Also, Brendan Penny is my face claim for Cassie’s high school boyfriend (and her ‘first’) and now her closest friend. AS and BP haven’t starred together (that I know of), so I will be watching to see their on-screen chemistry.

Since this is a Hallmark Mysteries, I wonder if they’ll do more than one movie with the same cast. I hope this broadcasts in Canada too!

A Season for Family

I have a confession. Despite finding them rather ridiculous, I’ve been watching Hallmark movies for years. Yes, they’re great for mindless entertainment if you can get past the unrealistic storylines. But that’s not why I watched…

I was watching for the pretty female leads 🤭 And there were so many of them, too.

But something weird is happening all of a sudden. I’m actually noticing the men who I literally just ignored for years - they were only side pieces to the ladies in my mind.

Brendan Penny… graying…. That’s all I’m going to say.

And this guy - never gave Tyler Hynes a second glance before, and now I’m like… oh…

In Merry Measure

So while the ex based plots are my favorite, the old rival/friends troupe is my next go-to. So I was all for the history between Darcy and Adam. It made for some humorous moments and dialogue between them. I also enjoyed the sister moments that we got along with Darcy and her niece. Plus everything with the teens, even the little side romance was all very cute. The music was great as well, it all felt very in place which I feel like is sometimes hard to do when singing is involved with these kind of movies. I wasn’t crazy about the ending being a montage, but I have to give credit that it was different and I like when Hallmark has those moments. Actor wise, Patti Murin makes a wonderful and charming leading lady. So it was great to see her be a lead for once rather than supporting. I love Brendan Penny so I’m always excited to see him and in glasses no less. I loved seeing him play this dorky yet adorable role. This duo was great together. The chemistry was solid and they played off each other very well. I also loved having Jennifer Robertson in this one as I’m a major Schitt’s Creek fan so that was fun to see! 

Rating: 3 - I loved everything about this one. There was a great balance of music, humor and heartfelt moments.
