Cotton Bedsheets and Home Decor: Elevating Comfort and Style
The appeal of a well-designed bedroom lies not only in its furniture but also in the quality and aesthetics of its fabrics. Among the essentials, cotton bedsheets stand out as a fundamental aspect of both comfort and home decor. In this comprehensive guide, we will explore the diverse aspects of cotton bedsheets, pillow covers, curtains, and other home decor items, offering insights into how these elements can transform living spaces.
Tumblr media
Advantages of Cotton Bedsheets
Cotton bedsheets are favored for several reasons. Their natural breathability, moisture-wicking properties, and softness make them a popular choice for a good night's sleep. Additionally, they are easy to maintain and durable, ensuring long-term use without compromising on comfort.
Exploring Cotton Bedsheet Varieties
Cotton bedsheets come in various types, including double bedsheets and fitted sheets. The cotton double bedsheet, accompanied by two pillow covers, is a versatile option suitable for larger beds. They are available in different colors and patterns, catering to diverse preferences and room decor themes.
Pillow Covers and Cushion Designs in Cotton
Pairing cotton pillow covers with bedsheets adds to the overall aesthetic appeal of a bedroom. These covers are not only functional but also contribute to the room's ambiance. Additionally, designer cushion covers in cotton offer a wide range of patterns and textures, allowing individuals to express their style through decor.
Enhancing Room Ambiance: Curtains and Shades
Apart from bedsheets and pillow covers, curtains play a crucial role in enhancing room aesthetics. Whether for the bedroom or the living room, choosing the right curtains or shades can significantly impact the overall decor. Roman shades and window curtains add sophistication and privacy to bedrooms and drawing rooms, elevating the space.
Exploring Home Decor Beyond Bedsheets
Home decor encompasses a wide array of items beyond bedsheets. From luxury bedding to affordable decor options, there is a plethora of choices available. Curtains, cushions, and even wall art contribute to creating a personalized and stylish living space.
Duradecor Bedsheets: Quality and Elegance
Duradecor stands out in the realm of cotton bedsheets. The brand emphasizes quality, offering bedsheets that combine elegance with durability. Their products are designed to enhance comfort while maintaining style and sophistication.
Buying Guide for Premium Beddings
When considering premium bedsheets, factors such as thread count, material quality, and brand reputation come into play. Finding high-quality cotton bedsheets in India involves exploring reputable brands that prioritize both comfort and aesthetics.
Explore the World of Quality Home Decor
When it comes to creating an inviting and aesthetically pleasing home, investing in quality home decor items like cotton bedsheets, pillow covers, curtains, and other soft furnishings can make a significant difference. Choosing the right materials, colors, and designs not only enhances comfort but also reflects personal style.
The versatility and comfort of cotton bedsheets, along with the charm of well-coordinated pillow covers and curtains, contribute to a cozy atmosphere in any room. Whether you're aiming for a classic, modern, or eclectic decor style, incorporating high-quality cotton-based home decor items can elevate your living spaces.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the world of home decor offers an extensive range of options beyond just cotton bedsheets. From pillow covers to curtains and various other soft furnishings, each element contributes uniquely to creating a welcoming and visually appealing home environment.
Embracing the elegance and comfort that cotton bedsheets and associated home decor items offer can transform a mundane room into a tranquil retreat. By focusing on quality, design, and personal preferences, one can curate a space that reflects their personality while ensuring comfort and style.

Chapter 23 - Exalted Entanglements
I sighed, reading the same paragraph for the fifth time.  My final recital song was constantly playing through my head, the discordant note I never seemed to get right resonating louder than the rest.  I really should go practice.  I needed it.  The recital was coming up in just a few weeks.  Dr. Brooke would skin me alive if I messed up that same measure again this week.
I turned a page backwards to re-start this section.  I needed to finish this chapter before school tomorrow.  Only then would I let myself get back to the hellish piece Dr. Brooke was punishing me with.
"Hey you," I heard softly from the doorway.  I looked up from my book, my grin stretching my cheeks.  Em was rarely home on the weekends; she had been working so much.  Before me, she had worked on paperwork right after a case.  She never minded staying late at Quantico.  But now, she had something to come home to and she never did paperwork.  Apparently, that had caught up with her and most of her free weekends were spent in the office catching up.
"Get everything done?" I asked.
"Not quite.  I've at least caught up to this month, though," she said ruefully.  Her long legs crossed the library in a few strides, and she plopped next to me with a heavy sigh.  "I think I left my brain at Quantico," she said through a large yawn.
"Awe baby," I cooed at her.  Stretching my arms wide, "Come here."  Emily settled into my side and pecked the side of my head.  "Lay down," I commanded softly.
Emily settled her head in my lap, and my hand immediately fell to her hair, petting the top of her head gently.  Within minutes, her breathing slowed, and her feet rubbed together like they always did when she was asleep.  I smiled softly, content to be her pillow.  I only wished I could see her peaceful, sleeping face better.  I relished our sweet, silent moment together, loving the fact that she felt so safe with me.  I couldn't help but feel grateful I felt so safe with her, too.  Amazed to so quickly find a home in her.
I turned back to my book; my recital piece could wait.  Em's sleep was far more important, and I didn't want to disturb her.  Not that it was a hardship to lay with her.  I couldn't think of a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than to lay lazily with Emily on the couch.  Especially because we hadn't had a weekend together in ages.
I finished my chapter, concentration issues gone now that Emily was here.  She slept so long, I even read next week's chapter.  This silence and tranquility re-centered me.  I wished Emily would let me be there for her more.  It thrilled me to be a source of comfort and strength for her.
"Mmm," Emily hummed.  I felt her turn over and mumble, "That feels nice, angel."
I looked down at her looking up at me through sleepy eyes.  "Did you have a good nap?"
"Mmm," she rubbed her eyes softly.  "Yes, thank you.  I'm sorry I fell asleep so quickly, but I needed that."
"I know, babe.  I wish you slept more," I lamented.  I put my book the side so I could caress her face, drawing one finger down the line of her strong jaw.  Her eyes closed in pleasure for a brief moment, and then she grabbed my hand and turned to kiss the palm.  Her lips trailed down to my wrist, her tongue sneaking out to flick against my pulse point.  I couldn't stop my heart from beating faster; Emily always excited me.
"Whatcha reading?" she asked after a few seconds.
I picked my book back up.  "This novel for my lit class.  I was a bit behind," I rambled, "but I went to the bookstore a few days ago, so now I'm catching up.  I don't know how I missed it on the syllabus at the beginning of the semester, but I did.  Anyway," I rolled my eyes at myself, "I've got it now."
Emily's brows furrowed.  "Did you put it on your school account?  I didn't see a bill."
"No, I just went to Barnes & Noble," I brushed it off.  My fingers wrapped themselves around the tiny hairs framing Em's face.  She was so fucking beautiful, I couldn't concentrate on anything else.
"How much was it?"
"It was only $30 – no big deal!"  I internally paused.  No big deal.  Look how far I'd come.  Last semester, if I had a surprise book I forgot to buy for the semester, I'd have a freak out about how I would find an extra thirty dollars in the budget.  "I just used the card you gave me."
"Baby," she chided softly.  "That's not for school stuff.  I'll transfer money later this evening."
"Don't worry about it."  She sat up with a scathing look.  I knew better than to tell Emily what to do – especially about money.  "It's all your money," I defended anyway.  "What does it matter which giant pool of money it comes from?"
She sighed and combed her messy nap hair through her fingers.  "It matters to me, love.  I still want to take care of you, no matter what you are to me.  I'll always take care of you."
Her soft voice, dripping with sincerity, caused my heart to stutter.  I hadn't felt so safe or loved since I moved to DC.  This city was always so cold, the people detached.  Everyone was always thinking about whose neck they could step on to get ahead in this city.  It was hostile; no room for found family.  And I had no more blood family to fall back on.
I couldn't help it; I launched myself into her arms.  I needed to make Emily feel just as special as she made me feel.  My lips pressed against hers instantly.  But I needed more.  I swung a leg over her lap to pull myself closer to her.  But it wasn't close enough.  My lips were frantic, my fingers pulling at her shirt.
"Baby," Emily gasped in surprise.  "I just woke up!  Let me catch up."
"Hurry," I begged, already breathless, "I need you."
I nipped at her lips while I tangled my fingers into her hair.  "Baby, slow down," she commanded softly.  Her lips, deliberately slow, calmed my frenzy.  She sucked softly on my bottom lip, pulling a groan deep from chest.  Her hands smoothed down my body, settling on my hips.  She helped me rock them against her thigh; I wanted to move faster, but her hands forced an excruciating, teasing pace.  Her lips trailed down my neck, still sucking, leaving a trail of her saliva.  "We have all the time in the world," she murmured against my neck.
I rocked my hips harder, signaling to her I needed it faster.  Her hands slid around to the tops of my thighs.  "My my," she teased, mischief coloring her voice, "You are needy, aren't you?"  Her fingers trailed softly up my thighs, raising goosebumps the higher they rose.
All I could manage was a whimpered, "please," as I buried my face in her neck, my hips continuing to rock.
Her hand slipped underneath my shorts, and her finger traced over my panties.  "Please what?" I didn't need to see her face to know she was smirking.  I should have been annoyed at her arrogance; I should have been embarrassed that she could rile me up so quickly.  But all I could focus on was getting her finger on my bare skin, getting her inside of me.
"Emily," I whimpered.  "PL-"  I gasped as she pushed my panties to the side and plunged one finger inside of me.  "Yes," I hissed.  I pushed my hips as low as they would go to get her deeper.  I grabbed the back of the couch and started pumping against her finger.  "Em," I begged, "More.  Please."
"My greedy baby," she cooed, but blessedly added another finger.  "So wet for me already.  So needy."
I was growing incoherent.  I couldn't help myself when she spoke to me like that.  Her low, husky voice – teasing and sexy – never failed to cease any thought but getting off.  I had no control over the noises coming from my mouth.  They were all for Emily.
"That's it, baby.  Ride my fingers."  Her other hand moved up the front of my body.  She lightly traced my lips before pushing her thumb in my mouth.  I sucked on her finger, trying to stay quiet.
"Harder," I moaned around her finger, pushing my hips down as far as I could.
"You need it deeper?"  I simply nodded.  As she pulled her fingers out, I whimpered in protest.  "Be patient, baby.  Lay back," she said gently.  She pushed softly against me, helping me lay on the couch.  She ghosted her fingertips up my legs as I settled my head against the arm of the couch.
"Em-"
"I said be patient," she reminded.  Her fingers hooked over the waistband of my shorts and pulled them down my legs.  "Be good for me and be patient."
She wasted no more time.  Her head fell between my legs, and she licked up my slit once before sucking on my clit.  "Oh god," I groaned.  One hand pushed her hair out of the way while the other tightly squeezed the couch cushion.  "More," I begged.  I felt her exhaled chuckle tickle my skin, but she didn't say anything.  She slid one long finger inside me.  She pushed into me so slowly I thought I'd combust.  She curled her finger slightly and then pulled back out.  Before I could protest again, she slammed two fingers into me roughly.  "Ung," I grunted.  "Fuck."
I sprinted to my peak, my stomach muscles tightening deliciously in anticipation.  "Emily, Emily," I chanted.  I couldn't think of any other words.  The only thing I knew was Emily.  All I could feel was Emily.  "Emily!"  I rocked my hips in time with her tongue and keened as I reached my release.  My muscles relaxed, and I melted into the couch.  I threw an arm over my eyes as I tried to catch my breath.
Emily pressed a kiss to each thigh and hip bone, and then trailed a line of kisses up my abdomen.  "Mmm," I moaned as the waves of my orgasm dwindled slowly.  How was it possible she always made me feel so good?
My earlier passion turned into a yearning to be close to her again.  I hadn't noticed before, but Emily had only half stripped me.  I pushed Emily back and pulled my shirt over my head.  "I want to feel you close," I whispered sheepishly.
"Closer than in between your legs?" she teased.  Though smirking, she shed her own shirt and laid down between my legs.  She rested her chin on my belly, looking up at me with sparkling eyes.  I sighed in contentment.  I would never get enough of Emily like this.  The majesty of being this intimate would never lessen.
I tilted my head to the side, resting my head in my hand.  "Thank you, baby," I whispered.  With my free hand, I ran my fingers through her silken hair.  I tried to untangle the knots I had created earlier.
"You look so beautiful like this," she muttered.  It was almost as if she were talking to herself.  "The lighting is perfect," she mused.
"For what?"
Her head snapped up.  "Don't move.  I mean it.  Please, just let me-"  She stood up and raced out of the room.  I sat up halfway in confusion.  I had been enjoying the connection and tranquility of just laying together.  Emily always brought me such peace.
I waited a few seconds, but it felt longer due to my confusion about what she was doing.  She returned with a sketch pad and charcoal.  Realization dawned on me that she wanted to draw me.  I was incredibly flattered to be her muse.  She leaned down, brushing a kiss against my forehead.  "My angel," she whispered.  "You are so pretty.  I have to draw you.  You are so fucking beautiful."
She sat down and opened her sketch book.  She closed her eyes and exhaled loudly.  Slowly, through her impossibly long lashes, she looked up at me from her spot on the floor.  "Don't move," she warned seriously.  And she was off.
I tried to peek at her work, but she had angled the paper so that I couldn't see.  But that didn't preclude me from seeing Emily's hands swiping back and forth over the paper.  She made endless, quick, harsh flicks against the paper, and then she would go back and smudge over the lines with her fingers.  It was fascinating watching her.  And now obvious why she was always covered in charcoal when she was done drawing.
Emily had failed to put a shirt back on, and watching her do what she loved while half naked was distracting.  I shifted onto my side to get a better view.  "Tilt your chin up," she interrupted my musings.  I wordlessly complied.  If the price of getting to cum like I just did was letting her draw me afterwards and get to stare at her half naked, I'd gladly lay and pose for her.
After several minutes, I nearly fell asleep.  Relaxed in our quiet, peaceful library, the slight scratch of her charcoal over the paper lulled me into a trance.  I lost track of time in my half-asleep daze, only to be awoken by Emily's soft "Okay."  My eyes snapped open and looked towards her judging her finished work.
"Can I see?" I wondered.
She shifted and stood, clutching her sketch in a way so as to hide it from me.  She traced one finger up my neck and under my jaw, tilting my head back.  She leaned down to place a soft, sucking, wet kiss on the underside of my jaw.  I sighed and tilted my neck further back.  "The slope of your jaw is…"  She trailed off, losing herself in lavishing my neck with attention.
"Is what?" I asked breathlessly.
"Divine."
I pushed her sketch book out of her hands – I could always look at her work later – and pulled her towards me.  She came willingly, settling on top of me once again to start this all again.

If you want to make your house beautiful, then firstly you need to take care of your home interior design. You should focus on the space because if your room is nice looking, then people in the area will feel attracted towards coming inside. Your house looks good means your personality is attractive. If you have a small room then don't worry about it. But if you have big room then I recommend you to buy furniture. So these are some tips for designing your bedroom and bathroom.
Make sure your bedding is comfortable. If you want to sleep well then you need to have a mattress that fits nicely your body. Also try to get a clean pillow case and cotton sheets. In some cases, you can use some pillows and blankets. Try to avoid using synthetic materials while choosing bedding.
Choose the right lighting. (Best Interior Designing Company in Patna) Don't opt for harsh lights; choose a soft bulb instead. Use natural light in the morning hours as well as late at night. A room with windows will always look brighter than a dark room.
Add flowers in your home. Flowers add beauty to any room. There are many types of flowers that are available online. You can choose what type of flower you want and where to put them. If you live in India or in any other tropical country, then you can purchase African violets. These flowers can make your room look elegant.
Clean your home regularly. It's normal to find dirt and dust in your home. However, cleaning your home regularly can keep its appearance fresh. Dust covers everything and makes a room look dirty. To avoid this, you can vacuum often. Also, make sure you wipe the floor and counter tops daily. After doing this, you'll notice how easily things remain clean. If you follow these simple steps, then your home will become beautiful without much effort.

The app currently has more than 75,000 users in over 60 countries. It supports 10 digital assets, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Polygon, Axie Infinity and USD-backed stablecoins USDC and USDT, and plans to expand to over 50 assets in the coming months.
Founded in 2021 by Arindam Roy, Rajath KM and Kartik Mishra, Pillow is focused on emerging markets like Africa and Southeast Asia. It founders say that since the beginning of the year, it has grown its user base by 300%, with assets under management growing 5x. It also recently expanded into Nigeria, Ghana and Vietnam, among other markets.
Before founding Pillow, Roy and KM explored web3 while working at identity verification and AML software provider HyperVerge, while also holding jobs in the traditional finance industry. During this time, the two started a Discord server on the side to onboard people onto web3, which eventually grew to more than 15,000 people.
“We saw a pattern of problems repeating,” the two told TechCrunch. “People do not know how to pay gas fees, do not know how to bridge across various blockchains, people do not know what transaction they are approving and end up losing funds.” Around this time, the two met Mishra, who was head of business for Indian delivery startup Dunzo, and started talking about how to solve the onboarding problem at scale.
“Eventually, we realized that the challenge is that crypto transactions today do not fit the mental model of how retail users perceive transactions. You would need a strong technical background to transact seamlessly in crypto,” they said.
As a result, Pillow was born to make crypto usage understandable.
To do this, the Pillow team has to tackle a couple big issues. The first is awareness, since the majority of people still think crypto is just buying and selling Bitcoin, without understanding other use cases. The second is complexity, since using crypto in its entirety means understanding gas fees, blockchain technology and bridging. “A person who just wants to transact is not going to scale this learning curve,” they said.
Pillow solves these problems by simplifying crypto investments and transactions to one click, instant swaps and savings using single-click daily interest savings. It plans to do the same for other crypto services like payments.
To use Pillow for the first time, people sign up using their email accounts, and then provide KYC information, such as live selfie photos and national identity cards. Afterward, they get a short lesson on the potential risks of investing in digital assets before choosing which ones they want to deposit or invest in. Before their initial investment, they are taken through another lesson about that asset’s potential risks.
After that, they can deposit cryptocurrency from their own wallets or another crypto platform by making a transfer to the displayed crypto wallet address on Pillow. In some countries where Pillow has partnered with local, compliant on-ramp service providers, users can also buy crypto with their local fiat currency. Pillow supports deposits and withdrawals with fiat currency through local partnerships in Nigeria, the Philippines and Vietnam, with plans to add more across Southeast Asia, Africa and Latin America with its new funding.
The startup’s largest user base is in Nigeria, and it also has a major presences in India, Ghana and Vietnam, and growing user bases in Brazil, the Philippines and Sri Lanka. It focuses on retail investors, enabling them to start with investments as small as $5.
Since Pillow’s users are from different geographies, its closest competitors also come from around the world. They include crypto exchange Luno in Africa, multi-asset exchange Pluang (another Accel investment) in Southeast Asia and global crypto savings app Nexo. Pillow’s founders says it differentiates with its goal of becoming a holistic home for digital asset-driven financial services that allows even first time crypto users users to earn, save, spend and invest from the same platform.
Pillow is currently in growth phase and plans on introducing transaction fees as new products, including swaps and tokenized real world assets are introduced. It currently makes profits on returns generated on top of the 5% to 10.42% returns made accessible to users. Pillow keeps a small percentage of the spread generated, and another portion also goes into its yield reserves.

Everything You Need To Know Before Buying A Comforter
After a heavy day’s work, you would want to sleep in a cosy and warm setting, ensuring you get a refreshing and good night’s sleep. This is when buying the right duvet or comforter for winter becomes the most integral task. Uncomfortable duvets can be quite heavy or excessively hot, directly impacting your level and satisfaction of sleep. While on a quick search, you can find a number of options that look appealing, narrowing it down to the best one can be challenging. You will have to make a choice based on terms like ‘fill power’, ‘baffle construction’ and whatnot. This can make it quite confusing for first-time buyers looking for the best reversible duvets online. Luckily, this article explains all the necessary factors you need to know about a duvet or comforter before you finalise your choice.
Tumblr media
Are Duvet And Comforters Any Different?
While a majority of the buyers think duvets, duvet covers and comforters are synonymous, they do slightly differ. Their primary function is the same, which is to provide comfort and warmth as a covering on the best. However, a duvet is a simple white comforter that gets filled with down alternatives or a down. A comforter is usually the same, but it comes in different colours and does not have a cover. A duvet cover, on the other hand, gets used to envelop the actual thing, just like how a pillow case works. It helps keep the duvet or comforter from slipping out or getting dirty.
Should You Get A New One?
Knowing when to change your duvet or comforter is not easy. If you are looking for a reversible comforter online to replace your old one, instead of just making the purchase, first understand if you even need it. A good quality comforter or duvet can last you anywhere from 10 to 20 years, based on how often you use it. If you are only changing it to unify the look of your room, you can simply use a duvet cover. You can find many different patterns and colours of duvet covers, even with matching pillowcases. However, if your duvet has lost its fluff or worn down, it is best you choose to buy a new one. Changing the filling or re-stitching can take quite a long time. In addition, these stitches might eventually come off, while a new one will last you a significantly longer time.
What to Look For In a Duvet or Comforter?
Before you invest in a new duvet or comforter, you should know it is not an inexpensive purchase. This is also the reason why you should take ample time before making your decision. Compare the prices and features, consider the purchase and only then go forward with it. If you are having a hard time finding the best-suited reversible duvet online India or comforter, here are some important checks you should ensure.
·         Aesthetics
·         Outer fabric
·         Inner fill
·         Fill features
·         Overall size
·         Cost
What Are The Different Types Of Duvets And Comforters Available?
Even with that in mind, you might not be sure which comforter or duvet to pick as there are so many types. Each of these types is made to suffice a particular purpose, and understanding what you are looking for in one can help you narrow your choices. The four main types of warm duvets for winter India include:
1.      Baffle box
2.      Quilt stitching
3.      Channel
4.      Gusset
With this information, you can rest assured that you will make a worthwhile purchase. Make sure you choose a company that is well-reputed and known for quality products.

Excerpt from Melissa Farley and Inge Kleine’s chapter “Harm and Its Denial: Sex Buyers, Pimps, and the Politics of Prostitution, with Particular Attention to German Legal Prostitution,” which is Chapter 16 in my new radical feminist anthology, “Spinning and Weaving: Radical Feminism for the 21st Century”:
“Is prostitution harmful?
To understand the role of sex buyers, it’s necessary to understand what prostitution is and its impact is on the women, men, and transwomen in prostitution. Sexual violence and physical assault are the norm for women in all prostitution, legal or not. A brothel owner in the Netherlands complained about an ordinance requiring that brothels have pillows in the rooms, ‘You don’t want a pillow in the [brothel’s] room. It’s a murder weapon.’ Aware of sex buyers’ violence, the legal Dutch pimp knew that sex buyers are regularly murderous toward women. Women in prostitution experience violence that includes incest, rape, and battering. Survivors of prostitution explain, ‘It's like domestic violence taken to the extreme.’ A Canadian prostituted woman said, ‘what is rape for others, is normal for us.’
Regardless of its legal status, prostitution harms the women and girls in it, according to extensive evidence. In addition to psychological trauma, prostitution harms women physically. Heide (2016) and Bissinger (2019) have documented extensive harms caused by German prostitution to women's reproductive systems and immune systems. Concluding that all prostitution, both legal and illegal, is contemptuous of women and humanity, built on exploitation and cruelty, Bissinger and others have documented the refusal to use condoms by a majority of sex buyers, whether in Germany as advertised by legal brothels, in Canada, India, or USA, exposing the women to venereal and in some cases deadly, disease. Women in prostitution face overwhelmingly high rates of rape and homicide and are murdered at a rate that is among the highest ever documented among women. The death rate of women in prostitution was forty times higher than that of the general population, according to a Canadian commission. Another study reported a 36% incidence of attempted murder of women in prostitution. Describing prostituted women as the most raped women on the planet, Susan Hunter at the Council for Prostitution Alternatives in Oregon reported that prostituted women were raped an average of once a week. Eighty-five percent of prostituting women in Minnesota had been raped in prostitution. In addition, prostituting women are regularly physically assaulted and verbally abused, whether they prostitute on the street, or in strip clubs, or in brothels.
In Germany, 92% of prostituting women experienced sexual harassment, 87% suffered physical violence, and 59% suffered sexual violence. Since prostitution was normalized as ‘sex work’ in 2002, there have been 86 murders and 59 attempted murders of women in German prostitution.
Poverty and homelessness are both antecedent to and a consequence of prostitution. Among 854 women, men, and transwomen in prostitution from Canada, Colombia, Germany, Mexico, South Africa, Thailand, Turkey, United States, & Zambia, 75% had been homeless at some point in their lives. Eighty-nine percent of these people in prostitution in 9 countries wanted to escape prostitution, but did not see other options for survival. The emotional consequences of prostitution are the same in widely varying cultures whether prostitution is legal or illegal, in a brothel, a strip club, a massage parlor, or the street. In 9 countries on 5 continents, two-thirds of women, men and transwomen in prostitution met diagnostic criteria for posttraumatic stress disorder. This level of extreme emotional distress is the same as that seen in the most traumatized people studied by psychologists: battered women, raped women, combat veterans, and survivors of state-sponsored torture. Symptoms of emotional distress in all prostitution are off the charts: depression, suicidality, posttraumatic stress disorder, dissociation, substance abuse, and eating disorders. Across widely varying cultures, the traumatic consequences of prostitution were similar whether prostitution was legal, tolerated, illegal, whether indoors or outdoors.
Pimps and sex buyers commodify and dehumanize women in prostitution, removing her personhood. A sex buyer described prostitution as ‘renting an organ for 10 minutes.’ Women in prostitution are not considered fully human. They are seen as body parts or temporary girlfriends whose feelings are irrelevant. A woman who prostituted for 19 years in Canada explained prostitution in much the same way that sex buyers did, ‘They own you for that half hour or that twenty minutes or that hour. They are buying you. They have no attachments, you're not a person, you're a thing to be used.’ The sex buyer demands that she enact his fantasies about women and sexuality. She conveys that she is subordinate and sexually available. Her name changes, her appearance changes, her body movements change, her voice changes. As Norwegian women in prostitution explained, she is transformed in prostitution into a thing to be used for the sex buyer to empty himself into.  Andrea Dworkin wrote of the prostituted woman, ‘... she has no name. She is a mouth, a vagina, and an anus ...who is she?  She is no one. Not metaphorically no one. Literally, no one.’”

Arshi FF: Charade - Chapter 35
Tumblr media
Chapter 34 // Read on FFnet // Read on Wattpad
Chapter 35: Constellation
Khushi
“—I’m here!” Mami-ji flounced into the study. “I asked Hari Prakash to make us some popcorn. Now we can watch.”
She settled on the sofa next to them, eyes already eagerly trained onto the screen. “Hello, hi, bye-bye. I’m eager to see who this Tanya is. In the precap last week she looked so good. All modern and beautiphool!”
Exchanging a look with her Jiji, who sat next to her on the couch, Khushi responded, “The actress is very pretty. I hope Sagar is nicer to her than he is to Muskaan.”
Jiji reached for the popcorn Mami-ji had placed on the table.
“Here, I think he was right to be angry,” she said. “She can’t just do whatever she wants without thinking about the consequences!”
Gasping, Khushi stole some popcorn from her sister’s hand, “It was a mistake, she didn’t know it was his house!”
“You just watch,” Mami-ji gestured at the screen. “You know how these serials go. She’ll vow to never see him again and end up working in his media empire as a receptionist, hello, hi, bye-bye.”
They subsided as the disclaimer came on the screen. Khushi returned to her phone, deleting two emojis from her message before pressing send.
“Payal?”
Just outside the sitting area, Aakash-ji held a shirt as he stared bemusedly at the television.
“Bitwa, what do you want?”
“N-no, Maa, I was looking for Payal.”
By now, Jiji had met Aakash-ji at the threshold of the room, “What is it, Aakash?”
They stepped away to hold a short, murmured conversation. Khushi looked at her phone in an effort to give them privacy, just as it lit up. The screen showed her message and the response:
Khushi: We’re watching Rabba Ve in the study, in case you come home and can’t find me. You should watch with us!
Arnav-ji: Very funny, Khushi.
Smiling, she quickly typed out a reply. He responded almost immediately.
Khushi: Aakash Jija-ji is here too, watching with us. Why don’t you ever join us?
Arnav-ji: What Aakash does in his marriage is his own business. I’m in the car, see you soon.
Jiji returned to her place on the sofa after a few minutes, the shirt and a needle and thread in her hands. Aakash Jija-ji flopped next to his mother after snatching up some popcorn.
“This is nonsense,” he interrupted a few minutes later. “Why are there so many shots of him walking dramatically? It’s taken him five minutes to reach his office and now he’s leaving again.”
“You just shut-up-iyai, Aakash-bitwa. This is no place for your logic, it’s a serial.”
Khushi heart swelled with gladness as she watched Aakash-ji exchange a contrite look with Jiji, who had to stifle a giggle.
The episode was almost over by the time the doorbell chimed. Khushi stood, waving away Jai Prakash-ji on her way to open the doors. Arnav-ji gave her a small smile as she took his laptop bag.
“How was your show?”
Khushi bounced, “It was good.”
They stopped to say hello to Di, who paused in her reading of a magazine to ask Arnav-ji about his day. And again to chat with Aakash-ji in the study.
“Do you really want me to watch it with you?” her husband asked when they were in their bedroom.
Khushi closed the door with a soft click, “No, I was just teasing you.”
He took the laptop bag from her and placed it on the table before taking her into his arms. She exhaled shakily as the tension she hadn’t realised was there left her body.
“I’ve been thinking about something,” he spoke softly. “Will you come back here with me after dinner?”
Khushi peered up at him, “Why?”
“Just come up here with me. It’s important.”
She stretched up to kiss his jaw, and whispered in his ear when he bent his head, “I told you last night: don’t tell me what to do.”
A laugh that lit up everything inside her. He was still smiling when he kissed her, slow and playful. He left her briefly to change and freshen up, and then led her downstairs with his fingers twined in hers.
Shyam-ji had arrived in time for dinner, much to Di’s delight. She showed everyone the tiny pink cap she’d knitted for her rajkumari as the servants set up the dining table.
“Chhote, look, isn’t it cute? I’m thinking of making matching socks.”
The cap looked even tinier in Arnav-ji’s hand. “This is nice, Di.”
“Rani Sahiba is so talented, don’t you agree Saale-Sahib?”
Arnav-ji didn’t reply, though his smile became strained. Di shoved good-naturedly at Shyam-ji as she spoke again.
“You know, the doctor said that it would be good if we played soft music for our rajkumari.”
“I can get you CDs,” offered Aakash-ji. “Payal and I are going out tomorrow.”
“Okay,” Di said brightly, “I’ll make you a list.”
After dinner, Arnav-ji sent her upstairs with a promise to meet her after a few minutes. Khushi climbed the stairs with her sister, who relayed a list of all the things she intended to buy the next day before mentioning a tentative plan to have dinner in Laxmi Nagar. Twirling in excitement, she promised to ask Arnav-ji and let Jiji know in the morning.
Inside their bedroom, she sat on the recliner to wait for her husband. He arrived a few short minutes later laden with blankets and pillows, which he took straight to the poolside. She locked the bedroom door behind him and followed, watching as he set all the blankets on the ground and arranged the pillows.
“You like the stars, don’t you?” he noticed her hovering. “Come, sit.”
She knelt on the edge of the blankets, something unsettled inside her. Arnav-ji reached up to tug her wrist so she fell against him.
“Arnav-ji … someone will see,” she tried to get up.
“What the—? Who will see?”
Khushi shifted nervously, “Mami-ji, you said she was watching with binoculars the other day.”
He made a sound of amusement and held her close, not speaking until she’d tucked herself into him.
“I spoke to her about that. I reminded her that I could have cameras installed all over the house if she was so concerned about what happened in my bedroom.”
“Arnav-ji!”
He was unrepentant, “She agreed that there’s no need for her binoculars.”
They spent a few minutes watching the stars, with him pointing up and naming a few constellations before telling her stories about them. When she accused him of making them up, he claimed the stories were quite famous in history. He stole a few kisses, let her steal a few in return, and covered them both in a blanket when she shivered.
“Khushi,” he began after a short silence, “a while ago you said there’s so much you still don’t know about me. I told you that all you had to do is ask.”
“I remember.”
“Well, then … ask.”
She shifted onto her elbow to look at him, “What can I ask about?”
“Anything.”
She started small. His favourite colour was red, as Di had once told her. His favourite subject at school had been science.
“Who took the photos,” Khushi gestured inside, “the ones on the walls?”
“Me.”
“You!?”
Arnav-ji kissed her soundly, his hand skimming up her side. “No need to be so surprised.”
It took her a while to catch her breath.
“What happened to Sim-ji and Pam-ji from the office? I haven’t seen them since I returned.”
His response was carefully measured, “They felt I’d treated Lavanya badly and asked me to find them new jobs. I did.”
“Oh.”
She fell silent, at first surprised by the loyalty shown by the women, and then not surprised at all.
They were her friends.
“Have you heard from Lavanya-ji? How is she?”
Arnav-ji tucked a curl of hair behind her ear. “That’s one of the things I wanted to speak to you about. I hadn’t heard from her in months but she emailed today. She wants to go into modelling and asked me to connect her with an agent.”
A burst of happiness for her friend. “That sounds great. Are you going to help her?”
“I wanted to ask you first. Does it … will it bother you if I speak to her?”
“No!”
Instantly, she knew she’d answered too quickly. Arnav-ji stroked his finger across her cheek.
“How about,” he said softly, “I tell you when I speak to her?”
Khushi smiled widely, “It’s okay, you don’t have to.”
He brushed his thumb over her bottom lip before dipping his head to kiss her. “She knows we’re married. Said congratulations.”
“Were there other women?” she blurted, “before Lavanya-ji?”
He froze on his way to kiss her cheek.
“Khushi, I want to answer all your questions but some of the answers will hurt you.”
She shook her head, “I’m not asking because it will hurt. I want to understand you. I want to know you.”
With a sigh, he turned onto his back and tucked an arm behind his head.
“Lisa. You met her on the night of the photoshoot.”
This, Khushi had suspected as soon as the woman had leaned in to sniff Arnav-ji’s cologne and run possessive hands over his suit.
“She seemed so …”
“… high strung?” Arnav-ji chuckled. “I know. We only saw each other a few times. She always made it into a bigger thing than it was.”
“That’s it?” Khushi asked, feeling a little better.
“And … Sheetal in college.”
Unlike when he spoke about Lisa-ji, the cadence of his voice indicated happy memories.
“At … Ha … Harv … ?” she tried to remember the writing on his jogging clothes.
“Harvard,” Arnav-ji said easily. “Yeah, she did her MBA with me.”
“MBA?”
“Masters of Business Administration.”
He seemed to relax as their conversation shifted away from his past relationships, and for the first time, Khushi realised how hard it’d been for him to speak about them. The fact that he’d still done it filled her with happiness. Scooting across, she rested her head on his shoulder and slid her arms around him. His fingers found their way into her hair.
“And that taught you to run a business?” she asked.
“The theory of it, yes. When I came back to India, I found it was much harder in practice.”
Under the cover of the blankets, she ran her hand under his shirt and sweater. He jumped a little — “your hand is cold!” — but trapped her fingers there when she tried to retreat.
“I’d used all the money I had just to get through college. When I returned I had next to nothing. Mami believed in me. She sold her jewellery, broke her FD, gave me everything she had. She was my very first investor.”
“Does this mean she owns some of your company now?”
“Everyone does. Di and I control it together, but Mami, Mama, and Aakash all have shares. Aakash gave some of his to Payal. I’ve put through some paperwork, you should have yours soon.”
He wanted to share his life’s work with her. Her heart seemed to swell with the warm and golden sense of belonging. Of rightness. Khushi flattened her palm against his stomach, murmuring a request so he shifted until she could kiss him. He groaned, flipping them around and deepening the kiss. When they came up for air, he was shirtless and her dori was undone and she’d made a mark on his shoulder. Her bangles lay in a neat column above their heads.
“Let’s go inside,” he whispered.
They made it there somehow, though she lost her dupatta along the way, and fell onto the bed in a tangle after closing the curtains. His kiss was hot. The rough tenderness of his touch undid her, a leisurely exploration that had her gasping his name. Never had she felt more treasured, more wanted. Arnav removed the overcoat of her outfit and tossed it onto the floor. He held her in place for another kiss, whispering her name against her lips.
She moved restlessly against him, her hips rolling towards the hardness she could feel pressed against her thigh. He groaned, his hand slipping from her nape, down to her hips, and lower to curve over her bottom. She sucked in a breath when his stubble scratched her skin. An apology mumbled against her neck, his hand angling her so they fit perfectly.
When he traced his fingers lightly over her lips, she remembered the clench of her body as he’d taken her fingers into his mouth. Desire coiled hot and tight in her belly and made her brave enough to tilt her head so his fingers slipped between her lips. A low, taut moan escaped him. Then he turned her into her front with gentle hands. Straddling the backs of her thighs, he dragged the zipper of her dress down. Khushi curled her fingers into her pillow, feeling her breath catch. His hands traced up her spine, unsnapping her bra when he reached it.
“I don’t think you should wear this to bed,” his touch was warm on her skin.
“Wh-what? Why?”
“Less for me to take off.”
She heard the smirk in his voice. Her giggle turned into a moan as he settled on top of her, the heat of his chest on her almost-bare back. When she turned her head to ask for a kiss, he gave her one. It was deep, slow, and made her toes curl as her body throbbed with wanting him. The kisses moved to her nape and then down her spine. She made a soft, desperate sound, feeling as though everything inside her was melting.
Almost without permission, her body arched towards his, and he took advantage to slip his fingers inside the dress and around her ribs. A hand on her breast. She fell forward with a small cry, trapping it there.
“I like you like this,” Arnav spoke in her ear as his hand moulded her. “All mine.”
More kisses, his mouth moving over hers in time with the movements of his hand. And when she thought she couldn’t take much more, he moved away.
“No,” Khushi tried to sit up.
“Take off the dress,” he murmured.
He helped her undress, tugging at her clothes until she was left face down on the bed with nothing but his body covering her. He was still mostly clothed. Another kiss, his tongue inside her mouth as his hand slid under her to resume its play on her breast. Her hands clenched into the sheets. She felt utterly at his mercy, trapped under the heat of him as he had access to every part of her body. But she also felt safe, surrounded by his strength.
By the time he stroked his hand downwards she was almost quivering with need. It was natural to lift her hips a little to give him room. He didn’t hesitate. Her gasp became a moan as he slid a finger down her centre. And then back up, all the while whispering into her ear. All the words he didn’t say in the daytime now spilled out of him, words of love, of adoration.
Arnav’s fingers dipped even lower, breaching her for one breathless second before stroking back up. It was agony. He did it again and again, teasing, playing, sliding his finger deeper each time before retreating, and chuckled at the frustrated sound she released.
“We’re working on your patience, remember?” a kiss to her shoulder.
But the next time, he stayed. Kissing her deeply, he did something that made her frantic. She stopped thinking, pleasure burning like wildfire in every cell of her body. It was different from the night before. Tighter and hotter and just more. When her pleasure crested she muffled herself in a pillow, feeling wave and after wave of sensation crash into her. It turned the world red.
When she came back to herself he was still astride her, lazily stroking his fingers down her back.
“You okay?” he asked.
Khushi hummed, trying to turn, and smiled when he rose just enough to let her. He placed her hands on his chest after nibbling each finger in turn and shuddered as she ran her nails down his body. A kiss, tender and possessive and full of desire. A renewed tension twisted inside her as he ran his hands over her body and his mouth followed.
He seemed to get distracted by her breasts, lingering as he took a long, slow taste. His hair felt soft against her fingers. She accidentally pulled at it when she felt his teeth, causing him to groan. He asked if she liked this or this, or maybe this, and with each whispered question, each thrilling demonstration, the frenzy in her body built. His fingers became urgent on her hips and thighs.
“Again?” he spoke against her lips when she arched into him.
Something in her tummy swooped low at his question. She nodded, and Arnav shifted so he could press directly against her. He’d gotten rid of his pants without her noticing, and the material of his underwear did nothing to disguise the scorch or shape of him. He seemed to lose control, his hand plumping her flesh before he sucked a peak into his mouth. She cried out when he rocked, her hands locking onto his shoulders.
He returned to her lips, “Hold on.”
Then he moved, each circle of his hips causing stars to explode behind her eyes. She forced them open to find him looking down at her, eyes ablaze and mouth slightly open, his hair falling across his forehead. The muscles in his shoulders bunched as he moved. It was the unprecedented intimacy of it that did it. She reached the cliff and hurtled over it again, her mouth shaping his name as pleasure rippled within her. He continued to press against her, speeding up as he pushed once, twice.
“More,” he groaned into her hair.
Khushi ran her teeth over the jagged pulse in his neck and bit down. He shuddered, swearing, and froze for several long seconds. His breath was harsh against her ear as he seemed to collapse, feeling heavy, as if — until now — he’d been careful not to let her feel his full weight. Heart still racing, she stroked a hand through his hair until he stirred, taking her with him as he rolled onto this back. His stubble was rough on her skin as he pressed lazy kisses wherever he could reach.
“Give me a moment,” he spoke softly, “and then we’ll get cleaned up.”
There was a pressure in her chest, as if she couldn’t contain the happiness she felt inside. Khushi fought a yawn, “Okay.”
