Izzy-centric, any ships — Izzy gives up, his body gives out

At some point, Izzy reaches his breaking point and just stops fighting. Maybe it's the reunion, maybe Ed tells Izzy he's not needed/wanted, maybe the kraken burns away Izzy's X tattoo/take his ring. Maybe Izzy is no longer first mate.

In any case, the final straw, Izzy stops fighting. And it was really only the fight that was keeping him running. Old battle injuries, sore muscles, maybe infection to the toe. Once Izzy isn't fighting anymore he straight up collapses, his body gives out. He doesn't have the willpower left to keep on like this.

Angst, sickfic, hurt/comfort, character death. Do with this idea what you will.

Stizzy/Gen — Izzy needs a nap

Stede will admit, it takes him a bit to notice -

After kraken era, and reunion, Izzy stops sleeping. Stede notices, concerned as he observes it affecting his health, becomes determined to make the cranky man to nap. Schemes at first alone, fails, with aid of the crew, fails, eventually after mounting escapades there is a confrontation.

Or,

Traumatized Izzy starts sleeping at random times in random crevasses of the ship. With full crew back, and Ed less homicidal he finds it harder and harder to sleep. He thinks he may be loosing it a touch? He swears Bonnet keeps chasing him with blankets - but that can’t be right? People keep handing him warm beverages.

Endgame Steddyhands — Izzy leaves, dramatic fake breakup to bring him back

Stede/Ed have reunited and are in a strong, stable relationship.

Izzy thinks Edward no longer needs him, no longer wants him, and Izzy doesn't feel like he has a place with the crew either. So when another captain offers him a position on their ship, Izzy accepts. Izzy only sends a note or message with a crewmate, "Take care of him Bonnet, if you leave him again or hurt him I'll find you and rip your throat out".

Ed's devastated by Izzy leaving. Stede too, depending on how you want to write the Izzy/Stede dynamic.

No matter what they do they can't seem to get a message to Izzy on the other ship.

So after a conversation about relationships, bearing Izzy's last message in mind Ed and Stede concoct a plan for an elaborate, over the top, fake breakup, which they stage to lure Izzy back. Like the drama teacher theater directors they are. Possibly with help from the whole crew.

Bonus for Izzy going after Stede with a knife for "breaking" Edwards heart, only to be met by "unhand me or bleed" Stede.

Pre or early SteddyHands — Ed realizes he doesn't want Izzy to change

Early or pre Steddyhands, Ed and Stede are having a conversation about the Izzy situation. How they both care for him, want him with them, etc.

And Stede starts trying to be helpful, brainstorm ways for Izzy to get along better with the crew, shout less, have better table manners. Something of that nature.

And Ed gets upset by this, maybe not understanding why. But he realizes he doesn't want Izzy to change, go become softer. He loves him as is, the feral, angry little man, who questions orders, sasses his captains, cares so intensely about their safety and the ship. He loves Izzy and Stede, and doesn't want Stede to change Izzy.

Established SteddyHands — Izzy realizing to his horror that Stede is even more unhinged than Ed

Just Izzy slowly coming to the realization that now he has two utterly unhinged madmen (affectionate) as boyfriends, he's in love with two detached from reality people, in love with them, trying to manage their moods and keep them alive. Oh god he's got two of them now, and Bonnet is somehow worse.

He used to wish Edward would be willing to kill people. Now that he's seeing what that's like with Stede he has... regrets.

No major injury/character deaths, no breakups, just Izzy struggling with being the functional reasoning one of the triad of emotionally broken idiots.

(All with love, but all three have serious issues and too often Stede gets written as the reasonable one. I love soft Stede. I also love absolutely bonkers Stede and frustrating Izzy.)

Ed/Izzy, Any/Izzy — Ed gets jealous, possessive, that makes Izzy angry

Sometime post reunion, established Stede/Ed, Izzy is romantically or sexually with someone other than Ed.

Maybe Izzy/Ivan/Fang happened while Stede was gone and Izzy was emotionally vulnerable. Maybe Izzy/Lucius or Izzy/Roach. Maybe Jack turns up again, alive, and Stede throws a fit because he's banned from the ship, and Izzy offers to go "distract" him because Jack's a big ol Izzy simp. Maybe somehow Stede/Izzy is happening. Maybe it's a fling with some unnamed rando we don't care about.

In any case, Edward finds out about Izzy's relationship and goes all out possessive, jealous, you're mine see this x mark on your face, etc.

But Izzy doesn't react as expected, accepting anything from Edward and desperate for his attention. Instead, Izzy is mad as hell about it. Did Ed think about thier relationship or care to ask Izzy's opinion when he was pining over Stede? Has Ed looked twice at him in fucking years? What, so Edward's allowed to move on from the horrible unhealthy thing they became as Blackbeard but Izzy isnt allowed to try and find happiness of his own? Fuck off Ed.

Ed/Izzy, Izzy + Everyone — No one listens to Izzy so he simply stops talking, selective mutism

Post-Kraken where everyone's seems to have made up but there's still lingering tension among the crew.

Despite doing his best to keep the ship running, everyone (even the Captains) is giving him the cold shoulder. Add that to Ed's hair-trigger temper to the slightest mistake Izzy does (proof that the Kraken hasn't really gone away), Izzy's anxiety skyrockets.

In an environment where speaking is met with either silence, mockery or punishment, Izzy just stops talking altogether.

It takes a while before everyone catches on and become worried. The final straw to everyone (especially the captains) realizing how it's them who've fucked up this time is when Izzy gets cornered in a raid and he's unable to call out for help out of anxiety.

+ Izzy's mutism does get treated but whether the recovery is slow or not is up to the author! + Ed/Izzy or Stede/Ed/Izzy endgame! + Bonus points if Izzy's anxiety (outside of mutism) is acknowledged.

Izzy is cursed to follow every order his captain gives him. Whether he wants to or not. After they killed Horngood, Ed tried to be respectful of this. But after Stede left, Ed looses those reservations.

So when they run into one of Stede's old classmates who used to bully him, it doesn't take much for Izzy to pull the trigger.

Izzy starts or restarts T and is absolutely losing his mind. The poor man needs to be sent to horny jail immediately. Ofc, because it’s Izzy, he refuses to communicate with his boyfriend(s) about it and is just Suffering instead.

Izzy is a ghost and has been a ghost since Hornigold killed him in the original Mutiny. His unfinished business is Edward. Ed loves him, can’t let him go, and Izzy swore himself to him and can’t let him go. Izzy is so weaved into Blackbeard and who Edward is he couldn’t let go of him if he wanted to - which he doesn’t.

Stede didn’t understand, and then once he is filled in - he tries to find a way to make Izzy flesh again. For Edward, and then for Izzy, and eventually for himself.

Blackhands then Gentlebeard then Steddyhands.

Stede/Ed/Izzy, Izzy + crew — Mind-reading trope but reverse, everyone can read Izzy's mind

Izzy lashes out at something and is being an asshole. The everyone talks about it and, in the light of a particularly bright full moon, someone mentions how they'd love to know what the hell Izzy's thinking, if only to know how fucked he is in the head to everyone's agreement.

When they wake up the next day and Izzy seems to be having a fit, everyone is shocked to discover that they can hear him, even after he's stopped talking. At first it's funny, hearing Izzy complain and grumble in his own head.

Until a worrying pattern emerges. Izzy panicking to himself when their food supply runs low, gearing himself up to starve so he can provide other people his rations. How he feels left out and jealous whenever he sees affection between the crew, how he never feels enough and just assumes he's not meant to belong. How he's grown fond of the crew and loves Ed and Stede but is always ready to be cast away, that he's always been the disposable sort.

They set out to make things right and properly gather Izzy into their fold.

TLDR; the crew accidentally wish upon the moon to be able to read Izzy's mind and wow, Israel Hands is really fucked up... and needs a hug.

+ The wish eventually wears off and Izzy never finds out about it. During all that, the crew have grown overprotective of their prickly First Mate and the captains realize their own affection for him. + Ramp up the angst with Izzy's self-worth issues, nightmares, Hornigold and other trauma, and the Toe/Kraken-era!!! Make him cry and hurt (and give him the softest happy ending that would end me please).

Stede/Ed/Izzy, Izzy + Mary & the kids — Stede's old family gets along with Izzy more than him

Set months after the reunion and the three of them getting together, Stede decides it's time for Ed and Izzy to meet his old family. He's been sharing letters with Mary and his kids and they're interested in meeting his 'boyfriends'.

Ed's as charming as ever and is is quick to befriend Mary, Doug, and the children. Izzy however, to everyone's surprise, is turning out to be the favorite. He and Mary get along like a house on fire (and share many anecdotes of Stede fucking Bonnet), Doug enjoys Izzy's eye for detail and practicality, and the kids are enamored with this gruff little man who's blunt with his words but just as gentle in action (who also stabbed their once absentee father that one time).

Ed finds it endearing, knowing that Izzy is charming and friendly when he feels comfortable. Stede is obviously happy to see his loved ones get along. Of course! Except that he feels envious of Izzy's rapport with his family, that both his children are more excited to have Izzy's attention than his. That Mary seems to gravitate to Izzy more.

Without meaning to, Stede lashes out at Izzy. Things are said, feelings are hurt, and Ed's not letting anyone back on the ship until they sort this out.

+ Inspired by all the uncle!Izzy fanworks out there. + Mary and/or the kids may get along with/relate to Izzy more but it doesn't diminish their own affections for Ed and Stede! + Ed's holding their collective single braincell.

Stede/Izzy, Ed/Stede/Izzy — No touching if you can’t be nice

I am LOVING all these Izzy prompts so here’s one more inspired by a couple of them!

Post reunion Steddyhands is a thing. But Ed has fallen back into old habits and is being dismissive of Izzy’s concerns. Maybe he’s rough in bed with him but gentle with Stede. Or ignores him but cuddles with Stede.

Stede is appalled and takes Izzy and kicks Ed out until he gets his act together.

Cue pouting/moping Ed with an increasingly bad temper but the crew are NOT doing that again so they sit him down for an intervention.

+ I really just want to see Stede snatching Izzy away from Ed and Izzy being all “yeah, this is fine, I guess” while being relieved and confused.
