i am generally ignoring the current season of Doctor Who but this is too bizarre and too funny not to post about.

At around midnight Mountain Time (so about the time the latest episode began streaming in North America on Disney+), X/Twitter in its "Trending in Canada" sidebar (obviously for users in Canada) showed about 7,000 hits for the doctorwho hashtag. Pretty low if you ask me, but whatever.

So I go to bed. I wake up and hop on X/Twitter to find DW has been pushed off the Trending in Canada list already and instead, with 16,000 tweets (that was at 8 am; as I type this it's about 4:30 p.m. and it's up to 21,500), one of the top trenders in Canada was now a hashtag related to a sex toy. I'm not sure what's up - either those who hashtag it may be eligible for a discount, or apparently if you use the hashtag it somehow activates said sex toy. (I never imaged they'd be wi-fi connected; bluetooth maybe for remote controls, but wi-fi?) I'm not really inclined to find out - it's more fun guessing. I won't name the brand here as this is not that kind of a blog and I'm probably walking the line just using the phrase "sex toy". The name starts with L, I'll leave it at that.

Anyway, this is not a knock on current Doctor Who - I'm not watching so I have no horse in that race - but the fact it was pushed off the top trenders in Canada list after a few hours by some promotion involving a sex toy is just hilarious. I'd be laughing even if we were back in the Capaldi days.

i couldn't agree with people not having the opportunity to defend themselves in court, before a jury of their peers should they prefer.

the price of unwarranted authority isn't success. understanding won't matter more when the cost of failing to address concerns becomes part of the next batch of concerns. simple consideration of rights, yours and those of others as equal, could prevent a concern.

we, in this country, have a right to government as a resource. we also have our rights regardless of our occupation or avocation. however, public service or service requires an acknowledgement of acceptance of the public's trust. betrayal of that trust often carries additional liability. earning that trust should deserve some consideration of merit nonetheless.

politics seen as obviating liability isn't a concern limited by branch.

way things are, how the environment we live in actually is to find, life is just that much better lived while young.
