Hello BJD community

Is your doll in need of hair?? Do you have a brain that demands instant results and will not wait until tomorrow let alone days for a glue wigcap to dry or however long for a premade wig to arrive in the post? Then boy do I have a post for you !

Following the traditional rules of science, I have fucked around and I have found out. And it works! Here is your ~1 hour [less probably, I didnt time it] making time wigcap tutorial from yours truly, the likes of which I have certainly never seen before, ft Clement who has a neon purple mohawk [a look impossible to find anywhere even if I did have the patience to order it and wait]. ...also bad photography and spelling errors which I do not have the braincell to fix at 10pm

You do Not need to be an expert with a needle to do this- or if you are an expert, you dont need to use effort. I usually sew by hand reasonably neatly, and. here it is very clear I did not. Remeber- you’re going to be covering this with hair!! You dont even need the same fabric colour as your doll’s skin, depending on the style you want. I used hot glue to add said hair directly to the head with little to no processing, and I now have something temporary until the whim of buying the right colour fibre occurs! Just make sure the fabric is fairly thick and not stretchy. I would suggest shaping the front and around the ears into a hairline too- this is more a proof of concept so didnt warrant it. Just draw on the fabric and cut out there I’d presume. Fyi no I did not seal seams or even make seams, the fabric I had wasn’t fraying enough to warrant the bulk. Depending on what you use, you might need to do that.

I did this tonight so ofc I dont know about durability, but I figure no harm- it fits very snugly so I think the biggest issue is it stretching over time, but that could be fixed with blutack or velcro pieces as you usually do with oversized wigs.

An added benefit of this? You get motivation to get the right colour hair ordered!! I am rather excited now, my boy is working out well

I love figuring things like this out and I have the time to do so- if you have any points of frustration, ask and I’ll see what I come up with. The worst that happens is I get confused too. I’m moderately new actually posting my doll stuff and I’d like to interact more, so if you want to chat then throw an ask at me

I've been working on this guy too. I made him a shirt I'm really happy with but the wig was just not working. So I'm trying again with pva glue and a tighter wig cap. I might have to try a third time and just buy a different kind of hair. I point blank refuse to buy nylon hair and curl it myself lmao so i'm making do with human hair extension.

I required a "boost me up" lately so for my birthday I offered myself one of RingDoll's Lucky Bags =^.^= I was delighted when J-N appeared before me ! This is exactly the body type I was hoping for, and J-N is absolutely adorable! The cutest boy, half priced new bjd, I'm in a dreamland!

For fun, I made J-N try my other head's wigs. Of course they don't fit since I tailor them to fit each models perfectly, but it's fun to see which style and colour might fits him best ^^ I wonder how I'll paint/dress him up... Will I give him a series character? an OC? Would he fit in my new dragon/demon craze? Or will he enter my bjd cat family despite not being specifically modeled as one?

So much to dream about ^^

The doll formerly known as Sombi (now Lumina) started out originally as an excuse to buy things for the simple fact I liked them. That trend is continuing with this adorable “cat style” wig from Dollce. She’s not a cat girl or anything, but it’s just a really cute wig and it’s in her colour, which was itself chosen back in 2009 for the simple fact I liked it. I have no idea which of the five wigs she’ll have will be the One, but it doesn’t matter.

Speaking of Lumina, the people at Angell Studio are so nice. In the end, for the mistake with the face-up, they gave me a generous partial refund on it, a 20% off coupon, and are letting me buy a blank Cynthia head too (using the aforementioned coupon). I’ve found a faceup artist here in the UK who will do a great job, so yeah… progress. In a fashion. The sort of fashion where there will still be a lot more waiting and maybe I’ll get to have what I consider to be a completed doll by early next year.

Things are coming together slowly in the background for Trudie as well. Little forward steps. 😌

Does this count as a horror story?

I once bought a doll second hand from a borderline acquaintance online. Basic stuff, really.

The doll came with a pretty nice wig - but it was like.. a bit greasy. So I message the seller, asking what the steps would be, to work on it & what material the hair was (I was new at doll stuff, so I needed the advice I could get)

I learned - it was human hair. Her hair. So that was... certainly a development.

(I kept it. I still own it. It's a damn nice wig, but I dread the day anyone asks me where I got it)
