Tundrafrost brings a litter of kits back to camp, but doesn’t want to talk about their origin. The litter consists of Kingkit, a bullying male, Sockeyekit, a know-it-all female, and Chumkit, an excitable female.

Given the new additions, Tundrafrost and Chickadeeblur have decided to become mates!

[Sorry this one took so long, I was on a road trip. But, in trade you guys get to be introduced to Tundra and Chickadee’s spoiled ass kids! They’re all named after types of salmon; King Salmon is also called Chinook Salmon, Sockeye Salmon is also called Red Salmon, and Chum Salmon is also called Dog Salmon.]

Spring slowly overtakes winter as the last piles of snow melt into a soggy layer of grey-brown slush. Chickadeeblur takes Sockeyepaw down into the tall grass of the valley in hopes that they might find some more impressive prey to prove her skill to Owlstar.

Unbeknownst to the hunters, a cow moose had hidden her new calves in the same meadow. A single well placed step would be enough to fully crush a cat, but luckily Chickadeeblur escapes with only a broken leg.

Sockeyepaw is honored for her tranquility, having kept her wits about her in a terrifying situation. She is named Sockeyepelt, and joins her brother Kingfur in the warriors den. Chumpaw is deeply jealous.

[Hey folks! Was feeling inspired so this one moved along quick. Events somewhat inspired by the time I watched a moose go after a squirrel. I don't have any idea why she decided it was a threat but it was entertaining (the squirrel was fine, it got out of dodge). And don't worry, Sockeye's not misgendering Chickadee, they told their kids to keep calling them "dad" cause they were emotionally attached to it.]

Loudclan - Moon 30:

Time does not stop, and so the clan must move forward. They welcome Cavedew as their newest warrior, honoring him for his wit. For possibly the first time ever, Siltsplash decides to take a break, and thus his younger brother Erminepaw is apprenticed to Chickadeeblur.

Now an apprentice, Erminepaw is not shy about the fact that he has more interest in hanging out with Songpaw than he does in training to be a warrior.

Unfortunately for Songpaw, this means he won't be getting a break from his new crush anytime soon.

Meanwhile, Kingfur and Sockeyepelt come across a trespassing loner.

Axel is accepted into Loudclan, and takes the clan name Axeldawn.

Short and sweet! Just what we need after last moon! Erminepaw give our poor boy a break he's gonna have a heart attack. It's not like it's Songpaw's first crush, he has a big ol crush on Rosehiptree, but that's different, that's not something that could actually happen, Rosehip's older and cooler and way out of his league, so there's no pressure there. But Erminepaw, Erminepaw is right there with him all the time and now he's tall and he has no concept of personal space and Songpaw doesn't have any idea what to do about it. Also don't believe for a second that Siltsplash didn't know what they were doing. Out of all of Songpaw's possible mate choices in the clan Ermine is their favorite, so they are more than willing to assign him to herb gathering whenever he wishes. Sockeyepelt, on the other hand, has been officially ordered by Chickadeeblur to "give Axeldawn some space". She's just excited to have someone new to fawn over, Juneaucliff, Jaggedtail, and Peakpatch were getting boring, especially with Jagged and Peak spending so much time together. Axeldawn doesn't really mind the attention, he'd just like some time to adjust to clan life first. Anyway, loving seeing all of the people breaking out their detective skills on the last post! The correct answers, at least the ones I was intentionally foreshadowing, were Jagged x Peak, Song x Ermine, and Song x Rosehip. Not all of these new crushes are going anywhere, Song's crush on Rose is obviously fully one sided until he grows up, but they're fun while they last!

Wildfirecry wouldn’t let them stay overnight in the healer’s den, so they decided to show their admiration in otherways! (All flowers gathered under the close supervision of Silt and Fierce, of course). They think she is the best! Like the real life version of one of the Ancestors from Weed’s stories!

Chumpaw definitely got chewed out by Chickadeeblur for doing something stupid and dangerous when there were older warriors around. But the whole time Tundrafrost was purring praises for being so brave and that kinda undercut the message.

sort of an out of the blue ask, but I remember when Weed was first introduced, she and Tundrafrost were said to be old friends and they were being pretty touchy and blushy with each other and Chickadeeblur seemed kinda jealous. Did they actually have a thing for each other, or did Chickadee just misinterpret it that way?

Tundrafrost and Weed did in fact "have a thing" in their much younger years. Tundrafrost and Chickadeeblur didn't grow up in the valley, and throughout their journey to it Tundra had many non-serious flings, of which Weed was one. When Weed was looking for a place to settle down for her old lady years, she reached out to Tundrafrost, whom welcomed her to the clan. Chickadeeblur had no real reason to be jealous, as she has no interest in taking a mate at this age, and the three are very good friends now. You're so right though, they definately do a kid trade where Tundra and Chickadee get to enjoy Cavepaw's baby phase and take him exploring out of camp to get his energy out while Weed settles down to talk Kingfur, Sockeyepelt, and Chumpaw through their standard teenager drama.

I try to keep the names the game gives me if it doesn't contradict with the setting. Things like "Owl", "Weed", "Jagged", or "Fierce" while not being Alaska specific are things or ideas that would be accessible to the cats and therefore I leave those. But names that do contradict or just seem boring to me I do try to change to something similar but more specific. Sand -> Silt, Chicken -> Chickadee, Prarie -> Tundra, Dog -> Dogwood, etc. It's not that any of these couldn't exist in nature in alaska, they just didn't feel like they fit the story at this point. In the first couple of hundred moons I tried to make sure that litters were named thematically based off of the oldest kit's name and their parent's personality, but after time this just became too much work and I think the random names are fun too. That's why the Tundra x Chickadee babies are all types of salmon and the healer kits all have long plant names. Some themes are definately looser than others. I do definately change the sillier names and try to balance out the "weird", for example, the fish babies all have pretty plain suffixes because their prefixes are pretty out-there and nothing else seemed to pair very well with them. "Kingflight" is just a little much, to my ear at least. Also the healer kits will have short suffixes because their prefixes are so long and just from a purely mechanical standpoint I can't fit "Dogwoodcaterpillar" or "Rosehiptadpole" in a comic panel.

Thank you! And go for it! I'd love to see people use my ideas in their own ways! If you want to give a little "insert idea inspired by @loudclan-clangen" I'd appreciate it a ton, (mostly cause I want to go see what you guys are making), but if not that's totally fine. I'm definitely not the first person to do a lineage challenge, but I'm glad that you like my system!

The healer kits are all pretty close! They are often left to their own devices while their parents tend to an emergency, so they're used to entertaining/distracting each other. Dogwoodpaw and Rosehippaw always take turns playing with Cavekit and keeping an eye on what's going down, and Cavekit knows to back off when Rosehippaw starts having a coughing fit.

C'mon guys give him a break. They only flirted like... a couple of times. Plus, she's so cool, she's like THE reason the clan found the Black Water Pool. Who could blame him for having a bit of a crush on her???

You are not dumb. It's just that a lot of people think it's Owlstar... Like a LOT of people.

I am sooo (╥﹏╥). She may not have been starclan's specialest little girl but she was mine! Honestly though those kids would have been SO messed up if she had been allowed to raise them. Like yeah this is definately psychologically scarring but maybe its for the best tbh. Isn't he handsome? The sweet one with the white on his face? He's the oldest of the batch.

Okay, I know that you retracted this but, DON'T BE SORRY YOU'RE SO RIGHT??? Like YES. Being Rosehippaw and getting screwed over at every turn despite having two devout parents who did everything the way they were supposed to, and then to see Eklutna just carelessly endanger herself and her kits because they're "special" and "starclan will save them" would be AWFUL! Like is she not important enough for starclan to save her??? It could easily push someone over the edge.

First and foremost, Fiercestripe is worried about the well being of the kits. Once they're out of the woods then she'll turn her attention to the culprit.

Very well thought out theory, I wonder when would the kits' parentage be revealed? When they are old enough to take over as deputy or when Owlstar dies and they need to take his place?

It would be Fiercestripe. Cats (and animals in general) can lactate without giving birth but it's easier if they have. Plus Fiercestripe went from nursing her own kits to nursing Cavekit so she would still be producing milk at this point anyway. For Loudclan, nursing doesn't equate to adoption, so unless otherwise stated, assume that any adopted kits are being nursed by the queen who has most recently given birth.

That is exactly who she is. She is someone who had a destiny, a job, to bring Loudclan to the Black Water, but when her job was done Starclan abandoned her. And that is cruel and unfair. That's what makes her so tragic I think. She was abandoned by Starclan, leaving her lost and alone in the world, and in trying to get them back she has accidentally abandoned her kits, leaving them lost and alone in turn.

(ಥ_ಥ) guys I can't im so sorry I have the names written down in too many places. But also Saltykit is so funny like what if the clan did just name them how they felt about Eklutna and we just had like Hatekit, Angrykit, and Madkit.

List of people who could ABSOLUTELY tell a kit their mother is dead: Siltsplash, Wildfirecry, Weed, Fiercestripe, Chickadeeblur, Jaggedtail, Juneaucliff, Sockeyepaw, Dogwoodpaw, and Rosehippaw. They've got to find out at some point and it's better just to make sure they understand what it means from an early age then to have them grow up and find out and feel confused/betrayed/disappointed.
