Do The Dads Know?
Synopsis: In which I list which soccer coaches are aware of their teams' crush on you (their adopted child/assistant coach) and how they feel about it.
Assistant Coach Masterlist
Supa Strikas- Coach/Phillipe
Oh, he ABSOLUTELY KNOWS. Even if he wasn't as observant as he was, he'd have to be BLIND if he couldn't see the way his teams faces seem to light up the moment you walk into the room. He knows you and all the Supa Strikas like the back of his hand so while it bothered him a bit at first, he knows that all of them do genuinely respect and care for you almost as much as he does. From a fatherly standpoint, he would be a little concerned if you pursued a relationship with one of the Strikas just because work and romance can be tricky to mix together, but he also trusts you to make decisions for yourself and could never deny you if you truly have found love with one of the Strikas. From a PROFESSIONAL perspective, relationships between coaches (assistant or not) are forbidden so if you do reciprocate any of their feelings then he'll trust that you understand that it won't be easy if you truly wish to follow in his footsteps about coaching Supa Strikas.
He makes it incredibly clear that if any of them make you uncomfortable, he will not stand for it and will put a stop to it immediately. But again, they're all good guys and he trusts him. He does side eye Shakes when he stammers and stutters around you before he looks at Dancing Rasta and they both try their hardest to fight back a smile. Overall, he handles it with grace and he won't tell you how they feel but if you mention one of them acting wierd (not in a bad way), then he'll just chuckle knowingly but shrug it off.
"As long as you all remember that its (Y/n)'s decision and don't let your feelings distract you, I don't see the problem with it."
Invincible United- Vince
Another "Oh, he absolutely knows" dad and he was absolutely furious when he realized it. He had his suspicions but it wasn't until Skarra offered to HELP YOU with something did it hit him like a train. For a while, he had really strict rules about personal relationships, would interrogate any of the players of their intentions if they appeared to be "overly" friendly, and then threaten them with random benching or changes to the game roster. However, he would ease on these policies because he would notice how your presence (or lack of it) effects the morale and motivation of the team. While he is still very possessive, he is also very self-serving, and if having you around produces more wins and increase of effort from his players then he'll begrudgingly allow it.
He also realizes that he can ensure you and Skarra stay in check by utilizing your...whatever it is you two have, to his advantage. You genuinely care about fostering Skarra's potential and Skarra seems to be more prone to listen to you. He doesn't like it but at the end of the day, he can't deny results.
"Because you idiots seem to play better when (Y/n) is around, I've decided to be less...strict about things. But, if any of you step out of line, I'll personally see to it that you're NEVER able to play soccer again."
Iron Tank- Coach Von Push Up
He'd notice EVENTUALLY. He's very caught up in developing strict training regimens, pushing himself to his own limits, and ensuring that Iron Tank is always performing at its best that he definetly will not notice right away. However, if small spats start to break out between the players or other changes of that sort then he'll start to piece it together. He would impose stricter rules and make training more grueling than usual. When he realizes that their feelings for you are genuine, then he can't help but soften at the thought that there are people who care about you just as much as he does. But if any of them try to pull something unsavory, he's making them spend the night in the mountains in nothing but their boxers and SOCKS.
A bit of a nosey dad too, honestly. If he notices you just talking or spend more time with someone like Ja Nien or Uber, then he just "curiously" asks what you were talking about and when you tell him, he's all: "Vas that all?" and you just look at him weirdly because what does he mean by that-
"ATTENTION! If you men wish to be worthy of mein (Y/n), zhen I expect you TO WIN EVERY SINGLE GAME THIS SEASON. I won't allow my child to be with a mediocre FOOL."
Grimm FC- Coach Belmont
Yes but that's because everyone on Grimm very unashamedly adores you. The way they look at you when you help with their make up and costume is very unmistakably one of love. There is a certain intensity as he scrutinized them, trying to measure if their love and devotion to you is truly as genuine as they claim it to be. However, if you seem to reciprocate one of their advances or assure him that their crush isn't something that bothers or disturbs you then he'll let it slide. Like Coach, Belmont does trust you to make your own decisions and knows he's raised you to seek for nothing less than you deserved.
Vladimir, being the team captain, would actually just straight up tell Coach Belmont about his feelings to you in very dramatic Grimm fashion. Belmont appreciated the respect of Vladimir telling him and was touched by his honesty but now it gets annoying because he has to deal with Vladimir and the rest talking about how they miss their "Beloved Ray of Moonlight" if you can't show up to something for any reason or when they randomly just declare their undying love for you. Overall, he trusts his team, but he's not above giving them vague threats as well.
"Just remember, if any of you cross (Y/n) in any way...then you cross me as well. And trust me when I say you don't want to cross me."
Technicali FC- Toni Vern
No, he doesn't notice anything. Toni is a neglectful coach and an even more neglectful father. He's too busy with creating insane plots against Supa Strikas to notice that everyone on his team is painfully in love with you. Which is kind of funny because they're all REALLY bad at hiding it as well, constantly tripping over themselves more than usual, or just visibly becoming putty in your hand. All he notices is that they'll threaten to tattle on him to you and he has to be all: "Now, now, there's no need to bother my darling (Y/n) about this-" because he knows you'll chew him out good for it.
BECAUSE TECHNICALI IS SO BAD AT HIDING IT, CHUCK AND THE OTHERS JUST DECIDED TO TELL YOU STRAIGHT UP BECAUSE EVERYONE IN THE SUPER LEAGUE COULD SEE HOW DOWN BAD THEY WERE but they were all, "So if we make you uncomfortable, just let us know because Toni is very clearly NOT going to do anything." and you just blinked but smiled at how sweet they are.
Nakama FC- Ura Giri
Okay so Ura Giri does care about you but he's in the same boat as Toni where he's too busy with his schemes to notice. Nakama isn't bad at hiding their crush but everyone on the team didn't feel right if they pined after you without letting Ura Giri be aware. So out of pure respect for him, they all went to office and told him straight to his face that they were all in love with you, and wanted to make sure if he was alright with them pursuing you. Ura Giri was half listening and was all: "Yeah, sure, go ahead. Do what you want-" and when Miko was all: "Sensei, I don't think you're completely understanding what it is we want. We want to make sure that we have your blessing-" and Ura Giri cut him off to say: "YES! YES! HAVE IT. Now please leave me be to my...uh, strategy planning!"
So if he finds out, which will be very unlikely, he can't be surprised or offended because they made their intentions VERY clear. In the rare moments where he DOES pay attention, he'll notice the tender moments his players have with you and will stroke his facial hair and be all: "Hmmm, if I didn't know any better, I'd think they have feelings for my (Y/n)-chan...Oh, my scheme is done!"
Hydra FC- Coach Del Aqua
Oh, he definetly notices it because they get more stupid and obnoxious whenever you're around. However, you're very much in your own world so it's kind of funny for him to see you unintentionally shut them down. He almost feels bad for the poor fools. If you happened to reciprocate, he would sit you down to talk to you about what engaging in a relationship with them would mean, and just make sure that you know what you're getting into. I feel like he'd be pretty neutral about the whole thing, not because he doesn't care, but mostly because you're all grown adults. Maybe he's a bit hesitant with Liquido because he's worried you might get dragged into his rivalry with North Shaw.
Overall, you can get roped into their shenanigans but you also know when to put your foot down and get them to listen up. So he's not particularly worried about you.
"Just don't let it distract you. I trust (Y/n) to make good decisions that will overrule your stupid ones."
Cosmos FC- Buddy Watkins
Okay so he "sets" you up with Ninja but he doesn't know that Ninja actually likes you. Let me explain: Ninja was always so entranced by you that it was just way too hard to hide and soon, reporters and gossip outlets went wild about the two of you. How you were always very doting on him (it's your job), the way he looked at you with such adoring eyes, and the general idea of a forbidden romance between an assistant coach and soccer player was very captivating to the masses. While Buddy isn't sure of the origin, he saw how much money and publicity this rumor was bringing him and in true businesses man fashion, decided to capitalize on it. He never checked the validity of the rumors because he asked you and since you weren't aware of Ninja's crush, you told him you had no idea where these rumors started but since they were good for the team, he saw no reason to stop them. The face of his company and hotels and the face of his soccer team together wasn't exactly a bad idea so he'll often have you nearby Ninja during his interviews and set you guys up for some "one-on-one" time at restaurants. You just sigh and smile apologetically at Ninja, WHO IS ABSOLUTELY THRILLED WITH THIS DEVELOPMENT.
"Haha, look at all this publicity! I gotta say, Ninja, yer pretty darn good at pretending you're in love with (Y/n)."
"Hahaha....yeah...pretending..."

Pride and Joy
Explaining your relationship with your father, some characteristics you have because of him (for better or for worse), and whether you treat your teams differently or the same, and more!
All of the readers were adopted at a young age and are all competitive (because it's soccer) to some degree; however, how competitive varies. Also, keep in mind I am in S6 currently.
Assistant Coach Au Masterlist
Supa Strikas
Your relationship with Coach is good! While no father-child relationship is 100% perfect, it’s safe to say that you and Coach make a pretty good duo. The trust between you two is strong, and even when there’s conflict, you both do a pretty good job of communicating with each other. However, you recognize your father’s tendency to be a tad bit too serious and aren’t above helping the team escape his shenanigans when you feel he’s going a bit too far. Even when you disagree or don’t see eye-to-eye, everyone can tell that you both care for each other no matter what.
Coach has left pretty big shoes for you to fill, which can sometimes cause you to be a little insecure and doubt yourself. However, it also gives you the motivation to push yourself and learn from your failures to push on. You feel a big sense of responsibility to prove yourself, and because of that, you tend to blame yourself when the team fails, especially if you insisted on taking charge of their strategy. Still, you never give up and promise to always get better. While you don’t like to admit that you’re incredibly competitive, you can’t help but shoot a smug look at the opposing coach when you’re team comes out on top.
Sometimes, the guys can’t tell how you’re related to Coach, but then there are days when it makes sense to them. Either way, you’re still an essential part of the team in their eyes, and they’ll make sure you don’t forget it. While your father disapproves of it a little, they love to have you tag along in their whacky shenanigans, and invite you to team bonding events. They recognize that you do your best, and while they love to tease and rag on you, they do hold you in high respect. They also have a tendency to hide behind you to avoid Coach’s wrath after a bad game.
Invincible United
Your relationship with Vince is complicated; your whole adoption was probably a part of some scheme to endear him to the public, but it’s not fair to say that there is no familial bond there. While he is ruthless, Vince saw a lot of potential in you from a young age, and can’t help but feel a little bit of pride when you exhibit that same ruthlessness and cruelty. Meanwhile, you understood that every win for Vince meant that it was a win for you as well. However, you feel as though it would be better for him to invest in actually training his team rather than his elaborate cheating ideas, and urge him to actually come up with legit strategies. It’s not uncommon to hear muffled arguing behind his office door before you angrily push open the door to his office and storm off while he rubs his temples and takes out his headache medication.
You wouldn’t describe yourself as “ruthless,” but let’s just say that you’re willing to do what needs to be done in order to guarantee the success of your team, even if it means going along with Vince’s actions in some cases. For the most part, however, you’re different from him in the sense that you disagree with Invincible United’s strategy of immediately resorting to cheating. You have a better sense of sportsmanship than your father and team and will apologize on their behalf (since they obviously won’t) and can’t help but be amused as your father throws his mantrum over another failed plot. Your brain is constantly making new strategies as you observe each match, and you write down ideas for game plays you think might help Invincible United win without sabotaging the other team. These ideas often go ignored by Vince as he plans his next ridiculous plot.
It’s not uncommon for you to argue with your team as well, chastising them about being the worst PR nightmares in history, and constantly having to clean up their messes with the general public. While you aren’t as scary as Vince in their eyes, they do still treat you with respect because they know that disrespecting you means disrespecting Vince himself. They enjoy teasing you, but it’s different because they do find you endearing, and mean it in a friendly (sometimes flirty) way. When it comes to preferences, they favor you over your father because you largely place the blame on your father rather than on them. You also secretly believe that they really shouldn’t cheat because they’re all very talented already, but you never tell them that for fear that it’d worsen the teasing.
Iron Tank
Your relationship with Coach Von Push Up is complicated, however, not as bad compared to Vince and his adopted child. Your adopted father has a reputation for being strict and fierce with everyone he meets, which extends to how he has raised you. However, you know that every time he’s being hard on you that it's only because he cares, but there are times when that reason is not justified. While he may have been strict, he also wanted you to be able to have a backbone so you could stand up to anyone, including him. Hence why he exhibits visible pride when you argue against him or other members of the team.
You share your father’s fierceness, maybe not in the same way as he does, but you also have a fire in your eyes to win. You are much more approachable from the outsider’s perspective, as well as polite and respectful. While you aren’t as harsh with your team, you disapprove of when Iron Tank resorts to underhanded tricks, and will hold them all accountable. You will be a little athletic, maybe not to the degree that the rest of your team is, but basic things such as a nice jog or walk around the snowy landscape of the Iron Tank fortress. However, when pushed to your limits, your anger and wrath can be more terrifying than your father’s.
Realistically, you might be on the small side by the standards of the Iron Tank team, and they will tease you. However, they will defend your honor if someone dares to speak badly about you behind your back. Generally speaking, they all genuinely like you and enjoy interacting with you as you’re much more easygoing than your father. It’s not uncommon for you to be carrying on a casual conversation with them as you sit on a tire that they’re pulling for resistance training. They also know better than to test your patience because then that can get scary for everyone, your father included.
Grimm FC
Your relationship with Coach Belmont would be good. I feel like he’d be a good dad (I see him as having big girl dad energy). While he is seen as mysterious to most, he is very soft with you behind closed doors, and absolutely adores you. He would never be condescending to you, but he will 100% tell people embarrassing stories about when you were a kid that make you want to melt in embarrassment. Might be one of the only coaches who has an endearing nickname for you like “dear”, “darling”, or “little princess/prince”, but he also only uses those in private.
While your father embraces his air of mystery, you’re very enthusiastic about it, which makes you stand out but also fit in with the rest of Grimm FC. You’re not easily scared by things and are drawn to the spooky aesthetic, which confuses other teams about how you can be so happy being a part of the freakiest team in the Super League. Polite and cordial, you are fairly approachable to everyone else, but you are also just as much of a tactician as your father. Unlike the previous readers, you don’t necessarily have a problem with cheating just because you look at it from an objective standpoint (and it’s not like anyone else can judge you), but prefer to use it as a last resort. You also have a petty and vengeful side, and can barely hide your frustration at your team losing behind a strained smile.
Everyone on this team would simply adore you, but also be very protective of you. Vlad, specifically, will drag you away when people from other teams try to talk to you because those “mortals are not worth your time”. I can honestly see you having the responsibility of doing their makeup before every game. While you might LOOK like you’re the “normal one”, you can be just as mysterious and ominous as the rest of them, which they love about you. Expect them to hiss when someone is yelling at you or some other coach assistant tries to mock you.
Technicali
Your relationship with Toni would be complicated, honestly. I honestly think he would be quite distant, and the reason why you are his assistant coach is that he needed a lab assistant. Often being put second to his inventions, you have learned to ignore your father the same way he ignores you. Which causes him to be confused as you roll your eyes and half-heartedly help him with his latest scheme, after all, you must know this stuff as well because you’ll be following in his footsteps! Toni is oblivious to your feelings, and you have learned a long time ago that communication with him just isn’t possible.
Chaotic neutral Gen Z is a characteristic that I can see for you, ignoring your dad and just scrolling through whatever social media app has your fancy. You are also incredibly introverted, feeling awkward and unsure of yourself when the assistant coaches of the other team are socializing, but it can be quite chaotic once you befriend a few of them. You also don’t care much for your father’s authority and try to find accommodations for your team where they can ACTUALLY practice rather than sit around and wait for your dad to be finished with his newest innovation. Sometimes, you can put your foot down with your dad and lash out at him, causing him to be confused but ultimately step down. You are also the social media coordinator for them, often deciding which highlights get posted, and sometimes making silly memes of your players that go viral.
The team of Technicali shares your frustration with your father. You also act as an advocate for them and will snap at your dad when they are unwilling participants in his games. Ever since you joined the team, they don’t even bother going to Toni anymore because they know he’ll brush them off. They are your hype men, often admiring your latest posts and being the first ones to like them, and backing you up when you snap at your dad. Overall, they enjoy how you see them as people and not lab rats for whatever experiment Vern decides to subject them to.
Hydra FC:
I honestly think that Del Aqua would be a good dad. He would also be like Belmont in the sense that he definitely calls you endearing nicknames, but these nicknames would obviously have an ocean motif. When he is taking care of the underwater stadium or improving facilities within it, you often take over and oversee Hydra’s training. He has a lot of trust in you and doesn’t mind letting you take over as coach for a few days if he needs to. Just expect that your room had LOTS of marine decor growing up.
I can see you inheriting his appreciation for the ocean, spending your days in the stadium observing the marine life around you. I also don’t think you’d have as much of a problem with cheating, after all, he’s the one calling the shots. You can be a little spacey at times, but you just really like to take in the beauty of marine life and have the same curiosity and interest as your adopted father. However, you can also be a bit shady like the rest of your team, but you are ultimately a chill person to hang out with. When your team loses, you’re bummed but don’t let it stop you as you go back to the drawing board.
Another team that likes to tease you as a form of affection. However, they also really enjoy being around you both on and off the field. Some of them might try to impress you (platonic or romantic) during training sessions and will give their teammates a smug smirk when you praise them. It’s a bit of friendly competition within the league. They also really like hearing your info-dump about cool facts you learned, either about the ocean or not doesn’t really matter, and use it as background noise for training sometimes. They would 100% peer-pressure you into doing stupid stuff, which leads to them apologizing to you if you get injured and a lengthy lecture from their coach.
Nakama FC
Your relationship with Ura Giri would be complicated. In the past, you used to have a huge amount of trust for your father and greatly admired him. You believed in his teachings about honor and focus, finding them to be incredibly inspiring. When the news came out about how he cheated against the Supa Strikas, you and the rest of Nakama found it hard to trust him again. While Ura Giri mourns the loss of your trust, he also believes that it is the only way to guarantee Nakama's victory and to protect your honor.
I can see you being very honest and truthful, and direct. You don’t understand other coaches and their assistants when they try to play friendly with each other, and you can often see through their fake pleasantries. You give your honest opinion about things and do not try to manipulate anyone. While you can forgive, you cannot forget, so you still respect Ura Giri but will not bring yourself to trust him as you once did. You will also directly intervene against your father’s attempts at cheating if you absolutely must have to, as you find it more shameful than losing.
Nakama shares your sentiments about Ura Giri’s unfair tactics. When Ura Giri gives them any order that is strange or out of the ordinary, they wait for your judgment to determine whether or not they will comply with it. A lot of them greatly respect you, to the point that if they DO have romantic feelings, they will try to hide them to maintain their focus. While I wouldn’t say they’re incredibly protective, they will look out for you and defend your honor if someone dares to slander your name. Overall, the Nakama boys really appreciate all of your hard work and will back you up to confront Ura Giri and his tactics.
Cosmos FC
I can see your relationship with Buddy Watkins being complicated. While he does adore and spoil you rotten, he has always tended to let his business get in the way of his personal life. It’s also hard to reach out to him over it, as he plans his next flashy showdown for whatever match is coming up, so communicating with him is hard. He can also be quite condescending to you when you do try to bring these issues to his attention. Overall, he just thinks that he’s doing the best for you and the team, and gets confused when the money and gifts he sends you aren’t enough to cheer you up.
You are very business savvy as well as soccer strategy savvy. You help your father close down deals, which has helped you build a charismatic and likeable persona. As a result, you and Ninja both share the role of being the face of “Cosmos FC”, with you being the star of your father’s hotels and business ventures and Ninja being the face of the soccer team. When it comes to cheating, you’d rather not do it yourself because you’d hate for it to be tied back to you, but are very good at flipping the script and erasing any ties to Cosmos. However, that doesn’t mean you’re not opposed to cheating at all, especially when there is a lot riding on a game. It’s all just business in your eyes.
You do like your team, you think they’re all pretty fun, but you also think that they’re all prima donnas. When they get a big head about their fame or have a little stardom meltdown, you’re usually the one who gets sent to calm them down and get them ready for the cameras. They take what you do for granted, honestly. So every once in a while, you have half a mind to just quit and go on a nice vacation far away from them. However, they always manage to redeem themselves in your eyes, somehow.
