One thing jumped out at me in here:
Since Squarespace is templets, they legally own whatever you make.
I think it is important to note that they do not own any of the material you upload. They do not own your photos or the things you've written. They don't own the stuff you make.
They own the system that's used to deliver that material, and they own the designs and tools that their employees have created to serve that material.
And that does make it a lot harder to migrate to another service — you can't just pick up the design and move it, you have to recreate things in the new service, and the design will almost certainly look different.
But that's the fundamental tradeoff in using a no-code website service. It's not portable, but it's easier entry. You're not having to make difficult technical design decisions, you're not having to support and update your website and the software it runs on, and you're not having to pay someone individually to make and maintain a website for you — and then pay for web hosting on top of that. That stuff adds up, and some of these template based sites are good choices for people running a small business and looking to just have a website out there.
Like, I work for a small company that has a custom-brew WordPress site that we host on our own VPS (virtual private server — one option of many for web hosting), and I know that we pay thousands each time we do a website overhaul and update (every 5ish years, so as to not look dated compared to the competition), and pay at least $20/mo for the hosting. That makes SquareSpace's $23/mo business plan sound not terribly unreasonable.
Another place I worked, one of the employees ran the WordPress site on the cheap, and it was a mess. Took forever to load because it was full of plugins — and we got breached multiple times (just the site, not our internal network) with our site getting hijacked and used to spread malware and scams before the person was able to recover it, wipe it out, and reupload everything. It was a stressful mess.
And all that stuff gets WAY more complicated if you throw an online shop into the mix. Getting all these components to link up together is not easy, and the alternative to a bundled service will often be just paying someone (more) for support — which is great if that's what you want and you can afford it. But these kinds of at-scale offerings can actually be the right choice for some people and businesses.
This isn't an endorsement. I'm not saying they're a good company or anything. I've not used them, and I'm not saying you should. I just have some experience in this area. If this is something you're looking to do, do some research, and try to make the right choice for your needs — for most folks who aren't looking for a sideline in technical work, it'll probably be some sort of service, though, and they all have these drawbacks.
Fundamental life advice: never trust a product from a youtuber/influencer sponsorship

💾 Why Building a Simple Startup Website Is Harder (and More Expensive) Than Ever.
Launching a startup used to be scrappy, lean, and affordable. You could buy a domain, get cheap hosting, and throw together a WordPress site or HTML page with some elbow grease and a bit of Googling. But in 2025, the landscape has changed dramatically. Today’s site builders promise drag-and-drop ease, but they’ve evolved into closed ecosystems designed to milk as much money as possible from beginners, while offering less flexibility and more frustration. Let’s break down exactly how this is happening—and how you can regain control.
đŸ§± Problem 1: Website Builders Are Paywalls in Disguise:
Platforms like Wix, Squarespace, Shopify, and even WordPress.com claim to help small business owners and creators “build a brand” with no coding. But once you actually try to do anything more than display text and pictures, the limitations kick in. Need custom code? Pay extra. Want to sell more than a few products? Upgrade. Try to connect an API like eBay? Good luck—even premium plans won’t help you. Social media schedulers included? Only in name—buttons are grayed out, tools are broken, or features are locked behind vague pricing tiers. At every corner, the tools you should get as a paying customer are locked down, forcing you to either pay more or give up.
🔌A Real Example: Displaying Your Own eBay Listings:
Let’s say you’re a small eBay seller who just wants to display your store listings on your personal business website. It sounds simple: eBay provides an API, and website builders claim they support “custom integrations.” But in practice? You can’t use backend code easily without upgrading to a “developer” tier. There’s no official plugin from eBay, so you’re left hacking together third-party scripts. Even after doing all that, their systems often block or break your connection because they aren’t truly open to external APIs. This should be a one-click feature. Instead, it’s an expensive rabbit hole of dead ends.
🧠 What They Don’t Want You to Know: You Can Build It Yourself:
Here’s the truth: All of these features—social scheduling, live eBay listings, custom forms, even e-commerce—can be done for free or at low cost if you bypass the big builders. Here’s how: Option 1: Build Your Site with GitHub Pages + HTML/JS 100% free hosting Use your own code or templates Connect any API, no restrictions Add Google Analytics, PayPal buttons, YouTube embeds, etc. Option 2: Use a Static Site Generator Tools like 11ty, Hugo, or Jekyll let you build beautiful, fast sites for free. Host them on Netlify or Vercel—again, free. Add APIs like eBay via serverless functions (which can also be free on most tiers). Option 3: Schedule Social Posts Yourself Instead of relying on overpriced tools, here’s a quick DIY method: Create your content ahead of time Use free schedulers like Buffer (free up to 3 channels) or IFTTT + Google Calendar triggers Or schedule posts natively inside Facebook Business Suite, Twitter/X, and LinkedIn without paying a dime
💡 Why This Matters for Startups:
The startup myth is that tools are more powerful than ever—but that’s only true if you know how to code or bypass the gatekeepers. These platforms are counting on the average user being confused, stuck, or too busy to learn alternatives. So they lock down features, upsell endlessly, and hope you’ll just give up and pay. But you don’t have to. With a bit of effort and guidance, you can build smarter, own your tools, and keep more of your money.

5 Reasons Cheap WordPress Hosting is Costing You More | Reversed Out
Tumblr media
The cost of cheap WordPress hosting goes far beyond the monthly price. You’ve seen the ads—“Web hosting for just $5/month!”—but what are you actually giving up?
It sounds like a no-brainer—until your website slows down, gets hacked, or vanishes from Google search results. Suddenly, that cheap hosting deal becomes a liability.
At Reversed Out Creative, we’ve migrated countless businesses away from cut-rate hosting providers like GoDaddy, Bluehost, and HostGator after they discovered just how costly “cheap” can be. Most had no idea what they were missing until their website broke, or worse—stopped converting altogether.
This post breaks down exactly what you’re not getting with cheap WordPress hosting, and why making the switch to our $300/month all-in-one hosting + support plan may be the smartest investment in your digital presence.
Cost of Cheap WordPress Hosting: What You’re Not Getting
1. Speed Optimization: Shared Servers Are Slowing You Down
Most cheap WordPress hosting companies run your site on a shared server, which means your site is sitting on the same machine as hundreds (sometimes thousands) of other websites. If one of those sites has a traffic spike or a poorly coded plugin, your performance suffers. This leads to slow load times, server timeouts, and a poor user experience.
Page speed matters. Google’s Core Web Vitals make site performance a ranking factor, and users expect fast load times. According to Google, 53% of mobile users abandon a site that takes longer than 3 seconds to load 【source†Google Think Insights】.
Our Solution:
We host your site on enterprise-grade WP Engine infrastructure with CDN, caching, and advanced server tuning. Your site gets its own optimized slice of server resources — never shared with unknown neighbors.
2. Plugin & WordPress Updates: “Set and Forget” Isn’t Safe
Cheap WordPress Hosting rarely maintains your WordPress install beyond offering one-click updates. If your theme or plugins are out of sync, your site can break. Worse, outdated plugins are one of the most common attack vectors for WordPress-based sites.
One of our clients came to us after discovering their contact form hadn’t worked in three months—a plugin update had failed, but no one noticed because the host didn’t test anything.
Our Solution:
We use WP Engine’s Smart Plugin Manager with visual regression testing. Updates are applied in a staging environment first. We only push them live if nothing breaks. That’s peace of mind you won’t get for $5/month.
3. Security & Backups: Your Safety Net Is Missing
Cheap WordPress Hosting often includes basic SSL and “malware scans,” but that’s it. If your site is hacked or corrupted, you’ll be lucky if your host even has a backup—and you’ll likely wait days for support.
Tumblr media
Our Solution:
We include:
Daily backups with instant restores
Web Application Firewall (WAF)
Real-time threat detection
DDoS protection and CDN-based security
Your site is actively monitored, and if something ever does go wrong, we can restore it instantly.
4. SEO & ADA Compliance: Invisible Costs of Inaction
Google doesn’t just look at keywords—it looks at technical SEO, site speed, mobile responsiveness, and accessibility. If your host is dragging down load times, breaking plugins, or leaving your site inaccessible to disabled users, your rankings will suffer.
And legally? ADA lawsuits over inaccessible websites are on the rise—more than 4,000 were filed in 2023 alone.
Our Solution:
With every migration, we perform a full:
On-page SEO audit
ADA compliance review
Site structure optimization (URLs, headings, internal links, image alt text) at a discounted rate
Speed + mobile UX fixes at a discounted rate
We don’t just host your site—we make it better.
5. Strategic Partnership: Real People, Real Support
Budget hosts offer ticket-based support queues or low-level call centers. They won’t guide your marketing, flag issues proactively, or offer strategy.
Tumblr media
Our Solution:
Every Reversed Out client gets:
2 hours/month of expert dev & strategy time (rolls over to December)
Quarterly strategy calls to align on goals
Monthly web reports with SEO insights, traffic stats, and action items
Priority email/phone support with real people who know your site
We become part of your extended digital team.
Feature Comparison Table
Tumblr media
Who This Is For
Mid-sized businesses with websites driving real revenue
Funded startups that need infrastructure but not a full in-house team
Marketing directors and CMOs who want a proactive digital partner
Agencies looking to white-label our team for their clients
Companies that have outgrown Wix, Squarespace, or GoDaddy
Real Impact: Before & After Switching to Reversed Out
“We didn’t realize how slow our old host was until we moved. Our bounce rate dropped by 18%, and leads increased by 22% the first month. The peace-of-mind alone was worth the switch.” — Insurance client in Cincinnati
These results are common when we move a client from bargain-bin hosting to our fully managed, optimized environment.
FAQ’s
Isn’t $300/month a lot for hosting? Not when you factor in the performance boost, dev time, SEO improvements, ADA compliance, and actual support. You’d spend more piecing this together yourself—and you’d still have to manage it.
Can you migrate my site for free? Yes. We handle the full migration, staging setup, and go-live with zero downtime.
What happens if I want to cancel? No contracts, no lock-in. But most clients don’t leave because they finally have a digital partner they trust.
What’s Your Website Really Worth?
If your website brings in leads, sells products, or builds credibility—why risk it on $5/month hosting that does nothing beyond keeping it online?
With Reversed Out Creative, you get:
Enterprise-grade hosting
Real SEO and ADA support
Strategic dev time
Peace of mind
Move once. Fix everything. Stay ahead.
Ready to Switch?

Elementor Pro Feature Unlocks: The Ultimate Guide to Affordable Substitutes
Tumblr media
On the vibrant front of web designing, Elementor Pro is an elite WordPress page builder, possessing a bundle of high-level features that make users capable of crafting beautiful sites with no knowledge of coding whatsoever. But Elementor Pro's costly price comes in the way for most people, particularly freelancers, entrepreneurs, and amateurs. This has created the emergence of "nulled" copies shared online, which, although enticing because they are free, carry heavy risks and penalties.
Learning the Dangers of Nulled Plugins
Nulled Elementor Pro copies are unauthorized versions of the paid plugin, sometimes hacked to avoid licensing limits. Though they may appear like an affordable answer, they carry several dangers:
Security Vulnerabilities: Nulled plugins may have malicious code, and thus your website is at risk of being hacked, experiencing data breaches, and malware infections.
No Updates: The versions receive no official updates, and thus your site becomes vulnerable to known vulnerabilities and conflicts with other plugins or WordPress core update.
No Support: Customers using nulled plugins lose access to official support channels, and thus they are left in the dark when they need help.
Legal Consequences: Sharing or applying pirated software is illegal in terms of intellectual property and may result in legal punishment.
Since these risks exist, it's essential to look into legal alternatives that offer the same functionalities without harming your website's integrity.
Looking for Cheap and Legal Options
Those who desire Elementor Pro features without the costs involved have the following options:
Elementor Free with Add-ons: Elementor's free version is powerful and can be powered up with trusted add-ons such as Essential Addons for Elementor, Happy Addons, and ElementsKit Lite. These add-ons provide extra widgets and features that fill the gap between the free and professional versions.
GPL-Licensed Providers: Platforms like GPLDL and GPLVault legally redistribute plugins under the General Public License (GPL). Though these versions are legitimate, they may lack official support and automated updates, so users would need to handle updates manually.
Official Discounts and Trials: Elementor sometimes gives discounts, bundle deals, and trial offers. Signing up for their newsletter or keeping an eye on their official channels can inform you about such offers.
Alternative Page Builders: Other page builders like Brizy, Kadence Blocks, and Spectra offer competitive features and may align better with your specific needs or budget constraints.
Tumblr media
Why Choose OffSearch for Elementor Pro GPL Versions
For those interested in exploring GPL-licensed versions of Elementor Pro, OffSearch provides a comprehensive resource. Their platform offers:
Detailed Feature Comparisons: Understand the differences between Elementor Free, Pro, and GPL versions to make an informed decision.
Version Histories and Changelogs: Be informed about the latest happenings and new features introduced into Elementor Pro.
Guides and Recommendations: Find out how best to utilize GPL versions and use them together with other utilities.
Community Insights: Connect with other users who have experiences, advice, and feedback.
The utilization of tools like OffSearch makes it easier for users to obtain the features they require without jeopardizing the security and legitimacy of their sites.
Conclusion
While the temptation of getting free, nulled copies of Elementor Pro is understandable, the risks involved are far greater than the gains. By using legitimate alternatives and resources such as OffSearch, users can obtain their website design objectives without giving up on security, support, or legal position. Spending time researching and selecting the proper tools guarantees a secure, stable, and professional web presence.
For more detailed information and resources, see OffSearch's Elementor Pro GPL page.

Expert WordPress Developers
You’re here because you’re stuck. Maybe your WordPress site looks like it’s from 2005. Maybe it takes forever to load. Or worse, maybe it’s just not making sales.
I get it.
You need expert WordPress developers who can do more than install a theme and slap on a few plugins. You need pros who actually know how to make WordPress work for your business. Not someone who disappears when stuff breaks.
Let’s break down what makes a real expert WordPress developer. Not just a coder. Not just a designer. A full-stack problem solver.
What Even Is an Expert WordPress Developer?
Simple:
Someone who:
Knows WordPress inside out
Writes clean, secure, custom code
Understands SEO, speed, UX, and mobile
Has business sense (this one’s rare)
They don’t just build pretty sites. They build sites that convert.
Here’s the thing — WordPress powers over 43% of the web. But most of those sites are... average. Because most developers are average.
The expert WordPress developers? They’re different. They:
Build with purpose
Fix what’s broken fast
Don’t ghost you after payday
When Should You Hire an Expert?
Here’s when it’s time to call in backup:
Your site’s slower than dial-up
You’re stuck on a theme you hate
You need custom features (but don’t know what’s possible)
You’ve hit a growth ceiling — traffic’s up, but conversions are flat
Your eCommerce store feels like a flea market
If any of that hit a nerve — cool. You’re not alone. I’ve worked with hundreds of business owners who started with drag-and-drop and DIY. Eventually, they all hit the wall.
What Expert WordPress Developers Actually Do (That Most Don’t)
Let me tell you what separates pros from dabblers:
1. Custom Themes + Plugins No cookie-cutter junk. Real experts build for your brand and your goals.
2. Performance Tuning Speed kills — or saves — your traffic. Experts squeeze every millisecond from load times.
3. Mobile-First Builds Over half of your traffic is on phones. Experts make sure your site doesn’t fall apart on mobile.
4. SEO Foundations Not the shady kind. We’re talking structured data, schema, lightning-fast code, and smart architecture.
5. E-Commerce Optimisation WooCommerce can either print money or break your business. Pros build shops that sell.
6. Security + Backups Sites get hacked. Servers crash. Experts plan for worst-case scenarios — and prevent them.
7. Scalable Builds Built to grow with you, not break when your audience triples.
Real Talk: How Much Does It Cost?
Here’s the truth:
Cheap developers cost more in the long run.
I’ve had clients come to me after dropping $500 on a site that never worked right. Ended up spending 3x that fixing it.
Expert WordPress developers charge more — and they should. You’re paying for results, not hours.
A legit expert might charge $75–$200/hr, or flat rates from $2,000–$10,000+ depending on scope.
Worth every cent if they’re driving traffic, leads, and revenue.
What to Look for When Hiring
Here’s your checklist. Print it. Screenshot it. Tattoo it on your hand.
Portfolio (look for depth, not just pretty)
Client testimonials (real ones, not “John D. from Chicago”)
Custom builds (not just Elementor clones)
Communication (do they explain things simply?)
Support plan (what happens after launch?)
Business understanding (can they tie dev work to ROI?)
Ask them:
How do you handle site speed?
What’s your backup strategy?
Can you walk me through your SEO setup?
How do you build for conversions?
If they can’t answer clearly — walk.
My Favourite Dev Stories (Yep, These Are Real)
1. The WooCommerce Fixer-Upper Client was losing $1k/day in cart abandons. Dev hadn’t set up Stripe properly. We fixed it in 30 minutes. That’s ROI.
2. The Speed Demon Site was taking 7 seconds to load. We dropped it to under 1.5. Rankings jumped. So did revenue.
3. The Frankenstein Site 12 plugins doing the same job. We stripped it down, rebuilt custom. Site ran smoother, broke less, and converted more.
Why US Businesses Need Local Talent
Look, nothing wrong with hiring overseas. But time zones and comms matter.
US-based expert WordPress developers understand:
American consumers
Local laws (ADA, GDPR if you’re global)
Payment gateways like Stripe, PayPal, Square
Plus, they're awake when you are. That helps.
FAQs: Real Questions from Real Business Owners
Q: Can’t I just use a drag-and-drop builder? A: Sure. Until you need speed, SEO, custom stuff, or you break something. Then you’ll wish you hired a pro.
Q: How long does a full build take? A: Depends. Simple builds take 2–4 weeks. Complex ones can run 6–12. Always ask for timelines.
Q: What platform is best — WordPress, Shopify, Wix? A: Depends on your goals. WordPress wins for flexibility and SEO. But only with expert WordPress developers in your corner.
Q: What’s the first step if I’m interested? A: Audit your current site. Identify the pain points. Then chat with a dev who actually listens.
Final Thoughts
If your WordPress site isn’t growing your business — it’s hurting it.
You don’t need more plugins. You need expert WordPress developers.
Get the help. Make the investment. Watch what happens.

Is WordPress Good for Ecommerce? [Pros and Cons]
Tumblr media
Choosing the right platform for your ecommerce website is critical for success. While platforms like Shopify and Magento dominate the market, WordPress—when combined with WooCommerce—has become a powerful and flexible alternative.
But is WordPress the right choice for your online store?
In this definitive guide, we’ll explore the pros and cons of using WordPress for ecommerce, and explain how partnering with an experienced ecommerce website development company or an ecommerce development company in India can make all the difference.
Why Use WordPress for Ecommerce?
WordPress, primarily known as a content management system, becomes an ecommerce powerhouse with the WooCommerce plugin. This combination allows businesses to:
Sell physical and digital products
Customize every aspect of their online store
Integrate blogs, marketing tools, and payment gateways
Control design and development without platform restrictions
Thanks to this flexibility, many brands turn to a WordPress website development company to build tailored ecommerce solutions that grow with their business.
✅ Pros of WordPress for Ecommerce
1. Cost-Effective and Open Source
Both WordPress and WooCommerce are open-source and free. This eliminates expensive licensing fees and allows you to invest more in design, marketing, and growth. An ecommerce website development company can help maximize your budget while still delivering a robust, feature-rich ecommerce experience.
2. Highly Customizable
WordPress offers thousands of themes and plugins to extend functionality. Whether it’s product filters, payment integration, or custom shipping rules, a skilled ecommerce web design and development company can help you achieve a completely customized solution tailored to your business goals.
3. SEO-Friendly
WordPress is known for its strong SEO capabilities, offering extensive control over meta tags, URLs, and site structure. Plugins like Yoast SEO and Rank Math make optimization simple. Many ecommerce website development services in India provide built-in SEO as part of their packages.
4. Scalable for Growth
Whether you’re starting with 10 products or 10,000, WordPress can scale with you. With the right server, caching, and database management, your store can handle high traffic and sales volumes—especially when managed by a reliable ecommerce website development company.
5. Strong Community and Support
With millions of users and developers worldwide, finding solutions, plugins, and forums is easy. Plus, WordPress development companies in India offer affordable ongoing support and maintenance.
❌ Cons of WordPress for Ecommerce
1. Requires Technical Knowledge for Customization
While WordPress is user-friendly, ecommerce features often need expert configuration. Without the help of a professional ecommerce web design and development company, managing complex requirements can be overwhelming.
2. Ongoing Maintenance Is a Must
Regular updates to the core platform, themes, and plugins are essential. Ignoring these can lead to security vulnerabilities. Partnering with an ecommerce development company in India can ensure your store stays updated, secure, and fully functional.
3. Performance Depends on Hosting and Optimization
Ecommerce stores require fast load times and smooth performance. Cheap hosting can lead to slow sites and lost sales. A trusted ecommerce website development services provider will implement speed-boosting strategies like CDN, caching, and optimized code.
4. Security Needs to Be Taken Seriously
As an open-source platform, WordPress sites can be targeted if not properly secured. Regular backups, SSL, firewalls, and security plugins are essential. Professional ecommerce website development services in India often include these as part of a comprehensive security package.
When WordPress Is a Great Fit for Ecommerce
WordPress is ideal for:
Small to medium-sized businesses
Startups needing affordable yet scalable solutions
Content-driven stores (e.g., blogs + products)
Businesses that need complete design flexibility
If you fall into any of these categories, working with a WordPress website design company or WordPress development company in India ensures you get expert support, from concept to launch and beyond.
How an Ecommerce Development Company in India Can Help
India is a global hub for web development, known for high-quality work at cost-effective rates. Choosing an ecommerce development company in India gives you access to:
Expert WordPress developers
Advanced ecommerce design and UX
Custom plugin development
SEO integration
Ongoing maintenance and support
Many top-tier ecommerce website development services in India also offer end-to-end solutions that cover everything from branding and design to marketing and security.
Conclusion
So, is WordPress good for ecommerce?
Yes—if you're looking for a flexible, SEO-friendly, and scalable solution. With the power of WooCommerce and the support of a trusted ecommerce website development company, WordPress can meet the demands of modern online businesses.
However, success depends on smart planning, expert development, and ongoing support. That’s why businesses across industries are choosing experienced ecommerce web design and development companies, especially in India, to turn their vision into reality.

Just Another Theme in the Crowd or Plexus Wizardry?
Tumblr media
To put it plainly: There’s no shortage of WordPress themes. Some look classy but crawl like it’s 1997. Then you’ve got the fast ones—ugly as a broken widget. This is where Droitthemes steps in. A fresh contender? Claiming to offer a balance. So, does it deliver? That’s where things get interesting. Starting off: Droitthemes isn’t reinventing the wheel. Don’t expect to become Fortune 500 overnight. But what they do offer? A sensible, straightforward design ethos. No laptop-smashing frustrations. Layouts? Sleek. Personalization? Quite intuitive. You won’t need a computer science degree. The real enemy? Efficiency. A beautiful site that loads like sludge is still a failure. It looks like Droitthemes nailed this. Optimized assets. Minimal bloat. Without the digital filler that bloats pages. However, bad hosting ruins everything. Cheap hosting? Even the best theme can’t help you. One big strength? Customization. You get real options—not just fifty shades of blue. Every visual aspect is tunable. And the UI doesn’t require a manual the size of a phone book. Ever activated a theme that broke half your widgets? Less likely here. Then there’s support. At some point, you’ll shout at your screen: “WHY won’t this align?!” The docs? Not groundbreaking, but not a napkin drawing either. The actual test? Do you get help when you need it? Initial reports show engagement. Shocking, right? Then there's the plugin puzzle. Third-party tools: double-edged swords. Some themes break when you add the basics. These guys? Mostly get along. Can’t promise it plays with every tool. But the core plugins? Smooth sailing. Let’s talk money. Not budget basement, not absurd luxury. Don’t spend big on something that folds. It sits at a fair spot. What’s the ideal audience? Not for parallax-junkies and animation addicts. It’s for pros who want clean results. Anyone Droit Themes who prefers writing to wrangling CSS. A little advice: It won’t fix bad content. The real star is your content. So, is Droitthemes worth it? Sure, if you want a clean, solid foundation. It’s not a relic of outdated design. But don’t expect it to do your chores. In the end? Think of it as a steady vehicle, not a flying carpet. Occasionally? That’s the right choice.

There are reasons why more than 50% of websites on the internet are powered by WordPress. The CMS platform is not only flexible and easy to use but is also easy to expand and maintain. There is no type of website that you cannot create using WordPress, especially with so many plugins, themes, and custom functions you can now add to the site. Aside from being highly usable and flexible, WordPress is also known to be very easy to secure. Without having to jump through hoops, you can secure your WordPress installation and protect your data. This is a great trait now that there are more cybersecurity attacks lurking around the corner. To help you secure your own WordPress site, here are the top five security tips to follow. Update! WordPress comes with an easy update feature that lets you update the core of the site as well as plugins and themes from within WordPress. There is no need to manually delete and upload files just to get the site to the latest version of WordPress. It is also worth noting that the team behind WordPress release frequent security patches. Keeping your WordPress site up to date is an important part of keeping the site secure. The latest security patches and updates to plugins and themes can help close security holes and prevent attacks from damaging the site. Using the latest version also enables you to get the latest features, which makes the whole process of managing the WordPress site easier. Keep in mind that WordPress, by default, applies minor updates automatically. Updates to major releases, on the other hand, need to be done manually. Go to Dashboard > Updates and you will see if updating your site is necessary. Plugin and theme updates are also displayed on this page. Secure Your Account When you build a WordPress website, you may choose to use Admin as your username. After all, Admin is a default username offered by the WordPress Installation. While the username is easy to remember – and you can still protect the account using a strong password – it is certainly not the recommended username to use. You want a username that is unique and isn’t easy to guess. Common phrases like “sysadmin” or “administrator” are usually targets of cyber attacks, so you want to avoid them completely. The same can be said for your password. Using a strong and unique password is a must with the number of attacks targeting websites at the moment. The combination of a unique username and a really strong password alone can help reduce the risks of getting your site hacked by a whopping 80%. At the very least, it will take much longer for attackers to brute-force their way into your site. Of course, you can also use Captcha or the built-in brute-force blocker from Jetpack to prevent this type of attack even further. Check Your Hosting Due to the way shared hosting – and some other types of hosting – services are set up, a successful attack on one WordPress site can easily spread throughout the server. This has happened to countless servers during the peak of attacks like WP_VCD. Once one site is infected, the malicious code can then search for other WordPress installations on the same server. Choosing a secure WordPress hosting is a must. It is better if you can set up your own cloud hosting. It is not only cheap but also gives you much higher performance in return. It’s easy to set up your own cloud server for WordPress too. You now have tools like EasyEngine and VestaCP at your disposal. If you are using a public hosting service, stick with reliable providers that have proven track records. The last thing you want is to wake up one morning and discover that your site has been defaced by an unauthorized attacker because other site owners aren’t securing their sites properly. Set Up a Backup Routine The next part of securing your WordPress site is establishing a backup routine. This too is easy to do even when you don’t have access to a hosting control panel. Countless plugins can automate the creation of backups directly from WP-Admin.
Premium plugins will even connect to your Google Drive or Dropbox account and store backups there. Maintaining daily backup is ideal if you update your site a lot or if you get thousands of visitors every day. This way, you don’t risk losing comments and other important data. In the event of a catastrophic hack, you can simply return to the latest backup image of the site and get it up and be running in a matter of minutes. For smaller sites, daily backup is a bit too much. To keep the backup routine manageable, you can choose to go with a weekly or monthly backup. You can also create a backup image manually every time you make big changes to the site; this last approach isn’t recommended, because you don’t have the periodic backup to revert to when the site doesn’t get updated. Use The Right Plugins You don’t have to be a security expert or an avid programmer to secure a WordPress site. You can almost certainly find a suitable plugin regardless of the kind of protection you want. Jetpack comes with a number of security features out of the box, although the premium features – like remote backups – are available on a subscription basis. Sucuri Security is another interesting WordPress security plugin to consider. Some of the features are only available to premium users, but the basic security tools alone are great for most users. Sucuri can also scan your site for potential malware and malicious codes. Wordfence Security, a close competitor of Sucuri, also offers malware scans. Some plugins are known for their security weaknesses. A couple of years ago, users of WordPress Newsletter suffered from attacks due to the plugin’s security hole. To stay up to date and avoid unsecured plugins, you can also sign up for newsletters from WordPress or security plugin makers like Wordfence and Sucuri. Keep an eye out for big attack news and securing your WordPress site should be much easier to do.

DIY vs. Professional Services: Unveiling the True Costs of Web Design
Tumblr media
We’ve all encountered the moment of decision: “Why hire someone when I can do this myself?” Whether it’s fixing a leaky faucet, baking a cake, or designing a website, the DIY approach can be appealing. But is it always the best choice? When you weigh time against money, the answer might surprise you. Let’s explore this by considering whether to hire a cheap web designer or embark on your own cheap web design project.
The DIY Temptation: Control and Savings
The allure of DIY is undeniable. You’re in control, making decisions without outside influence. Building your own website is tempting, especially with platforms like Wix or WordPress offering free options. A few YouTube tutorials, and you might feel ready to dive in.
For small business owners or side-hustlers, the thought of saving money by not hiring a cheap web designer is appealing. On paper, DIY seems to cost nothing but time. However, paper doesn’t capture the full picture.
The Hidden Costs: Time as a Valuable Resource
Time is a resource, and every hour spent on DIY is an hour not spent elsewhere. Whether it’s managing your business, acquiring new clients, or simply relaxing, time is valuable. Consider this: if you earn $30 an hour, and a basic DIY website takes 20 hours, that’s $600 in lost time. Suddenly, a cheap web design professional charging $300 seems like a bargain.
And that’s assuming everything goes smoothly. What if you encounter issues like a malfunctioning plugin or a confusing layout? Before you know it, you’re deep into troubleshooting, and those 20 hours quickly multiply.
Skills vs. Sanity: The DIY Challenge
DIY projects can be rewarding until you’re stuck wrestling with code. Some people thrive on these challenges, but most of us struggle. That’s where professionals come in. A cheap web designer isn’t just a pair of hands; they bring expertise and experience. They’ve dealt with countless website issues and emerged victorious.
I once attempted to build a bookshelf, thinking it would be easy. Three hours and a crooked shelf later, I realized that skill matters. Frustration can quickly outweigh the satisfaction of doing it yourself. Ever wonder why “time is money” resonates so deeply when you’re knee-deep in a project?
The Overlooked Opportunity Cost
Beyond the hours spent, there’s a larger cost: missed opportunities. Imagine you’re a baker launching an online store. Those 20 hours spent on website design could have been used to perfect a new recipe or secure a partnership with a local cafĂ©. That’s potential revenue lost.
Hiring a cheap web designer might cost you upfront, but it frees you to focus on your strengths. Your business can grow while your website operates smoothly. Isn’t that the ultimate goal?
The Quality Factor: DIY Charm vs. Professional Polish
Let’s talk about results. DIY projects can have charm, like a handmade scarf with a few imperfections. But when it comes to your business, charm might not be enough. Customers form opinions quickly. A glitchy site or outdated design can damage your credibility.
Even a cheap web designer can bring a level of polish that DIY often lacks. They understand user experience and design elements that make your brand stand out. It’s not just a website; it’s an extension of your business’s identity.
When DIY Makes Sense
DIY has its place. If you’re a hobbyist with time to spare or experimenting with a side project, go for it. Learn and enjoy the process. There’s pride in saying, “I built that.” And if your budget is truly tight, DIY is better than doing nothing.
However, if your project is crucial to your livelihood, take a moment to consider your options. A friend of mine was committed to DIY until her site crashed during a major sale. She quickly hired a professional. Sometimes, the cheap route ends up costing more.
Crunching the Numbers: A Reality Check
Let’s break it down: DIY website, 25 hours at $25/hour (your time’s value) equals $625. Add stress and a mediocre result, and you’re looking at $700 in “feels” cost. Hiring a cheap web designer: $250 flat, done in two days, with a professional look. Even at $400, you’re ahead. And that’s before considering the increased sales from a well-designed site.
Time is a currency, too, and it spends quickly.
Conclusion: Making the Right Choice
DIY isn’t “free” if it costs you time, peace of mind, or business growth. Money is tangible, but time is equally precious. Next time you’re tempted to DIY, ask yourself: What’s my time worth? What’s my peace of mind worth?
A cheap web design professional might seem like a splurge, but it’s an investment that pays off in reclaimed time and avoided headaches. You don’t have to overspend to get it right. Find a reliable designer, set a budget, and let them create something great. In the end, the true cost of DIY isn’t just dollars—it’s the life you could be living instead.

Managed WordPress Hosting vs. DIY: Why Small Businesses Need Speed and Security
Tumblr media
At Genghis Digital, we’ve seen too many Perth businesses learn the hard way: a slow or hacked website isn’t just annoying – it’s a direct hit to your reputation and revenue. Whether you’re a Fremantle cafĂ©, a Joondalup tradie, or a Margaret River tour operator, your website’s hosting choice can make or break your online success. Let’s break down why managed WordPress hosting is the smart choice for WA small businesses – and why DIY hosting often ends in tears.
The Hidden Costs of DIY Hosting for Perth SMEs
DIY hosting might seem like a bargain at $5/month, but it’s a false economy. Here’s why:
Downtime Disasters: Imagine your Perth plumbing business’s site crashing during a heatwave when everyone’s searching for “emergency aircon repairs.” Cheap hosting often means sluggish servers and no uptime guarantees.
Security Risks: WA businesses are prime targets for cyberattacks. DIY hosting lacks malware scans, firewalls, and automatic backups – leaving your site (and customer data) exposed.
Tech Headaches: Who has time to troubleshoot server errors or update PHP versions? Not busy Perth business owners!
Real WA Example: A Scarborough bakery lost a week’s worth of online orders after their DIY-hosted site was hacked. Switching to our managed WordPress hosting restored security – and sales.
3 Reasons Managed WordPress Hosting Wins for Perth Businesses
1. Blazing Speed for WA’s Impatient Visitors
Local Servers: Our hosting uses Australian-based servers, slashing load times for Perth customers.
Built-in CDN: Accelerate content delivery, even to regional WA areas with patchy internet.
Auto-Optimisation: Image compression, caching, and PHP 8+ keep your site racing like a V8 on the Mitchell Freeway.
2. Fort Knox Security
Daily Backups: Restore your site in minutes if disaster strikes (or a rogue intern deletes your homepage).
Free SSL Certificates: Encrypt data and boost SEO – Google loves the padlock symbol!
Malware Scans: We monitor 24/7 for threats, so you can focus on your business, not hackers.
3. Expert Support (No More “On Hold” Music)
24/7 Aussie Assistance: Get help from real humans – not chatbots – whether it’s 3 pm or 3 am.
Automatic Updates: We handle WordPress core, plugin, and theme updates to prevent conflicts.
Staging Sites: Test changes safely before going live. No more “oops” moments!
DIY vs. Managed Hosting: A Perth Business Showdown

The Verdict: For less than the price of a Perth pub lunch per day, managed hosting removes tech stress and keeps your site secure.
Why Genghis Digital is Perth’s Hosting Hero
As your local web design and SEO experts, we bundle managed hosting with: ✅ Free Migration: We’ll move your existing site hassle-free. ✅ SEO-Ready Infrastructure: Fast hosting boosts Google rankings – critical for terms like “web design Perth.” ✅ Google Ads Integration: Pair hosting with high-impact Google Ads campaigns for maximum visibility.
Case Study: A Perth HVAC company reduced site load time from 8s to 1.2s with our hosting. Organic traffic jumped 65%, and leads increased by 40% in 3 months.
Ready to Ditch DIY Hosting Headaches?
Don’t let your website become the weak link in your Perth business. Upgrade to managed WordPress hosting with Genghis Digital and sleep easy knowing your site is fast, secure, and always online.
