Overview: The Sand City

Northern City, or the Sand City, is the birthplace of The Lady, all of the Followers, and the origin of The Lady’s following. Built dangerously close to the edge of a tectonic plate, the city is plagued by near-constant ground tremors. It was once a cutting-edge paradise in which the best and brightest inventors created the best and brightest technology for the world to use. But as time went on, the city deteriorated, and this city of light became the sand-scoured hell it is now. In today’s world, Northern City is an amalgamation of crude, ramshackle buildings slapped on top of decaying steel corpses.

But the old world can still be glimpsed in the city below the ground and in the sky, if one looks hard enough. Up above, structures of glass and metal scrape the clouds, too tall to take down but still not stable enough to inhabit. Down below, buildings connected by a crumbling and confusing system of tunnels have been left mostly untouched by the new world order. That would be due to pragmatism, mostly. To any sane person, no resource is worth a journey into that darkness.
