I Know Your Dad and He Wouldn't Mind (II)
Governing Concept: can’t an up-and-coming actor send nudes to his onscreen dad, torrid, get dumped, and not learn his lesson post-pandemic? gosh. normie pocket dimension of ask for a key, or the comedy-of-marriage-minded sequel to sex, or a bag of rocks (i, ii, iii, iv, v, vi, vii)
prev: do you have anything that smells like old dick
chapter summary: so are you courting me or
cw: honestly pretty sfw cept for the self-loathing, thank you @vermiculated for the paper-doll outfit assist
“Mate, why’d you pack like a murder victim.”
Ben prods at the assemblage of items on the waxy-white tabletop between them.
The Thursday brunch interiors conspire. Brassy sunbursts, leggy cutlery. Orchids in the salads. Given the lighting, the trip-hop, the windows and capacity, this restaurant desperately wants to be somewhere else.
Owen’s read enough Eater longform to know, this rehabbed vault was meant to be run on hobbyist electricity, asthma on a chain, thighs fried on grubby white lattice in somebody’s backyard, busted tin cups, gravel in a slip-on, ankle strap of citronella. Chalky sand, beachy churn of no-see-ums, seeding something at the end of the world, on-set, a meet-shop propped with a broad arm sling. A sunflower on a helical swivel.
Do I look like you, all over?
Ben had arrived late, swept through Owen’s quiet “Hi, Dad” and immediately demanded that Owen disgorge the contents of his pockets.
In sous-vide sunlight, dubious: Laneige lipcream (matcha-moss) and SPF 30 sheer sunstick (guava), tied with a rubber band. Collapsible silicone water bottle, 20-oz. A single-serve packet of electrolyte powder (white peach, his most recent ex had been big on hydration multipliers). Debit card, ID, transit card, all clipped to the inside of his Field Notes memo book with a Mitsubishi mini-gel pen, 0.38-mm. The pen barrel is the color of pistachio yogurt.
Owen shrugs; the arterial corduroy rustles. Shacket and denim. The Uzumaki spirals, white tee, cling. A messenger bag would have ruined the line. He didn’t want to look like a stupid kid going camping.
“No phone, I meant,” Ben says, working a swallow around his chrome-rim tumbler. His shirt’s a mock-neck, color-correcting his throat. Windowpane check, little white and electric blue lines on seal-smoke gray. Hair looks nice, wavy; no ring today. “Very daring of you.”
Logan’s vaguely aware of his location, and there’s a Post-It, with Sharpie notation, taped next to the entryway toggle switch of the sublease; Owen grew up on crime procedurals. “I never bring my phone on dates.” He’d been aiming for the factual brio of his ex (either one), but the words come out prim. Plaintive.
After the mutual startle, their hands skirting the evidence on the table, Ben vibrates into a smile. Openly fingers Owen’s notebook, minding the pre-written questions. “Oh, is that what we’re playing?”
Owen sucks cheek. The corduroy feels too hot. “What else would it be.”
Their server, a boy, mercifully interrupts with menus. The interstitial lets Owen stuff rubber-banded toiletries, water bottle and hydration packet back into his pockets, sling his overly warm jacket on the lazy art-deco chair. The notebook lingers on the table, over the QR code. The cover, limited edition, is a linocut reproduction of a meander, Mississippi River, cerulean and dinosaur-green. A casual gift from his mom.
Over the paper menus, Ben’s jabber about pandan waffles and candied bacon in a cup. The pun-heavy typeset wilts under Owen’s fingers as Ben lets himself be coaxed into the special (“congee pot pie”) and submits with a flourish.
Owen’s familiar with the rollicking delta between Ben in-person, tinned, soured with tamarind and the effulgent, briny soak to the cheap seats when he’s happy, sober and grateful.
He’s in a press mood. Grafting scrap of forehead, swinging his highball of iced robusta with a jab of mint and cloud of coconut cream. Theatrically peering under the table to look at Owen’s jeans and sneakers: “Nice outfit. Very much The Red Boy.”
“I was going for Akira,” Owen says, crossing his arms.
Gravely, hooking his torso around the table — mind the glassware! —stroking the chapped tip of Owen’s elbow: “I don’t think Kaneda took the bus, mate.”
For whatever reason, the jasmine tea is served in a tiki ceramic. The jumbo bubble ridges slip; he uses both hands. “So this isn’t, um, some two-week pleasure bent?” The steam moistens his JudyDoll Cushion Foundation #B15, for fair and true neutral olive tones.
“I wouldn’t invite you on a bender,” Ben reassures. “You wouldn’t be fun enough.” He jostles his knees; his jeans are Vantablack. “Come live with me for two weeks, help me on a project. I’ll give you a key, pay you for your time, pry all you like.”
Through the window, a woman muscles by in a swelter, hair swoop-clipped away from her phone conversation, kelly green striped shirt, insouciant ripple. The two of them let themselves be distracted.
—
“You want my help to play gay?” Owen complains. Mouth as ridiculous, brutish, as ever.
“To play domestic, mid-career marriage,” Ben corrects as he showily drains his coffee-chalice. Stabs at the spearmint garnish with his straw. “My agent said something to the effect of, ‘that should be you getting your back blown out by some twink.’”
Some parties near them throttle their chewing to not-stare. Owen’s scowl-to-wince pipeline at Ben’s grey New Balance 574’s, with fat white tongue, too-dark jeans, penitent box-print shirt. Aces for comportment. Dear Aeryn, so indulgent of his inconstant volume, had picked out his outfit — not specifically for this occasion; vanishingly few people know about this, certainly not staff, he digs at himself with a poncey accent.
It’s not a felony anymore, just highly improper. Still time to botch it. Yes, permissible in the grand sweep, and Owen will pack up his fruity gear and his illuminated manuscript and wet-gecko gaze and Owen will go away, find soft purchase in dippy indie jobs, woman-led, while Ben rots in his demesne.
Mint’s in his mouth now, pulping. He dry-swallows, hurrying on: “Anyways, it’s personal-professional. Consider it field research. I won’t even be there most of the time; you’ll have run of the manor, work on whatever project you want to work on.” Rambling about a loose assemblage of duties, cheerfully lying, “I’ll pay you not to fuck me.”
Shoal of herrings, silvery, traverse Owen’s face. Revulsion’s in there, but what isn’t. If Owen mislikes vulgarity, that’s a seafood economist allergic to shrimp. Where’s their fucking food.
“That’s how most payment works,” Owen says, a touch late. Fingers to brow, sweeping his dye job off the cliff of his cheek, the long reach for his notebook, languid-liquid, buggers belief. Lateral line, an absolute killer in the water. “What would the money part look like?”
Ben exhales. The past hovers, blurry, in his throat. Money’s easy; one number’s good as another. Owen adorably negotiates for alimony rates, citing The New York Post (“$8,500, that’s two weeks, half of a monthly $17,000. Oh, plus inflation”). He has the figures written in his notebook.
“Is there anyone else you’re auditioning for this?” Almost shy. The mental calisthenics are not unattractive.
“Fish get auditioned for sound.” The Navy paid scientists to torture all manner of aquatics, to differentiate their squeaks and clickies and terror-moans from German U-Boats. “Rough handling.” Don't scratch.
“Did you keep anything of mine?” Ribbon of ectoplasm, accusation.
“Eh, I move around so much,” chewing nothing, brightly dithering, emerging from the dustbin with a triumphant pump of spit, “The board game, very prescient. That’s how I thought of it. Opened it several years too late.”
Actually guilty-sounding, groping his tea mug: “I gave it away. The thing you got me.”
“Dior, was it?”
“Fenty. You weren’t spending, um, Dior money on me. It’s been so long the range of shades got more inclusive.”
Their food arrives. Over some ungodly sesame dumpling concoction in walnut soup, Owen refers haltingly to his ex as “kind of a St. John Rivers type.” Ben triangulates the reference. The implicit comparison stings.
Sure, Denise was right in that interview, taut diagnosis in a stretch dress; he puts on the RP when he’s wheedling. Ben’s mislike of ceremony, bred in industry — has achieved multiple generations of furry solidity on toe pads, treats, tricks, habits.
Gooey cut, hand coiled on soupspoon, porcelain full. Has Owen just been watching him eat?
Water’s refilled. Once the server slopes off, Owen chugs his glass, ice crashing, and rubs sun-stick down the arc of his arms. His philtrum glistens, pretty. “Why are you doing this?”
Delta, mouth, chute. “You have talent, and we have an intimacy.” He lets that splash, silt glitter, and gently now, like a baptism, “Would help my recovery. Is what my shrink said.”
Even with Ben’s wild notions of absolution, squirmed out five decades now, the gush of forgiveness on Owen’s face is annihilating. The coronal panic, that this gaping novice is going to consent, out of kindness rather than cold-to-craven inquiry, bat away Ben’s cash, crush his old-whore solitude, exhume every workplace flirtation, every boy he’s interred, the whole gory manuscript underwritten by his damaged fantasies of infinity. Tie me off belly-out to a tree, arrow through the lattice of lies, Ben might actually die here, to offbrand Tricky—
“Anyways, that a yes?” He’s dissociated again. Bowl flayed clean, napkin confetti on his lap. Tongue slimed. “Not that you have to scrape out a monkish sort of existence.” Bolstering, overshooting, “Ever had French boys before? No? We’ll have to line them up for you. Cock’s cheap.”
Unsaid: you’d know.
“Fine,” his dream confessor sighs, shoving his napkin at Ben. “Show me the house.”

Top Web Hosting Solutions on https://eweball.com/
Choosing the right web hosting solution can be a daunting task, given the myriad of options available. This is where https://eweball.com/ comes into play, offering an extensive comparison of top web hosting providers, tailored to meet various needs and budgets. In this blog post, we will explore different types of web hosting solutions available on https://eweball.com/ and help you find the right one for your needs.
Understanding What Web Hosting Is and Why It’s Essential
Web hosting serves as the foundational service that allows websites to be accessible on the internet. Essentially, web hosting providers offer the technology and resources necessary to store your website's files on a server, ensuring these files are available to visitors at any time. Without a reliable web hosting service, your website would not have the infrastructure required to stay online. One of the critical aspects of web hosting is its impact on your website's performance. Factors such as server speed, reliability, and security directly influence the user experience. A fast-loading website with minimal downtime not only improves user satisfaction but also positively affects your search engine rankings. Security features, including SSL certificates, regular backups, and firewalls, help protect your site from cyber threats, making web hosting a crucial component in safeguarding sensitive data. Different types of web hosting solutions cater to varying needs. For example, shared hosting is suitable for beginners or small businesses with low traffic, while VPS and dedicated hosting are better for growing sites requiring more resources and control. Cloud hosting offers the scalability needed for websites experiencing fluctuating traffic levels, and managed hosting provides professional server management for those who prefer a hands-off approach. Choosing the right web hosting solution is pivotal for your online success, influencing everything from website speed to security. Understanding these elements can help you make an informed decision, ensuring your website performs optimally and remains secure.
Shared Hosting – An Affordable Option for Beginners
For those just starting their online journey, shared hosting is often the most economical and accessible option. This type of hosting involves multiple websites sharing the same server resources, which helps to keep costs down. It's ideal for personal blogs, small business websites, and portfolios that do not anticipate high traffic volumes. One of the main advantages of shared hosting is its user-friendliness. Many providers offer intuitive control panels and one-click installations for popular platforms like WordPress, making it easier for beginners to set up and manage their websites without needing extensive technical knowledge. Furthermore, shared hosting plans often come with essential features such as email accounts, sufficient storage space, and customer support, providing a solid foundation for those new to website ownership. Despite sharing server resources, many shared hosting providers implement measures to ensure fair allocation and minimise the risk of one site affecting the performance of others. The plans available on https://eweball.com/ often highlight these features, helping you choose a provider that balances affordability with reliable performance. Shared hosting is a great starting point for anyone looking to establish an online presence without a significant financial commitment. As your website grows, you can easily upgrade to more advanced hosting options to meet your evolving needs.
Virtual Private Server (VPS) Hosting – A Step Up
As your website expands, shared hosting might fall short in meeting its growing demands. This is where Virtual Private Server (VPS) hosting steps in, offering a perfect middle ground between shared and dedicated hosting. VPS hosting allows your website to benefit from dedicated resources within a shared server environment, ensuring improved performance and greater stability. With VPS hosting, you gain more control over your hosting environment. This includes the ability to install custom software and make advanced configurations tailored to your specific needs. This flexibility is invaluable for businesses experiencing increased traffic or requiring more robust applications. VPS hosting is also characterised by enhanced security compared to shared hosting. Since your site operates within its own virtual space, it is better insulated from the potential vulnerabilities of neighbouring websites. This makes VPS an attractive option for e-commerce sites or any platform handling sensitive information. The scalability of VPS hosting is another significant advantage. You can easily upgrade resources such as RAM, CPU, and storage as your website continues to grow. This adaptability ensures that your site can handle increasing traffic without compromising on performance. Providers listed on https://eweball.com/ often offer a variety of VPS plans, making it easier for you to find a solution that fits your budget and technical requirements.
Dedicated Hosting – Ultimate Performance and Control
For websites with high traffic or those handling sensitive data, dedicated hosting offers unparalleled performance and control. Unlike shared or VPS hosting, dedicated hosting provides an entire server solely for your website, ensuring optimal speed and reliability. This exclusive access to server resources means you can customise the hardware and software to meet your specific requirements, allowing for extensive modifications and fine-tuning. Dedicated hosting is particularly beneficial for large enterprises, e-commerce sites, and platforms requiring robust security measures. The isolation from other websites eliminates the risk of neighbouring sites affecting your performance or security, providing a stable and secure environment for your data. One of the standout features of dedicated hosting is its ability to handle significant traffic spikes without compromising on performance. This makes it ideal for websites experiencing high volumes of visitors or running complex applications that demand substantial resources. Providers listed on https://eweball.com/ offer various dedicated hosting plans, often including premium support services, regular maintenance, and advanced security features. These additional services ensure that your server runs smoothly, allowing you to focus on your core business activities. While dedicated hosting comes at a higher cost compared to other hosting types, the investment is justified by the superior performance, security, and customisation options it provides. By exploring the dedicated hosting options on https://eweball.com/, you can find a solution that aligns with your technical needs and budget.
Cloud Hosting – Flexibility and Scalability
Cloud hosting leverages a network of interconnected servers to provide flexibility and scalability, accommodating fluctuating traffic levels with ease. Unlike traditional hosting that relies on a single server, cloud hosting distributes your website’s resources across multiple servers, ensuring high availability and resilience. This setup allows your site to seamlessly scale resources up or down based on real-time demands, making it an excellent choice for businesses with variable traffic patterns. Cloud hosting is designed for optimal performance, with features like load balancing and automated failover to maintain uptime and speed. This means your site remains accessible and performs consistently well, even during traffic spikes or server outages. E-commerce sites, media platforms, and growing businesses particularly benefit from cloud hosting's adaptability and robustness. Security is another strong suit of cloud hosting. The distributed nature of cloud servers helps mitigate the risk of DDoS attacks and other security threats, as the traffic load is spread across multiple servers. Additionally, most cloud hosting providers offer advanced security protocols, regular updates, and continuous monitoring to safeguard your data. The hosting plans showcased on https://eweball.com/ often come with comprehensive features, such as easy resource scaling, robust security measures, and efficient load balancing, making it straightforward to find a cloud hosting solution that aligns with your requirements.
Managed Hosting – Let Experts Handle It for You
Managed hosting is a fantastic option for those who prefer to delegate server management tasks to experienced professionals. With managed hosting, the provider takes on the responsibility of maintaining the server, performing regular updates, backups, and security monitoring, thus allowing you to focus solely on your business operations. This service is particularly advantageous for businesses that may not have a dedicated in-house IT team. In managed hosting, providers often offer enhanced support services, including 24/7 monitoring, automated performance optimisation, and advanced security measures. These features ensure that your website runs smoothly and securely, minimising downtime and protecting against potential threats. Another benefit is the proactive approach to problem-solving. Managed hosting providers typically identify and resolve issues before they impact your website's performance, offering a layer of reliability and peace of mind that is hard to achieve with self-managed hosting. Additionally, managed hosting plans frequently include a suite of useful tools and services, such as staging environments, caching solutions, and CDN integration, which further enhance your site's performance and functionality. This comprehensive support enables you to deliver a seamless user experience, even during peak traffic periods. Managed hosting is also scalable, allowing your website to grow without the hassle of manual upgrades or configurations. The plans available on https://eweball.com/ highlight these benefits, making it easier for you to choose a managed hosting provider that aligns with your needs.
WordPress Hosting – Optimised for WordPress Websites
WordPress hosting is crafted to enhance the performance and security of WordPress sites. These specialised plans often come with pre-installed plugins and themes, optimised server configurations, and automatic updates, ensuring your site operates at peak efficiency. Enhanced security measures, such as malware scanning and daily backups, offer added protection against potential threats, while dedicated customer support can assist with WordPress-specific issues. Performance-boosting features like caching and CDN integration are typically included, facilitating faster load times and smoother user experiences. As highlighted on https://eweball.com/, leading providers offer WordPress hosting plans that cater to various needs, from personal blogs to high-traffic commercial websites.
Factors to Consider When Choosing a Web Hosting Service
When selecting a web hosting service, it’s important to evaluate several key factors to ensure it meets your specific needs. Start by identifying the type of website you plan to create and your expected traffic levels, as different hosting types (shared, VPS, dedicated, cloud, managed, and WordPress) cater to varying demands. Assess the reliability and uptime guarantees offered by potential hosts, as consistent performance is crucial for maintaining user engagement and avoiding revenue loss. Budget is another significant consideration. While cheaper options may appeal initially, they might lack essential features or scalability. Carefully examine what each hosting plan includes, such as storage, bandwidth, and support, to ensure it aligns with your requirements. Pay attention to any hidden fees and renewal rates, which can differ substantially from initial promotional prices. Customer support quality is also vital; opt for providers offering 24/7 support through various channels like live chat, phone, and email. This ensures prompt assistance whenever issues arise. Additionally, consider the scalability of the hosting plans. As your website grows, you'll want a host that allows easy upgrades to more robust packages without causing downtime or complications. Lastly, review security features like SSL certificates, regular backups, and malware protection. A secure hosting environment safeguards your data and enhances user trust. By considering these factors, you can choose a web hosting service that supports both your current and future needs.
Best Practices for Migrating Your Website to a New Host
Migrating your website to a new host requires careful planning to ensure a seamless transition. Begin by thoroughly backing up all your website data, including databases, files, and emails. This ensures you have a complete copy of your site in case anything goes wrong during the migration process. Next, gather all necessary credentials and access details for both your current and new hosting accounts to streamline the transfer. Utilise a temporary URL or staging environment on the new host to test your site before making it live. This allows you to identify and rectify any issues without disrupting your current site’s functionality. Ensure that all links, forms, and functionalities are working correctly in this test environment. Update your DNS settings to point to the new host once you’re confident everything is functioning as expected. Keep in mind that DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate fully. During this period, some users may still be directed to your old site, so maintain your existing hosting account until the transition is complete. Communicate the migration to your audience, especially if any downtime is anticipated. Clear communication can mitigate frustration and keep your users informed. Lastly, resources available on https://eweball.com/ offer detailed guidance on the entire migration process, helping you navigate any complexities that may arise.
Understanding Web Hosting Costs and Pricing Structures
When evaluating web hosting costs, it’s important to understand the various pricing structures offered by different providers. Monthly and yearly billing options often differ significantly in price, with many providers offering discounts for longer-term commitments. Additionally, be aware of promotional pricing that may increase after the initial term, impacting your long-term budget. Transparent pricing comparisons on https://eweball.com/ can help you identify any hidden fees, such as setup charges or costs for additional features like SSL certificates and backups. Analysing these details will ensure that you choose a web hosting plan that fits your financial needs without compromising on essential services and scalability options.
Enhancing Website Performance with the Right Hosting
Selecting the appropriate web hosting service can significantly elevate your website's performance. Crucial elements such as server location, bandwidth, and resource allocation directly influence your site's speed and responsiveness. Hosting solutions that incorporate content delivery networks (CDNs) are particularly advantageous, as they cache content across various servers, facilitating rapid load times for users regardless of their geographical location. Another key factor is the server technology employed by the hosting provider. Solutions featuring SSD storage, high-speed CPUs, and ample RAM can markedly improve performance. Some hosts offer performance-boosting features like caching mechanisms and optimised software stacks, which further enhance loading speeds and user experience. Load balancing is also an essential component of high-performance hosting. By distributing incoming traffic evenly across multiple servers, load balancing ensures that no single server becomes overwhelmed, maintaining consistent performance even during peak traffic periods. For those operating e-commerce sites or media-heavy platforms, opting for a hosting solution with robust scalability options is crucial. As your website grows, being able to seamlessly upgrade resources without downtime is vital for sustained performance. In addition, choosing a hosting provider with a strong uptime guarantee minimises the risk of your site going offline, ensuring a reliable user experience. With the detailed comparisons available on https://eweball.com/, you can identify hosting solutions that offer these performance-enhancing features, allowing your website to operate at its best.
Security Features to Look for in a Web Hosting Provider
Website security is paramount for maintaining user trust and protecting sensitive information. When evaluating hosting providers, prioritise those that offer robust security features. SSL certificates are essential, encrypting data transmitted between your website and its visitors to prevent unauthorised access. Regular backups are also crucial, allowing you to restore your site quickly in the event of data loss or corruption. Firewalls act as a barrier between your website and potential threats, filtering out malicious traffic before it can cause harm. Additionally, malware scanning and removal services are vital for identifying and eliminating harmful software that could compromise your site. Advanced security measures such as DDoS protection help safeguard your website against distributed denial-of-service attacks, which can overwhelm your server and cause downtime. Some providers offer additional security layers, like intrusion detection systems and security audits, to further bolster your site's defences. Providers with a dedicated security team monitoring for threats and vulnerabilities can offer an added layer of protection, proactively addressing issues before they become serious problems. Features like two-factor authentication (2FA) for account logins can enhance security by requiring an additional verification step, making it harder for unauthorised users to gain access. It's also beneficial to choose a provider that offers security patches and updates automatically, ensuring that your website stays protected against newly discovered vulnerabilities without requiring manual intervention. By focusing on these security features, you can ensure your website remains secure and trustworthy.
Customer Support – The Backbone of Reliable Hosting
Effective customer support is crucial for any web hosting service, providing the assurance that help is available whenever you encounter issues. Seek out hosting providers that offer 24/7 support through multiple channels, such as live chat, phone, and email, ensuring you have access to assistance at all times. A responsive and knowledgeable support team can swiftly resolve technical problems, minimising downtime and maintaining your website's performance. Look for providers that boast a robust support infrastructure, including comprehensive knowledge bases, detailed FAQs, and community forums. These resources enable you to troubleshoot common issues independently, which can be particularly useful outside of regular business hours. Additionally, some hosting providers offer dedicated account managers for a more personalised support experience, guiding you through complex technical challenges and optimising your hosting environment. Providers that invest in customer support training and continuously update their teams on the latest technologies tend to offer superior service. Pay attention to customer reviews and testimonials available on https://eweball.com/ to gauge the effectiveness and reliability of a provider's support. Opting for a host with a proven track record in customer service can significantly enhance your hosting experience, ensuring that expert help is just a call or click away when you need it most.

My Kiddo (11yo) is trying to revive a 14yo netbook computer that suffered horribly after a failed attempt to install Windows 10 a few years ago.
We cannibalized parts from it previously, so It has no hard drive atm. Kiddo decided to try loading the portable version of Chrome OS to an SD card and successfully booted off of that 🤣🤣🤣
The battery is non-functional, so kiddo is using a jury-rigged and much gaffer-taped cord from another laptop to power it, but it has to be manually held in place to connect, lol.
I did promise that if it booted successfully, I'd get a cheap hard drive, and then if that works well enough to make it an actual useful computer, I can start replacing other components as I can cobble together the funds.
Our home desktop is a hot mess, so having something else available will make it possible for me to do some long-overdue maintenance on the desktop without leaving us computer-less.
My work computer is so ridiculously locked down these days, I can't use it for anything personal at all.
Eventually I want to convert the desktop to a home server and set up a network of a couple mini pcs for media and home computing use so I can cut off our reliance on streaming services and paid cloud storage. But that's very much not in reach at the moment. Plumbing is taking precedence over technology for sure....

In today’s tech landscape, the average VPS just doesn’t cut it for everyone. Whether you're a machine learning enthusiast, video editor, indie game developer, or just someone with a demanding workload, you've probably hit a wall with standard CPU-based servers. That’s where GPU-enabled VPS instances come in. A GPU VPS is a virtual server that includes access to a dedicated Graphics Processing Unit, like an NVIDIA RTX 3070, 4090, or even enterprise-grade cards like the A100 or H100. These are the same GPUs powering AI research labs, high-end gaming rigs, and advanced rendering farms. But thanks to the rise of affordable infrastructure providers, you don’t need to spend thousands to tap into that power. At LowEndBox, we’ve always been about helping users find the best hosting deals on a budget. Recently, we’ve extended that mission into the world of GPU servers. With our new Cheap GPU VPS Directory, you can now easily discover reliable, low-cost GPU hosting solutions for all kinds of high-performance tasks. So what exactly can you do with a GPU VPS? And why should you rent one instead of buying hardware? Let’s break it down. 1. AI & Machine Learning If you’re doing anything with artificial intelligence, machine learning, or deep learning, a GPU VPS is no longer optional, it’s essential. Modern AI models require enormous amounts of computation, particularly during training or fine-tuning. CPUs simply can’t keep up with the matrix-heavy math required for neural networks. That’s where GPUs shine. For example, if you’re experimenting with open-source Large Language Models (LLMs) like Mistral, LLaMA, Mixtral, or Falcon, you’ll need a GPU with sufficient VRAM just to load the model—let alone fine-tune it or run inference at scale. Even moderately sized models such as LLaMA 2–7B or Mistral 7B require GPUs with 16GB of VRAM or more, which many affordable LowEndBox-listed hosts now offer. Beyond language models, researchers and developers use GPU VPS instances for: Fine-tuning vision models (like YOLOv8 or CLIP) Running frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, or Hugging Face Transformers Inference serving using APIs like vLLM or Text Generation WebUI Experimenting with LoRA (Low-Rank Adaptation) to fine-tune LLMs on smaller datasets The beauty of renting a GPU VPS through LowEndBox is that you get access to the raw horsepower of an NVIDIA GPU, like an RTX 3090, 4090, or A6000, without spending thousands upfront. Many of the providers in our Cheap GPU VPS Directory support modern drivers and Docker, making it easy to deploy open-source AI stacks quickly. Whether you’re running Stable Diffusion, building a custom chatbot with LLaMA 2, or just learning the ropes of AI development, a GPU-enabled VPS can help you train and deploy models faster, more efficiently, and more affordably. 2. Video Rendering & Content Creation GPU-enabled VPS instances aren’t just for coders and researchers, they’re a huge asset for video editors, 3D animators, and digital artists as well. Whether you're rendering animations in Blender, editing 4K video in DaVinci Resolve, or generating visual effects with Adobe After Effects, a capable GPU can drastically reduce render times and improve responsiveness. Using a remote GPU server also allows you to offload intensive rendering tasks, keeping your local machine free for creative work. Many users even set up a pipeline using tools like FFmpeg, HandBrake, or Nuke, orchestrating remote batch renders or encoding jobs from anywhere in the world. With LowEndBox’s curated Cheap GPU List, you can find hourly or monthly rentals that match your creative needs—without having to build out your own costly workstation. 3. Cloud Gaming & Game Server Hosting Cloud gaming is another space where GPU VPS hosting makes a serious impact. Want to stream a full Windows desktop with hardware-accelerated graphics? Need to host a private Minecraft, Valheim, or CS:GO server with mods and enhanced visuals? A GPU server gives you the headroom to do it smoothly. Some users even use GPU VPSs for game development, testing their builds in environments that simulate the hardware their end users will have. It’s also a smart way to experiment with virtualized game streaming platforms like Parsec or Moonlight, especially if you're developing a cloud gaming experience of your own. With options from providers like InterServer and Crunchbits on LowEndBox, setting up a GPU-powered game or dev server has never been easier or more affordable. 4. Cryptocurrency Mining While the crypto boom has cooled off, GPU mining is still very much alive for certain coins, especially those that resist ASIC centralization. Coins like Ethereum Classic, Ravencoin, or newer GPU-friendly tokens still attract miners looking to earn with minimal overhead. Renting a GPU VPS gives you a low-risk way to test your mining setup, compare hash rates, or try out different software like T-Rex, NBMiner, or TeamRedMiner, all without buying hardware upfront. It's a particularly useful approach for part-time miners, researchers, or developers working on blockchain infrastructure. And with LowEndBox’s flexible, budget-focused listings, you can find hourly or monthly GPU rentals that suit your experimentation budget perfectly. Why Rent a GPU VPS Through LowEndBox? ✅ Lower CostEnterprise GPU hosting can get pricey fast. We surface deals starting under $50/month—some even less. For example: Crunchbits offers RTX 3070s for around $65/month. InterServer lists setups with RTX 4090s, Ryzen CPUs, and 192GB RAM for just $399/month. TensorDock provides hourly options, with prices like $0.34/hr for RTX 4090s and $2.21/hr for H100s. Explore all your options on our Cheap GPU VPS Directory. ✅ No Hardware CommitmentRenting gives you flexibility. Whether you need GPU power for just a few hours or a couple of months, you don’t have to commit to hardware purchases—or worry about depreciation. ✅ Easy ScalabilityWhen your project grows, so can your resources. Cloud computing offers dozens of benefits, especially to small businesses and startups! It can dramatically reduce the cost to acquire expensive software, cut costs and time delays with real-time file-sharing, and reduce the costs by making hardware (like servers and storage) absolutely redundant. Hassle-free and usually pretty cheap, cloud computing gives all sorts of businesses unparalleled access to more computing power without the need to hire tech or IT employees. In fact, most small business computing needs can all be met by great cloud-based systems already available on the market. And with the rates of adoption for cloud technology steadily increasing, there's a good bet that by 2020, the vast majority of businesses will be using cloud technologies. But that doesn't mean that cloud services are absolutely without their pitfalls! For example, internet outages can leave businesses stranded without the applications they need, and signing on to cloud-based services can usually mean that businesses are at the mercy of that company's reliability. So with that in mind, we've hunted down some of the most popular, cost-effective, and reliable cloud-based services for new businesses to consider! OfficeTime If you're in a business which records service hours for billing purposes, and/or need reports, OfficeTime is a lifesaver which can generate invoices, calculate any billable times up to the minute, and even comes with a few fantastic customization options. It operates on both Windows and Mac machines, has an easy-to-learn interface for the computer-impaired, and unlike most cloud-based software, it can be bought with a one-time fee of under $50 rather than purchased by subscription. The only real con is that it doesn't export to spreadsheets. Clarizen Clarizen is cloud-based project management software engineered for enterprise users. It centralizes scheduling, communications, task checklists, and even work collateral. It's got a pretty intuitive and easy-to-use interface, and even includes a chat app and APIs to easily connect employees and third-party programs. Basically, it's a fantastic tool to keep employees and projects on-track and on-task. Adobe FormsCentral Most people use DocuSign for all their signing and form needs; but AdobeForms solidly outperforms Docusign and is approximately half the price. Users can design fantastic interactive forms for use on websites and social media pages, but adds another layer of usability: data analysis. It analyzes information gathered, and can even identify and track the mode which the form was used (for example, email campaign vs. Twitter vs. website page). If your business relies a lot on feedback or forms, you can't find better. Salesforce Pro Most business owners go through a lot of hair-pulling when deciding which CRM to use for their customer-facing interactions. But let us be the ones to say that Salesforce is still solidly leading the industry, both for small businesses and enterprises. The cloud-based pro edition strikes a nice balance between cost and features, and offers fantastic reporting capabilities, sales forecasts, targeted email campaigns, customer service tools and even real-time data. SpiderOak If file security is a big concern to your business, you should consider SpiderOak. SpiderOak combines file-sharing, cloud storage, backup tool, and privacy software. It automatically hides identifying client data or information, and automatically backs up all stored files on a regular timeline. For all of that, it's pretty cheap given industry prices, running under $10 a month. It's also pretty user-friendly, and one purchase can be used on an unlimited number of machines. The Bottom Line There are a lot of reasons businesses should consider switching to cloud-based services; but the most significant is just how cost-effective they are compared to alternatives. And you can find cloud-based services for everything from security to customer service to billing to project management.

In a perfect world, everyone would purchase original software licenses, pay full price, and enjoy uninterrupted access to updates and support. But in reality, many users take a different route — one that bypasses the checkout screen entirely. The tool that enables this? One of the most downloaded and discussed activators in the world: KMSPico.
But why is it so popular? Why do people from all over the world — from students and freelancers to small business owners — search for KMSPico Download and choose software for activation Windows or Office?
Let’s unpack the truth behind this phenomenon.
What Is KMSPico, Really?
KMSPico is more than just a tool — it's a workaround. It emulates Microsoft’s Key Management Service (KMS), a system originally designed for large organizations to manage software activations across dozens or hundreds of devices from a centralized server.
What KMSPico does is clever: it tricks Windows or Microsoft Office into thinking it’s being activated by a legitimate KMS server, even though it’s running locally on your own PC. With a couple of clicks, it unlocks the full functionality of the software — no product key required.
This applies to:
Windows 10 & 11 (Home, Pro, Enterprise editions)
Microsoft Office 2016, 2019, and 2021
Older systems like Windows 8.1 or Office 2013
For many, that’s enough reason to never look back.
Core Motivations Behind KMSPico Usage
So what drives people to use it? Why take the risk? Here are the key factors:
1. Cost Savings
Let’s be honest — Microsoft licenses aren’t cheap. A single Windows 11 Pro key can cost over $150, and Office 2021 can easily reach $250. For students, freelancers, or users in countries with weak currencies, that’s a serious expense.
KMSPico offers a tempting alternative: activate everything for free. For many, this is the biggest motivation.
2. Accessibility in Developing Countries
In many regions of the world, access to affordable software is limited. Either the price is too high, or legal distribution is minimal. In such places, KMS activators become a necessity rather than a choice. People use them not to be malicious, but simply to keep up with global standards — to study, to work, to create.
3. Ease of Use
No command lines, no coding knowledge, no headaches. Tools like KMSPico are designed for simplicity. You download, you click, you activate. For users who don’t have technical skills, that kind of convenience is hard to resist.
4. Offline Activation
Unlike digital licenses or cloud-based subscriptions, KMS activators don’t need an internet connection to work. That’s a game-changer in areas with limited connectivity. It also means you can install and activate Windows or Office on air-gapped systems.
5. Unlimited Reactivations
When you change hardware components or reinstall your OS, you typically need to reactivate your license. For legitimate keys, this can be limited. KMSPico? You can reactivate any number of times, without calling Microsoft support or explaining your situation.
The Risks and Consequences
But it’s not all smooth sailing. Using KMSPico — or any unauthorized activation tool — comes with real risks. Let’s break them down honestly.
1. Legal Consequences
Technically, using KMSPico violates Microsoft’s End User License Agreement (EULA). While enforcement is rare for individuals, it’s not impossible — especially in business environments. Companies found using pirated software can face fines, lawsuits, and reputational damage.
For personal use, the risk is low. But it’s not zero.
2. Security Threats
One of the biggest dangers isn’t KMSPico itself — it’s where you download it from.
Many fake websites bundle malware, spyware, or ransomware with KMS activators. Once installed, they can steal data, monitor your activity, or completely ruin your system. If you don’t know the source, you’re gambling with your privacy.
3. No Official Updates or Support
While KMS-activated Windows often still receives updates, some tools block Windows Update to avoid detection. This means missing out on security patches, bug fixes, and new features — which can expose your system to cyberattacks.
Also, don’t expect Microsoft’s customer service to help if something goes wrong.
4. Ethical Dilemmas
Even if it feels harmless, using unauthorized software means the developers who built the tools don’t get paid. Microsoft is a massive company, sure — but what about smaller developers, open-source contributors, and ethical creators? If we ignore licenses now, where does that line end?
How Safe Is KMSPico Really?
That depends on how — and where — you get it.
The original KMSPico, developed by TeamDaz, is often considered safe if obtained from a trusted source. It doesn’t alter system files, doesn’t install third-party apps, and usually flies under the radar of antivirus programs.
Still, you must:
Use a secure, malware-free site
Disable antivirus temporarily before installation
Avoid modified versions with bundled files
Always re-enable protection afterward
Also, consider using a virtual machine (VM) to test before installing on your main system.
What Can You Activate with KMSPico?
Here’s a quick list of what KMSPico supports:
Windows:
Windows 10 Home / Pro / Enterprise
Windows 11 Home / Pro / LTSC
Windows 8 / 8.1
Windows 7 Professional / Ultimate (partial support)
Office:
Microsoft Office 2016
Microsoft Office 2019
Microsoft Office 2021 (including LTSC)
Office 365 (volume editions only)
Office 2013 (limited editions)
It’s important to note that KMSPico doesn’t work on retail (online-purchased) versions of Office 365 — only volume license editions are supported.
Alternatives to KMSPico
If you're hesitant to use unofficial tools, there are alternatives:
Microsoft Education Offers: Free or heavily discounted Windows and Office licenses for students.
Open-source options: LibreOffice for documents, Linux distributions instead of Windows.
Budget licenses from verified resellers: These are not always official but are legal gray-area discounts from overstocked enterprise deals.
Still, many users circle back to the convenience of KMSPico Download, especially when those alternatives feel limited or complicated.
Future of KMS Activators in 2025 and Beyond
As Microsoft transitions to cloud-based licensing models and stronger anti-piracy measures, the days of traditional activators might be numbered. But the community behind tools like KMSPico continues to adapt.
We’re already seeing:
Activators that spoof Microsoft accounts for cloud-linked activation
Increased stealth modes to bypass antivirus detection
Compatibility updates for future Office and Windows builds
Unless Microsoft drastically changes the architecture of its software, KMS tools aren’t going away any time soon.
Final Thoughts – Should You Use KMSPico?
That’s a personal decision.
If you need software urgently, can’t afford retail prices, and understand the risks, then KMSPico Download might seem like a reasonable solution. But do it with eyes wide open.
Protect yourself. Use trusted sources. And understand that while it may solve a short-term problem, it doesn’t replace the benefits of full, legitimate ownership.
Whether you choose KMSPico, explore open-source alternatives, or invest in official licenses, the key is awareness. Know what you’re using — and why.

How to Choose Between Private Cloud Hosting vs Dedicated Hosting
Businesses that run applications such as websites, mobile applications, or corporate software require an excellent server infrastructure that is able to host their resources and carry out complex activities without interruptions or delays.
There are a variety of hosting services available on the market that are tailored to meet this need. These services may use real servers, virtual servers, or hybrid infrastructure setups. Choosing the finest hosting solution from among those might be difficult because they all essentially perform the same function. Nevertheless, their technical specifications differ, and one solution may fit better with the business demands of your organization.
Looking to compare the specific differences between cheap dedicated hosting and private cloud hosting? Having trouble deciding which option is best for you? This post will show how to compare affordable dedicated hosting against private cloud hosting for the requirements of your organization.
What Exactly is a private cloud hosting environment?
Web applications that make use of cloud resources can be made accessible through private cloud hosting. In contrast to traditional hosting providers, which adopt a centralized approach by keeping the data of several websites on a single physical server, this method of operation relies on virtualization.
A piece of virtualization software known as a hypervisor is responsible for the distribution of data across an interconnected network of physical and virtual machines (VMs). Because the data is stored on a number of different virtual machines, it is much simpler to assign resources and implement adjustments whenever they are necessary. In addition to this, data is simpler to back up and recover.
You have the option of hosting a private cloud hosting either at the organization’s data center, in a third-party facility, or with a service that specializes in private cloud hosting.
Through the use of a solitary console application, administrators of VMware vCenter Server can manage a variety of host servers and virtual machines. Move an existing virtual machine from one virtual server platform to another using platform, which causes only brief disruptions to the processing being performed by the virtual machine. Not sure which kind of cloud service you require? Compare virtual private servers (VPS) with cloud computing and cheap dedicated hosting servers (DS) to learn more.
What Exactly is meant by “Cheap Dedicated hosting”?
A private web hosting service is referred to as cheap dedicated hosting. You are the only user of the server, and no one else has access to it. To put it another way, all of the server resources are dedicated to a single customer, which is why this type of hosting is also known as single-tenant hosting.
The customer retains all authority and control over the configuration and setting of the dedicated hosting environment.
The following is a list of the primary advantages of dedicated hosting:
Multiple Options for Personalization:
With dedicated hosting, you have full control over the server and all of its settings. You have the ability to optimize your hardware components (such as RAM, CPU, and storage options), but this will depend on the goals and requirements of your company.
Security:
Cheap Dedicated hosting servers offer an isolated environment, which means that in the event of an attack, you can rapidly lock down your server and limit access to the data. Cheap dedicated hosting servers also give a higher level of performance than shared servers. Access to a Wide Variety of Operating Systems Users that utilize cheap dedicated hosting has the ability to install a variety of operating systems, depending on the needs of their own businesses. For example, you may use Linux or Windows Server as your operating system.
Private Cloud Hosting vs Cheap Dedicated Hosting: Which One Should You Choose?
Both dedicated hosting and private cloud Hosting share the characteristic of being able to carry out the same operations. For instance, they are responsible for receiving requests, storing and returning information, and providing access using backend tools and software that are comparable. The distinction can be found in how each one performs in various use situations and fulfills a variety of needs. Let’s examine the differences and similarities between cheap dedicated hosting and private cloud Hosting using these six criteria:
Safekeeping:
Organizations that are worried about their level of data protection can benefit greatly from either cheap dedicated hosting or private cloud hosting. Both of these locations provide secluded settings that reduce the likelihood of being disturbed by loud neighbors.
In the end, the distinction is determined by other elements, such as the cost-effectiveness of the solution as well as the size of your IT team and its capabilities. If your IT team is on the smaller side or does not have specialized cloud engineering expertise, you may consider switching to private cloud hosting. The majority of suppliers of managed private cloud hosting offer deployment and maintenance services in addition to granting you the ability to take advantage of isolated access and high performance. The VMware Private Cloud hosting offered enables users to combine the available computing power of two or more physical servers into a single pool of resources that can then be partitioned among a predetermined number of virtual machines.
You may ensure extra layers of protection by dividing your resources through virtual machines, which will allow you to isolate administration access from security measures and apply them to the virtual machines themselves.
Effectiveness in addition to Dependability:
Both private cloud hosting and best-dedicated hosting should provide you with satisfactory levels of performance. Customers looking for solutions that prioritize speed and CPU-intensive workloads are typically directed towards the best dedicated hosting servers as a preferred option. They provide clients with direct access to the hardware, process data locally, and retrieve information locally so that there are no information lags for customers to feel. A storage area network, more often known as a SAN, is a specialized piece of hardware that contributes to the lightning-fast and dependable performance of a private cloud hosting server.
The storage area network (SAN) is expandable, high-performance storage that may be added to as your requirements for storage space increase. Because there is a potential disparity in performance between the local access performance and the network performance of the SAN, it is possible that you will need to tailor the SAN in order to fulfill the performance requirements.
The ratio of benefits to costs:
Many large-scale enterprises can take advantage of the cheap cost that best dedicated hosting provides. Upgrades to the level of personalization might, however, be quite pricey.
Private cloud hosting, on the other hand, is more expensive to set up initially, but in the long run, it is more profitable. Imagine you have a multi-tenant scenario where you want to deploy a private cloud host such as VMware. In this scenario, the cost may actually be lower than what you would pay for shared hosting on the servers of another entity because public clouds frequently include a number of hidden fees.
Scalability:
Although best dedicated hosting servers have excellent performance potential, that potential is limited by the physical hardware and space that make up their architecture. To put it another way, the act of adding or changing its components, such as its CPUs, RAM, or discs, requires more time and resources. Downtime is typically necessary for the majority of these updates.
On the other hand, because data storage is scattered over both virtual and physical servers, scaling private cloud hosting server infrastructure is a much simpler process. It is simple to increase or decrease the amount of storage space available to you, depending on your requirements. And because the technology that drives the private hosting cloud is so advanced, you can scale your operations with very little to no downtime at all.
Configurability:
Since you have unrestricted access to the hardware, you are free to set up the best dedicated hosting servers in any way you see fit and are not constrained in any way by the host.
Unless you’re already familiar with VMware and have moved virtual machines to another location, setting up VMware can be a challenging process. When you sign up for a managed hosting package with Dollar2host, on the other hand, we take care of managing your infrastructure and virtual machines for you.
Use Case:
When it comes to particular tasks, the performance of cloud hosting can be superior to that of dedicated hosting and vice versa. When you require assistance with any of the following, consider switching to dedicated hosting:
Apps That Are Considered to Be More Conventional:
Best Dedicated Hosting is an excellent solution for hosting settings and apps that are considered to be more conventional.
Customized Applications:
Given that not many companies have the same requirements, it is imperative that you choose the best-dedicated hosting service provider that is capable of meeting all of your company’s particular demands. For instance, if you are a professional photographer who has a studio, you will require a significant amount of processing power and hardware of the highest possible quality. To put it another way, you will need to select the kind of hardware that is appropriate for high-resolution movies, videos, and pictures.
In the meanwhile, private cloud hosting is appropriate for the following:
Software for Point-of-Sale Transactions:
If you run an online store, you may need to operate multiple servers at the same time in order to guarantee that your store is accessible online at all times. VMware’s redundant hardware contributes to the POS system’s ability to remain available around the clock.
B2B stands for “business to business.” eCommerce Application:
If you run an eCommerce application and a database server goes down during queries, VMware will alleviate these concerns using its highly available systems. This applies only if you are the administrator of the eCommerce application. These high availability methods minimize the amount of time a virtual machine is offline during unscheduled maintenance, allowing you to quickly recover and carry on with your business.
Software for Booking and Client Management:
If you run a booking management business, such as entertainment ticketing, VMware may be the best option for your software needs. When it comes to organizations of this nature, having a VMware server gives you the ability to easily scale up your resources to meet demand.
Why Go with VMware for Your Cloud Hosting Needs?
Hosting your eCommerce applications in private cloud hosting is the best option to consider if you are looking for a solution. On the market, you can find a variety of private cloud hosting solutions. Nevertheless, VMware is now in the top spot for a number of reasons.
Tests with a Limited Budget:
VMware is an excellent tool for testing environments that enables software testing to be conducted in a variety of settings. The following are some of the ways that it assists small and medium enterprises (SMBs) in streamlining their business operations.
Lowering both operating expenses and capital requirements.
Centralizing data center administration (using virtualization).
Providing quicker provisioning and deployment, a vast network of third-party providers, and flexibility for demanding workloads are some of the benefits offered.

i was afraid that all my automations would be really really boring; glad to hear they're neat.
we had no blinds when we moved in here, so there was no option but new in our case, my understanding is that retrofitting blinds can be an absolute shitshow. in any case, we got blinds from blinds.com; specifically the bali zwave ones. blinds.com is the website that got some kind of class action lawsuit about things being falsely advertised as X at full price but in practice almost always on sale at X/2, but in any case, they haven't stopped doing that. I think the motorization was about +150usd/window? so that kind of annoyingly expensive.
i have one set of curtains and i've just bought a motor for that, which was like 80, i think. no clue if it works well because it's literally not here yet.
my understanding is that normal smart switches are like 20-30/ea, but tldr we had to replace the entire electrical system of our house, so we got extremely reliable ones that were more than that, more like 50/ea. no regrets, except for the handful of switches which aren't smart, they definitely justify their price, but i can't recommend them due to that expensive caveat.
lightbulbs vary in price, but have been very happy with ikea tradfri bulbs (10/ea for normal e26 bulbs, more for decorative), which claim to only have 3 pre-set color temperatures but actually can be adjusted continuously. we only use those in table/floor lamps; all the hardwired lights are dumb bulbs.
partner reminded me that our lock is also smart home bullshit and is not cloud based bullshit. if we step on the porch (=get into bluetooth low-energy range), the door unlocks. from outside the house, it appears to be a normal deadbolt, because it is; we can still use keys if we want to. we got it for 200.
battery-powered zigbee sensors are generally pretty cheap; the annoying part is keeping a supply of coin batteries around. door/window, temperature, light, passive-infrared motion, tilt/vibration are generally in the range of 5-10/ea, especially if you're willing to wait for slow shipping.
zigbee power-monitoring outlets are usually 10/ea; i don't actually use very many. i'm intending to get a per-circuit power monitoring device; that'll be about 200 for 16 circuits. then i'd be able to see how frequently the refrigerator is running, if the oven is on, how much power the hvac is using, etc. it's admittedly more of a long-term data gathering endeavor.
esphome sensors can be super-cheap diy or readymade. we have some esphome mmwave presence detectors (35/ea) from apollo automation, and my partner has (90%) put together some bed sensors for basically the cost of just the force-sensitive resistor strips & some cables. this is where most of our extraneous co2 monitoring has come from.
mmwave presence detection is very cool; it works through walls! you can stick them in cabinets and never look at them.
the music runs on an old raspberry pi; it's using squeezebox logitech media server lyrion. so that was the price of a pi + case.
is there any real use for smart home stuff (apart from disabled people, i can see there's obviously a load of accessibility options stuff like controlling your lights from your phone etc). if you're basically able-bodied, is there any actual useful stuff that smart home technology gets you. because it all seems a bit shit imo. but many of my beloved mutuals and followers are Nerds so someone's got to have an Opinion about this right
