Shell quirks! Part 4, Mikey!

As a box turtle, Mikey can close his shell completely to keep out anything that might get in to bother him! Like annoying brothers, for example. Outta sight, outta mind lol

I used to make tons of Christmas cookies with extended family that I would bring home after the holiday, but alas, every single one would disappear come morning without a crumb for me. Either Santa stuck around another night or I lived with ravenous wolves rather than people! I ended up having to hide the stash to dole them out at a reasonable pace (while saving myself my share) lol

Quick post on what's happening in Atlanta right now

So there's this beautiful trail in Atlanta called the South River Forest Trail. As we all know, Atlanta Georgia is renowned for their tree cover and historic forests. 

The City of Atlanta and corporations like Delta, AT&T and Amazon are funding a massive police training center that will destroy the forest.

Dubbed ‘cop city’ by many protesters, this will cost about $90 million  to build. This will be used to further militarize Atlanta’s police leading to more incidents of police brutality in the city. 

On January 18th indigenous activist Manuel “Tortuguita” Teran was shot and killed by the police for defending this historic forest from destruction. Their reason? “He did not comply” (Tort went by They/them/it but report said “he”). Many protests have been going on in Atlanta to defend this forest.

Since Tortuguita's death, the situation has quickly deteriorated

This forest is very dear to me but I am unable to physically protest at the moment, so I am handing this off to Tumblr to spread awareness. Rebloging this may help this tragedy become part of national news instead of just an Atlanta problem.

Not like a kid fit, literally just throwing and kicking trash while cursing in Spanish while Mama is trying to calm her down. Miguel is both horrorified but also on the verge of dying of laughter, especially with Mama glaring some holes into him lol

"Gabi" you called but she ignored you. Hands crossed on her chest as she kicked the poor rock that happened to be in her way.

Despite her dad sticking up to her to that mean man that always gave her a disgusted stare, her team lost last minute due a self-score a teammate of her did. Victor.

Both Miguel and you stopped dead in your tracks. Horror struck your face at the foul word that flew out of your daughter's lip.

"Gabriela..." Miguel warned and she only frowned as tears menaced to flow on her eyes. You kneeled next to her and cupped her cheeks.

"I know this game was important to you, and you spent alot of time practicing, but that language isn't allowed for you, mi amor. Would you like to go to get some pizza?"

She sniffed and shook her head. Miguel kneeled and cupped her flushed in anger cheeks instead, as fat tears rolled quietly on her face.

"Solecito, mírame" (Look at me, Sunshine)

She did in between blurred eyes, hiccuping as she cried.

"You did your best, okay? You were great. Sometimes things just don't go as planned and that's okay too."

"Es que son tan estúpidos y lentos!" (They're just so stupid and slow)

Miguel just hugged her and carried her in his arms, letting the meltdown cool down. He couldn't help but bite his lip, trying to keep the laughter at bay as you glared holes into him.

He didn't know if he was proud or terrified for Gabi to be a a copycat of his character. And he of course wouldn't hear the end of it when you got back home.

Btw friendly reminder that the anime cut the scene where after jumping off the sinking ship Mitchell and Hawthorne encountered James L. - the Guild's top-level's secretary that the pm killed at the end of season 1 -... Stede/Ed/Izzy, Izzy + crew — Mind-reading trope but reverse, everyone can read Izzy's mind

Izzy lashes out at something and is being an asshole. The everyone talks about it and, in the light of a particularly bright full moon, someone mentions how they'd love to know what the hell Izzy's thinking, if only to know how fucked he is in the head to everyone's agreement.

When they wake up the next day and Izzy seems to be having a fit, everyone is shocked to discover that they can hear him, even after he's stopped talking. At first it's funny, hearing Izzy complain and grumble in his own head.

Until a worrying pattern emerges. Izzy panicking to himself when their food supply runs low, gearing himself up to starve so he can provide other people his rations. How he feels left out and jealous whenever he sees affection between the crew, how he never feels enough and just assumes he's not meant to belong. How he's grown fond of the crew and loves Ed and Stede but is always ready to be cast away, that he's always been the disposable sort.

They set out to make things right and properly gather Izzy into their fold.

TLDR; the crew accidentally wish upon the moon to be able to read Izzy's mind and wow, Israel Hands is really fucked up... and needs a hug.

+ The wish eventually wears off and Izzy never finds out about it. During all that, the crew have grown overprotective of their prickly First Mate and the captains realize their own affection for him. + Ramp up the angst with Izzy's self-worth issues, nightmares, Hornigold and other trauma, and the Toe/Kraken-era!!! Make him cry and hurt (and give him the softest happy ending that would end me please).

If Grey is interested in making Mizora stay with the group more of a "work of art", it's been discovered that she can fail her saving throw against a petrification spell. And doing so 3 times leaves one petrified forever. Still alive, and a beautiful art piece decoration though. (unless given basilisk oil. Woops, the last bottle of basilisk oil we had in camp just got smashed, what a shame. WOOPS) Just saying... >:3

A very fun suggestion! Alas! Unlike Mizora, Greyg's decision to torment is cemented and Mizora's fate is uh unfortunately not set in stone (heh) (Durge's upcoming adventures on the other hand.....ohohoho what basilisk oil?)

listen its not that tamlin locking feyre in a manor is ‘not a big deal’. its that sjm parallels tamlin and rhysand way too much for rhysand to be a viable, healthy option for feyre.

rhys put a whole city under a lockdown so severe people forgot about its existence (and from what the wiki says, the city was kept hidden for centuries even before, for the safety of its citizens) but tamlin locking feyre in a manor, so she wouldn’t follow him into an unsafe situation was crossing a line?
