Less strict parent but more teacher - older sister type. somewhat like Cahciua

Hylnyan was doing a lot of thinking and consulting some the parents NPC after Pandemonium. She was kinda worried that doing WoL stuff may affect her future Miq'tten.

Ameliance thinks she'll be fine considering the kids in her social circle. Especially how Alisaie turned out.

Pandemonium made her worry as if she didn't turn out reasonably okay considering she hardly seen her travelling parents. And her aunt and village had been raising her and ones like her for how long now?

By end 7.0 DT. She's aware that she'll probably be a bit like Cahciua.

I had to to apologise to Erenville because since EW, Hylnyan tend to go into airhead mode (what pass for her being not WoL mode and normal self) around him.

And by the time I met and interacted with Cahciua. I realised Hylnyan was behaving somewhat like Cahciua, who is some kind of badass adventurer.

Sorry Erenville, I didn't realise you were seeing shades of your mom in this WoL person who was trying to be normal. Sorry for annoying you.

Hylnyan (hunting Miqo'te tribe) and Erenville probably have an almost similar upbringing.

Now I need more Cahciua and Erenville stories /art from this.

Oh gods now I need to go see if I can do a therapy arc for Erenville that in understanding his airheaded friend he comes to figuring out his mom and lighten his emotional backpack a little It would do both of them some good. Especially how Hylnyan was trying to maintain some kind of normal life in spite of WoL duties (duty/job not life)

.... I need to know more about Cahciua!!!!!! Please let me travel more with Erenville, dude has interesting dynamics with Hylnyan.

so normally I tend to assume roughly about a year per expansion because it's an extremely simple and straightforward approach? So that'd result in something like this

unfortunately, that leaves us with the slight problem that with Kea and Y'shtola having first started their relationship somewhere mid-Shadowbringers, there really isn't nearly enough time for them to also have had and raised a daughter of maybe 7-10 summers of age by the start of Dawntrail.

So instead the timeline currently looks a little bit like this

How does any of this make any kind of sense with the Levellieur twins still not having grown up? I have absolutely no idea. Something something comic book time. Just don't think about it too hard, etc.

Look, little Matoya's presence for Dawntrail is based entirely on the premise of "wouldn't it be cute if...", and that's about the extent of it. I don't need the timeline to make sense when there's feels to be had.

Since we're in the final countdown for Dawntrail, here's some good tips:

1. Log out in an inn room.

2. Make any final purchases from the Moogle event.

3. Cap your Poetics.

4. Save Allegory+Comedy Tomes. These will be tradable for other Tomestones later.

6. If you intend to level Pictomancer and/or Viper, buy a full set of Augmented Cryptlurker Casting/Scouting gear. There will also likely be Augmented Cryptlurker weapons for these jobs, but they won't be available until DT releases.

7. Check to make sure you have enough PTO/PPTO to cover the time you call out for. (Yes you will. Don't lie.)

8. Pick up a Khloe book and get 9 seals. Turn this in once DT releases and you can get half a level's worth of XP towards the job of your choice. Then grab another as soon as you turn that one in.

9. Find a Lalaffel and /pet them for good luck.

I've been walloped over the head with Naruto fixation in the middle of being eaten by FF14 (having fun with Dawntrail) and I keep thinking about the Team 7 light party that I assigned on the fly HAHA my personal thoughts on the matter is

- Sakura is the tank (Warrior for the party heal/self heal/blue healer joke) (also realized after the fact that warrior has the whole Inner Beast thing, so you could crack an inner Sakura joke) (also warrior keeps getting bigger and bigger Fell Cleaves and I think it would be funny)

- Kakashi is on Scholar/healer because he gets a little book and the carbuncles and I thought it would be funny (also I think he should play lalafell for fun)

- Sasuke is Reaper for the edgey melee dps. I think reaper enshroud & the lore might be enticing bc the, like, pact with a little funny demon thing

- Naruto is a Ninja for the bit and also melee dps (menace with shukuchi/gap closing and also greeding DPS) (finds the smallest teeny tiniest safe spots about half the time)

I keep pondering who else you could add into the party to make a full static but I fell off of reading around halfway thru the Gaara Rescue arc years ago...absorbed the rest by osmosis so I know about Sai and Yamato but I'm not sure who else I would pick for a party of 8...there's too many options....I think Sai would of course be pictomancer but idk what Yamato would be HAHA maybe white mage? For the blood lily? Kakashi and Yamato shield healer/regen healer team? (This leaves one tank spot and one damage-dealer spot open if I can count correctly)

It would be kind of funny if the inevitable desire to make all things an FF14 AU is what makes me reread Naruto but that depends on getting my brain together HAHA

I thiiiiink it would be a modern AU where they all game together just bc I don't have the brain to try a fusion AU at the moment, but I could imagine Sasuke having surprisingly really deep lore for his character and writing fanfic in his head and then getting mortified when he accidentally lets it slip (not ready to be perceived by his friends)

(someone gets Sasuke to pick up dark knight and like, if you connect with it, dark knight quests can change man HAHA, they check in on him in a while and he's having a Time)

I'll think about it...I'm in the ao3 trenches right now (close 5 tabs and somehow I have 50 more tabs)

My Top 10 Characters Ranking (November 2024)

A/N: The last time I did one was two years ago apparently. Are the years going by too fast? For me, everything just seems to be muddling together.

Disclaimer: This is my opinion/preference. If you don't have the same top characters, that's okay! We can have different ones! :) Also, please do not start telling me that Raphael can't be romanced for this and this reason. Like any other fan, I will like who I like, and imagine what it would be like to romance him. That and the more I hear stuff like that, the less I want to interact with anything bg3.

Honorable Mention:

Anthony Bridgerton (Bridgerton)

This mother fluffer...I did not like him in the first season of the show, but season 2 really got me to look at him differently. Smitten? Maybe. Envious? Most definitely since Kate is so attractive! He's a lucky man.

Rafayel (Love & Deep Space)

I have such a love-hate thing for him. His mouth annoys me but he's also kinda funny. And he's kinda pretty charming.

Obi-Wan Kenobi (Star Wars)

Watched Star Wars for the first time a few months ago. Kinda hated him/was annoyed by him. Now I'm down so bad for him.

10 Shadowheart (Baldur's Gate 3)

She's cute. If not for Minthara, she would have been my main girl in Bg3. A great companion and I've still yet to romance her.

9 Koana (FFXIV)

As soon as I saw his reveal I knew I was gonna love him. And with playing Dawntrail, I definitely do. He has my heart right behind G'raha. Seriously though, I love the way he cares for his sister. My WoL (Cinna) & her family definitely relate to him. And it was a breath of fresh air to see him react the way he did at a certain moment.

8 Halsin (Baldur's Gate 3)

There's something about nurturing men that I absolutely adore. I would seriously feel 100% safe around Halsin. He's so caring and wise.

7 Aymeric de Borel (FFXIV)

My main FFXIV love of my life. I want to put him so much higher but LADS & Baldur's Gate 3 have me in a chokehold right now.

6 G'raha Tia (FFXIV)

The cat of my dreams ^-^ Need I say more? I adore G'raha Tia! Though I haven't been focusing on FFXIV lately, he's still my very best boy.

5 Zayne (Love & Deep Space)

I knew I was gonna fall for him. I mean, Hatori to Jumin to Zayne pipeline. I like how he interacts with MC. And his voice is so soothing.

4 Raphael (Baldur's Gate 3)

I just wanna smooch him and love him and smooch him some more. I mean, with the way he interacts with Tav sometimes, I need a romance option. That and it would be interesting to see a Devil of his stature being a romancable option. The storylines it could bring to the game~

3 Sylus (Love & Deep Space)

I didn't expect to fall for him but I did. I love him. And his voice is just so...gets me every time. I was expecting a typical bad boy but he's so soft for MC. I'm here for it.

2 Minthara (Baldur's Gate 3)

My wife. She's my wife. I fell for her the moment I first saw her in the game. And I save her every time. She is surprisingly kind, soft-hearted and thoughtful towards the other companions. But she is also stern. But these are traits of hers that I adore. I loved experiencing her in the game. I'm sad that I can't date her while dating Gale so I need to start a new playthrough for her.

1 Gale (Baldur's Gate 3)

Gosh, I have come to love Gale so much more on a deeper level. In the beginning, I was attracted to his love for books and his humor. However, is the sweetest lover (in my opinion) and there is no greater love for my TAV than him (I'm sorry Minthy/Halsin). His romance story is both romantic and heartbreaking. I would do his path over and over again if there wasn't more I wanted to romance in other playthroughs.

I promise I will stop talking about Dawntrail soon. It's just so much went wrong I'm having a hard time understanding HOW it came to be like this.

Like, it feels like the entire part with Sphene and the Endless and Solution 9 were last-minute changes because someone's boss looked at the throne storyline and said "what the fuck is this? make it not boring, now." And they panicked.

But that can't be right, right? They teased some of this stuff way beforehand. They mentioned Krile getting a backstory back in Shadowbringers post-patch, I think. Did they really intend to write this for years? Like THIS was the best they could do?

Like, for non-xiv players, it's like your favourite novelist went "I've decided that my preteen child will write Book 7 instead of me!" Then the kid writes half of a bad book, gets bored, and plagiarizes the second half FROM BOOK 6!

There's a story to tell here. I want a documentary made.

Essentially Hylnyan trying not freak out herself while I was enjoying how the whole thing was like a suspense-horror sci-fi movie playing out. There was so much 'Oh noes!!!" and "Oh shits!" And the amount of red flags waving like a aircraft marshaller directing take off

Ranking arr class quests from lamest to coolest

Ff14 has a lot of jobs. And we all love them for different reasons. One of said reasons often includes the job quests, which help with contextualizing the flavor and place they have on the land of eorzea as a whole.

But what about the first step before achieving said job?

Today, im going to rank all the class quest plots in a realm reborn, from what i consider to be the most poorly executed, to the best story in this batch of content. This includes every starter combat job from levels 1 through 30. So no hw jobs who start in arr territory nor crafters or gatherers.

9.- Gladiator

The most boring of the class quests by a mile. The whole guild feels like a bunch of wannabee heroes who stick out their heads in places they shouldnt, and aldin, the focus character, kinda steals all the spotlight from the guild and the wol, even in the final lvl 30 duty. Mylla is cool otherwise and seeing every single gladiator sent to do plot things being near death in an obvious trap is something hilarious to me. And the plot to poison the sultana is funny on hindsight cause its not going to be the first time it happens.

Overall kinda boring, and still, it was better than dealing with paladin after hw

8.- Archer

Xenophobia: the class quest. While it is a good story that contextualizes the systemic issues thst gridania has, the main conflict between Silvairre and Leih isn't entertaining to watch. And the fact that the elezen's shittiness isn't really adressed and leih just kinda puts up with so they get along. And the whole "subduing the vil poachers" feels off when you consider the lore of the keepers of the moon in the twelveswood and their whole "actually living in peace with the elementals and being branded as poachers by the gridanians" all ends up leaving a bad aftertaste in ones mouth.

7.-Lancer

Drk isnt edgy as Dragoon is, and its predecessor is also quite edgy at times. Lancer quest focus character is Folques, who is yet another victim of gridania's aggressive culture towards outsiders, except he is a murderous bastard who thinks that getting stronger via murder is cool. So we prove he's wrong as we become stronger by killing him instead.

Overall kinda meh story about a rude rival that foreshadows some of the themes of revenge to occur in heavensward and stormblood.

6.- Conjurer

Weird how all gridanian class quests are relatively low.

However, conjurer is one i genuinely enjoy. Sylphie is sn amazing character and the explanation of the way conjury works is so good. Reason of it being a tad low, is because e sumi yan is a bad teacher, and sylphie is a terrible student. Other than that, im happy they returned for sb whm quest, closing a book on conjurer in a really good way that ill speak about later.

5.- Arcanist

Our favorite custom officers are a fun quest for beginners, fitting as summoner is the easiest job in the game. I particularly love k'lyhia's energy, as well as how the job includes aspects of its future job incarnations and its own core with her. The power of the summoner and the strategic might of the scholar.

Only complain is that i miss k'lyhia, and i need to see her in dawntrail.

4.- Marauder

You kinda just break rocks and chase after a big animal for 30 levels. Which is to say, they make work with what they had, and had to set in the conflict between beast and man to follow up with Gorge in warrior. Its not terrible, but its obviously just there for the warrior set dressing.

3.- Pugilist

Slapstick plot. The most hilarious class quest solely because hamon is such a riot to be with, abd his solo duty when you kicks his ass and he starts to level up is the best gag in all of a realm reborn. Besides that, the quest isnt particularly memorable besides the average ul'dahn crime sindicate plot.

2.- Thaumaturge

The cocogang is just shadow wizard money gang if it was real. I really love their whole "evil priest that do shady things in the shadows" except the shadows are 2 feet away from the place they do burials and stuff. basically they are all chunnibyious and im all here for it. Plotwise is really cool; it introduces voidsent and also adds some fun conflict in the form of the youngest -and magically deficient- of the coco brothers, and it ends with all of them broadening their horizons. whats not to love about this gang of arsonists?

1.- Rogue

The last addition to the basic classes, also is my personal favorite class plotwise. The rogues guild is full of character and so fun to have around. The whole concept of them being the actual people who punish pirates for their heinous crimes is genius, and the dumb rivalry they have with the yellowjacket captain is hilarious in the same way that lupin the 3rd does with inspector zenigata, and that one gag of Jacke being hanged in the hooks upstairs because he ate a sandwich is hysterical. couldnt expect less from ishikawa.

if i had to nitpick, is that the job loses me a lot aesthetics wise when it becomes ninja instead.

Will make a ranking of the arr job quests later when i feel like it. hope yall understood the weird ramblings of my mind

For a moment there I thought it was gonna be Double Phys ranged Cats go! Especially when one is BRD and the other is MCH. The green clad cats have a traditional and modern theme between the two of them.

Practical reasons aside, I'm gonna take it that Koana can do Trials but lack stamina for dungeon runs.

To think I even brought the Ironworks gear for fancy high tech dungeons runs.

G'raha will always be my main healer and I'll always BRD for blind runs. So I'm counting on you Lamaty'i. Taking Krile the honarary cat for Team Cat run.

The remaining Scions are probably holed up at a Turali resort somewhere having a grand mahjong battle.

The amount of Levin in the air is gonna mess with Hylnyan's senses.

I like how slick this looks on her petite frame compared to Thancred and Radowan in the FFXIV GNB defauilt.

As much as I like black and dark red combos (I wear that along with mid-dark blues and black)

But I can't dye the coat to mid or lighter green colour without the lower red part to another looking blood soak

Finally done with Omicrons. Doing this on and off alongside Dawntrail made me compared it to Living Memory and that one Solution 9 scene.

Which interestingly I was doing earlier Omicron alongside a leveling Culinarian and Studium as a Post-EW thing.

Dawntrail be the Culinarian Expansion? Shokugeki no FFXIV? This game made me Go eat tacos. Hard shell tacos. not too big....

In Living Memory, food for holographic(?) replicants of memories of dead people is tasteless to the living. It merely serve as a "something done in life" and food taste how it should taste to memories the replicants have.

While in the Last Dregs, the taste and sensation of food while being eaten by Hylnyan is replicated by the Omicrons for the dead spirits to try and remember their past.

Although this guy might be doing this more for new experiences instead of memories.

And in Solution 9 all your food is in a handy dandy space pack /MRE / caloriemate. What presentation to please the eye and aroma to tease and been pack in a handy dandy pack for convenience sake without any personal touches. Sharlayan and Koana have another forewarning coming if all they want is fast handy dandy MREs.

A lifetime of carrot derived dishes and tasteless bread Foruchenault. This might have been in what calming Meteion has done to avoid a lifetime of space carrot food and archon loaf

Food is something we don't think about sometimes. In my own case I visited a town I once lived in for the sake of eating shredded chicken noodles in tomato sauce that I used to have as a kid. The stall is no longer around now but there has been close replications elsewhere, sauce dependent. but yeah It was for the sake of nostalgia.

I do have nostalgia food in terms of snacks and meals. But there's nothing I can do when my local shops no longer import Tronky and I can't be bothered to ship in some. Went and settle for Nutella replacement instead.

Comfort food. Hence stuff like Ice Cream and Popcorn showed up in Living Memory. Is an amusement park after all. And players probably eaten ice cream or pop corn at some point in time.

Do Cornservant quest line. all hail the Corn for knowing food that is easy on the stomach and comfort food. And food associated with memories. All this talk of food and memories make Solution 9 and Living Memory sound like a nightmare under calm waters.
