Sleep Apnea May Affect Your Mental Health
Sleep apnea has a number of physical effects on the body, but you may be surprised to learn that it can also have a detrimental impact on mental health. Our Surrey dentists explain the detrimental effects of sleep apnea on mental health.
Sleep apnea is a potentially fatal sleep disorder because it disrupts the brain’s oxygen supply. It can cause sufferers to wake up frequently, snore loudly, and have disturbed dreams.
However, those suffering from sleep apnea may face poor mental health consequences as well as physical consequences.

Bongo Rx Anti Snore EPAP Starter Kit
Patients with mild-to-moderate Bongo for sleep apnea and/or snoring are advised to utilise the Bongo Rx reusable nasal EPAP device. When using a Bongo CPAP device is not practical or possible, such as on a camping trip or on an aeroplane, Bongo can be used as a primary therapy device or as a complement. The little silicon device is softly placed in each nostril and worn throughout the night. Each nostril's tiny valve opens during inhalation to let air enter freely and unrestrictedly.
Expiratory Positive Airway Pressure, or EPAP, is created when the valves close and restrict the passage of air out of the smaller vent holes during expiration. EPAP greatly widens the upper airway and stops the soft palate vibrations that snoring is caused by. In turn, enhanced inhaling capacity results from increased nasal dilatation. The effectiveness of the airway during sleep is significantly improved when nasal dilatation and Bongo Nasal EPAP therapy are used together.
