Hosting International Events in Czechia? Don’t Skip This Communication Tool
Introduction Czechia, nestled in the heart of Europe, has become an emerging hotspot for international conventions, expos, and summits. With an influx of professionals, academics, and dignitaries from across the globe, ensuring effective communication is not a luxury — it's a necessity. One often overlooked yet crucial element in orchestrating successful multilingual events in Czechia is professional interpretation equipment. In this article, we delve into how interpretation systems elevate event experiences, why they're vital in the Czech context, and how to make informed choices when integrating them into your event plan.
The Rising Demand for Multilingual Solutions in Czech Events
As a member of the European Union and a popular destination for global gatherings, Czechia welcomes thousands of event attendees each year who speak dozens of different languages. Events hosted in Prague, Brno, Ostrava, and beyond often bring together speakers and participants from Western Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Without reliable tools to bridge language gaps, key messages may be misunderstood or entirely missed.
Consequences of Not Using Interpretation Tools:
Reduced audience engagement from non-native speakers
Misinterpretation of data, presentations, or negotiations
Decreased professionalism and reputation of the hosting organization
Utilizing sophisticated interpretation equipment ensures every attendee can participate fully, regardless of language proficiency.
Understanding the Essentials: What Interpretation Equipment Includes
Interpreter Booths These are soundproof spaces where interpreters can work without distractions. The booths follow international standards and are essential for simultaneous interpretation setups.
Wireless Receivers and Headsets Participants receive live translations directly through wireless systems. These allow for clear, uninterrupted listening, even in large auditoriums.
Transmitter Units These devices deliver the interpreter’s voice to all receivers, maintaining audio clarity throughout the venue.
Table Microphones and Delegate Units Used during roundtable discussions, these ensure everyone’s voice is picked up clearly and interpreted in real-time.
Portable Tour Guide Systems Ideal for off-site tours or mobile workshops, these systems are light and easy to deploy for small-group scenarios.
Top Scenarios Where Interpretation Equipment is a Game-Changer in Czechia
International Conferences: With diverse attendee backgrounds, clear multilingual communication is crucial.
Academic Seminars: Cross-border collaborations often include guests from various linguistic backgrounds.
Corporate AGMs and Training Programs: Companies with multilingual teams benefit from seamless understanding.
Government Delegations: Political and diplomatic accuracy requires high-precision interpretation.
Cultural Exhibitions and Public Events: Visitors gain more value when presentations are available in multiple languages.
Best Practices When Choosing Interpretation Equipment in Czechia
Assess Venue Needs: Indoor halls, outdoor venues, and hybrid setups require different solutions.
Book Early: Especially in busy months (spring and fall), equipment and interpreters are in high demand.
Request On-Site Technicians: For large events, having a professional handle real-time troubleshooting ensures smooth operation.
Prioritize Quality and Compliance: Look for ISO-certified booths, noise-cancellation headsets, and reliable wireless ranges.
Plan for Redundancy: Always have backup units and channels ready in case of technical hiccups.
Key Locations in Czechia Where These Services Thrive
Prague: The epicenter of business tourism and home to most international events.
Brno: Known for tech expos, start-up meetups, and academic conferences.
Ostrava: Emerging as a secondary hub for industry-specific events.
Whether it’s a political roundtable or a product launch, cities across Czechia are increasingly dependent on these communication tools.
Cost Breakdown and Rental Options
Event organizers can usually choose from:
Daily Rental Packages: Suitable for single-day events
Multi-Day Rentals: Ideal for 2–5 day conferences
Full-Service Packages: Including equipment, setup, interpreter staffing, and live technical support
Cost Factors:
Number of attendees
Number of interpretation languages
Type of venue (open or closed space)
Need for video or hybrid compatibility
Tip: Bundle interpretation solutions with AV services or translation services to get competitive rates.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: Do I need interpretation for every session? No, focus on keynote speeches, panel discussions, and any sessions involving international guests.
Q2: How many languages can be supported simultaneously? Most systems allow for 4–8 channels, depending on the hardware.
Q3: Can equipment be used for hybrid or online events? Yes, many modern systems sync with platforms like Zoom or Teams, making hybrid interpretation seamless.
Q4: How do I choose the right interpreter for my event? Look for professionals experienced in your event type and subject matter. Your equipment vendor may also provide interpreter staffing.
Q5: What if participants are unfamiliar with the equipment? Provide a quick user guide at registration or include a short orientation at the beginning.
Conclusion
Czechia’s strategic location, modern infrastructure, and diverse event calendar make it a premier location for international events. However, hosting a successful multilingual event requires more than a great venue — it requires the right communication tools. Interpretation equipment not only bridges the language gap but also enhances professionalism, participant satisfaction, and the event’s overall impact.
From wireless headsets to interpreter booths, each piece of the puzzle plays a role in ensuring that ideas are shared, messages are understood, and connections are made — regardless of the language spoken. By investing in reliable interpretation technology and working with expert vendors, event organizers in Czechia can ensure their message resonates across borders.

Top Features in a Tempo Traveller for a Comfortable Trip in Jodhpur
Tumblr media
When it comes to exploring the vibrant streets of Jodhpur with friends, family, or a group, nothing beats the comfort and convenience of a tempo traveller. Whether you're heading to the majestic Mehrangarh Fort or planning a desert road trip, the right tempo traveller can make all the difference.
But with so many options available, how do you choose the best one? This guide will help you understand the key features to look for in a tempo traveller in Jodhpur to ensure a safe, smooth, and memorable ride.
1. Spacious Seating Arrangement
One of the first things to consider is the seating arrangement. Tempo travellers come in different sizes—9-seater, 12-seater, 15-seater, and even 20-seater options.
Make sure the tempo traveller you choose offers:
Push-back seats for maximum comfort
Adequate legroom so that long rides don’t feel tiring
Armrests and headrests for added support
If you're travelling with senior citizens or kids, spacious seating becomes even more important.
2. Air Conditioning for All Weather Conditions
Jodhpur can get extremely hot, especially during the summer months. Having a good air conditioning system is essential. Look for a tempo traveller with:
Powerful AC vents for every seat
Separate climate control settings if available
Option to turn off AC in case the weather is pleasant
A cool and fresh interior can truly uplift the travel experience, especially during long drives.
3. Cleanliness and Hygiene
A clean vehicle not only makes a great first impression but also contributes to a healthier journey. Before booking, check whether the cab company regularly:
Sanitizes the tempo traveller
Offers clean seat covers and curtains
Provides dustbins and tissue boxes
Clean interiors show how much the cab operator values customer satisfaction and safety.
4. Ample Luggage Space
Jodhpur is not just a sightseeing destination—it’s also a shopping paradise for handicrafts, textiles, and jewelry. That means you'll need enough space for your luggage.
A good tempo traveller should have:
A rear luggage compartment
Overhead space for small bags
Space under the seats for easy access
When you have ample luggage space, you don't need to compromise on your shopping spree or carry bags in your lap.
5. Onboard Entertainment System
Whether you're travelling with kids or a group of friends, having an entertainment system onboard adds fun to your journey. Look for:
A music system with Bluetooth or USB support
LED screens for watching movies
Microphone support for group announcements or singing
This can turn your tempo traveller into a moving party, especially during festive tours or weddings.
6. Experienced and Polite Driver
The driver plays a crucial role in ensuring your travel experience is smooth and stress-free. A professional driver knows the local routes, traffic updates, and safety precautions.
Make sure the driver is:
Licensed and well-trained
Polite and helpful
Familiar with tourist spots and can act as a local guide
If you’re booking with the best cab service in Jodhpur, they will usually assign experienced and verified drivers only.
7. Safety Features
Safety should always be a priority, especially when travelling in groups or with family. Your tempo traveller must be equipped with essential safety gear such as:
First-aid kits
Fire extinguisher
GPS tracking system
Seat belts for every passenger
Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)
If you’re travelling during the night, make sure the vehicle also has strong headlights and working indicators.
8. Smooth Suspension and Powerful Engine
Road conditions can vary, especially if you're planning to visit offbeat areas or rural surroundings around Jodhpur. Your tempo traveller must have a:
Well-maintained suspension system for bumpy roads
Powerful engine that doesn't struggle with hills or rough terrain
Smooth gear shifting and brakes for better control
Test rides may not always be possible, but good reviews and regular maintenance records can give you confidence.
9. Affordable Pricing and Transparent Billing
Price is always a deciding factor. While cheaper options may seem tempting, they may lack essential features. Choose a tempo traveller that offers:
Reasonable rates without compromising on quality
Transparent billing—no hidden charges
Flexible packages—per km, hourly, or full-day basis
If you’re exploring options for car hire in Jodhpur, many services also offer combo deals with tempo travellers and small cars for different group sizes.
10. Local Travel Support
Sometimes plans change, or you need assistance during your journey. Choose a service provider that offers:
24x7 customer support
Easy cancellation or rescheduling options
Availability of replacement vehicle in case of breakdown
This level of support can save your trip from unexpected problems and delays.
11. Good Reviews and Ratings
Before booking, always check customer reviews on Google or travel platforms. It gives you a fair idea of service quality and overall reliability.
A good rating means:
Prompt service
Friendly staff
Value for money
If a company consistently gets positive feedback, you can trust them to deliver a great experience.
12. Easy Booking Process
Nobody likes complicated booking procedures. The tempo traveller should be easy to book through:
A website with all details and pictures
Phone call or WhatsApp for instant confirmation
Clear payment options—cash, UPI, or online
Quick booking means less hassle and more time to focus on your trip.
Why Choose the Right Tempo Traveller?
Whether you’re planning a city tour, a wedding function, or a weekend getaway, the right tempo traveller ensures:
Comfort for all passengers
Safety on the road
Fun and entertainment along the way
Affordable travel with no stress
For a smooth travel experience, you can explore services listed in the Cab Services Jodhpur blog, where many local providers are reviewed based on real customer experiences.
Conclusion
A tempo traveller is more than just a vehicle—it’s a part of your journey. From comfort to cleanliness, from space to safety, every feature matters when you’re travelling through the royal city of Jodhpur.
Before you book, take time to compare, read reviews, and ask questions. Whether you're a tourist or a local group planning a fun outing, making the right choice can elevate your entire trip.
For those who want reliable service with all modern features, it’s best to go with the best cab service in Jodhpur, which offers a well-maintained fleet, trained drivers, and complete customer support. Start your Jodhpur adventure with a comfortable ride that takes care of everything for you.

@mozy-j  @strawberriewithchocolate-blog @daechwitad-2
In the top floor penthouse in downtown Seoul, Taehyung stood in his walk-in closet, tying his tie in front of the floor length mirror. He checked the time. Five minutes before he had to leave. A text from his driver let him know that his ride was downstairs. After pulling his jacket on and checking himself one last time, he left his penthouse and made his way downstairs.
               The drive was quiet. Taehyung appreciated his early morning drives to the museum; it was a moment of peace before getting to work.
               His museum was his pride and joy. The building was all white marble, Grecian in design with a massive atrium dome in the center of the roof. He built it himself, without his father’s help. Not that his father would have helped him even if he were alive. His father was killed when Taehyung was a teenager, but the man was never very present in Taehyung’s life. He was almost always overseas on business, a business Taehyung was now in charge of.
               Taehyung never minded. He loved what he did. The thrill of it was almost as great as the wealth that came with it. The only thing he wished was different was the fame. He was the owner of the biggest private museum in Korea, not to mention the youngest, and with that title came press. He passed a billboard on the way to his museum, his own face looking down at the expressway.
               Stealing famous art and priceless artifacts would definitely be easier if his face wasn’t on every Louis Vuitton cologne and Rolex advertisement.
               His museum came into view and he was pleased to see he already had a line outside, waiting for the doors to open. There was a new exhibit opening today, and he was just as excited about it as the people waiting along the sidewalk.
               Once he was in his office, his assistant came in with a frazzled look on her face.
               “Sir, there’s a big problem,” she said.
               Taehyung took a deep breath before saying, “What’s wrong?”
               “One of our tour guides called in, he said he came down with something,” she said, frantically riffling through the disorganized mess of papers in her arms. “Which leaves us with only five guides. We’re going to be overloaded. There’s going to be children running around like monkeys, putting their filthy hands on the new exhibit-“
               Taehyung grabbed his assistant’s shoulders and fought against the smile threatening to come out. This was just like her, panicking every time something small didn’t go according to plan.
               “I will take his place,” Taehyung said.
               “But, sir…”
               “It’s my exhibit after all,” said Taehyung. “Who better than me to give the tour?”
               “Are you sure? People will recognize you,” she said. “Your most recent photoshoot for Hyundai is currently trending on Twitter. You’ll distract from the exhibit.”
               “I am sure,” said Taehyung. “I don’t think I’ll be a distraction.”
               His assistant gave him a skeptical and not at all placated look as she left his office.
               The museum doors were finally open and visitors were pouring in. The crowd was split up into six different tour groups, and Taehyung began his speech throughout the new exhibit. Quite a few eyes were glued to him rather than the exhibit, but he paid them no mind.
               A few tours later and something caught Taehyung’s eye through the crowd. He stuttered in the middle of his speech and stared wide eyed at the visitors waiting for him at the entrance.
               “Everyone, if you would please pardon me for a moment,” he said. “Please be responsible and follow the signs through the exhibit. Another guide will find you in a moment.”
               Taehyung pulled his earpiece and microphone off and pushed through the crowd of visitors. He made it to the front doors of the museum and stopped in front of two men, his smile dropping.
               “What are you doing here?” Taehyung whispered.
               Jin smiled and said, “What, we’re not allowed to visit an old friend?”
               “I’m working,” said Taehyung. “You can’t bring this here-“
               “Meet with us tonight,” said Namjoon. He handed Taehyung a slip of paper. Taehyung took it and slipped it into his inside coat pocket without tearing his eyes from them.
               “I will speak with you later,” he said. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I was in the middle of a tour.”
               Taehyung backed away from them and then made his way back to his tour group.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
               “How do you know he’ll actually show up?” Jin asked as they drove back to Namjoon’s apartment.
               “He will,” said Namjoon. “He lives for this kind of thing. Literally. He does jobs like this for a living.”
               “I thought his museum was honest now,” said Jin. “Doesn’t he do modelling now too?”
               “Oh, sure. His museum is honest alright,” said Namjoon. He took the turn into his parking garage. “If by honest you mean every single piece on display there was stolen one way or another.”
               “Doesn’t he buy or…” Jin began.
               “Sometimes. But most of the time, he acquires them himself,” Namjoon said as he parked the car. Jin’s Mercedes was parked beside them.
               “I’m glad we have him on our side then,” said Jin. They sat in silence for a while before Jin said, “Well, I will see you later tonight. Tell your mother I say hello.”
               “I will,” said Namjoon. Jin opened the passenger door and stepped out, getting right into his own car beside them. Namjoon waited a few minutes after Jin drove off before leaving the parking garage himself.
               The prison loomed over Namjoon as he stood in front of it, leaning against his car. He didn’t have to wait long before he saw his mother step out of the double doors. He smiled as they met in the middle. His mom wrapped her arms around him and held him in a crushing hug.
               “My son,” she said, her voice wobbly. “My beautiful son. Look at you.”
               She pulled back and held his shoulders.
               “You’re so handsome,” she said. “I mean, you’ve always been handsome, but there was that weird awkward phase you had-“
               Namjoon scoffed and rolled his eyes as she burst out laughing.
               “I missed you, mom,” he said.
               “I missed you too.”
               They got into the car and Namjoon began the drive back home.
               “How’s your sister?” his mom asked.
               “She graduated yesterday,” said Namjoon. “She wants to be a school teacher.”
               “Good. I knew she’d be successful,” his mom said. “She’s a smart girl. You both are. How are you? What have you been doing with your life?”
               “I work for a tech company in Seoul but I’m planning on leaving them soon,” said Namjoon. “I have a lot of work to do for my new job. Jin says hi, by the way.”
               His mother narrowed her eyes as she scrutinized him. “You’re planning something, aren’t you?”
               “I have no idea what you’re talking about,” said Namjoon, keeping his eyes on the road.
               “Well, I suppose it’s none of my business, as long you keep me out of it,” she said. “Whatever you’re up to, you know I won’t stop you. I just want you to be careful.”
               “I will,” said Namjoon. They drove in silence for a while before he said, “I’m taking us out for dinner tomorrow to celebrate Geongmin’s graduation.”
               “I can’t wait to see her. Why didn’t she come with you today?”
               “She’s busy with interviews today,” said Namjoon. He chuckled at his mother’s shocked face. “I know, she doesn’t waste any time, right?”
               “Good for her,” his mom said.
               After getting home and helping his mother settle into her new apartment he had bought for her next door, Namjoon spent some time getting ready for his own meeting. Jin arrived early, then Taehyung shortly after. Namjoon served them drinks and then sat with them around his dining table.
               “So, tell us the plan,” said Jin.
“Hawthorne’s collection is underground,” said Namjoon. “Behind a safe door that only opens with a password and thumbprint.”
               “How are we going to get Hawthorne’s thumbprint?” asked Jin.
               “We won’t,” said Namjoon. “Because that’s not the print we need. The only thumbprint that will open the door belongs to his son, Laurel Hawthorne. Laurel is the heir to the entire collection.”
               “Ah! Laurel Hawthorne!” Taehyung exclaimed. “I’ve worked with him in the past. Not a fan.”
               “You’re going to have to meet with him one last time to get the prints,” said Namjoon. “We’ll set up a meeting with him, where you’ll fake a sale. We’ll have someone hiding nearby with a tranquilizer gun. Once we take him out, you’ll nab his prints and we’ll be out of there.”
               “This sounds dangerous,” said Jin.
               “Inside the collection room is where the real trouble begins,” Namjoon continued. “Hawthorne uses a state-of-the-art technology to protect his collection. The security system inside uses gaseous detection. Once the door is opened, the room fills with a harmless gas. If there’s any kind of movement behind the barricades of the artifacts, another gas is released into the air, turning it toxic. From there, the person inside the chamber will only have a few minutes before dying. Once the security system is neutralized, and the cameras are placed in a loop, we’ll be able to just go in and take what we want. We’ll obviously replace everything with fakes, especially the Sky’s Eye, the item we need to leave with.”
               “Ah, the Sky’s Eye,” said Taehyung. “I had a feeling the necklace was what this was about. But I thought only one man has been in possession of the Sky’s Eye for ten years.”
               “You are correct,” said Jin. “Hawthorne is the very same man.”
Taehyung’s eyes widened as he made the connection.
“Hawthorne is Montgomery,” he whispered. “So, this job isn’t just for the necklace.”
“We’ll do all of this on the day of Hawthorne’s party, while he’s distracted,” said Namjoon. “We just need to find a way to get an invitation.”
               “Yes, that will be difficult,” said Jin.
               “Do you know anyone who’s going?” Namjoon asked Jin.
               “I might,” he said.
               “Do you think it’s someone you might be able to go with as their date?” asked Namjoon.
               “Oh, trust me. I would die to be this man’s date. He is the most handsome man in the world, after all,” said Jin. Namjoon narrowed his eyes. Jin burst into laughter, slapping his knee and pulling an envelope from the pocket inside his jacket.
               “You had an invitation all this time?” asked Taehyung.
               “Of course!” said Jin, laughing and slapping his knee. Namjoon shook his head but couldn’t help a fond smile from pulling at his lips.
___________________________________________________________
Six months of physical rehab, a year of therapy, and 2 surgeries later, I was finally able to get back to some normalcy.  Of course the nightmares were frequent every night and of course the kids, especially Kelly, suffered a great deal of it as well.
During my rehabilitation in physical therapy, I had done a court case against James Woods for unprofessional hiring and neglect of care for his client’s safety and managed to sue his ass for over $275,000. Not only that but Hollywood Records fired his arse and once his name became public, no record company wanted to do business with him ever again.
But of course the main trail against Steve was still to come. Due to the restrictions of his uncle no longer able to help him out anymore, Steve’s bail money was set for $75,000.  And since no one could afford to bail him out, Steve remained in prison until the trial date set for March 19th.
I was currently sitting on a tire swing in the barn at mom’s and Misha’s place.  Since the news were running my story everywhere, Jack thought it best to keep us and the kids away from the city press so we went to his parent’s farm to hide away from the stress. The sky was cloudy and it was slightly chilly out today but I barely acknowledged it due to my nerves as the trial date was drawing near. I soon felt a jacket come around my shoulders and a soft voice said.
“Reminds me of when you rain out during that rainstorm when Prenter revealed your secret to us.”
“I’d feel a lot better if you didn’t mention that arsehole’s name right now dad.”
“You’re right I’m sorry. But hey be thankful this time you’re in a barn and not out in the pouring rain. After that day you got sick for 4 days.”
“Yeah. And you and Deacy were there to take care of me the entire time. Hell you skipped an entire rehearsal to take care of me.”
“You’re my daughter (n/n). I’ll always be there to take care of you. Even when you don’t want me to.” He said as he leaned up against the tire swing and swayed us from side to side.
Since being released from the hospital, while Deacy went home to tell Ronnie and the rest of the kids I was fine, and Brian had to go back for his solo tour, Roger elected to stay with me and the rest of the family to help take care of us.
He called Dominque and his side chic of his decision to stay with me till the trail was over and the two women accepted his decision (which was a shocker on Debbie’s part. I knew Dominque understood).
“What’s going on in that head of yours lovey?” he asked me. He stopped the swaying and came in front of me, his hands holding onto the rope.
“I’m terrified dad.” I admitted.  “With the court date—I know I’m going to have to face him and it—fucking terrifies me. You know he’s gonna be looking at me the entire time. But I can’t just abandon the trial, otherwise he’ll walk free with hardly a sentence.” He sighed deeply.
“I know this isn’t easy for you. Hell if it were up to me, I would’ve never allowed it to come this far. I’m your father and I failed to protect you.”
“But you didn’t know dad. In truth it’s really my fault. I should’ve spoken up about this to you and the guys before it escalated it the way it did.”
“Hold it right there. Don’t go blaming yourself now (Y/n). This was in no way your fault.”
“Then it shouldn’t be yours.” He nodded.  “I just……what if I don’t have the strength to stay in the same room as him? Or what if the law gives him a slap on the wrist like they’ve done before?” Roger came around and wrapped an arm around my collar bone, his chin resting on my head as his other hand rubbed my left arm up and down.
“Because unlike before where they couldn’t prove he did those things, the news has proof of his attempted murder of you. Your lawyers have pulled up all the evidence of the additional charges that you and Jack want to charge him with, he can’t win this time. Your prosecutors won’t allow that to happen.”
“I just wish Freddie was here to help me with this.”
“So do I love. So do I. But do you know what he’d tell you right now?” I looked up at him and he looked right at me. “He’d tell you. ‘Buck up darling. You go to that courtroom, look that fucker in the eye. And show him he didn’t win. That he can’t win. For while he may be the Big Bad Wolf, you are the Lioness Queen.’”
Dad hugged me and I placed my hand on his arm that was still wrapped across my collar bone and leaned my head against his chest.
*March 19th, 1994. One hour till court hearing*
Back in New York City; Dad, Jack, and myself had just arrived at the New York airport. Waiting for us was my lawyer Mr. Barnes and the rest of the Prosecuting team.  And of course the media wanted a piece of me before the court hearing.  So Jack and Roger were sandwiching me out of the eyes of the media, while my lawyers were diverting the cameras away from me till we got to the car.
“Mrs. Kline do you have anything to say on behalf of this case!”
“Do you believe Steve Harrison should be given the death penalty?”
“Did you engage any intimate relationships with Mr. Harrison?”
“My client has no comments at this time!” Mr. Barnes stated firmly to the press as Jack quickly guided me inside the car.  Roger came in after him followed by Mr. Barnes and the others.
The driver immediately headed for the courthouse and Mr. Barnes told me.
“Alright so Mrs. Kline. Just to review you are still willingly to make your testimony on the stand, correct?”
“Correct.”
“Now I know you’ve been through a lot and his DA team will try to push your buttons but I must strictly advise you to keep your composure and your temper because if you bat an eye once or raise your voice for any reason, the DA will use that to their advantage.”
“I’ll do my best. Truthfully, I just want this whole mess over with so that I never have to see him again.” Jack took my hand in both of his giving it a comforting squeeze, while dad rubbed my shoulder.
“Understood ma’am.” The rest of the drive was pretty silent until we arrived at the courthouse.
As we entered inside not only were their lawyers, security guards, and various other people there for other trials, the rest of the NYC press was also there.
“THERE SHE IS!!! THE ROCK ANGEL!!!” A female reporter called out.  Once again we were horded by a swarm of cameras and microphones/tape recorders being shoved in our faces.
“My client refuses to speak or make any comments at this time! Now all of you please move back! Can we get security over here!” soon enough police and security made their way through the crowd and tried to back off the vultures.  But New York press people are as tough as they come, when they want something they’ll do anything to get it.
They proved themselves strong and determined to get a word out of me, but I just held my shades over my eyes and kept my head down to avoid any cameras getting a picture of my face.  Finally after what felt like forever, we arrived at the room where my trial was being held.
Already the room was packed with people, the media that was allowed to document this case had their cameras set up and their recorders ready to record what they needed.
My attorneys guided me towards the desk where we would be sitting at while Jack and my dad took their seats in the crowd just two rows behind us.  I sat down inbetween Mr. Barnes and Mr. Wilson, the leading Prosecutor and we all waited for the moment of truth for Steve to arrive.
About 20min. later, the DA team came in and walking in between a very large fat man and a thinner older man with white hair was Steve Harrison. In chains and in that infamous orange jumpsuit.
When his eyes looked directly at me, I once again saw that empty look in his eyes.  There was just nothing there in those piercing brown eyes of his.  But spreading across his face was a smug grin. It was faint but I could see it clear as day as he kept staring me down.
“Don’t look at him. He’s trying to provoke you.” Mr. Wilson, the Head Prosecutor whispered to me. “Just look at the Judge and block him out.” As the courtroom continued to fill in with people as well as the 12 jurors, I felt my heart beating faster and my palms grew sweater by the second.
“He’s still looking over at me, I can feel it.”
“Again don’t let him get under your skin. I’m told you’re called Mama Lioness for a reason, now let me see that.” Mr. Wilson whispered to me again.  I took a deep breath and recomposed myself. “Atta girl.” He encouraged me.  As 9o’clock struck, the bailiff said.
“All rise for the Honorable Judge Mayweather.” We all stood up and soon coming in was a man around his 50’s, maybe even 60’s, wearing prescription glasses which emphasized his blue eyes.  He was a tall, lean man standing well over 6ft tall.
“You may now be seated.” He said with a soft but commanding tone as he took his seat at the podium.  We all sat down and he opened the files. “The charges against the defendant Steve Harrison include attempted 1st degree murder, aggravated stalking, and 1st degree kidnapping. How does the defendant plea?”
“Not guilty your honor.” Steve’s obese lawyer proclaimed. Of course he’d plead not guilty.
“Very well. We shall began with the opening statements from each side. Prosecution, you have the floor.”
“Thank you your honor.” Mr. Barnes stated as he stood up. He paced around the front of the courtroom and made his opening statement, “Ladies and gentlemen of the court; Obsession is a dangerous thing. We all feel it. Whether it’s for the next best product, or for someone we want in our lives. And my client has been a victim of one man’s obsession for more than a year and a half. The defendant Steve Harrison not only put her through a living hell but also her entire family. Harassing, assaulting and even kidnapping my client’s eldest child. All for the sake of a delusion he had in his mind. But he had the conscious to know what he was doing was wrong. Mr. Harrison plotted, articulated and chose his methods on how to harm my client and her family and last June he almost achieved his goal when he put those two bullets in her before a live audience.”
“Thank you Mr. Barnes.” Judge Mayweather spoke.  Mr. Barnes came and sat down beside me as the judge continued, “Defense council, you may give your opening statement.” Steve’s lawyer stood up and stood before the court.
“Abuse, fear, and control. My client has dealt with these issues his entire life. His uncle manipulated him into pleasing his every demand for he was the only father-figure he had in his life. My client wanted to do everything to please his uncle’s every demand. But it was not also just his uncle, it was also the so called ‘Rock Angel’ that had seduced him into thinking she actually cared for him.”
Excuse me?! I almost wanted to raise my voice and call Steve’s lawyer out for his accusations but one stern look from Mr. Wilson told me to keep my mouth shut, less I risk making myself look bad before the jury and call this a mistrial.
“Not only that but also the threat’s from the Angel’s husband also caused my client great fear and anxiety. He felt like he needed to defend himself so as we begin this trial I ask you, the jurors to see that it was my client who was forced into committing these acts as a means of protection. Not out of his own desire, but for his own safety. Thank you.” He bowed his head before taking his seat.
“Right then. We shall now begin with the 1st charge of attempted murder. Prosecutor Wilson, do you have your first witness?”
“We do your honor. Prosecution calls Jack Kline to the stand.” Mr. Barnes stated.  Jack stood up from the audience and proceeded towards the stand.  Once he was there, Mr. Wilson held the Holy Bible and held it out to Jack, who then placed his right hand on top of it while raising his left hand in the air.  “Do you solemnly swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth so help you God?”
“I do.” Jack replied before taking his seat at the stand. It was then Mr. Barnes came up and proceeded with the direct examination.
“Mr. Kline can you tell us what happened prior to the concert shooting last June?”
“My wife (Y/n) was finishing up the last leg of her tour. On March 4th, 1992 we received a letter from Steve Harrison.”
“And what did the letter say?”
“It said a lot of things. About her about me but what really caught our eyes was he wrote and I quote. ‘I’ve had enough of this bullshit. If I can’t have you, no one can. So you better perform with one eye on the audience and one eye on the shadows. I’m going to kill you, you fucking bitch’.”
“And according to you and your cousin Jensen, who was acting as her head security. He tried to harm her, is that true?” Mr. Barnes asked.
“Yes. At her show in Atlanta he snuck in through the screen room and tried to kidnap her.” Mr. Barnes nodded and said to the jury.
“After his arrest in Atlanta, police reports said they found zip-ties, a bottle of chloroform and a 6in steel blade hunting knife. He was detained for only 8 weeks when his bail was made by an anonymous payer.” He turned back to Jack. “What happened the day of the concert at Madison Square Garden?”
At that point I saw Jack tense up.  He shifted uncomfortably before he said.
“My wife was up on stage performing her favorite Queen song, which she made a cover of per Freddie’s request, and just before she ended the song. Steve, in police uniform, came up behind my wife and shot her in the back. As she lay there on the floor he shot her again in the stomach. Then I—” he trailed off as he glared towards Steve who looked at him blankly.
His eyes were just soulless as they stared up at Jack.  While Jack’s eyes were full of hatred.
“I then watched him take her wedding ring right off her finger before smirking at me. Like he was proud that he took my wife’s life and the symbol of her being my wife, my equal.”
“Thank you, nothing further your honor. Mr. Barnes walked back to his seat.  Now it was Steve’s lawyer’s time to cross examine my husband’s statement.
“You said that Steve wrote you a letter. Directed to both you and your wife is that correct?”
“Yes. Yes he did.”
“Said some crude stuff about you and your wife, correct?”
“Yes. Called her some stuff I’d really rather not stay and do things that no other man should do to her.”
“Objection!” Mr. Barnes exclaimed.
“Overruled.” Judge Mayweather said.
“Ladies and gentlemen I have here in my hand a copy of the letter written by my client. It is a hefty one I give you that but let me direct your attention to page 3, 4th paragraph. My client has written in detail. ‘On Halloween night of 1992, your husband physically beat me and then with no reason at all, sicked your dogs on me. I had to get 25 stitches on my leg and 30 on my right arm.’ Did you order your dogs to attack my client?”
“Only because he broke into my house after he assaulted me first!”
“Ladies and gentlemen I also have here in my hands the police report of that night. Let the record show that my client in no shape or form, physically break into the Rock Angel’s home . The door was wide open, there were no security cameras. So who’s to say that the dogs didn’t attack my client outside of the house?” I looked to the jury and some of them were actually believing what the Defense was saying. “Now Mr. Kline you do realize that dog attacks are a serious offense. Especially according to California law, right?”
“Objection your honor! Steve Harrison still entered the premise illegally by accounts to his restraining order!” Mr. Wilson stated as he stood up.
“That is true. Defense counselor best you alternate your question on that remark.” Take that you son of a bitch.  Steve’s lawyer turned back to Jack and he said.
“But you still confirm that you allowed your dogs to attack my client?”
“Yes. Because your client was about to attack my 6 year old daughter and 2 year old twin sons.”
“Nothing further your honor.” Steve’s lawyer said.  Jack was then allowed to go back to sit beside Roger.
The court continued on and after briefing for a half hour recess, the trial continued and finally I was allowed to take the stand. I swore under oath and my lawyer questioned me.
“Now Mrs. Kline what can you tell us about Steve Harrison when your first met him? Did you at all have anything to do with hiring him?”
“No. His uncle hired him as a favor for his sister, to ensure that Steve finally got himself a job.” I took a pause there thinking back to the day I first met Steve. “At first he seemed like a nice guy. He seemed to know what he was doing so it wasn’t like he was unqualified. He got me to my appointments on time, kept my schedule in check. And remained professional for the first year and a half of being hired.”
“Now you said he remained professional after a year and a half. Care to elaborate on what changed between you two?”
“It was 2 months after the Freddie Mercury tribute concert, the start of summer 1992. I was recording my last album ‘Fly High Mercury’. I barely slept in a week; Steve was there helping me out. We talked about the album, then it transitioned into family talk. As we were talking he started to get a little too close to me, actually even pining me up against the wall of the studio. Next thing I knew, his lips were on mine. He was kissing me without my consent.”
“And as you claim, everything went downhill from there?”
“Yes. The gifts, the constant phone calls, the harassment in the studio. Going off on delusions telling me things like why did I marry Jack Kline? That our kids should’ve been from his sperm. Telling me how in the music industry singers are always cheating on their spouses and I’m no different. That we could have a separate life together while I continue to rise to the top.”
“Which meant you sleeping with him while he helped make your name bigger?”
“Yes. But I refused. Because I’m not like those women who will sleep around to get what she wants. I’ll get it my way through my resources and strengths.” Mr. Barnes nodded at me with a slight grin at the corner of his face.
“Nothing further your honor.”  Now it was the defense attorney’s turn.
“You’ll get through the music industry through your own resources and your own strengths.” He asked in more of a questioning tone as he came up towards me.
“Along with the support and love of my family.” I added.
“Interesting. Mrs. Kline isn’t it true that you first began your career with the help of Queen’s help?”
“Objection your honor! How is this relevant to this case?” Mr. Wilson proclaimed.
“I’ll be getting to that your honor but Mrs. Kline must answer my question.” The greasy, obese man stated as he leaned closer towards my podium.  I could just smell the disgusting cigar breath off his lips.
“Mrs. Kline, please answer the question.” The judge told me to do.
“They—helped me with my confidence in getting in front of an audience. But at the time I had no idea until hours before the show that’s what they were going to be doing.”
“And then afterwards you continued to use Queen’s resources to help you gain the fame you got in just under a year when most artists especially female singers can hardly get to that degree of fame on their own?”
“Objection your honor! He’s badgering the victim!” Mr. Wilson tried to suade the judge but judge Mayweather overruled it.
“I—we did have the same manager. But how is that different in the case when John Reid was managing both Queen and Elton John over 20 years ago?”
“Mr. Russell, I do hope you’re going somewhere with this because at this point you’re starting to try my patience.”
“Your honor this woman claims to use resources and her own strength, when, in fact, she manipulates men into getting what she wants in life. You said that you hadn’t slept in a week when recording the album? As we all know lack of sleep causes delusions and false memories of events. What if you merely imagined that my client tried to kiss you that night in the studio? And then afterwards had become so paranoid that you antagonized my client to be the villain in this court case!”
“I know what happened as clear as day that night in the studio. And I wasn’t imagining what I saw!” I snapped furiously at him.
“Mrs. Kline control your temper or I will have you placed under contempt of court!” Judge Mayweather warned me.
“Nothing further your honor.” Steve’s lawyer spoke before returning to his chair.  I was then called off back to my chair and I brushed my fingers through my hair anxiously.
“Just breathe. Don’t let the jury think they might’ve seen a false allegation in this case.” Mr. Barnes whispered to me.  I took a few deep breaths before recomposing myself.
Finally it was Steve’s turn to take the stand.
His defense team started off by asking pretty much the same questions Mr. Barnes asked me.  How he got the job, what was it like working for me.  And of course Steve tried to paint himself as the victim and I’ll admit he was a damn good actor.  Some of the jury was actually swayed by his performance.
I was petrified that even here in the Supreme Court of New York, Steve Harrison was gonna walk away with a slap on the wrist like he has been for the past 2 years.
For five days the trail continued on the same way, people taking their turn on the stands, each side providing their evidence to the jury with each charge we were doing against Steve.
On the 6th day it was time for the final claims as well as closing statements.
“Mrs. Kline, can you describe to us the day when your daughter disappeared from school?” Mr. Barnes asked me.
“Well….” I adjusted the microphone in front of me and said. “I was busy planning my next upcoming tour and Jack had to work overtime at the car dealers. But we had asked my cousin in law Jared go pick her up. The school requires a full on sign-in sheet of additional guardians who are allowed to pick up the students in case the parents can’t pick up their students.”
“And you had Mr. Ackles name to that list correct?”
“Yes. Along with his wife, brother, sister in law and my in-laws as well as the remaining members of Queen.”
“And how did you know that Kelly had been taken my Steve?”
“Jared had called me from the school and told me that Kelly had already been picked up by someone and after an hour and a half, that’s when I got the call from Steve himself. Telling me to meet him at Bull Creek.”
“And did at any time did you give Steve Harrison full permission to pick up your daughter?”
“No. None of my Rock Angel team had authorization to go to Kelly’s school.” He then pulled out a file of Steve’s forged note with my signature on it that gave him clearance to pick Kelly up.
“Now as you can see here, I hold in my hand the actual documented note of Mr. Harrison’s forged letter of Pick-Up for one Kelly Kline. Her school codes states, that if there isn’t any documentation of said people to pick up the child in question, they must provide a note signed by the parent themselves in order to pick up the child.”
“Objection!” Steve’s DA proclaimed.
“Overruled.” Judge Mayweather stated.
“Knowing this; Mr. Harrison printed out the letter of documented proof that he had access to pick up Kelly Kline. He then forged Mrs. Kline’s signature as you’ll see up close here.” On the overhead projector he had both my real signature and Steve’s forged signature with my name on it. “Now as you can see it’s practically identical. But if you look very closely there is a difference.” He then put a magnifying glass up to my last name.  “You’ll notice how she writes the K with a curved slant at the top right line for the K itself. While on Mr. Harrison’s forged signature the corner line is completely straight.”
“Objection your honor! Everyone writes their signatures slightly different every time. This shows no proof that my client forged her signature.” Steve’s DA proclaimed.
“If I may your honor before I was interrupted by my assistant council, I have more proof on why this letter was not signed by my client.”
“Proceed.” The judge granted him.  He then removed the two comparisons and pulled up a paper where I was forced to give my signature ten times.
“As you can see here this is my client’s handwritten signature. Now look at the K’s.” he pulled the magnifying glass up to the top corner line to show each one had that exact same curve.  “Each one of her top corners has that slight curve to them. Ten. Times my client has written her name. And all ten times each K had that curve on the top corner. Not once does she alternate how she curves it, or accidentally do a straight slant. Each. Top. Corner. Is curved.” The jurors all looked at each other, some of them nodding.  “So it proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that Mr. Harrison forged my client’s signature to gain access to her daughter, kidnapping her in order to gain my client’s attention. Forcing her to a remote area where god knows what he could’ve had in mind. But my client isn’t some damsel in distress.” Mr. Barnes turned to look up at me.
“Mrs. Kline you may return to the Prosecutor’s table.” As I stood up and walked down Judge Mayweather called for closing statements. Steve’s DA came up and the fat man stated.
“We all have our obsessions; we all make mistakes. But my client is not insane. He gave Mrs. Kline everything she ever wanted, he kept things professional and it was all due to the paranoia of a celebrity that my client Steve Harrison was bullied, manipulated and forced to take drastic measures to defend himself from the public eye. He is not the villain in this story, he is a victim. And it is up to you, the jury, on who you wish to believe. The money of a celebrity, or the desperate plea of a victim corrupted by the music industry.”
My eyes narrowed at the obese man but I turned my head away as my Prosecutor Mr. Wilson stood up.  The middle aged African American paced the courtroom as he said.
“Celebrities aren’t just about the money. It’s not as easy as we may think it is to get as big as they are. They go through struggles financially, mentally and sometimes physically. Now my client did have help but she had her fair share of struggles. As a young woman in an all-male industry they wanted to change her image, to make her follow the typical female artist crowd of showing too much skin, exploiting themselves. But the Rock Angel refused to let that be her image. And she kept that image strong, but there’s also another risk of being a woman in the spotlight. She’s more likely to attacks. Not because she asks for it because she doesn’t. Steve Harrison saw (Y/n) Kline not as she was trying to be but who she was. A famous person whom he believed belonged to him. He used his uncle’s position as her manager to get close to her, and meticulously planned to worm his way into her life. But when she refused to accept his dominance, he snapped. He stalked, harassed, kidnapped her daughter, and finally attempted to murder him. All because she said the one thing men don’t like a woman to say. No. No she wasn’t going to fall for him, No she wasn’t going to leave her adoring husband and kids for him, No she wouldn’t be his. And Steve Harrison took offense to that. And if he goes free, then what’s to stop other men like him going free that don’t know what the word ‘no’ means?”
Mr. Wilson came back and sat down beside me.  I placed my hand on top of his and he gave me a soft smirk and nod.
“Alright, jurors the decision is all up to you. We’ll reconvene once the jury has reached their verdict.” Soon the 12 jurors left the courtroom as did the rest of us.
Jack, Roger, myself and my legal team were in the court cafeteria drinking some coffee as we waited for the verdict to come in.  Jack and I sat close to each other while Roger sat across from us.  He was currently reading some magazine meanwhile my stomach was tossing and turning.
“Six days and it all comes down to this. God I feel like I’m gonna throw up.”
“Don’t give up just yet baby. With the forged signature and the note they found at his apartment of his plan to shoot you, there’s no way he’s gonna walk scot-free.” He kissed the corner of my lips as we continued to wait.
20 long minutes later and Mr. Barnes’ cellphone rings. He reached in his coat pocket and picks it up.
“Yes?” he straightens himself up. “Yeah. Uh-huh. Alright we’ll be there Sam.” He snaps at us.  “It’s in.” my heart stops as the three of us look at each other and quickly stand up.
Back at the courtroom, everyone is silent as the jurors come back into the room.  The leading female juror, an Asian woman around her mid-40’s held the paper in her hands and handed it to the bailiff.  He walked over to the judge who signed it before giving it back to him. The bailiff walked back to the Asian woman and Judge Mayweather asked.
“What say you?” I held onto Mr. Barnes’ and Mr. Wilson’s hands as tight as I could, my legs were shaking under the desk as I looked at the jury. She looked down at the paper and read out loud.
“In the matter of Steve Harrison vs. New York. We the jury find on the account of attempted 1st degree murder—guilty.” I let out a choked gasp. “On the count of aggravated stalking, we find the defendant……guilty.” At this point tears were pooling under my lashes. “On the count of kidnapping in the 1st degree. Guilty.”
Thank God! He was guilty on all charges! Some people in the crowd even cheered at Steve’s conviction.  On his end, his face dropped entirely as he lowered his head in shame. His DA’s shook their heads in defeat, his lawyer patted his shoulders and whispered to him.
“Then by the state of New York, I hereby sentence Mr. Harrison to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Court is adjourned.” Judge Mayweather stated before banging his gavel once and left the podium.
I hugged Mr. Wilson and thanked him repeatedly.  He embraced me back and congratulated me.  I then turned to Mr. Barnes and embraced him and he gladly embraced me back.  I turned towards Jack and Rog and they were elated with victory.  I went over to Jack and the first thing we did was kiss.
He picked me up and spun me around, our lips still connected with each other’s as Steve was being taken away.  We separated and I made sure to lock my eyes on him and he turned to look at me.  I narrowed my eyes at him and lifted my chin up high, showing him that I wasn’t weak, that he lost and he’d never hurt or even see me or my family ever again.
Soon he disappeared from the room to be transported to the New York penitentiary for attempted murder, aggravated stalking and kidnapping in the 1st degree.
As we left the courtroom, my lawyer James Barnes said to the media that Steve Harrison had been found guilty.
“Mrs. Kline, anything you’d like to say?” before Mr. Barnes could say anything, I placed my hand on his arm and stood before the cameras.
“What happened to me, happens to everyone around the world. Most of the victims are women and some are men. They feel like they’re alone when this happens to them, but they don’t have to be. So this is my message to those who are victims of stalking, assault, or abuse. You are not alone. There are thousands of others like you out there, but if you don’t speak up, you’ll end up one of the millions of unlucky ones that end up dead. Which is why I’m starting up my own organization. ANGELS AGAINST STALKING. To help victims, like me and you, to get the proper care and help you need to protect yourselves. Even when the law can’t do that.”
I walked down the steps of the courthouse with reporters coming after me with follow up questions about my new organization and more on Steve.
But all I did was get into the car and made a phone call to a special friend.  The phone rang a couple times before he answered.
‘Hello?’
“Miami. I need a favor.”
In the next couple of month thanks to some investors that Miami knew, I had set up ANGELS AGAINST STALKING in 3 locations.  One in West London, one in New York, and the other in Tokyo, Japan.  The media was spreading the news of my organization far and wide and I personally saw to it that the Officers who would work there were not only a part of the city’s police, but took the stalking cases seriously.
They were solemnly swore that if a person calls in regularly for someone stalking or threatening them, they need to take it seriously.  If verbal threats were told or they violated a restraining order, they were to take immediate action and give the victim protection.
A profiler was also assigned to ensure that no one took advantage of this system so that no money needed to be wasted on a false story and an innocent person didn’t have to suffer.
People who had been stalked in the past were brought in and coached in how to become therapists because no one but a victim would understand what a true victim is going through.
Soon enough by the start of the summer 1994, ANGELS AGAINST STALKING was up and running and phone calls were coming in and donations from any of my concerts would go to this organization to help keep it running and maybe one day the laws would change against stalking and law enforcement would take it seriously instead of brushing it off or accepting bribes from the assailants family.
If there’s anything that this hellish experience has taught me, it’s that you can’t let your attacker, abuser or stalker show them you have lost the battle.  You need to keep fighting, by any means necessary.  Even if law enforcement can’t protect you, find a way to protect yourself.
Surround yourself with loved ones, take self-defense classes, keep those you love closest to you.  Then when the time comes, document what happens and finally show everyone in law enforcement that you were right.
Wireless Tour Guide System - Audio Tour Guide Microphone
When it comes to visit of any industrial site, the noise ratio is very high because of massive production of materials and machine operation. It has to be because the plant has been set up for constant production of products. If any of your channel partner or business partner wants to visit the plant, he or she would be needed to explain of the current ongoing activities of the factory of the plant. The visitors may not able to be explained properly due to consistent noise in the factory premises and just because delegates visiting the plant, one cannot afford to shut down the plant's operation as well.Wireless Tour guide Systems allows a factory or shop floor tour, to be executed on the production floor of a high noise manufacturing facility without the need to shout to be heard.To communicate clearly and at the same time keeping the plant's operation on, we have the perfect solution for Industrial visits, which is "Tour Guide System".This system is UHF based signal-processing system and works on any Kind of geographical conditions.We have Tour Guide Wireless Sound Systems of William Sound Inc, USA customized by Translation India based on world's best available technology. Attack on Titanland
Eren and his friends are on a class trip to Titanland! A theme park that for some reason has mascots in the shape of giant monsters.
(So the final season is depressing me and I had a dream about Eren going to an Attack on Titan theme park so here’s just a fluff fic for it)
“Eren, wake up we’re almost at the park.” Mikasa nudged the boy as their bus rolled into the parking lot.
“Huh? What…?” Eren rubbed the sleep out of his eyes as he looked around, disoriented as if coming out of another world.
“I swear you always fall asleep on car rides.” Armin chuckled, nudging him from the other side. “Did you forget where you are? The class trip to Titanland?”
“Titanland?” Eren repeated, his thoughs slowly returning to him. “Oh yeah.” He glanced out the window to the large billboard advertizing the front of the theme park and the long-haired green-eyed giant that appeared to be the mascot for the park. “Whose bright idea was it to make a theme park and base the rides off of a bunch of monsters?”
“I think they look kind of neat.” Mikasa gave a small smile, looking up at the Mascot Titan.
“Some people are scared of roller coasters, the Titans look scary and intimidating like that but they also look big and strong, like they know what they’re doing. I’d say using them for roller coasters is a fitting idea.” Armin laughed along as well.
“Alright class, settle down.” Hange called over the speaker from the front of the bus. “Now you have free reign when we get into the park but do try to stick together and use the buddy system, enjoy the rides! Personally I recommend the Thunder Spear, at almost one hundred fifty miles per hour it’s one of the top ten fastest roller coasters in the northern hemisphere!”
“You’re supposed to be the chaperone, not the tour guide.” Levi gave a grump groan that was half-caught over the loudspeaker before the other chaperone took the microphone for himself. “Alright listen up you brats. Don’t get lost, don’t wreck anything and stick together, now get outta here.” He tossed the transmitter back onto the hook right before a hoard of kids rushed out of the bus.
“So, what should we do first?” Eren looked to Armin, he’d designated himself the group’s planner so they could see as much of the park as they could during their short stay.
“Well, if you don’t mind there is one ride I’ve always wanted to see.” Armin held up the map and pointed to a spot of blue.
“’Paradise Sea’?” Eren quirked a brow. “Pretty relaxed for a monster-themed theme park isn’t it?”
“It’s the world’s largest tubing route, think of it as a good warmup.” The blonde boy grinned ear to ear, neither he nor Mikasa could object to a smile like that.
Soon the trio was in the water, Mikasa held the handles of her tube to one of the handles each of Eren and Armin’s tubes. “Eren you hold on too so you don’t float away and get lost.” She grumbled sternly.
Eren sighed “I won’t get lost.”
“You always get lost.” Mikasa objected.
“You do kind of always get lost.” Armin gave an amused chuckle.
“Ugh, enough about me. What are we going to do next Mr. Planner?” Eren looked at Armin, map still in the blonde’s hands.
“Well we could try the park’s signature coaster.” He pointed to a spot not too far away on the map with a brief description of the ride.
“The Behemoth, huh?” Eren read aloud, looking at the Mascot Titan from the entrance. “Man that dude need a haircut.” He mumbled, running a hand through his own hair.
“Among all the rides it’s got the best mix of height and speed, it’s a must-ride for a lot of roller coaster fanatics across the country. “ Armin wiggled excitedly in his tube.
“I don’t know, I don’t really like heights.” Eren sighed.
A snort from a few feet away caught his attention. “Why’d you even come then?” Jean shouted over, his group with Marco, Sasha, and Connie floating a few feet away with their own tubes lightly tied together in a square.
“Mind your own business!” Eren shouted, standing on his tube and glaring down at Jean.
“Why don’t you make me!?” The other boy also stood, nose inches from Eren’s.
“No standing in the tubes!” Levi gave a bored warning as he and Hange floated by, kicking both of their inner tubes and making them fall back down into them ass-first with a splash.
The shock of the kick forced Mikasa’s hand from off Eren’s handle, his tube floating away from the little triangle the trio had formed. “EREN!” Mikasa screamed as his tube drifted towards another path along the lazy river.
“It’ll be fine guys, we’ll meet up later!” Eren shouted over the sound of churning water before the foliage blocked him from view.
“He got lost again…” Armin gave a defeated sigh and shook his head.
A short bit later, Mikasa and Armin got changed back into their normal clothes, exiting the river ride with no sign of Eren at the entrance. “I can’t believe we lost Eren…” A pall was cast over Mikasa’s face.
“I had a meetup spot for us but I don’t think I got a chance to tell Eren, I’m sure we’ll find him when it comes time to meet up for dinner, let’s just walk around for now.” The blonde chuckled nervously.
Strolling down Titanstreet. LDA the main avenue that led off into the various hubs that held the rides and attractions, the duo passed by several of the park’s most popular stops along the way.
“Hey, hey, come on, no bumping.” Came the voice of a tired-sounding woman with long messy hair at a stall for electric cars. A sign above the ride read “The Go-Kart Titan” with a picture of a quadrupedal monster with a long face. The poor woman manning the ride looked like she hadn’t had a break in a long time and could barely stand up.
“Come on step right up, if you’ve got the courage to take on THE BEAST~” A blonde man with a beard and glasses called into the crowd, advertizing a salt and pepper shaker ride that that spun the riders around as if they were a baseball in a fast pitch, the sign on the front displaying a hair giant with long arms. “You look like you’ve got some courage little lady, care to give it a try?” The man reached out to Mikasa.
“No thanks.” She said with a surprising chill that sent a shiver down the older man’s spine, her face dark and miserable.
“S-Sorry about her, we’re looking for our friend.” Armin chuckled, rubbing the back of his head.
“Man, kids today sure are scary…” The man dusted off his glasses and shuddered.
“Hey Armin!” A voice called out to the two from the crowd. “Do you wanna try this ride with me?” Bertoldt asked, looking up at a huge tower ride that dropped a row of people from several stories up before propelling them back into the air and dropping them again. The sign read “The Colossus” and showed a humongous giant with no skin peeking over the park walls. “It looks exciting, but I’m kinda scared to go alone.” The tall man chuckled nervously.
“Sorry, we’re looking for Eren right now.” Armin smiled at Bertoldt and shrugged. “Why not ask Reiner to go with you?”
“He’s got his hands full with the kids there.” Bertoldt chuckled nervously, pointing to the burly blonde who had a younger child on each arm, tugging him in opposite directions.
“Come on, I wanna go on the Armored Cat ride!” Gabi tugged Reiner’s hand towards a a fast-moving ride featuring a giant covered in plate armor that made you feel like you were in an armored car busting through walls.
“Awww, but let’s go on the Jaw Snapper first!” Falco huffed, tugging Reiner in the other direction, pointing to a a ride advertized by a monster with a wild mane that spun the riders in a jaw-like centrifuge.
“I think I should probably go help him actually.” Bertoldt chuckled to himself, heading over to the trio.
“Chill Bert, I got this one.” A voice called over the tall man’s shoulder. “Besides, Annie’s got business with you, she wants to meet you over at the Tunnel of Love.” Ymir pointed her thumb back towards a sign depicting a female giant in a cave full of shining crystals.
“Oh, uhh right… thanks Ymir!” Bertoldt blushed, heading over to the ride.
“That’s really nice of you Ymir.” Armin grinned at the woman.
“Nice ain’t got nothing to do with it.” Ymir cracked her knuckles with a grin. “Reiner’s gonna owe me and I’m meeting Historia here for dinner later tonight so he’s gonna foot the bill.”  She headed over to Reiner and the kids, ebdning down to take Falco’s hand. “Come on Falco I’ll take you on the Jaw Snapper, Reiner and Gabi can go on the other one.”
“Ehehe… she can be a bit scary sometimes herself…” Armin chuckled nervously watching Ymir’s machinations unfold.
Meanwhile back on Paradise Sea. Eren slowly woke up, finding himself trapped in a current that kept his tube going around in circles. “Huh… guess I fell asleep again…” He looked up at the clear sky, wincing as he felt his skin tingle when he blinked. “Ow that’s right, Armin had the sunscreen…” He grumbled, the sunburn giving the spots under his eyes a reddish hue, wrinkles forming around the burn that made the skin around his eyes look raw.
“Now… how do I get out of here…” The boy mumbled to himself, trying to gently shift his tube back and forth to work himself out of the current, bumping himself of the edge of the river and heading towards the end of the ride. Quickly enough he was changed again, looking at the sun to see quite some time had passed. “Man, Mikasa’s gonna be so pissed…”
“Eren!” A blonde girl came up behind the boy and bumped into him playfully. “Have you seen Ymir around? She said she had some big plans but then just wandered off, something about owing Reiner or something.” Historia blinked up at him.
“No I haven’t, I just got off my first ride and you’re the first person I’ve run into.” Eren rubbed the back of his head. “Sorry.”
“Ouch dude, you got some color…” Historia blinked, touching the red circles under Eren’s eyes.
“YEOWCH! Who goes and touches someone else’s sunburn!?” Eren shouted, backing up a step.
“Sorry, sorry! Well since we both got separated from our groups, maybe we can look for them together.” Historia gave a smile. “We can head to the center of the park and see if anyone’s there.”
“That’s a good an idea as any, Armin probably told me the meetup spot but I don’t think I was paying attention.” The two headed towards the center of the park, passing by the “Whack-A-Hammer Titan” stall that featured a crystalline giant holding a hammer with games and prizes on display for those willing to try.
“What do you mean I’m not tall enough to ride!? I’m the chaperone and I can’t exactly chaperone the kids on those rides if you won’t let me on!” Levi huffed, crossing his arms in front of a railroad ride as Sasha and Connie danced onto it with smug grins. “Fine, don’t blame me if those two idiots flash your cameras or something though.”
“Seems like everyone’s having fun?” Historia gave a chuckle, watching the scene as they approach the center of the park, a large statue of the park’s Founder, a tremendous female giant with glowing white eyes holding the hand of a young girl. “Her name’s Ymir too, huh? Small world…” A thin smile crossed Historia’s lips, as if fondly reminiscing.
“I can’t believe it’s already this late, the fireworks’ll be starting at sundown.” Eren looked around, not seeing anyone at first.
“Well isn’t this romantic? What are you two up to?” Mikasa said dryly, appearing behind Eren with a menacing glare.
“AH! NOTHING!” Eren and Historia shouted In unison and jumped away from each other.
“I was about to say the same thing, seems you’re a girl magnet Eren.” Annie called with a similarly wry tone, leading Bertoldt by the hand a small hat with angelic wings for ears atop the tall man’s head and two bundles of cotton candy in his hands.
“It’s nothing! We just got lost together! And who are you two to chew me out anyway!?”
“Oooh, ‘getting lost together’ with Historia, Ymir’s gonna break your jaw. Let me know when that happens because I don’t want to miss it.” Jean chuckled, leading Marco, Sasha and Connie away from the food stalls, a turkey leg in each of their hands.
“Did the petting zoo break down? Who let a wild horse just run around like that?” Eren gave a cock smirk. “Oh it’s just Jean.”
“Enough you two, the fireworks are about to start.” Marco got between the two before they could start brawling, chuckling nervously.
A low shaking echoed through the park as lights illuminated the recently darkened area. “What’s that Rumbling?” Eren blinked, looking around.
“It means the show’s about to start.” Armin grinned as and Mikasa flanked him from either side.
“Yeah, that Rumbling happens every night before the fireworks.” Historia grinned as the others started gathering around them at the center of the park as well.
Sure enough soon the show began, nine differently colored rockers shooting into the sky and exploding, lighting up the whole park like daytime. Eren watched as the fireworks illuminated his friends’ awed faces, the sky alight like a shining aurora dancing through it. Mikasa gripped his hand as his friends crowded in from every side, pointing and laughing and watching the show.
Yeah, this was nice.
-----------
Eren’s eyes shot open, staring up at the cold dark brick ceiling of his jail cell once again. Despite his crazy dreams he hadn’t left this place in quite some time. “More memories? From the past, or future, or somewhere else?” He muttered to himself with a sigh before closing his eyes, memories of reality slowly coming back to him as a defeated sigh ripped itself from deep in his lungs.
“Yeah… that would have been nice…”
January 20, 2021: Taken (2008)
Well, I know one thing about this movie. He’s gonna find ‘em. And he’s gonna kill ‘em. And also, Luc Besson didn’t direct this movie! Yeah, my bad, he wrote this movie. But, then, he also wrote Leon, so I wasn’t entirely wrong. Anyway, 2008!
Tumblr media
I remember this year well. Obama was elected the first Black president of the United States of America; the Olympics took place in Beijing, months after a massive earthquake in Sichuan; the Large Hadron Collider was totally gonna make a black hole; and, of course, the most important news event of that year: Iron Man and The Dark Knight came out.
Tumblr media
And of course, the film Taken came out, creating what is arguably the most repeated film meme ever. Or, at the very least, it’s WAY up there. It’s a 12-year old meme at this point, but lemme tell ya: this thing was HUGE in 2008. Not the movie itself, just the meme. And I could lie and tell you that I’m watching this movie because it’s another French action thriller, and it’s fitting, but…
Tumblr media
...it’s the meme. It’s 100% the meme, I’m not gonna lie to you guys. So, uh...yeah, Taken, let’s do this. SPOILERS AHEAD!
Recap
Tumblr media
Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) is dreaming of his daughter and wife. In the modern day, he brings a birthday gift to his daughter, Kim (Maggie Grace), and his bitter ex-wife Lenore (Famke Janssen), who is married to a very wealthy man, Stuart (Xander Berkeley). Bryan, meanwhile, is a recent and comparatively poor retiree, whose friends come over for a night of drinks.
Retiree from what, you ask? Well, it’s likely the CIA, given that his friends refer to military missions and Langley. They invite him to join security detail for a pop star, Sheerah (Holly Valance), In the process, he saves her from crazed fans, including a knife-wielding assailant. Not sure why that guy wants to LITERALLY STAB HER, but somebody needs to look into that guy!
Tumblr media
Out of gratitude, Sheerah gives Bryan some references to give to his daughter, who wants to be a singer, apparently. However, when he sees her and Lenore the next day, all she wants from him is permission to go on a trip to Paris with her friends. When he shows his doubts for her safety, she’s upset, and his wife berates him for...government and military service? I mean, that stuff breaks up marriages, of course, but GODDAMN, Lenore’s bitter about it! Whoof.
Bryan’s definitely being made to be sympathetic, while Lenore’s the opposite of that. And Bryan’s understandably worried about his daughter’s safety, as she’ll be abroad. And we get the idea that Bryan’s a bit of a helicopter parent, but...c’mon! He’s underage daughter is asking to go to Paris with her friends! It’s cause for a parent to be worried, and yet Lenore is like, “She needs to be freeeeeeeeeee!” And that’s made even WORSE by the fact that both of them lie to Bryan, a father who clearly loves his daughter, because she’s actually following U2 on a music tour around Europe!
Tumblr media
Which...really? U2? Who the hell can stand that much Bono, for their ENTIRE EUROPEAN TOUR? Anyway, what I’m saying is, Lenore sucks, and I’m not Kim’s biggest fan either. But I get the feeling that, given the one thing I know about this movie...Bryan’s gonna be proven right. So Kim and her friend, Amanda (Katie Cassidy) go to Europe, alone, despite Bryan’s understandable misgivings.
They IMMEDIATELY get hit on by Peter, a French boy who gives them a ride. He invites them to a party, Amanda accepts for them, and this is OBVIOUSLY A BAD IDEA. That’s even further confirmed by Peter making a mysterious call, telling the other person about the girls’ location. Kim doesn’t call Bryan, as promised, and Amanda is clearly a TERRIBLE influence. Looks like Bryan was completely right to be concerned, if his daughter’s gonna be so irresponsible. Oh, also because they’re about to get kidnapped.
Tumblr media
Luckily, Kim had called Bryan just before, after realizing that he had called her, and he guides her through the upcoming kidnapping. With his help, although she gets kidnapped, Bryan is able to figure out that the kidnappers are Albanian, and that one of them is a six-foot tall bearded man with a moon and star tattoo on his right hand DAMN THAT’S OBSERVANT. But still...she’s been Taken.
Someone picks up the phone...and he says the speech.
youtube
Had to do it, folks. It’s the most iconic scene in the film. Time for action! Bryan calls a friend with Langley connections, then goes straight to Lenore and Stuart’s place, who find out that BRYAN WAS FUCKING RIGHT GODDAMMIT HOW DO YOU FEEL NOW
 Having COMPLETELY FUCKED UP, Lenore asks Bryan to get her back safely. They actually figure out that the men who kidnapped her are professional sex-traffickers, who specialize in kidnapping travelling women and putting them in prostitution. But they tend to disappear...within 96 Hours. That’s how long Bryan has to find her, as well as being an alternate title for this film!
Tumblr media
The time limit, by the way, is a common construct for the action-thriller. You know, “she has 12 hours to live,” that kind of deal. Thrillers are going to be peppered throughout this year, and there are a few coming up as well, so might as well start with this one, right?
Bryan flies to Paris, then makes his way to the apartment, tracing Kim’s steps up to her kidnapping. He also finds her destroyed phone, alongside an SD card with photos. From this, he gets a blurry look at Peter. I get the feeling that his face isn’t about to look much better. Speaking of, Peter’s playing his old tricks at the airport, and is caught by Bryan. Painfully caught. After Bryan fights off another guy, and chases Peter up a road, Peter also gets caught by karma.
Tumblr media
80 hours left. Having exhausted options, Bryan meets an old contact, Jean-Claude (Olivier Rabourdin), who tells him where the Albanians hang out. He hires an Albanian translator, then heads for a prostitute-heavy area. He harrangues a prostitute until her manager comes out, whom he puts a small microphone on. With the translator’s help, he discovers that they’re having “merchandise problems” at a construction site.
Following a hunch, he makes his way there, and sees several drug-addicted young women in a makeshift brothel. Also there is his daughter’s jacket. The prostitute that has it, however, is not exactly cognitively sound at the moment. So...she’s Taken. By Bryan, who fights his way out of the brothel and construction site, with gunshots, explosions, and car chases along the way.
Tumblr media
Bryan brings the girl back to a hotel, where he somehow gets ahold of an IV and medicine, and detoxes her in the room. Which, given the time frame and other factors...seems like a very large risk to take for testimony that, let’s be honest, right not exist. Still, as this is happening, he gets a call from Jean-Claude, asking to meet.
56 hours left. After 7 people dead, a destroyed trailer, and 3 people injured (and probably stolen medicine from a hospital, let’s be honest), Bryan isn’t exactly the best friend of the French government. He escapes police custody and heads back to the hotel, where the girl is cogent enough to remember where she got the jacket: from Kim herself, at the house with the red door on the road of paradise. No, really.
Bryan gets to the house, and poses as Jean-Claude...badly. He apparently passes his bluff check, and takes advantage of a corrupt police system, and makes them give him protection money. Over the course of the conversation, he figures out that one of them is Marco. Which means that he found him. And he said that when he found him…
Tumblr media
After that spree is done, he searches the facility and looks for Kim. He doesn’t find her...but he does find Amanda. And sadly, he’s too late for her. Turns out, though, that he didn’t kill Marko (Arben Bajraktaraj), the leader of the group. And of course not! He has some questions.
Bryan tortures Marko using electricity, and he reveals that Kim’s been sold quickly, as she is a virgin. She’s been sold to Patrice Saint-Clair (Gerard Watkins), although Marko doesn’t know where he is. And so, Bryan fulfills his promise, and electrocutes him. He then makes his way to meet Jean-Claude at his home. And, uh...that’s when he crosses a line.
Tumblr media
...Um. Bryan shot his wife. And yeah, Jean-Claude’s clearly not on the up-and-up, but he’s not directly complicit in the kidnapping of his daughter. And yeah, he’s in Bryan’s way, but JESUS CHRIST DUDE. He officially loses the moral high-ground here for me, even if his cause is just. Jean-Claude concedes, and Bryan gets the information that he’s looking for and leaves, knocking Jean-Claude out in the process.
Bryan goes to the Saint-Clair residence, where an auction is taking place for various young women. The last of these is, of course, Kim. Having barged into a booth of one of the buyers, he forces him to buy Kim (ew). Unfortunately, he’s caught and chained to a pipe, where Saint-Clair’s henchmen are about to kill him. But, of course...
Tumblr media
Bryan escapes and kills Saint-Clair in the process, but not before finding out that Kim’s been Taken to a boat. He obtains a car, and after a length (and seizure-inducing) car chase, gets onto the boat, which is owned by the Sheik, a man of unknown Arabic origin. And yeah, in case you were wondering, this feels very...VERY...wrong. It’s brief, yeah, but...you gave a rich Arabic guy multiple wives obtained through illegal means and made them the main villain? FUCKIN’ OOF BRUV
Anyway, as expected, Bryan kicks the asses of everybody on the boat, and finally rescues Kim, killing the Sheik in the process. The two have a tearful embrace, and Bryan NEVER LETS HER OUT OF HIS SIGHT AGAIN PROBABLY. THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT BONO. THIS IS ALL YOUR GODDAMN FAULT.
Tumblr media
Well, Bryan wins the I WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG GODDAMIT award, Kim gets to go home and meet that singer from before, Lenore gives Bryan some consideration as a human being for once, Stuart stepfathers, and that’s Taken! Also, WHERE IN THE HELL ARE AMANDA’S PARENTS, A GIRL IS DEAD
Epilogue soon!
#118 The Art Life (2016)
Director:
Rick Barnes
Olivia Neergaard - Holm
Jon Nguyen
United States
In Kristine McKenna’s book, Room to Dream, both she and David Lynch go into great detail about Lynch’s formative childhood memories, and the impact of the discovery of fellow painter Bushnell Keeler. In the movie The Art Life, we are provided documentary footage of the private studio life of David Lynch. Both of these works are highly recommended to anyone interested in acquiring more information of the life and work of David Lynch, but they tackle different topics from different vantage points.
McKenna’s book, written along with David Lynch himself, explores Lynch’s biography. A chronological look at both his personal and creative life. The book shies away from in depth analysis of his films, and offers more anecdotal and contextual information. This is very useful content, because it draws some very tangible connections between the images in his films, and what is going on in Lynch’s life outside the screen.
In contrast, The Art Life approaches Lynch as a creative person. One who not only directs films, but writes, draws, paints, sculpts, and is constantly tinkering in a studio that is packed with all kinds of odd paraphernalia. A fair amount of these “projects” make their way into his films. Eraserhead for example, due to Lynch’s lack of money, was essentially a hand built movie, where every prop and affect was the product of his thrift store resourcefulness and manual dexterity. In The Art Life, we see this impulse at work. It is the one constant in Lynch’s life. The film has a lot of contemporary footage of Lynch’s studio, a kind of modernist shed tucked within the Hollywood Hills.  We see telling details, a reproduction of Hieronymous Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delights pinned to the wall, cob webs, old tools, stacked papers, dirty fingernails etc. We see Lynch with surgical gloves on, slathering a paste like material onto a painting, or scrawling adolescent lettering around tortured cartoons.  One image remains constant throughout the film: the image of David Lynch, his blaze of unruly hair, enveloped in cigarette smoke. There is a lot of silence. This is not a confessional where Lynch rambles on in minute detail about anything. He reminisces about key people and events, but this serves more to prompt his memory or feeling of memory, so analysts of Lynch hoping to hear the director’s confessionals about definitive meanings to his movie’s ambiguities will be disappointed. I actually appreciated this about the movie. I would rather most of the mystery remain intact.
The documentary shows Lynch at work on his paintings, and shows how he made his way into cinema via the study of painting. It may be inaccurate to say the “study” of painting, since by these two sources, Lynch was for the most part, a promising, but less than consistent student. But once David found himself in the company of others who were real artists, or ones who shared the same degree of passion, he proved to be quite driven and consistent. In the end, Lynch just hated school. What was pivotal to Lynch was what he called “The Art Life”. The proposition that a person could build their own life / reality around the singular, almost fanatical dedication to the creative process. A process that allows the  realization of virtually unrestricted freedom. This was the key epiphany for Lynch, and for his own life’s direction, the Art Life became an all or nothing proposition.
The result of this artistic resolution does impact Lynch’s cinematic work, both on a practical as well as aesthetic level. Lynch became admitted into the Hollywood system as an outsider. And throughout his career he has inhabited both sides of Hollywood’s cinematic orthodoxy. Eraserhead, was his cultish debut film, a god-send opportunity from the American Film Institute. The Elephant Man, legitimized him as a bankable director. Dune, threw him back into dubious territory. In all of these works, Lynch’s approach to creating characters and imagery does have some continuity, and patterns and connections begin to emerge. Nothing goes to waste – a spare napkin in a break room could provide a character sketch, a stray piece of wood or lumber could be instrumental as a prop, or critical to the mood of a scene. Lynch makes a lot of stuff from the discarded stuff that everyone else throws away. And anyone who has been to art school knows that this is one of the first things you learn as a penniless visionary –you borrow or dig into dumpsters whenever you can! So it stands to reason, that if you hand a guy like that a sizable Hollywood budget, be prepared, because there is now ample monetary space for his imagination to run wild.
However, not everything works. Lynch’s creative process is not a streamlined one. It is not programmatic or didactic in the sense of say Minimalism. Lynch scrapes around in the dark, and in the ambiguous; he approaches things by feel, rather than reason. This could be confusing to many watching this film, but Lynch provides key narration.  We see him in a dark studio behind a solitary microphone, as Lynch recalls key memories or connections. In the bizarre reality of David Lynch, The Art Life offers us a guided tour, but we can still only get so close to the allusive truth. We are still left with much that remains an enigma, and we are left with this: if one really wants to get inside the head of the creator, inside the inner workings of David Lynch, it’s probably best to immerse yourself into the films. There you have all of his projects and tinkerings on full display, his music, his writing, his drawing, his painting, and of course the films themselves.
The Art Life is an important documentary to watch. It is probably the most honest and direct account of what David Lynch does with a lot of his creative time; light up a cigarette, stare at a painting, and let his mind wander deep into the dream.
