Capricorn - the enigma of the zodiac

!Importnat: This post is about Capricorn as an astrological archetype, not about every single Capricorn you know!

When I was in high school there was a girl in my class who was really into astrology, chakras and all that stuff. She was obsessed to the extent of asking our classmates about their zodiac sign. I was the only Capricorn sun in the class, so when she asked me "What's your zodiac sign?" and I answered "I'm a capricorn" she dramatically walked away from me and didn't talk to me, if not absolutely necessary. In that moment it was perfectly clear to me that she knew nothing about astrology. This situation is the perfect example of the common misconception about astrology that people have. The problem is not in the astology itself, it's in the fact that people just refuse to understand that there's so much more to you than your natal sun.

Another mistake people make, along with not reading enough, is putting labels on people and spreading stereotypes regarding astrology and most commonly - the zodiac signs (aka the natal suns).

To reach absolute honesty, I need to confirm that stereotypes are mostly true, but they're shallow.

So let's debunk some myths about the Capricorn archetype

Capricorns look so serious that they scare people

This may look true at the first glance, because most Capricorns and even more Capri risings do it a lot when in the company of strangers. Strangers. Not everyone but mostly strangers. Why? They do it subconsciously, it's like a protection mechanism. Not all, but most Capricorns that I know including myself lean more on the shy side. Another thing to take into consideration is their ability to observe every detail about the person's behavior and judge it in their mind. Capricorn is an amazing people reader. They'll look at you and know what kind of person you are within seconds. All of these characteristics may form a somewhat serious image of the person with personal planets in capricorn or dominant capricorn/earth energy, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Solemn, strongly controlled expression/appearance/aura can bless a person with great advantage over others in conversation and most importantly - that's not acting, it's just a natural reaction, coming mainly from the in-depth personality of the 🐐. Their behavior should not be perceived as offensive or hypocritical, they don't do it to offend anyone, that's simply the way they operate. If someone doesn't like it, the door is always open for them to leave, because Capricorns don't give a single s**t about almost anything (with a few exceptions) and even more what you think about them.

Capricorns are heartless

The truth is the opposite of this statement. This may come from their serious image, but I guarantee you - it's absolutely not true. Capricorns have small friend cycle, because they don't like everyone and don't desire everyone to like them. They're not everyone's cup of tea, being smarter than a lot of people. Capricorns are the good weirdos. Their weirdness is not like the Aquarius', let's say it's more on the rational, grounded side. Not a lot of people are so down to earth as them, therefore they make this barrier between themselves and other people, because of the inevitable differences. That's one of the reasons Capricorns don't really get along with most people their age. They have hearts of gold, but don't show them to everyone. You need to work for literally years to earn their trust and if that happens, they'll let you see how noble and warm their inner self really is.

Capricorns only care about work

Capris care about a few, but very important things in life - health, family and friends. But there's one thing they can't live without and if it's not present in their life, they'll not be able to function normally - stability. Stability is the qualifying word for the earth element. The earth's worst fear is not having stable ground, because that's what it represents. I think from the 3 earth sign (Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn) Capricorn is the epitome of the earth element, because of the cardinal way it presents this energy. So in that line of thinking, how can a person ensure stability for themselves and their loved ones? You guessed it, money. Coming from their endless pragmatism, these people have a special relationship with money and often people mistake it for greediness, selfishness and other completely wrong definitions. Yes, most Capricorns are workaholics, but there's a deep reason for that.

Work gives them several things:

- A chance to show the world their hard earned abilities, skills or talents.

- A source of independence, with the help of which they'll feel proud of their accomplishments.

- Sense of being significant for their loved ones.

- Last, but most important: Financial stability, which progresses in a stable emotional condition.

The positive and negative traits in their character

The worst thing about them is the fact that they have the most negative mind in the whole universe. It becomes a struggle, because it makes you nervous, pessimistic, even angry. It's the reason for their depression. From my own experience I can say that it's almost impossible to correct it, you just need to suppress it a little bit. On the positive side, it gives them a critical mind , which in my opinion makes their decisions always right. Capricorns have a really sober consciousness, which gives them the ability to be way more productive than the average person. If there's something they don't like, it will surely be a spoiled person, who is always in the clouds, instead on the ground.

Let's talk about their ruler, Saturn, and their house in the natal wheel, the 10th house (MC). Saturn is the best planet in astrology, which may sound really stupid to some of you, because he is known as the bad planet that makes a person's life complete hell. This is somewhat true, but people need to stop fear Saturn, and the true Capricorns will know why. Yes, Saturn makes your life really hard, he gives you many obstacles in different aspects, he gives you a headache and all sort of unpleasant things, but they are not bad. Imagine Saturn as an old sage, who tries to teach you the most amazing and useful things in life. When you fail, he makes you repeat the same process over and over again until you learn your lesson. He may be harsh, but is also fair and great teacher. The greatest teachers have the greatest students - with hardships he will bring up the best people in the world, namely Capricorns. The Saturnian influence on a person makes them appear more serious (in reference to the first mark in this post). The 10th house, ruled by Capricorn and Saturn, represents the carrier, vocation, reputation, ambition and publicity in astrology. It's no surprise that one of the 4 angular houses in the chart is a home of the mighty Capricorn. These 4 houses (1st, 4th, 7th, 10th) are really significant, because they home the 4 most important points in the chart (Ascendant, Imum coeli IC, Descendant and Medium coeli MC). Their rulers are only cardinal signs. That's one of the good things about this archetype as well - their cardinal quality makes them vigorous, a person always searching to do something. They make the world spin. I think the mixture between cardinal, earthy and feminine makes Capricorn the best zodiac sign, but that's strongly individual opinion.

People link angriness to the sign of Aries. From what I've seen during my communication with people I made a conclusion - Capricorns have the potential to compete with Aries for the title "The sign with strongest anger issues". The difference between them is that they show anger in two different ways - fiery and earthy. We all know how Aries gets when angry, but it's not that simple with Capricorn. Capricorns tend to bottle up their emotions, so it's like living near a volcano in constant fear because you don't know when it's going to erupt. That's what a frustrated Capricorn is. If someone makes them angry in a particular moment, they might not react immediately like how Aries does. What they'll do instead is to explode when you gradually make them angry. The funny thing is you'll not be able to realize you made them angry, because they'll not show it the first times. Then boom, you're doomed. The only indicator for their foul mood is the movement of their eyebrows. Looking at their eyes in order to try to understand how they feel will not help you, because they glare all the time, or at least look as serious as a statue. So be aware of that if you know someone with personal planets in Capricorn or dominant Saturn in the chart.

Tip when communicating with a Capricorn - be punctual, because they genuinely hate surprises or ruined plans. That's one of their countless strengths as well - they are always prepared and very tactful.

Don't underestimate them! They have amazing willpower and will show it to you when you expect it the least.

One thing about their character is that they can even beat Scorpio in terms of revenge, but will do it in a different way. When disappointed or wronged, the 🐐 will let the dark side of their soul take over. They will either arrange their revenge towards the person in the most subtle way, or they'll show their hostility by completely ignoring the said person. One thing is for sure - their brain has the capacity of the most powerful computer, so they'll never forget what you did to them. They'll hold resentment towards you till they die and will ignore you like the plague. Capricorns don't possess the ability to forgive.

The emotions of a Capri gives them the title "The enigma of the zodiac". Behind their icy glare, dark hair and clothing lies a delicate soul, who oozes love in any way. They are extremely emotional, but prefer to cry alone than letting someone see their vulnerability. They'll let you see this side of theirs when you break their facade, which will take you a lot of time. Once they know your worthy, you'll become the world to them. That's why Capricorns suffer with relationships - a lot of people don't understand that they need to give the Capricorn some time. People born under this sign are sensitive, but this cannot be noticed at a first glance, because toughness is what they want you to see.

A Capricorn will treat you the exact same way you're treating them, because they are fair. Don't be afraid to befriend a Capricorn if you are honest person. They'll like you instantly.
