Bit late to the party but guys, yarn burns!
Which means a) Zuko got into knitting as a meditation exercise from uncle in order to stop setting things on fire
and b) (far more important) Zuko will have learned absolute control over his fire because he once(!) accidentally burned an almost finished piece and if that rage didn't teach him to be a master, I don't know what would 😂
Meaning that at some point (preferably in a Zuko gets adopted AU) water tribe men (south first) will look at this shouty, angry, ashmaker prince making/mending clothes.
And they naturally mock him, because what kind of men is he to do women's work?
Was it Sokka or Tokklo or Panuk or even Ranaloq or Aake?
Who knows?
The important thing is, Zuko's response will always be the same (once having learned wtf women's work is): Loud and fiery.
And in order to hide their own uneasiness about the fire they prepare to comment on the waste of the now ruined piece.
Just that it's not ruined. It's perfectly intact.
And Zuko, in his best Azula impression, goes: "Of course I did not burn it. Only an idiot would loose control like that. Besides you obviously don't know how much work goes into making clothes. Why am I not surprised that a savage like you would only let the women do such important work."
Katara does want to strangle him for the savage comment. And kiss him for the rest, because see, Sokka, even Zuko agrees with me.
And then she meets the northern men. And oh boy, does she want to introduce them to Zuko! They would deserve it.
Does zuko have any hobbies where he makes stuff with his hands? Like embroidery/knitting/crochetting?
I think it would help with his fire-lord-y stress ❤️
AU where Zuko angrily stress-knits
And everyone on his crew shows up at the South Pole with the ugliest scrap-yarn scarfs worn over their armor
And their prince, red in the face, marching one step ahead of them so he can ignore them
