Mission: Jingle Bells — VoicePlay music video
youtube
After the events of "Panic! in 4 Minutes" (and its prequel "Trapped" that they hadn't filmed yet), you might think the VoicePlay guys would be more vigilant against being abducted. But no, they've gotten kidnapped and tied to a circle of chairs again. At least this time their captor isn't actively trying to kill them. He just wants a private performance… or else.
Details:
title: Mission: Jingle Bells
original songs / performers: theme from Mission: Impossible; traditional American carol "Jingle Bells"; rap verse inspired by "Dopeness" by the Black Eyed Peas
written by: Mission: Impossible theme by Lalo Schifrin; "Jingle Bells" by James Lord Pierpont
arranged by: Layne Stein
release date: 21 December 2018
My favorite bits:
the group being awakened by Earl, Eli, and J.None singing in three part harmony
Geoff busting out that iconic bass line
the extra bindings securing Earl's beefy legs (and the gift bow on the end of his beard)
J.None singing those happy lyrics to the M:I minor key melody
the lovely bell chord for ♫ "laughing all the wa-a-ay" ♫
the increasing concern on Geoff's face as their captor puts him through his bassy paces
J figuring out a loophole by speaking to the beat
Layne's percussion under the rap switching from resonant wood block sounds to quick high hats to ramp up the tension
the cautious ♫ "Time… to… get… out" ♫ from Eli inspiring everyone to pull against their bonds
Earl hitting that sky-high ♫ "jingle BEEELLS" ♫
the syncopated harmonies from Eli and J
that crisp diction in the final chorus
"Someone's coming to untie us, right?" 😟
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Trivia:
○ Like most of the spoken dialogue in VoicePlay's music videos, the kidnapper is voiced by Eli. The mystery person at the computer equipment is Kathy.
○ The guys have never released a conventional version of "Jingle Bells", but they have done serveral creative things with it:
They performed a fun remix as a commercial bumper during the Sing-Off season 4 finale.
They did a Bollywood-inspired version on their 2012 holiday album, "Peppermint Winter".
And, of course, they included an excerpt in their "Most of the Songs" holiday medley that they performed at seasonal shows, including their three annual residencies at Disney World for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party.
○ VoicePlay later included the Mission: Impossible theme in their "Aca Top 10 – Movie Themes" countdown with guest Rob Lundquist from Home Free.
○ The fellas made some festive hostage-note-style promo posters that they posted to their individual social media accounts. (Though I can't find J.None's anywhere.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
○ This video was commissioned by Paramount Studios as part of the advertising campaign for the home media release of Mission: Impossible – Fallout, the sixth movie in the series.
○ Instead of a note in the YouTube description, they posted a comment reading: "MERRY CHRISTMAS! This video was sponsored by Mission: Impossible – Fallout — If you're looking for something INCREDIBLE to watch this holiday season with all of your fav secret agents, 😎 👉 http://paramnt.us/Get.Fallout. Today (This comment will self destruct in 5 seconds)."
○ The video won a 2019 Clio award, the industry awards for advertising. The coordinating agency, Think Jam Inc., took home a bronze in the Home Entertainment: Original Content category.
○ Earl got a little lost in the sauce when he picked up breakfast for the guys and their crew on the way to the filming location.

Sampling in Music and Barthes' Death of the Author
Tumblr media
Barthes’ argument that the author is ultimately irrelevant in the greater scheme of their works is largely an ideal that resonates with me as I do agree that it should ultimately be left up to the reader to determine meaning within what they consume. One idea that stuck out to me in particular though was his ideals concerning no works being the culmination of truly original thought. All works draw some degree of influence from some earlier work so in Barthes's eyes that ultimately makes it useless to try and prescribe a particular ideal to just one author as that author must have been shaped by something they witnessed. This matter reminded me a lot of the art of sampling found within music and how interesting controversies are stirred up regarding originality due to how artists utilize samples.
Sampling involves the implementation of a pre-existing composition from a different recording within another recording for musical purposes. Sampling played an instrumental role in the creation of modern-day rap and hip-hop and continues to be used in other genres to this day. Despite the commonality of sampling it is still regarded through a controversial lens as it creates discussions surrounding copyright and ownership which is especially difficult to validate when it comes to music. A recent controversy over plagiarizing involved a lawsuit launched against the pop singer, Ed Sheeran, for allegedly ripping off Marvin Gaye’s “Let's Get It On”. The Gaye estate luckily lost the suit with the jury ruling that the songs just built off similar chord structures that predated Gaye’s classic. Another more iconic controversy surrounding sampling arose in the 90s with Vanilla Ice’s single “Ice Ice Baby” which sampled the bassline on Queen and David Bowie’s collaboration “Under Pressure”. Queen and Bowie were not provided writing credits on the track until they threatened to sue for copyright infringement, at which point they were promptly credited. In some way, this case was a landmark in how sampling would be applied to hip-hop records but others critiqued how it essentially forced Queen and Bowie to be a part of a collaboration they had no interest in.
In some way, I can see both sides of the argument for sampling and interpolating other songs, but I feel that instances such as that as mentioned prior are prime examples of the misconception that sampling is a lazy art. Of course, it would suck to have one’s ideas appropriated and refurbished for monetary value like the commercialization of memes discussed in the Sax reading, but as is mentioned there it is entirely up to the creativity of those reconditioning the work to make it of value. The reason things become annoying is when they become mainstream and novelty as observed in Chen’s hatred of most memes due to their oversaturation. People can tell when something is done artistically versus when it is done out of sheer laziness. The power derived from sampling is in its ability to use the context of a piece and apply it in a manner that either builds or grants an entirely different meaning to the work. One of the most iconic songs in hip-hop, Wu-Tang Clan's “Cash Rules Everything Around Me”, samples a 1960 love song titled “As Long as I’ve Got You” drawing a palpable comparison between the song’s theme of an over-dependence on money. Sampling also serves to bridge cultural gaps by introducing an entirely new musical perspective to a completely new demographic as can be seen in Britney Spears’ sampling of a Bollywood track in her most successful single, “Toxic”.
While ownership of intellectual property is an important matter, I think Barthes’ attitude toward the “anonymity” of art results in much more interesting and complex works.

With iconic characters, epic dialogues, and actors who can make us swoon, Bollywood is a way of life for Indians. From recreating SRK’s signature open arms Pose, to replicating Salman Khan’s OG bracelet and quoting Akshay Kumar’s hilarious dialogues, who amongst us isn't influenced by the cult of personality of our favourite actors? Turns out, this obsession with Bollywood doesn’t just stop at adopting their mannerisms, but also their nicknames!
Snapchat released new research on Indian nickname culture, uncovering a national fascination with nicknames and Bollywood might be one of the biggest drivers of nicknaming in India.
And that’s not all: Snapchat’s pulling all stops to celebrate the iconic nicknames inspired by India's silver screen. Always ahead of the time with AR and unique innovations, Snapchat has launched a mind-blowing Nickname-themed Augmented Reality (AR) Lens inspired by this nickname frenzy.
Bollywood Actors inspire nicknames for all
Kareena Kapoor aka Bebo, the epitome of elegance and charm, has topped the charts amongst Bollywood actors that inspire nicknames. Other stars include Akshay Kumar, the one and only Akki, the Khiladi of our hearts, and our beloved Bhai, Salman Khan, the Sultan of the silver screen. Rishi Kapoor’s Chintu and Saif Ali Khan’s Nawab were also named among the most loved nicknames. Capturing the hearts of Bollywood enthusiasts across multiple cities, these iconic actors have not only captivated audiences with their mesmerizing performances but have also inspired a wave of nicknames that have become part of our everyday conversations and made it to the top as India’s most common nicknames.
Raju from Hera Pheri, Pandey Ji from Dabangg – when the reel is real
The survey further unearthed an absolute blast from the past dominating the nicknaming trend. The vibe was all about nostalgia as names like Sonu and Monu from blockbusters like Haseena Maan Jaayegi, Style, and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety were revealed to be common. Other legendary characters that inspired nicknames were Hera Pheri’s Raju, Mirzapur’s Guddu, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’s Pappu, and Dabangg’s Pandey Ji.

The Influence of Punjabi Music in Bollywood: From Melodies to Dance Numbers
Tumblr media
Introduction: Bollywood, the vibrant Indian film industry, has always been a melting pot of diverse cultures and regional influences. Among the numerous regional influences that have left an indelible mark on Bollywood, Punjabi music stands out as a powerhouse of energy, rhythm, and infectious beats. Over the years, Punjabi music has evolved and seamlessly integrated into the fabric of Bollywood, transforming melodies into foot-tapping dance numbers. This article explores the profound influence of Punjabi music in Bollywood, tracing its journey from soulful melodies to high-energy dance tracks.
Melodies That Touched Hearts: Punjabi music has a rich tradition of soul-stirring melodies, rooted in the folk music of Punjab. The lyrical depth and emotional intensity of Punjabi folk songs have found their way into Bollywood, enhancing the storytelling and creating memorable moments. The Advent of Bhangra Beats: In the 1980s, Bollywood witnessed the emergence of the Bhangra wave, with Punjabi beats infused into the mainstream music scene. Artists like Bally Sagoo, Malkit Singh, and Daler Mehndi introduced the pulsating rhythms of Punjabi folk music to a wider audience, creating a cultural phenomenon. The infectious rhythm of Punjabi music found its way into clubs, weddings, and parties, making it an essential ingredient in Bollywood’s dance sequences.

The musical journey from originals to remakes!
By Shatakshi Saxena
The Golden Era of Bollywood music was home to legends like Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Manna Dey, Rajendra Kishan, Anand Bakshi, R.D Burman, Mohammad Rafi, Asha Bhosle and many more. Each song written and sung was a masterpiece, leaving a lifetime imprint on the listener’s heart. From ‘pal pal dil ke pass tum rehti ho’ to ‘dum maaro dum mitt jaye gham’, the unmatched music, the magical voice of legendary singers and the thoughtful scene setting made these songs the masterpieces they are. In the past decade, Bollywood has chosen to remake some of these old classics. The introduction of more peppy music, objectifying portrayal of actresses and mismatch between lyrics and context have made remakes a disaster. The iconic ‘Ek Chattur Naar’ sung by the maestros Manna Dey, Mehmood and Kishore Kumar is the finest song produced in Hindi cinema. The classical beats and comical lyrics add to the beauty of this song. The remake for this song was released in 2017 in the film Machine. The new version was nothing but too many peppy beats with elements of DJ and rap, filmed in a party setup. It is technically a spoilt hip-hop version of the most classic Bollywood song.

Similarly, the famous ‘Mere Angne Mein’ sung by the living legend Amitabh Bachchan is still remembered for its lyrics and the drag performed by the Mr. Bachchan. The mood of song was very vintage and comical. It was just a week ago that the remake for this song was released by T-series, starring Jacqueline Fernandez and Asim Riaz and sung by Neha Kakkar and Raja Hasan. The remake completely changes the concept of the song and adds a more objectifying touch to it. It also finishes the comical aspect of the song, destroying its core identity.

Remake:

The remake of the iconic ‘Laila Mai Laila’ originally starring the glamorous Zeenat Aman lost its beauty when its remake was released in Raees (2017). The original was shot in a more sensible gathering with no objectification unlike the remake which portrays a cheap gathering of alcoholics, hooting with every objectifying move of Sunny Leone. The remake has been made the typical ‘Bollywood item number’ when originally it wasn’t the same. While Zeenat Aman added glamour to the original, the remake made it a point to be sexist in its approach. The objectification of Sunny Leone was a selling point for the makers. It was disrespecting towards women and the original track.
Songs like ‘Mere Angne Mein’, ‘Laila Mai Laila’, ‘Dum Maaro Dum’ and many more are classics for a reason. Creating new versions of such songs destroy the feel of the original, also highlighting the fact that Bollywood is unable to produce new songs! Old songs had an everlasting shelf life because of the lyrics, music and how contextual the songs were. The remakes destroy that very element; concept and music. Even though the lyrics remain the same, the song doesn’t sound good because it loses its essence. It is also an insult to the lyrics for their originality is severely affected.
For example, the remake of ‘Pal Pal Dil Ke Pass’, a classic romantic song sung by the legendary Kishore Kumar was released in the film Wajah Tum Ho (2016). This is possibly the best example of how the most beautiful lyrics can lose their essence when combined with irrelevant depiction and context. The lyrics were written around the concept of two lovers longing to meet each other. The original portrayal was absolutely simple, heart-warming and revolved around something as beautiful as love letters. The remake, without understanding the concept of the lyrics, made the song extremely sensual and objectifying. The depiction is completely different from the thought of the song and comes out as a disaster. It is one of those sensual songs made to sell the film. The lyrics of an amazing song have been misused in the worst manner.
Making remakes of songs is not a problem, if it is done with respect. One should realise that certain songs are fit for a particular scene and context. Also, not every song can be made peppy, objectifying or sexist to gain box office numbers. It is important for the new age music directors to understand the depth of old classic songs before destroying their quality. If Bollywood continues to make disastrous remakes like this, the future generations will never know about the original classics.

Super Junior-D&E ‘Danger’ Mini Album Review
Tumblr media
Super Junior’s kings of versatility, the wonderful Donghae and Eunhyuk are back! This album was highly anticipated and its release was much appreciated. ELFs are being fed well, as there has been an almost constant stream of SUJU content coming our way lately. These Kpop icons consistently rule the charts (and our hearts too). Let’s get into the review.
The title track Danger is very different from D&E titles of the past. It is fast-paced and powerful, and fits well with the casino-gangster-magic-circus theme shown in the music video. Danger felt like it could fit well into the soundtrack for the Dhoom movies (fans of Bollywood will understand what I mean). I really loved the psychedelic high-pitched beat in the instrumental, as well as the majestic tune in the pre-chorus (as expected from a song composed by Donghae, the king of melody). Eunhyuk spits fast paced aggressive raps that fit the theme perfectly. The dance is great, and the song only gets more enjoyable the more times you listen to it. Great work D&E!
The next track Jungle is a tarzan-eque twist on the popular (although slightly overdone) genre of EDM-inspired upbeat pop. The post-military service D&E clearly love this style of music, but their sassy flare makes this song stand out from the many similar sounding songs being released. I love the lyrics as well – they’re pretty hilarious. Also, Eunhyuk’s smooth vocals in the chorus prove that he is more than just a rapper.
“I’m in love in the jungle”
Gloomy is a slower paced song with sexy vibes, R’n’B flavour and deliciously whining autotune. I absolutely adore this style of music, so I was delighted to hear D&E try it out it again. This song reminds me of their Japanese song Take It Slow (a sexy MASTERPIECE that I highly recommend you listen to if you haven’t already!). Gloomy has smooth guitar instrumentals, steamy vocals and a sexy trap beat.. what more could you ask for in a song? Plus, Donghae’s oohs and yeahs in the chorus are bound to any ELF’s heart race.
There is a stark change of pace as we move onto the next song Watch Out, which starts off with an exciting brass hook that wakes you up from the sensual haze created by the previous song. Eunhyuk really stepped up his rap game on this track; I got a genuine a hip hop feeling from his flow this time. Donhgae’s falsetto is also super fun to hear.
Dreamer is calm and crooning R’n’B style ballad, which is sort of reminiscent of Super Junior’s Evanesce. The clue is in the name, as this song will send you into a sexy Donghae-and-Eunhyuk-fuelled daydream. I also loved the use of a clock ticking in the instrumental – I always love to hear this.
Next we have the Korean version of Sunrise, which was the title track to their 2018 Japanese album Style. I absolutely loved the song in Japanese, so I was happy to hear this version too. Sunrise is an EDM-style party song that managed to be ethereal and pathos-filled at the same time as being an upbeat party song. I even loved the extensive autotune, as I think it really adds character to Donghae’s voice. Although the Korean version was nice, I am much more used to hearing the lyrics in Japanese, so I will probably listen to that version more. (In my opinion, nothing can beat the iconic 君を愛してる or “Kimi o aishi teru” meaning I love you, in that track).
Finally we have If You, with is a Korean remake of another classic Japanese hit. This song is peaceful and delightfully sweet in both languages, and reminds me of the romantic side of D&E that came out in songs like Still You and Love That I Need. I loved the use of violins in the instrumental, and with this song it is clear that D&E are really the greatest at making emotional bridges.
As you can probably tell, I absolutely loved this album. The only criticism I can think of is that there weren’t as many new tracks as I would have liked! Super Junior are undoubtedly the kings of Kpop, and this album really shows that.
Kpop Review Café’s Overall Album Ranking: 8/10

Tempo In Digital Music
Electronic music is music which uses non-conventional digital instrumentation and sound manipulation expertise as the first musical spine of a composition. "Free jazz" begins here, more or less. The saxophonist would get a lot further out (what's that piano doing right here?) but his first recording session established a brand new idea of improvisation: moderately than expressing themselves within traditional track constructions, musicians must act like spontaneous composers responding to what the opposite players had executed. But Coleman got here up on the R&B circuit, and if One thing Else!!!! was more forward-thinking than a lot up to date jazz it was additionally bluesier. One in all Ornette Coleman's greatest insights was that generally the most avant-garde music is also the truest to its roots, which you could demolish traditional musical architecture without abandoning the sounds that made these traditions once feel so alive. For instance, liuyvonne8349456.wapsite.me researchers found that individuals might make correct judgments about an individual's levels of extraversion, creativity, and open-mindedness after listening to 10 of their favorite songs. Extroverts tend to seek out songs with heavy bass traces while those that get pleasure from more complicated kinds comparable to jazz and classical music are typically more creative and have increased IQ-scores Rentfrow and Gosling have prolonged their studies, looking at the completely different sides of music that may be linked to preferences. I do not understand how people in India have the guts to even name Bollywood a music business. I mean, severely? A talent-much less bunch saying "Your eyes, your face, our love, our marriage" time and again in each tune. And www.audio-transcoder.com a few random-ass "rapper" who sometimes chips in to "rap", which all the time consists of "Get on the floor, yeah, groove it, yeah, yo, yo, move it". ninety nine.9% of the songs are like that. Plus, no production quality in any respect. All the pieces borrowed from different international music. Bollywood is simply industrial advertising and marketing noise which is offered off as music to a billion folks with no taste and no clue as to what real music is.
Tumblr media
A examine out of Finland additionally regarded on the emotional properties of music and its impression on memory formation, however with a twist. It compared how music impacted the memories of those with musical backgrounds versus these without These with a musical background did better on the memory duties if impartial music was playing, rather than pleasurable music. The other was true for these without musical backgrounds. The conclusion drawn right here is that pleasurable music was too distracting to individuals with musical backgrounds. In essence, their brains were too busy analyzing the music they enjoyed to kind new reminiscences. While those with out a musical background have been reacting to the constructive emotions impressed by the pleasurable music, which helped them enhance their short-time period reminiscence. Your first major drawback, not one endemic to the style however one which plagues it in a key way — there's a plethora of bands that all sound the same and are most likely very horrible. Partially as a result of undeviating" nature or lack of evolution throughout the genre, death metal has a very discernible sound that can shortly become hackneyed. There are methods and tropes to any niche primarily based musical type, with some artists using them better than others to nice success while others are simply off-putting to the detriment of the genre. The style can be widely common among American teenagers , earning the second place and 15.three percent of votes in a survey in August 2012. The primary place and more than 18 percent of votes was awarded to pop music, rock scored 13.1 percent and landed in fourth place. Curiously, Christian music made it to prime 5 with nine p.c of votes. The younger generation is also broadly represented amongst nation music performers with such outstanding names as Taylor Swift (born in 1989), who was the very best paid musician in 2015, and Hunter Hayes (born in 1991). Immediately, EDM is usually characterized by remixes and unique sound mixes, produced by world-well-known DJs like The Chainsmokers , Steve Aoki , Martin Garrix and others, along with the ever-relevant Skrillex, David Guetta, Daft Punk and Tiësto. That said, electronic dance music and its subgenres are actually utilized by a big majority of pop and hip-hop artists, including the likes of Coldplay, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Drake, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Alessia Cara and numerous others.
Method back in 2016, Young Thug shared a photo of himself with Sir Elton John. For years, Elton John has been an avid fan of Young Thug, having heard the rapper on Beats 1 in 2015. Shortly after that, the two began engaged on a collaboration, and a song that includes Thug and Elton John's vocals from "Rocketman" has been rumored ever since. This 12 months, the two lastly made good on that promise, releasing the melodic and thoughtful "Excessive" featuring John's iconic hook. It is a flawless melding of two generations of pop stars, one which on paper could have been a catastrophe, but is genius given the talent of each musicians concerned.
Tumblr media
For anybody who has ever practised these two dance genres or has some involvement with them, the answer may be apparent and the query might also sound pointless as contemporary dance and jazz dance are clearly completely different. Nonetheless, for the non initiated it may be tough to differentiate, particularly since these two dance genres typically affect one another and new forms of fusion are repeatedly created and performed. Before starting to practise each contemporary and jazz dance, I for one did not have a clear concept of the variations and at first I might haven't known how you can explain if there have been any variations.
Tumblr media
Romantic music (c. 1810 to 1900) from the 19th century had many parts in widespread with the Romantic types in literature and portray of the era. Romanticism was an inventive, literary, and intellectual motion was characterized by its emphasis on emotion and individualism as well as glorification of all the previous and nature. Romantic music expanded past the rigid kinds and forms of the Classical era into extra passionate, dramatic expressive items and songs. Romantic composers comparable to Wagner and Brahms attempted to extend emotional expression and energy of their music to describe deeper truths or human emotions. With symphonic tone poems , composers tried to inform stories and evoke photographs or landscapes utilizing instrumental music. Some composers promoted nationalistic pleasure with patriotic orchestral music inspired by folks music The emotional and expressive qualities of music got here to take precedence over tradition.

BY  Aamina Khan
“If the term “stan” was commonly used back in 2009, it would be an accurate description of how I felt about the song “Don’t Stop Believin’.” I scribbled its lyrics all over my Converse sneakers and into the captions of photos on Facebook. It was a perfect anthem to soothe the general feelings of anxiety and inadequacy that came with being 13. But I wasn’t a teen who had uncovered their parents’ old Journey records. I first heard "Don't Stop Believin’" on Glee.
Actually, I learned about a lot of pre-2000s music from the wildly popular Fox series, which ran for six seasons. It's where I first discovered legends such as Fleetwood Mac, Madonna, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Pretty much everything that my friends inherited from their parents' music collections, I learned on Glee. I grew up listening to Bollywood soundtracks, classical Pakistani songs, and Radio Disney, and I’m not ashamed of that. I have always been a proud Jonas Brothers fan, and Lata Mangeshkar is a South Asian icon. But where there were gaps in my western musical education, Glee was there to fill them.
...
A few months ago, my group chat made a collaborative nostalgia playlist. It included quite a few Glee covers, and when I raised the question about why we didn’t just use the originals, my friend who added them said that she never really listened much to the originals; she had a nostalgic connection to those covers. Those Rachel Berry solos and New Directions harmonies scored our high school years, and for some of us, the Glee version is a more honest reminder of our adolescence.
While some may debate the merits of covers vs. originals, Glee’s numerous homages to pop cultures past opened up a world for me that seemed difficult to access otherwise. We use words like ‘timeless’ and ‘classic’ to praise a song’s ability to give the same heart-filled rush to one generation that it was able to give to its own. Covers like the ones on Glee give those timeless songs another chance to do that 20, 30, 40 years later.
In fact, I can’t help but believe that every Glee fan’s musical literacy improved at least a bit, regardless of the music they grew up with, because there was almost no genre the show didn’t cover. The music selection was so diverse, varying in its decades and genres, from Les Mis to ACDC with Top 40 in between. Before that show, I thought rock music meant heavy metal and was shocked to learn it can also be acoustic ballads. That musical theatre was jazz and that it was also sometimes pop. That hip-hop was expansive, sometimes rap-heavy and other times more bluesy (and that it isn’t for you, Mr. Shue, I’m sorry). There was so much to learn about music culture past and present from that show.“

The song is basically about the problems that arise when you act selfishly, and never think of others. There is a price to pay when greed is your only motivation. The price is not only paid by others that you have taken from or hurt along the way, but by the individual who has acted only with their self interest in mind. Material success never really leads to happiness, and that is something that anyone that has achieved any level of monetary success will tell you. Be a good person, help others, and realize that 'more' isn't always a good thing.

New Release: Little Italy
Genre: Rock: Alternative Rock
Located in: Georgetown, TX
Tough On Fridays is a rising alternative rock duo from Georgetown, Texas. Comprised of best friends Katie and Caleigh, the two have turned their shared passion for music into an exciting blend of pop and rock sounds! Inspired by iconic alternative bands like Paramore, Green Day, Basement, and Nirvana, Katie and Caleigh work together to bring a refreshing new sound to the alternative rock genre.
The band’s unique attitude and exciting new sound have garnered serious attention from fans everywhere. As one of 10 songs recorded, the recording of "Little Italy" further defines Tough On Fridays sound as something unique. While many reviewers have tried to categorize the band, the one thing they seem to agree on is that Tough On Fridays, with their edgy, hooky, anthemic songs, may have the ability to bridge the gap between rock and pop in a way that hasn't been done in some time. They refuse to be categorized as a "female-fronted band" as these two can write and play every bit as well as the boys. They have the look, but refuse to let that be the stepping stone that takes them away from the music.
Right now... Tough On Fridays just reached its initial crowdfunding goal to fund the recording of an album in 2020 with the help of a contribution from a local radio station.

New Release: Electrocute
Genre: Jazz+Funk
Located in: Los Angeles
A culmination of all the musical genres that have ignited my passion for music in the very first place. I think I will look back and think of this song as one I HAD to produce in order to move on to other things. It's the most reflective of my artistic voice. I grew up loving all forms of music, but I've always been partial of music that can make you move. Genres that were energetic by nature (Jazz, Funk, & Hip-Hop) have always had a soft spot in my heart. Electrocute is the one track on The Jazzmen Invasion that combines all 3 of those genres & applies them to their fullest effect. In it, I channel 1/3 Eminem, 1/3 Prince, & 1/3 Frank Sinatra; a blend that could be hard to swallow. I always tell people my genre of music is neither jazz nor funk, it's Jazz+Funk. So I see that a lot more songs in my future would build off of the Electrocute formula.
Currently… I've put together an outfit of wonderful musicians who I've reached out to help me re-interpret the music on the EP to a wider live audience. We are Funk Sway, the driving force of the Jazzmen Invasion. With a band of musicians that I trust to carry out my vision with me, new music, & subsequently, new music videos, social media content, etc. will also be inevitable. I am working on building the NOVA movement one song at a time.

New Release: I Wait
Genre: R&B
Located in: Corpus Christi, Texas This song is my first attempt to create an R&B song, I wanted to challenge myself and make something that people wouldn't except from me. I was heavily influenced by Khalid and Drake when it came to the vibe of the song with all the harmonies and music production. I will say that I truly express my feelings through this song so I find it very personal and special to me.
This song is important since it's my way of starting to branch out from doing more than just pop music. I've always wanted to do R&B as well and now people will get to see this new side of my music.
I will be moving to Dallas in June to help put my name out there and continue working on some new songs and perfecting my music production and songwriting.

The relevance of Hindi is that it is one of the numerous Indian languages that is regarded as the national and official language of the country's northern regions.
Hindi, commonly known as Hindi-Urdu or Hindustani, has various regional and national dialects. Hindi is a member of the Indo-European language family. Arabic is the closest language to Hindi. Unlike Arabic, though, Hindi is written from left to right.
