Introduction
Although my blog will be dedicated to films and my filmmaking process, I will first introduce myself as it is important (but not essential) for you to know the man behind the keyboard...
Hello everyone, my name is Dean and I am currently in my first year at Edinburgh Napier University on the BA (HONS) Film course. I was born in Aberdeen on July 27th, 2002 (if anyone cares) and first gravitated towards filmmaking after leaving secondary school in 2019. Since then, I have completed 3 years at college studying media, film and television where I have experienced a sense of this art form by making short-films.
The truth is, I haven't seen or watched a great deal of films in my life so far, at least not as much as you'd expect for a film student. Why you ask? First, most films are too long, I prefer the short and sweet ones. Second, filmmaking fascinates me more than watching films, I do love and appreciate watching all films, but making them is where my curiosity lies. Third, I am saving them for the right place and right time, sometimes the occasion can make or break a film.
In conclusion, I am still a cinephile, but maybe not to the degree you were expecting. Anyways, now that the boring stuff is out the way, here is my aims for this blog and what to expect...
The main purpose of all this blog is to reflect on my own work, build knowledge and experience with aspirations to develop into a contemporary filmmaker. I will reflect on my strengths and weaknesses through all production phases with a variation of responsibilities to help me understand and identify which role within the industry expresses the best of my skills. Additionally, I will use this space to share the progress of my own films throughout the pre, pro and post-production phase.
Secondly, I will also use this platform to review the work of other diverse filmmakers in which I admire or dislike, with an intent to engage critically with their films and understand why the components have been orchestrated together in such a way, and whether it proves effective or not.
Finally, without sounding overly ambitious, I hope this blog will become a journal of my own learning and evidence of my filmmaking progression. I hope to learn from my mistakes and transmit my knowledge and experiences into film form and to create compelling story’s with a fresh perspective.

Welcome.
My name's Lorenzo and I've just finished the second year of the BA(Hons) Music programme at LASALLE. The purpose of this blog is to document my industry engagement and musical ventures from May 2024.
For the most part, this will be used as a journal to document my current job as a guitar teacher giving private lessons to students. My lesson planning process, teaching methods and personal reflections will be included in entries as a means to reflect on myself as an aspiring educator to see what I can do improve myself such that I am able to provide quality lessons and help develop an appreciation for music in my students.
Occasionally I do get the chance to perform. I may document these moments via video as a way to listen back at my performance and have some insight into my personal strengths and weaknesses so as to improve myself as a performer.
I'd also like to journal aspects of my personalised practice such as repertoire, techniques and methods so I can have an archive of material to work on for myself in the future.
TL;DR, here's a peek into my journey as a musician outside of school.
