn’t exactly planning on breaking the news through Rocky, but I oh--”
Suddenly Adam’s arms were around and the test dropped to the floor. You couldn’t help but laugh at his reaction. His own excitement and joy intermingled with your own as he beamed at you with such love and pride you could’ve melted right then and there.
“So I can safely assume that you are excited then?” You teased, leaning in when he kissed you. Aydith made a noise of disgust at the scene of your affection. “That you’re ready for round two?”
“Absolutely nothing would make me happier.” Adam smiled broadly. “To become a father once more and to give our little Aydith a sibling!”
“I’m not little, I’m a big girl!” Aydith argued as she plopped down onto the bed. “I’m three!”
“My apologies, so you are.” Her father replied, winking at you. “And a wise big sister you shall be.” Adam reached over and took your hand. “I believe this news is cause for celebration. Perhaps a breakfast feast is in order?”
Now that he mentioned it, you really could go for some waffles. Also pancakes. Bacon? Some sausage links? Eggs! Now some berries also sounded nice… Ooh, and a nice, oversized cinnamon roll. Your free hand rested on your stomach. It would be awhile before you showed in the slightest, even longer before you’d feel the first flutters. You longed for those coming days.
“I could go for some food.” You gave his hand a squeeze. “But maybe we should wait until my grandpa and Peter are awake--”
“I’ll go get Uncle Pete!” Aydith declared, leaping off of the bed and zooming out of the room before either of you could stop her. “Uncle Pete! Uncle Pete! Guess what?!”
And from down the hall you heard the couch creak and a loud groan presumably from brother as his niece's body slammed him full force. A wakeup call indeed.
XXX
You stared down at the set of sonogram photos you had gotten when you went to visit your grandfather on Earth. While your pregnancy was being monitored on Knowhere, you still had wanted your grandfather to witness seeing his great grandchild on an ultrasound. So you found one of those places that did that sort of thing and took him along with Adam, Peter, and Aydith. Now as you waited for Rocket to return with the ship, you couldn’t stop looking at them.
“Look at him and tell me that isn’t Aydith’s nose.” You said to Adam, pointing at one of the pictures. “He looks just like her. When we get home, I want to find her ultrasound pictures to compare.”
Adam’s hand rested on the small of your back as he studied the images too. “He does…” He held out his other hand and you gave him the pictures. “We should decide upon a name.”
You looked at him. “Do you have any suggestions?”
He thought for a minute. “Well, Aydith wanted to call him Rocky.”
You rolled your eyes. “Ever since Peter got her that damn stuffed animal, it’s her favorite name. But no, even though I am sure Rocket would be thrilled to be his namesake.”
“I suppose you’re right.” Adam chuckled softly.
“What about Adam?” You suggested, watching for his reaction. “Adam Junior? We could call him AJ for short. That’s kinda cute.”
He shook his head. “I’m not the greatest fan of that.” Adam fell quiet for a moment. “What about Jason?”
“Jason?” You repeated. “Jason as in my grandfather, or as in my brother’s middle name? That Jason?”
Adam gave you a small smile. “I know how important they are to you, Y/N. And it is a family name. It would mean a lot to me to call our son a name that has great significance to you.”
You blinked back tears. Of all the sweet things, and there were many, that Adam had done for you, this by far was the greatest. You rested your hand on the small swell of your stomach, feeling the tiny movements from within.
“Jason…I love it. We’ll call him Jace.” You smiled, resting your head against Adam. “Jason Warlock.”

My Girl
Adam Warlock x Star Lord!Sister Reader
Prompt: You and Adam enjoy a quiet moment as parents with your baby. (Lots of fluff and some romance)
Words: 867
A/N: Hello! Today I wanted to write something short and sweet so have some dad!Adam and mom!Reader. I just wanted to add real quick that you don’t need to have read any of my other one shots to know what is going on. They basically can be as read as stand alone. The daughter is named Aydith after Adam’s mom, Ayesha, and Peter Quill’s (and the reader’s) mom, Meredith. Hence the name haha! Here is the LINK to all the one shots in the series if you’d like to check them out! Requests are open! Thank you all so much! I hope you enjoy! Also I may do one for Father’s Day but I am not sure. It is started though. -Jen
                                                  My Girl
Out of context, telling someone that the man you loved had fallen head over heels for another girl would’ve surely sounded downright horrible. But that was far from the truth. In fact, you couldn’t be more over the moon about it. The moment your daughter had come into the world, the moment Adam’s eyes landed on his child, it was as if nothing else mattered. You both were his universe--you, the moon, and she, the sun. Adam had fallen in love again, but so had you.
“Why thank you, I shall treasure this dearly.”
You leaned against the door frame, your mouth curved into a small smile as you watched Adam cheerfully accept the wooden spoon your ten month old daughter, Aydith, held out to him in earnest. You were exactly sure where the two of them had managed to collect such an odd assortment of things, but you were happy they were enjoying themselves. Her nose crinkled up as she giggled, her chubby fist holding a twig towards him. Groot’s?
“It is very lovely. Finer than any branch on Sovereign. Perhaps we should display it in the house. Isn’t that right, Mama?” Adam looked over to you, motioning to the stick. “What say you? Is this not the most impressive piece of wood you’ve ever seen?”
“Positively stunning.” You chuckled, making your way over to their side. Aydith squealed as you leaned down to kiss Adam before turning your attention on her. “You have quite a collection here, sunshine. Must be that pinch of Ravanger in you.” You tickled her, the baby breaking out into a fit of giggles. “Where did this come from?”
“Oh, just here and there. Anything that really piqued our interest--or, rather, hers. She has quite the taste for things.” Adam explained, both of you watching Aydith as she retrieved a purple shell from her pile. Must’ve been something Phyla had given her. “Not too sure what we will do with all of it once we’re done.”
Your daughter waved the shell in the air, blowing tiny spit bubbles as she let it fall. Without hesitation, you watch as she began to float into the air. Even though you’d had weeks to get used to this new found power of hers, your heart still leaped out of your chest each time. Adam, however, didn’t even blink as he casually reached up and brought her back down, settling her in his lap. Aydith frowned.
“You know I’m not against Rocket making those gravity boots he offered to design for us for her.” Adam said, holding onto the little girl as she wiggled in his grasp. “I know it would bring you a lot of comfort knowing she was on the ground.”
“I know.” You sighed softly. “But I don’t want us to treat her powers like they are a burden or something.” Even though the thought had crossed your mind more than once. “I just…I just want her to be safe, that’s all.”
Both of you fell silent for a moment. Eventually, Aydith seemed to lose interest in trying to fly, earning her the right to freedom from her father’s lap. She crawled her way over to her pile, plopping down before it with a smile. You felt Adam’s hand rest on yours, and you interlock your fingers. Looking over at him, you noticed the way he gazed at you with his golden eyes. A stare you knew that one day would gross your daughter out because her parents had that ‘yucky lovey dovey’ look on your faces.
“What?” You felt the heat rising to your cheeks as you fought to keep a straight face.
“Just admiring your beauty.” Adam admitted, obviously amused with your reaction. “Have I ever told you how absolutely radiant you are, Y/N?”
Countless times. In every single language. Verbally and physically. Sometimes you wondered if that was all Adam could ever say. Just like a broken record. And by Gods would you be lying if you said you didn’t love it.
“I don’t know.” You feigned innocently, shrugging your shoulders. “My memory can be quite vague at times. I could use some reminding…”
Adam smirked before leaning over to kiss you. Heat began to pool in your stomach when his lips touched yours. It was so easy to get lost in the moment, savoring the intimacy you both craved. It was the blown up, plastic ball that hit your knee that caused you to break apart. Your daughter was staring at you both, her head slightly cocked to the side.
“Later.” You murmured, your grin sly. “When she goes down for her nap.”
“Is that a promise, Y/N?” Adam whispered, lust in his eyes.
“A guarantee.” You pressed your index finger to his lips. “It’ll be worth it.”
Aydith let out a shrill cry as if demanding that all attention be redirected at her. You chuckled softly, still holding onto Adam’s hand as you scooted closer to the baby. Adam’s love for you was Aydith. What had come of it all. Seeing her, watching her, your daughter’s existence screamed it. You smiled, feeling Adam’s fingers tighten as your child played before you. She was the sun.

                          Disastrously Good Intentions
If it hadn’t been for Adam’s unnaturally quick reaction time, you would’ve surely hit the ground trying to stagger backwards away from the unmanned cart full of presents that careened past you. The sight before you was something you hadn’t quite expected. Balloons of all pastel shades were strung up--though many popped, from various railings and beams. There was a banner that read “WAR”, which, from the letters you saw scattered on the ground at one point, must've said “BABY WARLOCK”. It was kinda fitting though. The battlefield aspect. Especially when your eyes landed on the cake that looked like a literal bomb had gone off inside of it. Icing was everywhere. Literally, everywhere.
“This wasn’t what I had envisioned when I learned about pregnancy customs from your planet.” Adam sighed in defeat, both of you watching as Drax accidentally collapsed one of the table legs while trying to steady another. “We wanted to surprise you with a baby shower. I wanted to surprise you.”
You rested your hand on the swell of your stomach. Seven months with two to go. Life had been pretty boring since you had to take a step away from missions. Gods, you missed it. What point was it to be a Guardian when the most excitement you dealt with was settling petty disputes between Knowhere’s citizens? Your baby’s health and safety was of the utmost importance and you’d do anything for her, but you couldn’t help but feel a little envious whenever Adam returned for duty and told you what the team had accomplished. But now, for the first time in awhile, you actually felt something. Small as it was.
“Oh, I am definitely surprised.” You assured him, amusement finding you as Groot popped more balloons than he managed to reattach. “And you did all of this? For me?”
“Yes! Well, everyone assisted of course. Peter was of the greatest use. Last time when you both visited your grandfather, he brought those magazines? You know from that place where you can pay and they do the imaging of the baby? What we do here, but much more complex and thorough.”
Ah, the sonogram place. Not a doctor’s office, but one of those companies where you could go with your loved ones and see your baby on the screen. You’d taken your grandfather a few times so he could witness his great grandchild’s heartbeat first hand. See her wiggle and even get a few pictures as a keepsake out of it. Peter tagged along each time making it a Quill family affair. Though you never noticed that he borrowed the waiting room’s only literature…
“I see…” You nodded, trying to hide your smile as you caught sight of Kraglin getting after Cosmo--who had given into her dog nature and had taken to enjoying some of the fallen cake. “I like the decorations.”
“Mantis and Nebula. Well, Nebula after a great deal of convincing from Mantis. She wanted to make it clear that she wouldn’t do this for just anyone and that you better be grateful. I’m certain she meant that with love. You know how she can be with words. She’s just well…she’s Nebula.” Adam said with a smile. “Do you like the colors? Rocket picked those.”
“Rocket?!” You snorted, stunned by the news. “...I never pictured him being someone who’d be into color schemes.”
“Well, Drax wanted to go full black and grey, but Peter informed him those were the opposite colors from a celebration like this.” Adam sighed, his mouth curving into a small frown. “This was supposed to be perfect. Just like in the magazines. And I’ve failed, Y/N…”
Out of the corner of your eye, you saw your brother running with a bucket of water. You weren’t sure if you wanted to know why. Rocket was making wild gestures at Groot who had somehow managed to get the banner strings wrapped around his branches. Nebula seemed to have just given up on it all as Mantis haphazardly juggled a tower’s worth of presents. And Drax…well, that table would never be of use again. At least Cosmo was enjoying herself.
“Hey.” You turned so you faced Adam completely. Resting your hand on his cheek, you made him look at you. “Sweetheart, you didn’t fail at all.”
“But, your party. It looks like…”
“Not like a normal baby shower? Yeah, that’s true.” You smiled, chuckling softly. “I mean, it’s wild. Chaotic. A big mess. But that’s what we all are. This party, all of it.” You gestured around you. “When I see this sight around me. I see my family. Not some boring, structured thing. You couldn’t give me or…” You took Adam’s hand and placed it on your stomach feeling your baby move from within. “Her a better celebration. I love this. All of this. And I love you.”
You leaned up and kissed Adam gently. His eyes lit up and his smile returned. Both of you looked to the wreckage that was your party, though it felt wrong and yet silly calling it that.
“I have an idea.” You said with a grin.
“Oh?” Adam inquired, an eyebrow raised.
“How about we go over there and help poor Mantis before those presents topple over. I’d kinda like to see what is inside.”
Adam smiled and placed a kiss on your forehead. “That, my darling, sounds like a glorious idea.”
