A soft-looking painting of a young lady with fashionable hair in the 1840s. One look can convey one thousand words, and hers definitely does 🧐 Cécile Mendelssohn Bartholdy, née Jeanrenaud, in 1846. By Eduard Magnus. The son of Johann Magnus (founder of the Magnus-Bank), he studied at the University of Berlin, the Bauakademie and the Prussian Academy of Arts simultaneously, having acquired knowledge not only in Art, but also in Medicine, Architecture, Philosophy, and other varied subjects. A man of the Renaissance? Currently at the Staatsbibliothek Preußischer Kulturbesitz, Berlin. Wikimedia Commons. https://www.instagram.com/p/CUvQqQys8_q/?utm_medium=tumblr

Oh, I’ve just done the most geeky music nerd thing EVER. E V E R. The first picture is of a playlist I just saw on a classical music streaming service. Only the portrait is not that of Fanny Mendelssohn, but that of Cécile Jeanrenaud, Felix’ wife. The second picture is the real Fanny Mendelssohn. But Fanny’s full name was Cäcilie. Easy to see how this could be confusing. But I set that pedantically obnoxious e-mail to this service pointing out the error. I regret nothing. https://www.instagram.com/p/B0J5cNIByaG/?igshid=hm4rntc7n05t
