IIIT Lucknow Admission Process, Courses, and Eligibility

Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, Hyderabad, invites applications from candidates who are Indian citizens, to pursue research in modern biology leading to a Ph.D. Degree.

Selection Process

Any National level fellowship (JRF/SRF of CSIR, UGC, DBT, ICMR, etc.), DST-INSPIRE or any other equivalent fellowship for pursuing a Ph.D.

Candidates with a BE/B.Tech degree in Biotechnology or in any engineering discipline must have a GATE score of at least 85.0 percentile.

B.Pharm degree candidates must have a GPAT score of at least 85.0 percentile.

Candidates qualifying in the test and having a valid Fellowship (by 15th June 2021) for pursuing a Ph.D. will be shortlisted to appear for an online/in-person interview at CCMB in the 2nd half of June/1st half of July.

Note

The fellowship MUST be valid till the time of joining (August 2021).

Candidates with lecturer-ship only in CSIR-UGC (NET) examination or the M.Sc/M.Tech/M. Pharm candidates with GATE/GPAT will not be shortlisted for interviews.

Candidates will have to make their OWN arrangements for travel, stay, etc. at the examination center and/or in Hyderabad for interviews. Traveling allowance is not payable by CCMB.

Candidates qualifying for both preliminary and final interviews will be selected for pursuing a Ph.D. at CCMB. Mere fulfillment of the minimum requirements stipulated in the notification would not automatically entitle a person for selection. The decision of CCMB in this regard shall be final. Canvassing in any form and/or bringing in any influence, political or otherwise, will be treated as a disqualification.

CDFD invites applications from highly motivated candidates for admission to our Research Scholars Program, beginning August / September 2021. Keeping in view the interdisciplinary nature of modern biology, we especially encourage persons from diverse backgrounds to apply. Those admitted as Research Scholars would be encouraged to register under the Ph.D. program of Manipal Academy of Higher Education or Regional Centre for Biotechnology. The selection for RSP – I – 2021 shall be based on an entrance examination followed by interview.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for Admission for the CDFD – RSP – I – 2021, the candidate must have:

1. A Master’s degree in any branch of Science, Technology, or Agriculture OR MBBS from a recognized University / Institute. Candidates who have appeared for their final semester examination, but are awaiting results, are also eligible to apply.

2. Qualified for a Junior Research Fellowship from CSIR / UGC / DBT / ICMR / INSPIRE / BINC / JEST / UGC – RGNF or any other similar examination with fellowship.

Candidates having qualified for Project – JRF under the ICMR funded project Scheme [which is only for a period of two years] OR DBT JRF NET with a B.Tech. [Biotechnology] degree OR DBT JRF NET under DBT – B category list OR LS-NET qualification only in CSIR-UGC (NET) examination are NOT eligible to apply.

3. A valid fellowship is an ABSOLUTE requirement for pursuing a Ph.D. at CDFD.

If a candidate’s fellowship result is AWAITED, the candidate can UPDATE the fellowship status preferably before the examination, but positively before the interview.

Note that having a fellowship is not mandatory for applying for and appearing in the examination, BUT, only candidates with a valid fellowship will be eligible for an interview.

Selection Procedure

Admission to the CDFD – RSP – I – 2021 will be based on an interview via video conference; the exact dates will be informed along with the list of candidates shortlisted for the interview. The candidates should be available for more than one round of interviews, if needed. The shortlist of candidates to appear for these interviews will be prepared by CDFD from:

Applicants who appear in the ENTRANCE examination that will be conducted jointly by CCMB and CDFD via online mode in last week of May, 2021 (the exact dates will be informed later at the time of issue of Hall tickets / Admit cards) and have applied to CDFD – RSP – I – 2021, (CDFD-LAN Shortlist) OR

Applicants who appeared in the Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS 2021), which was held on March 7, 2021, and have applied to CDFD – RSP – I – 2021 (CDFD-JGEEBILS Shortlist).

The shortlisting will be based on cut-off scores determined by CDFD.

As the list of candidates shortlisted for interview will be displayed only in June 2021, candidates who have appeared for the JGEEBILS-2021 examination are encouraged to appear for the CCMB/CDFD Joint Entrance Examination to be held via online mode in the last week of May 2021.

Interviews will be conducted via video conference in July / August 2021; the exact dates will be informed along with the list of candidates shortlisted for the interview.

Interested candidates (including those who have appeared for the JGEEBILS-2021) need to register their names for CDFD – RSP – I – 2021 by applying in the prescribed application form online .  The applicant should have a Master’s degree/ B.Tech/ MBBS/ M.Tech/ M.Pharm with a good academic record (at least a high second class) and should be GATE/ CSIR or UGC-NET/ JEST/ GPAT/ ICMR-JRF/ DBT-JRF/ DBT-BINC/ ICAR-NET/ DST- INSPIRE qualified in the relevant subject. The research interests of the candidates will be given due consideration while assigning a laboratory and guide. PMRF Fellowship

 IISER Mohali is one of the PMRF granting institutes offering PMRF Fellowship to meritorious Ph.D. candidates. To apply for PMRF through direct entry, the candidate needs to get selected in our regular Ph.D. program, and the Institute will recommend selected few candidates for PMRF. The final decision will be taken by the National Level Discipline-Specific Selection Committee. Junior Research Fellow Job

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for one position of Junior Research Fellow in an ICMR funded research project entitled “Exploration of the role of fodrin, a protein required in functional microtubule organization, in cancer and apoptosis” in the Laboratory of Dr. Suparna Sengupta at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram.

Position Name: Junior Research Fellow

NCCS PhD Admission August 2021 Programme

NCCS, Pune, invites applications from eligible candidates for admissions to the Ph.D. programme of the August-2021 session. The candidates should be bonafide Indian citizens, having a consistently good academic record with strong motivation to pursue research in modern biology leading to a Ph.D. degree and with eligibility mentioned below should apply for the same.

Students with a post-graduate degree and having valid fellowship from CSIR/ UGC/ DBT (Category I)/ICMR/ BINC, all are eligible to apply.

DST-Inspire qualified students with NET-LS or GATE are also eligible to apply.

Students with post-graduate degrees, who do not have a fellowship but have qualified JGEEBILS examination conducted by NCBS/TIFR held on 08th December 2019 are eligible to apply. However, candidates who are shortlisted by NCCS criteria will only be called for an interview.

A limited number of fellowships will be provided by NCCS to the selected students, who do not have fellowship (from CSIR/DBT/ICMR/UGC/DST-Inspire/BINC) but have qualified JGEEBILS and are selected by NCCS. Submission of application to the NCCS-PhD programme does not automatically guarantee that a candidate will be shortlisted for an interview.

Shortlisted candidates fulfilling NCCS criteria will have to appear for an online interview to be held at NCCS on 22nd, 23rd and 24th June 2021. Detailed eligibility conditions are given hereunder.

Eligibility For NCCS August PhD Programme:

Should have Masters (postgraduate) degree in any branch of Sciences with interest in pursuing research in Modern Biology, having at least 55% or equivalent Grade Point Average (GPA) (A relaxation of 5% of marks, shall be allowed for SC/ST/OBC and Persons With Disabilities) and with a valid fellowship from CSIR/UGC/ DBT/ICMR/ BINC, etc. OR DST-Inspire with NET-LS or GATE.

Students with post-graduate degrees, who do not have individual fellowship but have qualified JGEEBILS exam conducted by NCBS/TIFR on 08th December 2019 will be eligible to apply. Students will be shortlisted based on JGEEBILS results by NCCS criteria for interview. NCCS’s decision in this regard will be final. Please write your JGEEBILS December 2019 Reference Code on the top of the application form at the designated place.

How to Apply

1) Candidates who have qualified only for Lectureship in CSIR-UGC (NET) and the “Project List of ICMR” are not eligible.

2) NCCS’s Ph.D. programme is a residential programme. The selected candidates may have to stay on campus.

3) All the eligible complete applications received within the last date will be screened and shortlisted candidates will be called for interview as per the schedule given.

4) Other terms and conditions of the fellowship will be directed by the funding agency awarding the fellowship. The upper age limit for JRF shall be 28 years which is relaxed up to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/Women/PWD and 3 years in case of OBC candidates, or as applicable.

5) Fellowship will be activated as per the respective funding agencies’ guidelines on Direct Benefit Transfer basis. NCCS will not be responsible for providing.

6) Reservation will be as per Government of India guidelines.

7) SC/ST/OBC candidates should also attach a true copy of the Caste Certificate / Latest non-creamy layer certificate along with the application and originals that should be produced at the time of the interview.

8) Kindly mention “Application for Ph.D. — August 2021 Session” in the subject of the e-mail.

(A) Eligibility Criteria for Institute Scholar:

Candidates who possess the qualifications as mentioned below are eligible for admission into the Ph. D. Programme for full-time with Institute Research Assistantship or UGC/CSIR-NET Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or any other doctoral fellowship offered by Govt. of India (GoI), as the case is applicable. A relaxation of up to 5% marks in all academic examination levels is permitted for SC/ST/PwD candidates.

(B) Eligibility Criteria for Sponsored Scholar:

The sponsored candidates are not eligible for Institute Research Assistantship; but they must meet the same requisite standards of marks/grades in their qualifying degree and other examinations as mentioned above. They must also be in continuous service for at least three (3) years in any one of the following organizations, where appropriate R & D facilities exist:

Departments and Ministries of the Government of India or any other government organization.

Established industrial research and developmental organizations.

Recognized autonomous bodies and public undertakings.

Recognized universities/colleges.

(C) Eligibility Criteria for Project Scholar:

The scholars working in sponsored research projects at IIT Bhubaneswar can apply for the Ph.D Programme if they meet the applicable eligibility criteria for admission and have at least two years of fellowship tenure remaining, counting from the academic session or semester in which they are seeking admission. If such a candidate intends to be considered for Institute Research Assistantship after the tenure of the project is over, he/she must present a valid GATE score at that point of time or provide evidence of a valid GATE score used in the year of admission into M.Tech. or equivalent programme.

Programme wise Eligibility Criteria:

Ph.D. (Basic Science) 

1) Minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA (in a 10-point scale) in the Master’s or equivalent degree in appropriate discipline with consistently good academic record. A provisional certificate is acceptable.

2) Minimum 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA (in a 10-point scale) in the Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree in appropriate discipline with consistently good academic record. Provisional certificate is acceptable.

3) Minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA (in a 10-point scale) is required in all other examinations. A single relaxation up to 10% marks either at Xth or XIIth level examination or equivalent is permitted.

4)  The candidate must have a valid GATE score or have secured a UGC/CSIR-NET JRF.

N.B. 5% relaxation of marks in all academic examination would be granted to the SC/ST/PwD candidates compared to the General/OBC (NCL) candidates. This is applicable to all candidates.

Application Fee (Non-refundable):

For General and OBC Candidates: Rs. 500/- (Rupees Five Hundred Only)

For SC/ST/PwD Candidates: Rs. 250/- (Rupees Two Hundred Fifty Only)

N.B.

3) Login to the portal by providing the Email ID and password provided at the time of registration.

4) Provide correct information in Step 1 to Step 3.

5) Review your Data at Step 4.

6) If the information are correct then click on SAVE & SUBMIT button to submit your application.

7) If you are a Female Candidate, no Application Fee is required and hence you can take a print of the application form for future reference.

8) If you are a male candidate, Pay the required Application Fee as per the following steps.

After Successful payment, you will get a SB Collect Reference No.
