2017 is nearly over, yet we’re already we’re looking forward to what comes next. While there’s still plenty of fun to extract from the games we’ve loved this year, there’s nothing wrong with indulging in a little bit of anticipatory hype. The tabletop editorial team...

Fandom: the best one aka ocs gallore
Summary: Blade Runner AU. The setting is based on Blade Runner 2049 and all crossover with movies facts are intentional but non important. Just to give it an extra taste.
@potatomcmuffin @some blog of rosy lol
2049. A replicant is a synthetic, biorobotic being with para-physical capabilities and designed to resemble a living, organic being. After the replicants’ production being banned from Earth for so long, Mister Niander Wallace revitalized the production by creating replicants that didn’t disobey human orders. They were programmed for a task and they did all the work humans didn’t want to.
Still, the old models from the bankrupt Tyrell Corporation were still roaming, having went rebellious and escaping their work on space colonization and hiding on Earth. Someone had to take care of them and of the occasional newer models that went rogue. The process of getting rid of them was referred to as retirement.
Those who did that work were called Blade Runners.
----
"And blood-black nothingness began to spin... A system of cells interlinked within cells interlinked within cells interlinked within one stem... And dreadfully distinct against the dark, a tall white fountain played."
----
Re calibration done, she made her way to the boss’ office. The woman barely looked at her but she was used to it. What replicant wasn’t used?
“Officer V, I need you to drop your previous case now. You will be assuming the investigation of some of the disappeared Nexus 8 models. I will pass you all the information Officer K has come by so far. Understood?”
“Yes, understood.” So. K was moved to another investigation. Well, Mar--- Officer M always said he seemed to be boss’ favourite. V didn’t quite like thinking about this sort of thing. It wasn’t her business and as far as she knew, Officer K seemed to be a very good officer. That was all that mattered.
The boss finally looked up from the computers and looked at her. Her expression wasn’t of disgust as some looked at her, but it was coldly professional. “Good. I like you, V. You never ask questions.” She smiled, a very small smile maybe pitiful for the girl who seemed to follow so well all protocols. Truly an artificial being. ”You’re dismissed.”
With a short nod, V was out of the room.
-----------
“So, K got another mission, uh?”
They were in V’s house. V was heating up a meal for them, while Mari was leaning on the wall, very casually. Mari looked so casual that V thought it might be easier to get her mistaken for a normal human being. But the ‘skin-job’ slurs they heard while making their way out of the office made her assumption false.
“I don’t know. I just know I’m taking one of his missions now. We shouldn’t really be discussing that.” V said.
Mari rolled her eyes.
“We’re both blade runners! We work in the same area, that’s not a secret to us!” She stopped for a moment, but of course, kept going on K’s case. “I always knew he was the favourite. I wonder, what’s more important than hunting some of those old folks?”
V left Mari to her own thoughts, paying attention on putting the food in a serving platter and carry it to the table. Mari was still talking as she helped out by carrying their plates.
They sat down.
“You’re no fun, did you know that, Marianne?” Mari complained before beginning to eat.
V simply shook her head. There it goes, Mari was trying that name again. Marianne.
They didn’t have names. Most replicants didn’t. Mari’s ‘name’ was actually MHE - 6.8. V was VNM - 1.5. That was all. But it wasn’t enough for Mari and she came up with a name. A full name for herself. And tried getting V to join this madness. She came up with Marianne, but V didn’t like it. She didn’t need a name. They didn’t need a name. Replicants were only named by their owners if they liked them that much and that was rare. They didn’t have owners, their owner was the police forces.
What they would call a ‘skin-job’ who named itself?
Rogue. Exactly what they hunted down. It was dangerous, so dangerous. Sometimes V wondered if one day, M would simply not pass on her re calibration tests and would be retired - killed.
M was too vivacious, too authentic - or at least, faked it well - for her own safety. And V still called her Mari. Even if she knew it was wrong. Maybe that was a bit like being human. They always said humans are attracted to wrong things.
They finished their meal talking about other subjects. Soon, they were finished and Mari would make her way back to her own home. They lived really close, and that’s part of why they used to hang out so much. It was easier to ignore the neighbors hostility to their condition when they were together.
“See ya later, Marianne!” She smiled, knowing what she was doing.
V simply shook her head again.
“Mari?”
“Yes?” She asked, sounding hopeful as always.
“No. Just, no.”
Mari was clearly unhappy.
“Ok, ok. I still think it’s a pretty name.”
“It is. But it isn’t mine.”
Mari left, leaving V to her own small, empty apartment.
She stopped by the window, taking in the city chaotic view, with many buildings and holographic advertises flashing everywhere and the buzzing full street.
Marianne. Mari said, when she was explaining the meaning of her own name and why she was actually using a nickname, that Marianne was a name used for the Goddess of Liberty.
Maybe that was why V was so against that name. Not for the rules or for being named by another replicant.
It was because she didn’t feel free at all.
