Eragon series
Tumblr media
Never been able to finish it, but would like to. Even so, I do recommend the series.
Don't let the movie fool you into thinking the original books were awful too. Though I will give a standing ovation for their design of Sapheria in the movie.

Earthsea series by Ursula K. Le Guin
Tumblr media
Found this book series years ago. Been a long time since I read it, would love to hear this book and the others in audio.
Even though I have forgotten a lot, I still recommend the series because I remember enjoying it.

Wheel Of Time series by Robert Jordan
Tumblr media
I got most of the series at home. I can also find it in audiobook on YouTube. Tried listening to the whole series like that, but found eventually it became a slog because the books are so long and the series is a long one too. Not saying it's a bad series, just a lot to try to take on all in one go. Still haven't finished it yet.
Some of the Amazon series based on these books were alright, but they were changed so much that I lost patience and gave up on them. The sets, the acting and the special effects were very good. Just wish they stuck to the original plot more closely.
Well, happy reading. This series begins with Eye of the World.

The Ship Who Sang
Tumblr media
Never completed the series but I'd very much like to. I enjoyed the few novels in the series I've read so far. Highly recommend them.
My only complaint is that most of the series does not come in audiobook. They all come in Kindle though. I think about half of them are in audiobook format. They're on my monstrous wish list.

Unusual Manga
Tumblr media
This is an unusual book pick for me. I’ve known about it for a few years now because I found it in one of my bored out of my mind internet searches. Never tried to buy it though because it was in Japanese.
But, Netflix decided to create a live action series based on the books. Some thought it was okay, some reviewers were really critical of the plot. I wasn’t and thought it was okay.
Later after the show aired the original manga was translated into English and French. I had some money do out of curiosity I bought the ebook version in Kindle. The plot is basically about discrimination in the workplace against women who get pregnant and start families and the difficulties of balancing careers and home life with children by turning gender roles on its head. Not sure if it really accomplishes that, but the overall story isn’t bad. I do recommend it even with the usual story element used to explore certain aspects of work culture in Japan. And my phone is malfunctioning slightly so I can’t make corrections so I’m continuing out of order here. As I post more books you’ll see that I’m not super into mpreg. Most of it is crap and that very awful writing is what inspired me to write my own mpreg just to remove everything I hated about the genre and thought it a fun challenge to create a good story out of something most people do horribly. So my complimenting this book series is worth noting because it really isn’t terrible at all.
It’s a four book series and the final book will be out in October and I did preorder it so I could finish off the series myself. I found that some bits of the story was hard to follow but that could just be me that’s having that issue and not the fault of the author.

Sharp shinned hawk
Tumblr media
2/18/2024: Saw this bird this afternoon. Never seen one before. Had to look him/her up. Beautiful bird. Looks similar to a Cooper's hawk only smaller and with white markings on the wings. This is one of those situations were I wish I had a better camera with lots of zoom. But, all I have is my phone. Anyway, this is in Clearfield, Utah.

Halloween Goongi. A portrait of Goongi based off a really bad photo of her that flashed her eyes. In reality, she was very shy and had the loveliest golden eyes that looked striking with her black fur. Maybe someday I'll use another photo as a reference to get her eyes right next time. But thought this would be a good theme for Halloween even did my best to finish the drawing before October was over.

Unexpected Cargo
Tumblr media
Yep, I'm the author. I can tell you that there's no kink, barely any sex at all, no spurting bodily fluids, no weird fixations on lactating (it's there, but it's absolutely not a kink or fetish fuel thing and I mean that with total sincerity), it's not gay (just a matter of personal taste and not prejudice, I swear), and absolutely no fetishes! So basically, none of the things that the mpreg genera is all too often notorious for and I hate all that crap. Just awful. It also has a decent plot,, which is something else most mpregs don't have. In fact the main focus is the story as a whole and the experiences of the main protagonist. One spoiler, he didn't get into his situation by having sex. Instead, something unexpected happens when he agrees to take a job from a fleeing princess...and they were never romantically involved...which is just as well, because it would have been creepy and weird if they got involved. Though he does get romantically involved with his sister...sort of. Ha-ha, just kidding, his adopted sister, so no incest. Unusual, but such things have been done in real life.
Anyway, since I'm between jobs at this time, I really could use your support of my work. I don't sell my books very often and when I do manage a sale, it's this one and only this one. Must have something going for it.
Yes, I might be singing my own praises, but I have reason to believe in my work. If it wasn't for some unfortunate circumstances, I'd be getting a professional editor and publisher to work for me. But neither of those come cheap. Neither will the services of a book cover illustrator because I am aware that I need an update on that too. And even a reader to make an audiobook version once all the editing was done. I've gotten very limited feedback, but some of it was very useful. Even so, people tend to like my novel.
So, check out Unexpected Cargo. It's on Amazon and it comes in paperback and in Kindle. Let me know if you agree with me that this novel would work well as a Netflix movie or mini series.
P.S. - I wrote this novel because I was bored, wanted to break away from Eden Symbiotic (my other novel) and hated the majority of the stories in the mpreg genera. So thought it would be a fun challenge to write something that most people are bad at and turn it into a good story. As far as exploring mpregs, well, I was mind numbingly bored out of my mind. So I went do odd places online to find anything entertaining. Why that direction I don't know. It expanded my vocabulary and introduced me to concepts I'd never thought of on my own. Most of the time it left me disgusted and I've largely given up on searching for such crap anymore. Still, it inspired me to try it myself, minus all the elements I hated.
I hope you notice that the bulk of the books I recommend are the largely popular mainstream books. I'm more into those than the weird shit I sometimes get into for whatever reason.

Lightbearer by L.C. Davis...book review...the story is crap.
Tumblr media
This book did have a good beginning. A brother sacrificing himself for the sake of his twin sister. After that it slowly devolved into a gross erotic fantasy that went too far. I'm only continuing to read it because I bought the book.
The fact that the story is a gay romance isn't the really off putting part, though not my favorite thing. But I was exploring outside of my normal picks for books and really going out there. At least in the Degan trilogy by Rob Colton there was a decent plot that I enjoyed in spite of the overly descriptive bits about spurting that I thought went too far and didn't care for and though that kind of stuck in my mind, I was able to look past it.
Lightbearer....ugh. Just yuck. Even the very smutty Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series by Laurel K. Hamelton had more class when it came to describing sex. In fact, I'd be happy if sex was only strongly implied and then move on in a story plot no matter the sexual orientation and have the story focus more on relationships and the adventure the characters are having together. I don't mind sex in a story mostly, but most writers don't focus so much on big penises, spurting fluids, one personality dominating the other and one being submissive. Sigh. Being too descriptive about some things and not leaving it to the imagination of the reader can quickly become disgusting.
Generally speaking, I don't care how the story is oriented sexually, I don't care for stories that romance is the main focus. I did have an idea of what I was getting into when I bought this book, but curiosity and severe boredom won out over my better sense.
Why do so many writers do this, especially when there's romance involved and suddenly, they have to describe their lovemaking? It's not wrong, especially if there's a decent balance to the plot and the main focus is on the relationship and not the sex. And the descriptions I have discovered, must have some class and don't overdo the details. Especially the icky parts, which we all know is part of every primal thing humans do, even merely eating if you think about it. I don't want to know.
So, do not waste your money on Lightbearer. Parts of it are grose and don't make much sense. Some the plot is actually okay, but the icky parts really take away from the whole story. Just eeew!
It's much the same as the crap I all too often find here on DeviantART when I'm bored enough to look up stupid shit. But, such searches did lead to being inspired to write Unexpected Cargo. Which is not gay oriented as a matter of personal taste. Has barely any sex in it and the main focus is the protagonist's experience on his adventure with his family. It is an mpreg like Lightbearer, but there are no fetishes, no spirting, barely any mention of private parts at all...romance was just touched on and I moved on with the plot. There was an equality in the relationship of the two lovers in my story too. And even though my book is a bit odd and barely sells, it sells more often than my other books.
Anyway, I'm done with this genre. This story might have been alright if the too graphic sex parts were left off and not dragged out. But, I am so done and I'm never reading this story again. Just yuck. Don't waste your money on this book.

This hawk recently landed on my porch. I was close enough to get a good shot with my camera. A very good shot. Only I didn't have my camera with me as I sat at the table. If I had moved too much he would've flown off anyway. So, all I could do was enjoy the experience and lament that I didn't have my phone with me. Beautiful bird though.

Dragoness and Mare.
This is a gaming concept I invented that I'd love to have made. I don't have the resources to do it myself.
The two main characters are actually based on lost toys I had as a child. They look a great deal better in my drawing than the toys did. I Cheated a bit with the backdrop and basically everything except for the dragon and mare. I was more interested in the idea than doing all the work myself. I do realize that this idea won't happen. Who would take interest in it? So, it was a fun idea that I enjoyed trying, but will go nowhere.
